A grads thread for the 30-something TTCers. All stages of gestation welcome. Come on in, pull up a birthing ball and have a Becks Blue.

A bit tumbleweedy in here, is it not? Wino, jars, where art thou?

Not that I mind talking to myself, you understand....

OP posts:
openerofjars · 28/02/2012 22:31

Word. It is well empty, innit, blood?

No Becks Blue here: just had Waitrose cheesecake here, though, which is more like it. Ooh, chocolate.

Okay, signing in: Jars reporting for duty. 27 weeks and 1 day, feel like shite and could do with, in no particular order, a fag, wine, sleep, a poo (sorry) and to remember that it took over a year to get here so should be bloody grateful...

And pissed off as well, natch.

Ladies?

Impatientwino · 29/02/2012 08:32

Hello my loves!

Wino reporting in, 18+5 and currently doing ok. This may largely be due to the fact that up until yesterday I have been horizontal in Cyprus getting a weeks final peaceful holiday.

'twas lovely but we've come home to a blown up boiler so waiting for the plumber to come and make us cry with the cost.

I could do with a bucket of wine and I hear you re digestive system woes, been upping my brown rice and kiwi fruit consumption, it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't?!

Am getting lots and lots of twinges this week, really painful - stretching pains I am assuming - feels like someone is pinching my insides especially when I cough, sneeze etc!

Am so glad we have a shiny new home to chin wag!

Fish how far are you now?

Fishandjam · 29/02/2012 09:46

Yo dudettes,

The fishy one reporting in. I'm 22+4 by scan dates, and doing OK apart from 'orrible SPD (standing, walking etc all hurt) and a touch of heartburn.

Re being bunged up, try drinking tons of water (or squash, or fruit juice). Eating more fibre can (apparently) just clog you up more if you're not taking in enough fluid to make it all swell. And don't forget you have a bigger fluid requirement due to your increased blood volume and the amniotic stuff...

In other parts of the fishy life, I'd just settle for Son Of Fishy to stop throwing a tantrum about absolutely everything.

Aaarrghh! Bleeding piles!

Ooh, and did I mention I'm having a pink'un?

OP posts:
openerofjars · 29/02/2012 20:21

No piles here, yet, but fucking dreadful Braxton Hicks. I had to eat my pudding lying down tonight.

Has anyone popped over to the TTC thread to tell them where to go when they get the second blue line, btw? I haven't as I've not been in there for a while (seems a bit salt:wound just to breeze in and say long time no see, btw if you manage it, here we are).

We haven't thought of any names we both like yet: DH looked at my lists, laughed and said, "Over my twitching corpse", so back to square 1...

Fishy dear, fab news. I bet mine is a daughter, too, but then I was rather convinced of the same re DS - that willy came as quite a shock.

Wino, is it like a pulled muscle/stitch feeling? I get those loads. They suck, but to tell you the truth, I am royally missing the second trimester. It was great in comparison with this load of rubbish.

Impatientwino · 01/03/2012 09:18

Yeah, I keep thinking that however I feel it's going to get worse! To be fair I am pretty well, when I read on here about all the troubles others are having I am tip top!

The pains are like stitches yes, so only temporary and the extent of my problems so far.

Plus my SIL is due 4 weeks before me and having huge trouble. She had their DD at 31 weeks and has incompetent cervix. She is having weekly scans to access cervix size and when she went last week they wouldn't let her leave the hospital it had shrunk that much - was kept overnight for a stitch op first thing the next morning.

Am keeping her cake levels topped up and all should be well now - has kept my niggles in perspective though...

Fab news about a pink one! To even out the universe I'm having a blue one! Had a private scan a couple of weeks back.

Will be on willy watch with you then jars!

Haven't been back to the ttc thread for a while now - been PMing with jewels so she's doing ok...

Am off work this week DIYing while I am still useful and off to ikea today so currently repeating the mantra 'I must not buy a ton of crap, I must not buy a ton of crap'

openerofjars · 04/03/2012 22:49

Dudes. I just weighed myself and I weigh nearly 12 and a half stone. I was 10 st in September!

There is no way this baby is even half a stone.

My arse is huuuuuuuuuuuuuugggggeeeeeeeeee.

Sorry for me post, but shit .

Fishandjam · 05/03/2012 13:55

jars, fret not. I'm 12 stone - put on around 18 lbs since start of pregnancy. Still, at least I'm thinner than I was in my first pregnancy. Which actually is kind of annoying as my existing maternity clothes are too big. Have had to buy new ones, dammit! Pass the cake...

DS appears to have impetigo - yuerkk. GP to confirm later today.

wino, sorry to hear about your SIL. Incompetent cervix is such a worry. AT least she's being monitored closely.

Re pink'un, it means we get to do the Blackadder sketch in the delivery room - "praise be to God, a boy without a winkle!"

OP posts:
DonnaDoon · 05/03/2012 17:21

Ha Fish you got me...love blackadder! Ill join you if you dont mind I do fit your criteria although I am only 5 weeks along

Fishandjam · 05/03/2012 20:41

Welcome doon! 5 weeks is fine, come on in.

DS defo has impetigo. Feels like something out of Dickens, along with quinsy and consumption. Luckily treatable with some ointment. Means he gets to stay off nursery with daddy, lucky lad Grin

Heartburn back with a vengeance. Pissflaps.

OP posts:
Impatientwino · 05/03/2012 20:45

Eveeeeening all

Donna, welcome, congrats, hope you're feeling well?

jars/fish - if it makes you feel any better I was 12 stone 11 when I got pregnant so here

I'm only up 5 pounds so far at 19+3 weeks but I think this is due to the amount of wine blubber I was carrying which is gradually coming off and is being offset by baby weight gain?!

OR I have a nasty feeling I'm going to wake up any day now and discover I've put on a stone overnight Hmm

Being surrounded by baby girls in our families and also our friends I've only ever changed girls nappies before so it's going to be interesting to learn what to do with a willy!

Can I ask when you first felt your babies move? (current buns and previous ones) I haven't felt anything yet (see the aforementioned wine blubber) and was wondering how much longer it's bloody going to be.

If I lie really still I can feel a pulsing in my tummy - you know like when you can feel your own pulse in random places occasionally? Nothing remotely like popcorn, butterflies and all that jazz.

20 week scan on 12th - can't wait to see my little man again!

Now, do you want some cream on these here brownies? It's clotted...

Impatientwino · 05/03/2012 20:47

x post fish, poor DS :(

openerofjars · 05/03/2012 23:20

Willies aren't the problem, it's getting poo off a tiny wrinkly scrotum (and you can quote me). First wiggles with the one were about 13 weeks, and then not gagin until 16 weeks, and I can't remember with DS, poor wee man. I wrote it down somewhere.

Fish, poor DS. I had it when I was little and remember my mum being mortified in just the same way. But I'm fine now, and at least it's not ringworm. Brr.

Donna, hi! Check all jelly sweets at the door, please. And pass the pile cream.

I have a huge tubigrip bandage to go over Bumpy. And a truss, which DS has called Lynne. Pelvic girdle pain: we hates it, precious.

Okay, the MW says I don't look too fat to her. Bless her.

2 weeks today... Ooh, getting viable over here. 9 weeks until full term.

openerofjars · 05/03/2012 23:21

Clearly that should have read 28 weeks. Bloody brain/fingers/fine motor control/iPad/DH (no reason).

DonnaDoon · 06/03/2012 00:59

Ha you guys are funny I reckon i might be having two or something as ive never had piles so early on and wino I never felt any movements with dc2 til gone 20 wks so no fear, have you tried a pint of cold water then lying with no pillows that usually wakes the lazy little gits

Fishandjam · 06/03/2012 10:32

Felt DS move at around 19 weeks, this one at 16. Different feelings though - DS was a really fluttery tickle for ages (up to around 24 weeks) but the proto-fishette has done proper big thumps and prods since the start. Even makes my fatty tummy wobble already.

wino, getting poo off willies and associated anatomy is easy peasy. I'm just wondering how I'll excavate it from a newborn fanny!

And while we're on the subject, who in the name of all that's evil decided to call pile cream ANUSOL? I know it does what it says on the tin, but really...

OP posts:
openerofjars · 06/03/2012 22:58

The worse thing is that there's a brand of mouth ulcer stuff called Anbesol.

Not funny at the age of 15. Bastards.

DonnaDoon · 07/03/2012 22:00

yo peeps how y`all doin ? Fatty here just are a tub of ben and jerrys to herself twas lovely though. Must get some anusol as germaloids or whatever its flippin called just dont cut it , its too watery.

Impatientwino · 08/03/2012 13:47

ahoy there preggos, I come bearing haribo, cake and various bum creams

jars ouchy! pgp - not cool, doesn't sounds too great lovely, up your pudding intake I think, that should help... LOL at the tiny wrinkly scrotum! 28 weeks, christ, getting there!

fish how is DS? any better? re the fanny, when I've changed my nieces I've generally deployed the 'baby wipe covered little finger' Not sure who was more uncomfortable me or them. They did look at me a bit strange during that bit! Not sure I'd like someone doing that to me!

donna good skills re the ben and jerrys - sainsbos accidentally gave me someone elses phish food in my delivery once and it is a constant struggle to not buy it....

in me me me news well, in my early 20s I had two mini strokes/ati incidents whatever you call them. The doc gave me aspirin to thin my blood and took me off the pill - he said that it was the oestrogen that was thickening my blood. Never had any trouble since - that was 12 years ago.

Therefore when with midwife filling out yellow form 'have you ever hads' and had to confess to these. This led to appointment with consultant yesterday and blood tests today to check my clotting levels, been referred to a hematologist and have to go back to consultants in two weeks.

Am hoping I can stay low risk becuase it was so long ago cos otherwise they won't let me near the midwife led birthing unit and birthing pools that I have been eyeing up.

Still, it's nice they are taking things seriously and just ruling stuff out. Plus got to see the baby for a few seconds yesterday while they scanned for the heartbeat which I wasn't expecting - the little toad was asleep and didn't move at all for me! Typical!

Have so many twinges in my tum so wondering if any of those are the wee one giving me a boot, who knows, am sure I've got kicks a plenty on the way so assuming they are just muscular for now.

right, off to find some biscuits, someone in the office must have some for goodness sakes!

Impatientwino · 08/03/2012 16:43

found some dark chocolate digestives on the second floor.... result...

openerofjars · 08/03/2012 23:38

We just found a whole bar of Green & Black Maya Gold! Get on!

Wino, wanna compare blood pressures?

Mine has gone up to...

...100/60.

No shit. If I stand up fast it probably all pools in my feet or something. It was only normal before because I was smoking!

Sorry to hear your clotting thingy, it sounds rank. And scary. You need cake and lots of it. Or more aspirin. Small medicinal red wine?

The foetus is kicking me in the cervix today. It is a mixed blessing: I like the kicks but the twinges are something else, like a smear test from the other side. Ow.

Impatientwino · 12/03/2012 20:44

hi de hi!

jars mine is 101/62 - gawd knows what it means but they didn't seem to fussed! Think that means you win - here's your prize

Had 20 week scan today - all is fine, 1 completely average baby which is pukka! I have put pic on my profile if you want to see baby wino

fish you ok my love? Ds ok?

donna still feeling ok?

rolls in barrel sized tub of ice cream and an array of ladles spoons

Impatientwino · 12/03/2012 20:57

fuck me, some judgeypants has started an AIBU saying is 1 bottle of wine too much for 1 person.

Let's hope she doesn't find our old thread or we're all for it!

I think our dustmen think we have moved rather than got pregnant due to the drop in bottle recycling!!!!

Fishandjam · 14/03/2012 09:08

Ho de ho!

Restless legs. Bugger me, but they are so. Fucking. ANNOYING. Haven't had a decent night's kip for several days now. Might try upping my iron intake to see if that helps.

I am watching my BP like the proverbial hawk, as are the various medics. Last check was 110/71, which will do me just fine. (When everything went pear-shaped last time, I'd gone up to 130/90 - not high in absolute terms, but enough to be a distinct warning bell.) So AFAIK the only issue with measurements of 100/60 or thereabouts is that they may be a bit on the low side and as you progress you might find yourself having slightly dizzy spells when getting up from a seated position etc. So just watch out that you don't accidentally pitch head forwards and end up on the floor, showing everyone your massive pregnancy pants.

wino, fab news on the scan! Are your little growth dots dead centre? The proto-fishette's are (unlike her brother, who had a fat tum, big head and long legs! 2.5 years on and not much has changed...) I guess no more news on the clotting thing? I'm sure all will be fine, especially if you've not had any problems with it for years.

donna, in my last pregnancy I regularly scarfed whole tubs of Green & Black's strawberry ice cream. Had a real thing for dairy products, for some reason (I also ate my bodyweight several times over in cheddar). Not had any cravings this time, sadly. If anything, I've found myself desiring some fresh fruit or even a salad.

jars, I hear ya on the cervix kicks. Almost feels like an electric shock. Proto-fishette has an unerring aim - it's either the cervix or right in the middle of my (full) bladdder. Yaroo!
