I couldn't sleep last night either. Had terrible cramps/braxton hicks and needed to poo then DS woke up with a nappy that had leaked all over him and his sleeping bag.

Tinwe · 02/03/2012 11:26

Sorry for not name checking everyone, am in bed on my phone still feeling 'Bish... in fact, feeling worse than ever after 2 nights of virtually no sleep through coughing.
2 things -

  1. thanks for posting everyone, makes me feel less alone and is my main distraction as I hack away, wide awake at three am.
  2. probably going to sound very very stupid but can anyone reassure me that coughing so much when so big will not give me a prolapse or knacker my pelvic floor etc? I'm paranoid that I'll do myself some damage and won't be able to go back to work due to double incontinence or bits hanging out or similar embarrassing issue Blush No sign of movement so far other than popping feelings when I'm coughing really badly which always makes me worry my waters have gone!
Tinwe · 02/03/2012 11:29

Sorry, posted too soon, think the popping might be my hips (SPD type thing)

HollyPockett · 02/03/2012 11:57

Gah. Decorating the Diva's nursery is NOT going according to plan.

We found mould in the room (was behind the spare bed) on Tuesday. DH banned me from the room until he'd cleared it of mould! We dealt with that, then he had a job int Wed that seemed to last hours so we lost the day (for a very good reason!) Then we started stripping the wallpaper yesterday but it seems the lady that lived here before used superglue and it's not coming off!

Rant over!

newmummyvicky · 02/03/2012 12:35

hi girls i had my 36 wk midwife appointment- all fine measure 36inches and heartbeat stronge!
It seems a long wait till 38- a whole two weeks!
Not sure if baby will make an apearence before. I was thinking mid march seems a good time, but somehow i think ill go over till april and maybe have an Easter baby with u guys!

Glad you have your date sorted Noric
and such lovely new uglymush that your partner with there with you, at this special time!
Riamary glad you ok, was wondering about u too!

Who watched OBEM this week? wasnt that girl strange with her make-up- lol

Oh midwife said head is facing down in a good postision! but still not engaged, and my goodness my heartburn is bad this week!

LaTristesse · 02/03/2012 15:34

Hey all, feeling a bit better today- had growth scan and all measurements are within normal range, placenta fine, right amount of fluid and she's definitely a girl! Current weight estimate 6.02 but apparently at this stage there's a 25% margin of error. Anyway all goodness and plenty of ammunition for future arguments with consultants over early induction and interventions etc.
MiL had DS overnight so I've been able to do lots of reading and researching into GD, and it appears my result is in the lower end, deemed merely impaired glucose intolerance, although they class it all as GD. It does mean though that I should be able to control it with dietary changes which is more good news for birthing without intervention.
All in all I feel much stronger emotionally than I did yesterday. Thanks for all your good wishes too; MN at it's best! Smile

spannermary · 02/03/2012 15:35

That's great news, LaTristesse!

VintageNancy · 02/03/2012 16:25

Great to hear your positive news LaT Smile

Morning everyone. Terrible night's sleep here. Damn hips! They only hurt in bed so maybe I should get up...

digitalgirl · 02/03/2012 19:10

Pleased to hear it's not looking so bad tristesse

About to do ds's bath and bed. Have had a busy day and can't wait to put my feet up. Hopefully DH will return from his late meeting and takeover storytime.

Flisspaps · 02/03/2012 20:10

LaTristesse yay for positivity! Grin

Treated myself to a new haircut today, I know it's not advised to do anything drastic in pregnancy because your face shape changes, but getting a fringe put back in has knocked 5 years off me, and balances out my now fat pregnant face, which was the one bit of me that wasn't fat before pregnancy and had remained fairly normal until last week Smile

balkanscot · 02/03/2012 21:43

Hello ladies, I have finally recovered enough from the inner ear infection to have spent the whole of this week (apart from today) at work, Monday-Wednesday was fine, but Thursday was quite an energy-zapping day.
MW appointment this morning, measuring 34.5 cm but am 33+3, and also am the biggest one in the ante-natal class (first one started today), yikes! More blood tests & urine tests to rule out anything serious such as preeclampsia (my blood pressure is a bit higher than usual) and anaemia. 2 more weeks of full-time work to go, geez.

Good wishes to everyone. :)

JambalayaCodfishPie · 02/03/2012 21:49

Balkan Me and DP start out antenatal classes tomorrow! I'm a little excited, hope we get a nice NCT group, it'd be good to have the social side of that after the birth. Smile

It's also DPs annual ball tomorrow night, so all in all will be a very long day - really hoping the insomnia of the past few nights doesn't kick in again! Am in bed now as I'm so exhausted!! Sad

OP posts:
DiffedAgainDachs · 03/03/2012 10:12

Hello :) Can I join? I know I'm v late to the party, but I lost twins in May last year at 20 weeks so it's only now I'm 32 weeks (well, 31+5 today, due date 30 April, team pink) with this pg that I'm really able to believe I'll actually get a baby this time.

Started ante-natal classes a couple of weeks ago and am slightly disappointed - I don't know if the group is just a slow starter but haven't got the whole 'we'll be buddies after this' vibe from anyone.

Have had a bit of a nightmare time at work with my boss, but only have four work days left now (two next week and two the following week) as I had loads of holiday left to take.

balkanscot · 03/03/2012 11:33

Jambalaya, how did you like your first NCT class? Good luck with the annual ball. :)

I am attending bog standard NHS Scotland classes, I like my MW (who holds them). There are only 4 couples in mine, haven't buddied yet but am not too bothered if we don't, I am sure there are other ways out there to meet other mums-to-be/mums. I am dead keen to give birth at this birth centre, fingers crossed.

I had to pop down to the shops this morning (husband away at some course), lugged juice, milk, fruit (OK, and a 150 g bag of crisps as well) up to the first floor, just about finished me off!

Putting socks and shoes on is slowly becoming science fiction, argh! And I think I will need to give up all thoughts of toe nail clipping for the next month or so. Blush

HollyPockett · 03/03/2012 16:10

laTriss just seen on another thread that you're going to Daren't Valley... Me too!!! Don't know consultant though as am MW led. I've always gone to the hospital for my MW appts, never saw the community MW - has anyone else?

I only woke up once last night for a wee, nothing short of a miracle.

Sorry to hear that you're all having sleeping issues too

Grin I felt that way, dachs, but after a few weeks we started organising lunches/coffees outside of the classes and despite not having much in common in other areas of our lives the whole impending labour thing did bring us together. The guys tried a few dads nights out too, but didn't bond as closely as the mums did as we spent so much more time together on Maternity Leave. I'm quite close to one of the mums and also see another couple of them maybe every few months or so.

My Ante-Natal course this time round consists of watching OBEM and occasionally flicking through my pregnancy bible.

Have spent today cleaning (broken up by a lovely lunch at the neighbours). God I miss my cleaner.

"My Ante-Natal course this time round consists of watching OBEM and occasionally flicking through my pregnancy bible."

Haha, ^^ This.
And trawling the MN childbirth forum of course Grin

HollyPockett · 04/03/2012 10:20

Beyond I hadn't ever clicked on to the childbirth forum before now. I have just spent the last 20 minutes reading this gem:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/childbirth/1417782-Tips-for-DH-during-labour-What-to-do-and-what-not-to-do?pg=1

Just brilliant :)

Today will see me trapped in the Diva's room stripping the lining paper that the stupid old lady that lived here before us had put up with industrial strength super glue

DiffedAgainDachs · 04/03/2012 10:57

:)

I think the guys have bonded better than the girls, so I'm hoping the whole lunch/coffee thing starts to happen when we're on mat leave as I was relying on NCT to provide me with a few mum mates!

Some of the things on that what to do/not do during labour thread are hilarious! I was reading some of them to DH and threatened him with divorce if he did some of them... I think I will print it out and take it to hospital when it comes around :)

newmummyvicky · 04/03/2012 21:13

I dont have any more anti-natal:( we just had a basic one off one at the hospital. So i wont be making any buddies! oh well i have a friend that due on march the 12th, we are pretty close. I May have to attented some classes after baby to make friends and meet other mums!? we do have a local childrens center near and i think they do playgroups for under 1s and its a health center too, so will be going there to get baby weighed!

We has a tour round our city hospital today in Bristol. Which was quite nice and i thought it had more facillity than our local one midwife run one. Which has only problem free births.
The labour rooms seem ok, and all have a en-suites with a bath if you want to go in it. The wards seem fine and have a 4 ladies to a room. You can pay for a private room for £50-£70 if u wanted a room on your own, with or without a en-suite.

What are your thought on a private room????
ive heard a lot of people say they cant sleep on the ward due to other people's babies crying and not there own!!! Envy

JambalayaCodfishPie · 04/03/2012 21:37

I had a private room after DD, it was a present from my DM, as I had to stay in 3 nights - best thing I ever did.

Unfortunately it's not an option this time round, they just don't offer them, so doing everything I can to avoid anything more than one night. Not even that if I can get away with it! Smile
