Happy Easter everyone. I wonder if anyone will have an Easter baby today.

Jambalaya You need to do whatever you can to make yourself feel more comfortable, glad you had the extra bath.

Spanner Hope you are ok. When is your next appt?

Marshmallow - How annoying if she has turned back. Oh well, she obviously knows her own mind!

Mummylivemade Am guessing you are having/have just had a baby. How exciting. Hope all goes/went well.

Hollypocket It does sound like it could be your body gearing up for labour. Good luck...

We came home yesterday afternoon - was so happy to be out of hospital. I had pretty good care on the whole but the good midwives really showed up the not-so-hot ones on the postnatal ward. During the caesarian I had a really lovely midwife looking after me and both a consultant surgeon and consultant anaesthetist and their students. My BP dipped after I got the spinal and I went a bit faint and woozy but they gave me something to bring it up again (this is quite common) and everything seemed to go well. Baby was a lot smaller than estimated. My 37 week scan estimated her weight at 7lb something then and two weeks later she was just 6lb. I was only measuring 36 cm at my last midwife appointment so I wasn't that surprised. Goes to show that growth scans are quite unreliable as Fliss always says.

She is a really lovely baby - very calm and contented. She doesn't like being put down - she did sleep on my chest most of last night and woke to feed every 2 to 3 hours. I'm sure as she gets bigger she'll spend more time awake. She's feeding well although it takes quite an effort to get her to open her mouth wide enough to latch on and even when I do she then spits out loads of boob and wants to just hang onto the nipple which isn't good. She must be getting plenty though because we have lots of wet and pooey nappies. And it's not hurting. She does have a very small mouth I guess. I might post over in the feeding topic and ask.

I had quite an interesting mix of people in my bay on the postnatal ward. A drug addict who had to have a maternity support worker with her 24 hours a day, a lady who had to come back 2 weeks after giving birth because she hadn't washed her stitches at all in those two weeks and (surprise!) got an infection and quite a few people who seemed happy to let their babies cry for hours in their bassinets without picking them up. And it wasn't that they couldn't as partners are allowed to stay 24 hours a day in postnatal. So yes, I was very happy indeed to get home. My friend came over yesterday afternoon and we have BIL and SIL driving down today and PILs on Tuesday. I'm in bed and the little one is asleep in her moses basket beside me.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 08/04/2012 10:21

Happy Easter! Still no signs of baby Beyond... Now 40+3. Wondering whether I'll go for induction...? Thinking not, it doesnt fit in with the hippy homebirther image I'm trying to project [buwink]

I'm more positive by the day that it's because I can't relax. But I'm already on ADs, what more can I do?! :(

My boobs have also perked up somewhat and gone a bit hard. I'd attributed it to DS not feeding (I dont think he likes the colostrum, I'll see if he wants to feed again once the milk comes in, but if not it's not the end of the world), but seems it could be labour related if others have it too?

Had a very good nights sleep last night for the first time in at least a few months! My mum said DS was an angel too, and is now having chocolate for his breakfast [bugrin]

Cutelittlecatlover · 08/04/2012 12:12

Hello everyone, 40+4 here and still no sign Sad . Congratulations to everyone who has already popped (although also very [buenvy] ) . I'm getting so impatient now, not helped by the constant phone calls and texts asking for news!

I'm booked for homebirth and have a doula on call, just need to hurry up and go into labour now! Good luck everyone and I hope at least one of us gets to have an extra special little easter present!

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 08/04/2012 13:12

I have a very twingey cervix. Baba is asleep, so its not him wiggling.

Please please please please please let this be the start of something!!!!!!

Emsgale · 08/04/2012 13:38

crucilflisspaps thanks for your advice this is number 2 for me my first was born at 39wks but it was a sat and I had a very poor exsperience with my epidural and was told by anestist that you get better staff etc on a weekday so I must admit id rather labour in a weekday anyway lol!!
I know I have plenty of time yet but for some reason im having a bit of a wobble about it all after a pretty awfull labour last time.

JambalayaCodfishPie · 08/04/2012 13:46

There must be something wrong with me, all of my Easter Eggs taste wierd! And I tried them all to check! Grin

justhayley · 08/04/2012 14:10

Ooo beyond twinges are good Grin hope it turns out to be the beginning of the end - keep us updated

Thaleia · 08/04/2012 14:29

Congratulations to the April April babies and very happy Easter!!

The neighbours did a Easter Egg Hunt with their children and friends this morning. They were SO excited, it was lovely!!

37+3 and feeling well. Hubby is doing some serious DIY and not in the best of mood. I feel ill from all the choc eggs I've already eaten. Maybe I should move on to the Haribos [buwink].

I think I'm still in denial about giving birth, after all, still 3 - 5 weeks to go. At some point I really, really need to give it some thought. On the plus side, I washed all the stuff we've been given - we have SO many socks!!

Does anyone live in a one-bed flat (and plans to stay there)? We've put the cot up as we need it for the changing unit and the whole bedroom needs reorganisation. I really, really hope we manage in here for the next 12-18 months, or is this really crazy? I'm a lot more worried about "privacy" than I was at the beginning, especially as we keep on hearing that so many move their kid to its on room by 3-6 months.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend ... with our without (yet) a little one [busmile]

digitalgirl · 08/04/2012 15:01

thaleia we're in a 2 bed house and we had ds in with us for the first six months. If you're worried about privacy for sex then I think it's much easier if it's just the one child - you can put them to bed then you have the rest of the flat at your disposal!
We even co-slept with ds for a while after he regressed his sleeping habits at 15 months and I still managed to conceive (not in our bed I hasten to add).

It'll be interesting to see at what point we can get the 2dc into the same bedroom. Hoping for some point between 6-8 months, but fully expecting it'll be at least a year.

Cutelittlecatlover · 08/04/2012 15:40

Ooh good luck beyond, twingey cervix sounds very encouraging!

Thalia we live in a really small 2 bed with 2yo ds and plan to be here until the baby is at least 1yo. Ds was in with us until he was 13 months as he was still waking lots in the night and wanting to bf. It wasn't what we'd initially planned but it was fine and as digitalgirl says theres always the rest of the flat Grin

I've just caught myself apologising to mil for the lack of baby news and thought wtf?! I'm feeling under so much pressure atm and really uncomfortable with the idea of people discussing me and wondering whats happening. Come on baby get out!

Pitmountainpony · 08/04/2012 16:17

Happy Easter everyone.
So am I the only one who was unaware you could buy swaddled blankets that are designed to swaddle? As in they have Velcro so the baby does not wriggle out......my dd is only waking once to feed in it....my ds woke every hour as we just swaddled in a blanket....

WhenDoISleep · 08/04/2012 16:33

thaleia we lived in a two bed flat when DS1 was born, but DSis had the second bedroom, so DS was in with us until we moved to a house when he was 16 months. It was fine, although I do think that DS disturbed our sleep and we disturbed him a little as he got older. We were also lucky that the bedroom was enormous, so we had plenty of room to still walk around even with the cot up.

Bunsouttheoven · 08/04/2012 17:59

Happy Easter one and all. Hoping those waiting to pop will do soon.

pit I swaddled dd & she loved it (& slept).
Tried to do the same with ds & he hated it & would not sleep.

Bought one of those velcro swaddle blankets for a fiver from tk max. Figured if this one likes it then I'll buy another & if not I've not lost a great deal.

bear both my dcs would only do very small mouths & never did the 'gape' when they were new borns. Think maybe it is because they are just small & ok especially if it's not making you sore. I just always fed them if they were awake or tried every couple of hours (allowing one gap of 5 hours in 24 if they would sleep that long). I mostly tried to keep to the aim of 10-12 feeds in 24 hours. Even with little mouths they managed to get enough.

For the record my boobs have also gone rather firmGrin

So i've got tomorrow & then going in on Tues for cs. So, so weird knowing the day ds will be born, especially having had two 'natural' births. Need to hoover the house & get some shopping in/load the freezer. Also want to attempt to shave my legs & remove nail varnish from toes (easier said than done).

VintageNancy · 08/04/2012 18:15

Happy Easter [busmile]

Nothing to report at 40+4. My mum arrives on Tuesday so maybe the presence of grandma will encourage baby to make an appearance.

We went to the cinema last night and I was almost convinced that something was happening but I was just too hot - went and got a cup of ice to cool down and felt loads better!

The cupboards are literally bare so off to do some shopping shortly.

Not long to wait now buns :)
Fingers crossed that the twinges are something beyond.

digitalgirl · 08/04/2012 19:14

Been having irregular bottom pains since lunch. Been to the loo to help relieve the pressure, but still hurts. Have been on all fours draped over ball in case it's the baby lying on a nerve. Feels like IBS pain, not my usual crampy bh. Not convinced this is how labour starts, but who knows. Have sent ds and dh out for a bike ride as ds was driving me bonkers (too much chocolate, not enough fresh air with the rain).

mummylivmade · 08/04/2012 19:33

Hi guys just checking in, happy Easter to you all! Was almost certain I would be having my little Easter bunny today had a burst of waters about 6am so it's been a waiting game all day, had a bath and even went for a 3 mile walk this afternoon, still nothing but minor niggles! Thought I had better call mw for advise so now up at the hospital waiting to be assessed! I really do hope this little monkey hurries up soon and stops messing us around!!

Tinwe · 08/04/2012 19:48

Hello all!

Just popping on to say hi and sending good vibes to all for healthy happy babies soon. No Easter babies yet? [busmile]

Like lots of people here we're fed up of being in limbo - overdue according to DD1s precedent but another week til official due date, could even be a fortnight after that! Don't feel we can go far and DH (on Easter hols) won't leave my side in case I have the super fast labour predicted. I'm not up to doing much of interest (like a long walk or full day out), DH doesn't want me to carry DD1 around or chase her crawling at lightening speed so he is doing that all and I feel like a boring burden. I hate feeling useless and I'm even starting to get grumpy which isn't like me. Filling my time buying unnecessary bargains on Ebay [bugrin] Any other suggestions for nonenergetic useful pre-labour activities?

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 08/04/2012 22:01

Still twingey, but nothing concrete. Going to have a little bounce on my ball in a mo...

Flisspaps · 08/04/2012 22:07

Beyond don't stay up too late bouncing, if this is it then you'll need your energy for later. Go to bed soon, actual labour won't stop if you go to sleep, in fact, a rest may be what your body needs to get things going Wink

Nordicmom · 08/04/2012 22:27

Congrats Bearcrumble !

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 08/04/2012 22:32

Only having a little bounce, am knackered tonight.

I guess I must have had loads of little twinges with DS too as labour was quick, I just didnt seem to notice them as much. I'm so impatient this time that I notice every little niggle!
My mum got baba and DS matching coats for Easter. So he has to come out to say thank you!! Grin

newmummyvicky · 08/04/2012 23:14

Hi I just thought id check in to say happy Easter. Im enjoying life with my baby girl lyra. She in sooooo cute and I love being mum. Didn't feel much like Easter Today and I didn't have any eggs :( but I don't need anything like that now.

Good luck to everyone having there babies soon, can't believe its nearly a week since I went in labour. Body is still recovering from Wednesday.
I had a long labour but so worth it, when U hold them and kiss them x :-D :-D

digitalgirl · 08/04/2012 23:24

Twinges have turned into contractions every 10-15 minutes. Am resting in bed till my mum gets here (45 mins away) to mind ds. Then think we might head to hospital if they ramp up anymore. Dh asleep!

Emsgale · 08/04/2012 23:49

digitalgirl
