Thinking of you Spanner, hope all goes okay. Best they monitor you though hey.

digitalgirl · 06/04/2012 14:03

Good luck spanner, glad you're being monitored.

pitmountainpony sorry to hear things have been tense with dh, hopefully the apology is the start of him learning to control his temper. You must feel exhausted, good you've got reinforcements turning up soon! I'm very much going to be relying on my mum for the first few weeks. I haven't bothered batch cooking anything as she's such a feeder.

Been for a sloooow walk round the park and funfair with ds this morning - currently sat with my swollen feet up, waiting for dh to serve lunch [bugrin]

notso · 06/04/2012 15:38

Hello all.
Trying not to read too much into it but had a show this morning and MW has just been and head is engaged, thought it was as I can breathe when I'm sitting down, feeling lots of pressure and can feel my hip bones pushing outwards.
DH has taken DC out for the day MW said either get on the ball and see if you can start something off or put your feet up, I have chosen to put my feet up!
Just had a nap, and watched Teen Mom 2.

Totally unprepared if anything does kick off this weekend, was planning on defrosting the freezer and batch cooking next week!

Quite gutted she told me that it is doubtful anyone would agree to let me deliver in the pool as I am under consultant care, but she said I could possibly labour in it then get out to deliver. She did say I could ask for the consultant to say they don't think it would be risky for me to use the pool, but usually they like you to be released from CLC for a waterbirth.

Sorry you have to go back in spanner hope all well.

CruciFlisspaps · 06/04/2012 15:48

Pitmountain as long as it's not a regular occurrence Smile Enjoy that little baby sleeping on you, DH is looking forward to that bit the most Grin

CruciFlisspaps · 06/04/2012 15:55

spanner bugger!

notso if you get in the pool and then won't get out for the birth, then there's nothing they can actually do to make you.

If the MW with you at the time is sensible then she won't argue with you to get out simply because that's likely to inhibit your progress anyway.

I should be under consultant care but declined from the start, but SoM didn't bat an eyelid when I told her that I planned to have a waterbirth and would probably get out for the third stage.

Nothing more here. Well, a slightly dodgy stomach and lots of pressure and BH but no pain or actual ctx. No regularity to anything (other than trips to the loo for another wee) DC has hiccups which is interesting ATM as he/she is definitely lower than before. Refuse to even contemplate anything earlier than 18 April though as that's the full 42w for me.

spannermary · 06/04/2012 16:02

Thanks for all the good wishes! Have had more monitoring and blood tests...all still negative despite slight possibility of infection. Nothing major though. Doc very sensibly suggested cancelling my 40+2 mw appointment and coming straight here instead - as it's pretty likely my bp will be raised and they'll send me here anyway. This way at least I can queue jump and we know where we stand, and the staff here can monitor me and do regular 40 week stuff.

Just waiting for a prescription for my angry red tummy now and then under orders to go home and relax. I can do that!

How exciting your baby is engaged! Still waiting here... Smile

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 06/04/2012 16:19

Had my appt, baba is now 3/5 engaged rather than 4/5 which he has been for the last month or so. So fingers crossed he wont be long now...

My mum and dad have offered to have DS tonight for us to relax, and DH has got a few beers in. So that's probably a guarantee that I'll go into labour instead! [bugrin]

Bunsouttheoven · 06/04/2012 16:24

Glad you've got to come home spanner

pitmountain Haven't read what has happened in your household but suffice to say we struggle in the Buns residence with the temporary role reversal that a newborn brings. DP has a very short tolerance for being relied upon to do the multi tasking of house/children duties. Good at playing with the kids, not so good at washing/fooding/houseworking that is continual frankly never bloody ending I also struggle with not being able to get on with stuff for myself. However, it is a short lived period in the scheme of thingsSmile

I am feeling a bit sorry for myself, ds has been unwell for a few days so super needy & adding to my lack of sleep. DP has checked his blood pressure & it is raised. He has been going on about feeling weird for weeks but contrary to my advice has not been to the drs, just goes on about it. Now he's feeling very worried about himself, the poor thing is very stressed about work & my imminent csHmm

Ah, just wondering when I get to be looked after?

marshmallowpies · 06/04/2012 16:28

I have spent all day in hospital waiting to have an ECV as baby had turned again & was oblique.

She is now head down (I hope!) after a lot of oweeeeeees from me, but they now want to check my glucose levels as extra fluid in womb (which is what's been allowing baby to keep turning) could be a sign of GD. However urine test at GPs yesterday was fine & all have been fine so far. V strange.

Pitmountainpony · 06/04/2012 17:56

Ah marshmallow....I am sure they will work out what is going on and you will be holding that gorgeous baby soon.

Buns...glad I am not the only one....my otherwise fantastic dh is very intolerant of being asked to do too any domestic tasks.....apparently itvis the way I ask him that sets him off......and I have to ask three times often which is draining in tself....and of course when you are tired you are more irritable and your own tolerance goes down for it being such hard work to get what needs done done.
Women just seem to be better at doing stuf they are asked to do especially round the house.we had massive fight...verbal... two days after returning home from c section. But you make up move on and all you can do is look at what you are responsible for I casing the conflict as you cannot change people.we are enjoying our baby and about to go to a beautiful park for a picnic in the sunshine.....these days are too precious to fritter....but sometimes the stress affects us all in ways we are later very sorry for. Buns hoping someone comes to give you some tlc soon......relatives maybe?

Uglymush · 06/04/2012 19:38

Thanks Jambalaya I hate the whole 'chart' thing. Our babies are unique they don't all grow the same, feed the same, cry the same, etc. So why do they have to be pinned down to a bloody chart!

PJ still hasn't put on enough weight and isn't back to his birth weight. He is 2 weeks old on Sunday so our County midwives are worried. My midwife was trained out of county so she isn't worried until 3 weeks! - Argh

Congrats to all the new mums and dads out there

WhenDoISleep · 06/04/2012 20:56

uglymush there is so much stress placed on new mums to get the baby back to birth weight as quickly as possible, when stress is the last thing you need. As you say not all babies are the same and just because a baby is born on a particular line on the chart, it does not necessarily mean that is their 'natural line' iyswim. That starting line shows how good the placenta was at nurishing the baby in-utero, not that 'this is the line that baby must follow from now on or else'. It could be baby PJ is dropping to find the natural line he will follow. Your MW sounds nice and sensible - I'm guessing that she is looking at the whole baby (healthy, happy, enough wet/dirty nappies etc.) and not just holding the chart up to be the be all and end all. Don't forget the feeding board on here (if you haven't already popped over) - there are some amazing ladies on there who give fantastic advice and help if you have any specific concerns.

Buns hope you get some tlc soon. When is your CS scheduled? Can you get DH packed off to the GP on Tuesday - you don't really need to be worrying about him behaving like an ostrich about his health when you have a newborn and major surgery to recover from. He should be trying to take as much of the burden from you as possible, not adding to it.

marshmallow Hope DD decides that headdown is the way to be from now on.

Beyond ah, tempting fate by planning a nice relaxing evening - plus it is a full moon as well!

spannermary glad you are home again.

CruciFlisspaps · 07/04/2012 08:16

40+3, no news, but every day that passes is one closer to a guaranteed baby!

spannermary · 07/04/2012 08:54

That's the spirit, Fliss! good thing too, as far as I'm concerned. My stretch marks are so inflamed: think I'm allergic to the little man! (DH picking up prescription later) 39+6 and he seems as comfy as ever in there... Getting impatient to meet him!

justhayley · 07/04/2012 09:07

Grin congratulations to everyone who's had their April babies. looks like confused and yummymummy could be our next two Smile
Today I reached the full term Mark woo - 37 weeks and feel like I have forever. I need another week to get organised then I'm ready to meet the new man in my life - who I'm sure is currently trying to escape out the side of my tummy!

off to get my hair done today and would like to get a pedi as I can't get to my toes anymore. It's my birthday Tuesday - not that I'm doing anything really but thought I'd at least make myself feel half human.

Digitalgirl: acupuncture is fab, iv been having it throughout pregnancy - during my last session I could feel bubba engaging. It's really relaxing & will sort out an little niggels your having. For me it totally cured my sore hips, and has helped with sleep Smile the next sessions I'm having are all to induce labour - not sure how effective it will be but it's worth a try. What's nice is my midwife really believes it works so has been really encouraging and telling me all about the benefits & best weeks to have it. Relax lay back & enjoy it.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 07/04/2012 10:42

Fliss that's what I'm telling myself too. Am a little annoyed that at this point with DS, I was just getting to hospital in labour though... [buenvy]

Yep, it's morning now after my mum had DS to try to trick baba out. And guess what? No baba. Lots of random niggley pains, but nothing more.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 07/04/2012 10:46

I've decided I'm too stressed from knicker-checking and general labour-wondering [bugrin]

I'm going to have a bubble bath and see if I can relax this baby out...?

LaTristesse · 07/04/2012 10:58

As an aside while you're waiting ladies, bookmark the shiny new post-natal thread here. Here's to some Easter bubba news from some of you soon... Smile

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 07/04/2012 11:58

Oo, cheers, have marked my place :)

Reckoning now that I'll go into labour as soon as my mum drops DS home again... (If I keep guessing, at some point I'm bound to be right!! [bugrin])

Just eating my leftover kebab from last night, then off to have my bubbley bath

Bananna1 · 07/04/2012 12:08

Nursing bras - My town is rubbish and only one store stocks them - and doesn't have any in my size to try on (am an amazing 40 E/F, not sure how that happened!) So don't yet have any.
Has anyone bought one online? And then did they fit or did you have to send them back? Just can't be bothered with the palaver! Or have any particular brands they'd recommend?
I have two jobs today - ordering bras and trying out car seat. Must accomplish one of them at least!

Hope you are all having a relaxing Easter weekend [bugrin]

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 07/04/2012 12:10

I measured myself then bought expensive bras for cheap on ebay when I had DS. Still wearing them now, and will do the same when I need new :)

They fit fine though, so didnt have to worry about sending back palaver

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 07/04/2012 12:13

(btw, my bras that I wore in the few weeks after having DS were a 40E too [bugrin] still in a 38DD at the moment, but they're waiting in my underwear drawer...)

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 07/04/2012 12:14

NOW I'm going to get in the bath

gives self "most posts by one poster" award for my contribution this morning!

mummylivmade · 07/04/2012 13:25

bananna1 I bought some nursing bras from m&s online and they fit well, also been told John Lewis ones are good!
After the non events on wednesday, I had decided to give up any hope of DC3 putting in an early appearance like DD2 but have woken up this am to my show and some early niggles so hopefully things will get a move on!!!

LaTristesse · 07/04/2012 13:59

The NCT do a home measuring service for nursing bras. I got some awesome Bravado ones from them last time which I wore for 2 years and are still going strong. They are SO comfy. You can get details of the service on their website.
