Bearcrumble · 05/04/2012 15:00

Marianne was born this morning at twenty past eleven weighing six pounds exactly. Thanks for all the good wishes.

lizmarshmallow · 05/04/2012 15:08

I can't believe I missed 3 babies! Congrats to you all and for those being sectioned soon, good luck!

Hip still sore at night notso only the right one, not sure what it's doing!

Finally started packing my bag and started washing a few things. Did everyone take the labels off the clothes also?

mummylivmade · 05/04/2012 15:09

Congrats bearcrumble glad all safe and well

lizmarshmallow · 05/04/2012 15:10

x post bearcrumble - more congratulations are in order!

spannermary · 05/04/2012 15:11

Congratulations, bearcrumble! And what a beautiful name. :)

notso · 05/04/2012 15:27

Yay! congratulations Bearcrumble

What a Babyfest we have today!

lizmarshmallow my hip is still dicky too, it's not great at the best of times TBH but definately 'dickier' in pregnancy.

Well MW but not MY MW is coming tomorrow for BP check, which means DH will have to take DC out without me unless she comes early.
Scan is booked for Tues at 9:30, I then have to lurk around the hospital until scan review with consultant at 1:30 (if clinic is on time). I am now frantically trying to find a baby sitter as I don't want to be dragging three DC with me as well.

WhenDoISleep · 05/04/2012 15:29

Congratulations bearcrumble - beautiful name

lizmarshmallow I took the labels of the very first things that I had for DS1 (vests and half a dozen babygros) but tbh never had time (or was very bothered) to do it for anything I bought afterwards. I have some new items for this DC and won't be removing the labels - unless they are very scratchy I don't see the point. It also makes it harder to identify what size clothes are if you put them away for any future DC.

CruciFlisspaps · 05/04/2012 15:34

bearcrumble Congratulations Grin enjoy your beautiful daughter!

lizmarshmallow Do you mean the sewn in size labels? I don't know of anyone who has taken those off!

lizmarshmallow · 05/04/2012 16:09

notso I think every joint in my body cracks and it's when I can't crack my hip that it's getting painful when lying down!

A few things I've read suggests to take the sewn on labels off, but I agree WhenDoISleep, I plan on keeping the clothes and wouldn't know what is what. Fliss It's good to know everyone does everything a bit differently, I'm worried I won't do "something" right.

digitalgirl · 05/04/2012 16:31

congratulations on the arrival of baby Marianne bearcrumble!! Hope your CS recovery goes well!
Thick and fast now, ladies!

Had my acupuncture session. The lady reckons we should aim for a Tuesday delivery - ha! Would like to see how accurate she is! I've had acupuncture before, for my long cycles and it did help to regulate them. I also had it in the first trimester, so I am a believer in it. But I also think - it will only help if this baby is ready. There must be some empirical evidence that it helps if the nhs are willing to pay for sessions.

I'd quite happily go for an Easter baby as hopefully it would mean we can park in the staff carpark at the hospital (which is full during working hours and the only parking on the nearby streets are maximum 2hr stay).

fliss my MIL wants to visit next Wednesday so I'm really hoping to inconvenience her by having to cancel (she just bloody sits there).

liz didn't ever take any of the sewn in labels out. Didn't ever occur to me that they would irritate DS.

spanner well done on the sleep - makes all the difference I think.

Bananna1 · 05/04/2012 17:13

Wonderful news Bearcrumble and gorgeous, gorgeous name. Hope you are being able to have lots of cuddles in hospital :)

I seem to be going into meltdown today - an emotional wreck, not able to cope with anyone or anything. Have come to the end of my tether with living in a mucky, noisy, disruptive building site full of workmen. Initially he predicted the loft would take 7 weeks, which meant it should have finished tomorrow. I think that's what I had prepared for mentally and now that it is running over by about 3 weeks, I can't cope. Being predicted an early birth, baby has done well to stay in until now, and now it will come during the build I just can't imagine bringing a baby home to a house full of builders, plasterers, plumbers etc

Arghhhhhhhhhh, I feel like I'm going mad!!

Anyway, HUGE apologies for my rant - like I say, I'm an emotional wreck today. Sorry :(

VintageNancy · 05/04/2012 17:25

Woooooooooo congrats Bearcrumble, I love her name :).

Bananna - you are entitled to rant! I hate mess and dust and I can't imagine how you must be feeling. :(

Digi - I might ask my midwife or doula about acupuncture depending on how the next few days go. My MW reckons I might be hanging on for my Mum to get here (she arrives Mon eve).

Hope you all have lovely long Easter weekends - this is one holiday we don't get here so DH at work as usual tomorrow and Monday. Well unless he's on paternity leave of course...

UsPlusYou · 05/04/2012 17:48

Congratulations, bearcrumble, what lovely news!

Bananna, sorry to hear things are stressful at home with all the building work going on - I hate mess too so would definitely think a rant was well deserved if it was me!

thepuddingchef · 05/04/2012 17:51

congrats Bearcrumble! Lovely name Smile

spannermary · 05/04/2012 17:57

Bananna I nearly cried because DH hadn't hung his coat up.

You are a saint. Rant away!

CruciFlisspaps · 05/04/2012 19:15

lizmarshmallow there's very little that you can't do 'right' (or rather, that you can do 'wrong') so don't worry about that. Just because people do things differently it doesn't make anything necessarily wrong unless it's something downright dangerous, like strapping the car seat to the roof rack or putting baby to sleep in an old fridge in the shed or something, and even then someone on MN will argue that it's not wrong Grin

If you worry about doing something wrong then you end up tying yourself in knots needlessly. If you want to cut labels off stuff, then go for it. Don't worry about what anyone else does :)

bananna1 Sorry you're having a crappy day :( We're here to be ranted at, so you carry on! It's still possible that the loft will be done before your baby arrives anyway - you've 2 and a half weeks until your EDD (fabulous day for a birthday if I do say so myself!) so if you manage to go a few days over (are you listening baby bananna?!) then Mr Loft Man should be done and he can bog off and take all of his mess with him :)

JambalayaCodfishPie · 05/04/2012 19:44

Congratulations bearcrumble!!

I like your thinking Fliss thank you, it cheered me up :) ( Are you listening baby bananna??!!)

lizmarshmallow · 05/04/2012 20:18

thanks Fliss, you've also cheered me up and reassured me. I just know that everyone will have opinion on what they've think is best and I'm sure they'll be quick to tell me.

Looks like I better go get a cot as maybe that fridge wasn't the best idea for a bed!

Pitmountainpony · 06/04/2012 10:30

So many girls!! Bear grumble...congrats to you and yes a. Great name!!
Liz....you do what you want....people are less opinionated than you expect aside from the big things like cot versus co sleeping ........fourth night at home and finally my dh got the cot from the garage last night and we clearedcthevlaundry left on the line when I went into labour last week.......my husband had not noticed it.
We are loving having a baby again......but the tiredness is so stressful
We have had more than a couple of very tense arguments....it was like this last time.....hard to rely on someone for everything and hard for them to be relied upon......but such is life sometimes.

CruciFlisspaps · 06/04/2012 10:43

pitmountainpony Sad I read one of your posts elsewhere the other day - just because your DH is tired from the new baby that does not excuse his attitude, especially if you're the one up through the night BF and the one who has actually physically given birth. A few tense words in the early newborn days isn't the same as being an arse. Don't let him behave like a toddler because it's not on.

LaTristesse · 06/04/2012 10:56

Woo, new April babies- well done everyone, it's lovely to read all your updates. I toyed with starting a post-natal thread but my iPad isn't playing ball... I'll try again later unless someone beats me to it- I take it we're up for staying in touch as the babies grow?

If anyone is adding to the stats list please could you add in my DD's name- we called her Lilou (and that will clearly out me if anyone from RL is on here!) Good luck and patient vibes to all of you still cooking... Smile

CruciFlisspaps · 06/04/2012 11:13

Absolutely on a PN thread, saved my sanity with DD! Grin

Pitmountainpony · 06/04/2012 12:27

Thanks Cruciflipflaps.

Well I was trying to make the point in that post that people are not perfect....even good people can behave in ways that we find undesirable and even ugly and especially when they are under stress.......my dh has a temper and will lose it vervpbally if he feels pushed to his limit which he obviously did......and yes he will behave like a toddler in those moments but there is not a lot I can do to control it, aside from explain it is not acceptable and request he not speak likecthat to me again. I agree that when someone behaves badly you do not ignore it address it. But the fact is we can all behave badly at times and someoneis more than their worst behaviour.
He was rightly apologetic and you move on and learn to negotiate around the more thorny aspects of your partner,s character, if you find the rest of the person as you would wish in a human being.
I do thinkit useful for people to know that for some couples, a new baby.....well just kids full stop does bring pressures upon you as a couple that may cause frictions not normally there....that shocked me first time round but now I recognize it. I am just glad my mum arrives in next few weeks as I will appreciate her help.... I think some men just find it very hard to do all the practical stuff that comes with a baby and mum being out of action due to surgery......and my dh as lovely as he is normally is one of those men, used to me doing that stuffvsoi need to ask for everything in extreme detail as he does not seem to know where anything is or notice thingscthatvi an see could cause a problem.
Thanks for your concern though.
My baby is sleeping but I can,t....arrrrghhhhhh what a waste!!

spannermary · 06/04/2012 12:30
