UsPlusYou · 04/04/2012 14:28

Hi everyone, hope you don't mind me joining in but I've just discovered this thread :)

I'm 29 (30 on Sun!) and I have a DD who turns 2 in May. I'm 38+6 with a little yellow bump and I too am already being driven insane by maternity leave since my DD still sleeps for at least 2hrs a day so I'm stuck indoors whilst it's lovely and sunny out. The house is all clean, hospital bags are all packed and there's only so much Jeremy Kyle one can watch before losing the will to live! Wink

JambalayaCodfishPie · 04/04/2012 15:11

Hi Ladies,

The threads moving so fast now - cant wait to hear about our first April born!

I met the consultant today due to static growth - and had a scan. All good, baby just going to be a smaller one (7lb max), no reasons for it. Phew. Grin Had visions of inductions and interventions and my whole birth plan going out of the window............. Im happy now after a week of worrying. :)

Also, school breaks up tomorrow lunchtime, so I'll be on holiday, although not technically on maternity until 2 days before my DD. Im grateful as I was starting to lose my patience a bit with the kids. Blush

We're all ready for the arrival anyway, whenever he/she wants to make an appearance, we'll be waiting. Apart from socks, I need to buy socks.... Grin

Wine Good Luck Everyone!!! Wine

Nordicmom · 04/04/2012 15:33

Good luck spanner !

notso · 04/04/2012 15:42

Best of luck spannermary

Hello and welcome UsPlusYou

Glad all was well for you Jambalaya

Just got back from a knackering trip into town and realised I have forgotten to buy cheese an essential for dinner tonight, phoned DD (11) who is shopping with her friends and asked her to get me some, she practically cried and called me outragous for making her smell like cheeseHmm. Made me realise the babybit is the easiest part of parenthood by far!.
We went to the library on the way back where DS2 crawled round at top speed, a 'helpful' woman told me I shouldn't be lifting children in my condition, I said if she had any suggestions on how to get him off the floor without lifting him I'd gladly listen, needless to say she snootily walked off tutting.
Shame she had no solution because my back is killing from lifting him all the time!

UsPlusYou · 04/04/2012 15:56

Just read back and wanted to wish spannermary good luck! My friend had PE and was induced - she had a lovely healthy little girl and recovered very well very quickly herself.

Thanks for the welcome notso, MN is keeping me entertained since my DD is still asleep (3.5hrs later)...

VintageNancy · 04/04/2012 16:15

The text messages and Facebook messages have begun... no I haven't had a baby yet. Had a second night full of BHs though.

Hope all is okay spanner, thinking of you.

Just woken up and can't remember anyone else to name check. Hope everyone else is ok too.

Oh yes people (MIL mainly) kept telling me I'd be early. Clearly not.

Flisspaps · 04/04/2012 17:17

Vintage - send this link as a reply to texts and as your FB status:

Not that I've been updating FB with that daily for the last week already...Wink

spannermary · 04/04/2012 18:02

So I'm back home Smile It feels good!

Thank you all for your wishes - it really made a difference to me. I went to the hospital and they checked my bp over the course of an hour. It stayed pretty high (about 140/90) but when they took blood samples they came back as negative for PE, so the Doctor said the high bp, flashing lights and headache could be a sign of migraine. The protein mysteriously vanished from my urine when they took a second sample too. The White cells are still there, so they're looking into that and will get back to me if they need to. Could be a UTI. Ankles etc all fine.

Midwife is now planning an extra home visit on Good Friday to check bp and urine again.

I felt very well looked after - although I too find the whole 'let's draw this curtain; then no-one else can hear' thing a bit bizarre!

Am now home and have demolished a portion of chip shop fish & chips, which may not lower my bp but certainly really helped. So good to know the baby's doing well. Smile even if he's still not engaged!

Hopefully I'll sleep better tonight now. (And the snow's melting too - and our heating is back up and running so I'm much more content)

Thanks again, everyone. And sorry for the mammoth post.

Congrats to pitmountainpony and aprilfools.

DS and I had a lovely afternoon with a friend and her little boy. The boys played well together and I got to snuggle with her baby girl who is ten weeks now - I had forgotten how lovely, soft and squidgey babies are at that age!

37+1 for me now and still not ready although things are progressing - managed to get the baby clothes out of the loft at the weekend and am slowly getting them washed, so at least the baby has something to wear now. Still not got the crib - but have now actually ordered it. Not that much of a disaster though if the baby comes before the crib as our pram carry cot is suitable for sleeping and the cot is down in the nursery as well (although in bits, plus I really think we need a new matress). TBH, if things did happen before crib/cot matress arrive, DH will be on the sofa and baby and I will co-sleep.

I must pack my hospital bag as well this weekend, but I have been saying that for the last month.

CruciFlisspaps · 04/04/2012 20:06

spannermary I told you you'd be fine Wink Very pleased that it's not PE.

aprilfoolsbaby Massive congratulations :) Our first April 'April' baby!

Vintage the downside to me posting it every day is that as soon as I'm any later than 6pm posting it on FB people think there's something happening Hmm Still, as long as I get on there and do it then it keeps the annoying well meaning questions at bay!

Feel very zen today - think it's because only 5% of babies come on their EDD, so I knew there was only a 5% chance of having the baby today, and therefore it was Not Very Likely.

Tinwe · 04/04/2012 20:14

Congratulations April!

UsPlusYou · 04/04/2012 20:18

Congratulations aprilfools, what lovely news! And I'm glad it was positive news for you too spannermary, hope you feel better soon - the chippy chips should definitely help! ;)

VintageNancy · 04/04/2012 20:23

I like that 5% stat Fliss - I will have to remind DH of that as he's worse than the lot of them! Grin

Bunsouttheoven · 04/04/2012 20:24
