Uglymush Rant away!

As long as you're feeding DS at least every 4 hours, then don't worry. Any less frequently than that and he'll probably be too sleepy to feed effectively. As long as he's putting on something then he should be fine :) Don't forget, MWs and HVs can see the lines on the chart, he can't Wink

JambalayaCodfishPie · 03/04/2012 21:08

UglyMush, I spent the first year of my daughters life being made to feel guilty because she didn't follow the lines on the chart.

She was just small at first, but perfectly formed and very happy. She's tall for age now, still perfect, still happy. Grin

Is anybody awake? I am in labour. My contractions started at 20:30 today, it is getting tense but slow progress.. Hope all will end soon

digitalgirl · 04/04/2012 00:43

Good luck El32! Have you gone into hospital or are you at home?

lizmarshmallow · 04/04/2012 00:45

I'm awake, got awful hip pain. How exciting that everything has started for you. Grin

VintageNancy · 04/04/2012 00:47

Oooh exciting El32! Good luck :)

Nordicmom · 04/04/2012 00:55

Good luck EL32

mummylivmade · 04/04/2012 06:42

Hi just after some advice please, I seem to be slowly losing some of my waters, started trickling yesterday morning after a rather non blood stained ? Show, with dd2 my fore waters broke 24hrs before labour started so did inform mw, I know it seems silly but I'm not sure what to do this time!! No pains as such just the odd tightening. Confused

Flisspaps · 04/04/2012 08:14

mummylivmade call the MW. They will want to check it is your waters, and then advise and offer induction 24 hours after you think they've gone.

Some places wait up to 72-96 hours before offering induction. It's up to you whether you take it or not, taking into account if you're showing signs of infection or how baby is doing (movements, heart rate etc) even if they say 'we have to induce after 24 hours'

Pitmountainpony · 04/04/2012 08:55

Good luck E132

I hope for a smooth as poss time ahead......and look forward to news of your little one arriving safely. Mummyliv".......not long nwHow exciting....

Tinwe · 04/04/2012 09:07

So many people on here now and on my phone so hard to name check.

Good luck to all those in labour, being CS'd or whose waters have broken.

Congrats to anyone I've missed who has now had their bubba Grin

I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself at the mo as I STILL have the remains of a cold and Bean II seems to be bobbing around from low down (giving me back and hip aches and stabby crotch pains to stop me sleeping) and back up under my ribs to stop me enjoying breathing or eating. With DD I had SPD so did have aches and pains but she arrived quite early without warning, without any of this on/off-ness caused by my now knackered tummy muscles.

On a lighter note DH (who is suffering almost as much as me, on red alert every time I wince) paniced last night as he came to bed and found me laid in bed in a puddle, moaning. He was all ready for labour when I had to inform him it was just that my hot water bottle had leaked :)

notso · 04/04/2012 09:58

Good luck to El32 and mummylivmade

lizmarshmallow I have really bad hip pain as well, I could do with someone turning me over regularly while I sleep!

Tinwe Grin at your watery incident. My DH is also on red alert, I keep hissing at him that I'll let him know if it's labour.

Miserable day here rainy/sleety/snowy/slush, and I have to go into town with 3 (well 4 if you count the one within!) DC in tow - joy!

Still waiting to hear from ultrasound and Midwife. I think if I haven't heard from the scan people tomorrow I will have to cancel 38 week consultant appointment on Tuesday as the point of it was to discuss the scan.

I keep thinking that Ped will put in an appearance next week as DC3 was born at 38 weeks.
I have to stop as I will probably end up being disappointed, DC1 was born on DDate and DC2 was 8 days overdue so it's not really a sure thing anyway.

Hope all have a good day today especially those in the process of meeting their newborns.

spannermary · 04/04/2012 11:34

Ok quite stressed. 39+3. Just been to GP and he's sending me to hospital with poss(prob) pre-eclampsia. Argh - what foes this mean? All my research is put the window:have no idea what to expect!

Flisspaps · 04/04/2012 11:37

spannermary They'll do blood and urine tests and put you on a BP monitor probably.

If it is pre-eclampsia, then the only way to sort it is to have your baby, whether they'd want to induce or do a CS I don't know. They might suggest you stay in, be monitored and see if you go into labour yourself seeing as you're term anyway.

If it's not, then you'll go home :)

spannermary · 04/04/2012 11:45

Thanks Fliss - bp was 150/97 and have 2+ protein in urine and migraine type symptoms so could be. So now I need to think about whether I would want cs or induction. Getting a bit real now! Also we have 6" snow here! Today of all days!

spannermary · 04/04/2012 11:46

That was at GP - have headed home to get notes and bag - then going in! Wish us luck!

marshmallowpies · 04/04/2012 11:47

Good luck spannermary, am sure being in hospital & getting lots of support/advice there is the best place to be...especially at 39+3. One of my NCT group was admitted in a similar situation and baby was born at 5am the following morning, so you could be nearly there...

Although hope you are not sitting around bored too much, take a stack of books & magazines.

Flisspaps · 04/04/2012 11:51

spannermary There might not be a huge amount of choice involved - with PE it's probabl that induction will raise your BP higher anyway, unless you have an epidural which will lower it, but that could give you a headache and then how would they know if it was PE or the epidural causing the headache (just thinking out loud here) and as induction takes days in some cases....hmm.

Anyway, you're going to go in, be absolutely fine and be back home in a jiffy. Try to relax as otherwise your BP will be up anyway from the stress (ha, she says, relax!) My BP was up to 180/80 at one point, with protein in my urine and it turned out to be nothing.

And if it is PE, you're going to have your baby sooner rather than later either way rather than having another possible 3 weeks to wait!

GOOD LUCK :)

Thaleia · 04/04/2012 11:55

Is this for real - it's already the 4th April and no baby has been born this month? Better hurry up now Grin !!

Brought my ML forward by one week, so it'll be two weeks before my due date. To be honest, I thought the last 2 weeks will be a cakewalk now it feels like a death march.

Everybody tells me, I'm going to be early. Really worried about that as the we want to kick-start things over Easter and afterwords, I'd really like to have at least another week pottering around before the grand arrival.

Thought I post something first but well read all the entries in my lunch break (if there is one).

Flisspaps · 04/04/2012 11:56

Thaleia I'd love to know how all these people KNOW you're going to be early Wink

Bananna1 · 04/04/2012 12:18

It's all hotting up now isn't it - but as Thaleia said, no April baby just yet (that we know of!).

I thought mine was starting last night, but luckily it all died down and nothing yet. Like you Thaleia, everyone says I'm going to be early, but you're right Flisspaps, how do they KNOW?!

I cancelled seeing friends today as felt so rubbish. My plan being to take it as easy as possible and do nothing, apart from cook dinner. That's it!!

Good luck all those who in action now. Very exciting Grin

mummylivmade · 04/04/2012 13:50

Thanks guys took your advise and called mw to check they advised me to go in for monitoring as almost 24hrs since first trickle! Sorry tmi! Just got home as dr doesn't think it is waters which is good news I suppose as no need to have induction but slightly worrying that I don't know where it's coming from!! Examination has left me walking like John Wayne and very uncomfortable so hopefully it's a sign of things to start! Will keep you posted.

confuzed90 · 04/04/2012 14:00

Hope everyone is ok! And spannernanny I hope your ok! I got pre-eclampsia towards the end of my previous pregnancy, well I was overdue, 41 weeks and got sent straight to hospital, had blood test which confirmed pre-eclampsia and was induced straight away. But all went well. I had a natural birth which went ok.

HollyPockett · 04/04/2012 14:19

I'm now 39 weeks and quite frankly done with being pregnant! Ready for the Diva to make her appearance. I'm on day 4 of mat leave and I am bored! Too much walking is uncomfy as she's really dropped, the house is sparkling from top to bottom and there's only so much tv I can watch. :)

So glad that we don't have snow here, I bloody hate snow!

Good luck spammermary hope all goes well

Flisspaps · 04/04/2012 14:22

40w antenatal appt done. Sweep declined - was surprised to be offered today as wasn't expecting to be asked until next week. Two lovely, sensible MWs today, no daft questions Grin

DC's head had started to engage and MW couldn't get it to come back out so hopefully I won't need my 41w appointment (pfft)
