Can I ask you all a question regarding bloody show?I'm 36+5 Well basically..I lost mucus stuff (non bloody) a while ago and kept losing it. Anyway yesterday evening I started with low back pain (that different from the usual). Been feeling sicky today, 2 loose bw(tmi sorry!) And about an hour ago I went to the toilet and wiped and there was bloody mucusy stuff on tissue..I got very excited!ran straight and told DP, bless woke him as he's nights! Then had a bath..is it normal to not have anymore bloody stuff afterwards?I know many haven't had their babies yet congratulations to them who have!! But maybe you could inform me a bit more.. I am still having back pain but nothing that is really bad.

SandyChick · 02/04/2012 19:57

With ds1 I had a bloody show just over a week before he arrived. I went 6 days over. It was a little bit of jelly then a big blob of brown/red jelly and that was it.

This time I've had loads of back pain then tummy cramps/mild contractions for over a week but no show etc. I'm due on thurs.

UniPsychle · 02/04/2012 20:13

So, tomorrow, all being well, Baby Uni will be here. Weird feeling. Been for clerking today and discovered that I now weigh a massive 81 kilos, bugger. Have to go in for 7.30 tomorrow and they will hopefully fit me in sometime in the day, depending on whether they have many emergencies or not.

Oddly enough, I feel quite serene about it. First time I've felt like this this pregnancy, I've generally been an anxious emotional wreck. I'm not bothered about the op, more worried about sitting around being really really hungry as I'm not allowed to eat after midnight tonight and could end up hanging about all day.

May not post for a few days as do not have fancy phone. Good luck to all those waiting, see you on the other side...

digitalgirl · 02/04/2012 20:49

Good luck unipsychle! V Envy that you know you get to meet your baby tomorrow!

confuzed my only experience of losing my mucus plug was when I was already in labour! Hope it's not too far away for you.

fliss I suspect you're right with all the old wives tales of how to bring on labour. I did nothing to bring on labour with ds (well, maybr i ate half a pineapple) and he came at 36+5.

Have been quite busy today - pottering around the house. Cleaned the hob and de-scaled the draining board and sink. Sowed seeds for this year's veggies and herbs. And started putting photos in albums that have been hanging around for years. Can you tell I've never had this much time off (doing nothing) before? DH took ds to a swimming lesson and had my younger brothers over to keep him amused - so at least he's been entertained.

Bunsouttheoven · 02/04/2012 20:59

Good luck uni I will be thinking of you tomorrow, hope you go in early & can have lunch!

Re mucous show, with dd I gave birth the same day as I had one. With ds it was about 5 days after.

Nordicmom · 02/04/2012 21:27

Uni , lots of luck for tomorrow!
Lorrainbow, I had the ECV and it worked but was very uncomfortable ( painful to be honest )and a bit scary too. . I was so determined to try to avoid CS thought that I chose to have it. In the end I never went into labour , had a failed induction and an EMCS .
Confused , not quite sure how many weeks before I had the show but remember this bloody slimy thing that came out and got me all worried and I even called the ward and they just said it must have been the show. We'll in the end I was overdue 1+w and had to be induced and had a section so never went into labour on my own.

Bearcrumble · 02/04/2012 22:26

Good luck tomorrow, Uni.

Re losing mucous plug - I lost mine about 3 days after my caesarian - was really confused as to why my knickers were suddenly full of glue. My mum had to explain it to me... Blush.

Flisspaps · 02/04/2012 22:36

Best of luck for tomorrow Uni Grin

marshmallowpies · 02/04/2012 22:42

Lorrainbow - did we talk about ECV on another thread or was that with someone else? (sorry if I am muddling you with another MNetter!)

I went in for an ECV a week ago but found DD had turned on her own over the weekend and so I escaped the procedure - in the words of the doctor I'd seen the week before 'it's not a gentle procedure' and the stuff I read afterwards made me glad I hadn't had it in the end.

However - I think I would have been prepared to give it a go rather than opt straight for ELCS. Worth trying once, I reckon, but I think I would have chickened out of a second attempt.

Will hopefully find out on Thurs at the 38 wk appointment what position DD is in now. My plan is to insist on getting position checked ASAP when I do eventually arrive at hospital in labour, may as well have as clear a picture as possible of what position she has got herself into before continuing into second stage.

spannermary · 02/04/2012 23:11

marshmallow I absolutely agree about position. This one's been all over the shop so I really want to know where I stand so I can make informed decisions. Go for it, Uni- I can't wait to hear your news!! Grin

Pitmountainpony · 03/04/2012 01:52

Thanks everyone. Home after three days and two nights post c section with my beautiful tiny girl. Far less painful recovering from scheduled c section rather than unplanned but if any of you end up with that it is fine too. They put lovely warm sheets on me during surgery....it was so cosy somehow even though you know something kind of bloody and brutal is going on. Forgot how painful I find contractions even up to. 5 cm.....I found the epidural a welcome friend.
All worth it for your baby handed to you. There is nothing like it.
Heaven to hold her.....all of you waiting have the bliss to come.very special.wishing you all good deliveries. Whatever it is like you will get you're envious baby to love for ever at the end of the hard work.
Lots of friends have done natural births so if you are planning that....it is possible....everyone has a different pain threshold and experience so just do what works best when the time comes....excited for you all.it is the best.

Pitmountainpony · 03/04/2012 01:53

Precious baby not envious...these I pads warp your communication......

aprilfoolsbaby · 03/04/2012 04:21

I've not been a regular poster here but have kept popping on to see how everyone is and to see what's going on.

Congratulations to all of you with lovely babies already and thank you pit mountain for your lovely words of encouragement to those of us waiting to have our babies.

I am now 2 days over my due date but I went 4 days over with dd1 so am not too concerned. I keep waking up with quite regular pains during the night but by the time morning comes they've gone.

It's so exciting not knowing when the baby will arrive and thinking every day 'this could be the day'

We still need to agree on names and I still need to pack a hospital bag Blush better get a move on.....

Good luck uni for today!

Bunsouttheoven · 03/04/2012 04:27

Ahh, your post brought a tear to my eye pitmountain. Congratulations once again.

Can't sleep as usual, hips are killing me...moan moan moanGrin

HollyPockett · 03/04/2012 08:29

I just cried at The Fresh Prince of Belair. Good grief this baby had better come soon

Good luck today uni !

marshmallowpies · 03/04/2012 08:53

I also got a little watery eyed at pitmountain's post: lovely encouraging words for us all! Congratulations Smile

Then just had a proper cry hearing 'Up the Junction' by Squeeze on the radio as its DD's unofficial song (DH and I had our wedding reception in Clapham, where the song is set, 2 months ago).

notso · 03/04/2012 08:58

Hi all Big congratulations Pitmountainpony , and good luck Uni looking forward to hearing from you with baby details.

37 weeks today, have dreadful backache, and am off all food, living of tea and toast with marmite but heartburn has disappeared.
Feeling sorry for my older two DC as they are off school and I am finding it hard to entertain them, I don't drive and am struggling to walk too far without giving myself a good couple of hours of painful BH.
On the plus side DS2 is now in his own room and has never slept so well, clearly DH and I have been keeping him awake all this time.
Still waiting for scan appointment, hopefully it will be today or tomorrow.

Emsgale · 03/04/2012 09:43

ladies adbice on a show?
with my dd I had a show on friday am and the baby was here sat afternoon.
do you have to have a show for labour to start?
im 39+3
I was really niggly lots of bh and back ache yesterday and today fell yucky today more bh back ache etc but iv had no show does that mean nothing can happen until I get a show?

Bananna1 · 03/04/2012 10:20

Good luck today Uni - I wonder what time you'll go in to surgery today - hopefully already or very, very soon. How exciting :-) Can't wait to hear all about it.

Emsgale, I have never had a show with any of my other three children, so no, you don't need to have a show before going into labour. So even though you haven't had a show, things may have started happening for you!!

Oooooh, it really is getting exciting now!!

I know what you mean about feeling guilty Notso - I've got all three girls off for two weeks and apart from the Easter weekend when DH is around, haven't arranged to do anything with them. I'm just so bl**dy exhausted all the time. My 11 year old just sits and watches all the old episodes of Friends all day long - I worry that she'll begin to think the cast of Friends are her real family!
But great news to hear DS2 sleeping well in his own room - just in time to make room for the next one, yawwwwwwwwnnnnnnnn!!

Emsgale · 03/04/2012 11:23

thank you bananna1 Im getting myself all silly wanting it all over iv had a very tricky pregnancy im not due till sat but im just desperate to have my baby safe in my arms also my dd was 7 days early so I had my hopes up!!!

spannermary · 03/04/2012 11:37

Morning everyone. Heading out of the house today as 3 days with no heating is taking its toll on my sinuses and I'm struggling. So we're off to have a long lunch somewhere...I'm thinking italian pizza. Or maybe pub lunch - pie and chunky chips! Mmmm...

Looking forward to the exciting news from Uni soon - and maybe you too Emsgale!

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 03/04/2012 13:09

Oo, hope to hear from Uni soon!! :)

Checking in again, no sign of baby Beyond yet. Still. 2 days to go til due date, DS was 2 days late so will start getting more annoyed if he's still not here by Saturday day time. My mum has got him an Easter present, so he'd better be out by Sunday!! Am a little worried (probably not the right word, but you know what I mean!) that my due date shouldn't have been moved forward and he's not going to be here for WEEKS yet! Grin
DH is getting on my bloody nerves. He knows this is possibly going to be one quick labour, and is paranoid he is going to miss it while he's in work. So he is CONSTANTLY texting and calling me to see if I have any news at all. I have told him that stressing me out will slow baba down, but he's still a pain in the bum!

My mum is coming over in a bit to "help me spring clean". Not sure whether to be offended or not that my cleaning efforts aren't good enough for her Grin

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 03/04/2012 13:10

Haha, talking about DS1s due date, it was exactly 18 months ago today :)

Emsgale · 03/04/2012 13:58

well my mum is here helping with dd as I just feel rubbish headache sicky feeling going for no2 quite alot v tired and getting very irregular but uncomfertable bh!?

ill probally still be waiting this time next week!!!!!!!!!!

Uglymush · 03/04/2012 16:44

Hi All,

Good to hear so many more are 'popping' our miracles out. Hope everyone is doing ok.

Baby Ugly only woke once last night but the midwife has brought me crashing back to earth this am with he is still a little underweight so I need to wake him regularly to feed :(

Well I've waited in all afternoon for family to come over and they have never come - why do people have to stand you up without even a text? I know I have a new baby but I don't want to spend all my time stuck in doors waiting around pointlessly. Sorry to rant!

Good luck to all those still waiting, trust me the wait is worth it :o
