newmummyvicky · 26/03/2012 16:48

A big congrats, on the birth of baby uglymush Thanks
We now have 3 girls and a little boy now aahhhhwww- any name yet?
and thats great news Marshmallow

Im heading torward D- day- Ill be 40 weeks on wednesday!!!!
I did think i was starting last night with a couple of tightening on tummy and pain lower down, only had a couple what felt like conractions and they were on and off so could be a case of BH? Manage to get to sleep at 1am. Fine today.

I had midwife this morning, she said head is now 2/5 facing down and not moving anywhere. Bump measure 38cm still, so not grown much these last two weeks. But she did say it maybe because bump has drop slightly?
Ive been booked into the local hospital for a strench and sweep next wednesday the 4th of april. So will have to see how that goes, and talk off induction at 40+12

I've been a damper down today and had a clear discharge early! and just had a bit of loose poo, sorry for the talk! hopefully maybe the start of something??????

newmummyvicky · 26/03/2012 16:56

bearcrumble
Ive just read your post thats great news that your baby is 7.3 such a good weight. Try not to worry, im sure your c- section will go fine, and your past the big 37weeks now!!!!! x x

UniPsychle · 26/03/2012 20:25

Congratulations Uglymush! And a gold star for telling the midwife to bugger off, hope I'd have the confidence to do the same in a similar situation.

bearcrumble, sorry you're going through the mill. It's all so worrying when things aren't straightforward. Sounds like you and baby have done really well so far. You've not that long to go, though I'm sure it seems it - ever since this baby had a 'quiet' day I've just wanted him out so I can keep an eye on him.

newmummyvicky sounds like you're on the final approach! Hope things start happening soon and you can avoid sweeps/inductions and all that malarkey.

El32 · 26/03/2012 21:39

Congratulations Uglymush!! Our first boy arrived:))
Things are getting exciting with every new born news. I have 11 days to my due date. Please my little boy don't make me wait too long:))
Have a nice evening ladies...

Uglymush · 26/03/2012 21:49

Thanks everyone.

Uni trust me if someone is irriating you the way she was then you will have the confidence to tell them to sod off!

Got home safely today, 2hrs, from them starting the discharge paperwork to actually being discahraged but hey thats the NHS for you

Boomerwang · 26/03/2012 22:04

Hello everyone!

Baby Anya arrived at 4.21pm on the 20th of March weighing 4lb 13oz. Apart from a little jaundice she's doing very well and we were allowed to exit the hospital yesterday after a long wait. I had a 4 hour labour and 6 failed epidural attempts before giving birth with no pain relief (the gas suffocated me) and I can still remember the agony when I pushed her out in one contraction! I've had a few stitches but nothing major and I'm just pleased that she's feeding well as she's so small. Picture on my profile!

Thank you all for your messages of support, and congratulations to those who've had their babies since I last posted. I have a terrific case of baby brain at the moment, I cannot work out what people are saying to me and it's a bit frustrating, so I'll probably wait a while before posting on Mumsnet again!!!

Take care all :)

Nordicmom · 26/03/2012 22:37

Just a very quick one as DD is down for a sleep and I'm exhausted so want to get a quick kip too. DH is going through a patch of vocal insomnia - insomnia he has to tell me about, frequently, at 3, 4, 5 am etc. He thinks he's on edge waiting for the baby to come as DD arrived in the middle of the night. I feel for him but its hard enough getting sleep as it is! We've got a few other worries too so maybe if they resolve we'll both sleep better.

Congratulations to all new mums - lovely news. No ones picked any of our shortlist names yet, mind you, we had a short list last time and ended up picking a completely different name mid labour on the way to hospital :) DH is banking on doing the same this time but I'm not keen!

Seems as a group we're girl heavy at the mo and mine will be a girl too. Wonder if there's any strange reason for that bias?
Sympathies to those having medical worries, high BP, etc etc. I'm still waiting for results from blood and wee tests but feeling ok apart from exhaustion and really want to go to our MLU, so fingers crossed.

Bananna1 · 27/03/2012 11:04

Wonderful news Boomer and again news of a baby's arrival moved me to tears. Okay, so I had a very bad nights sleep last night and am totally exhausted but is it normal to be so emotional?!!

You said to look at your profile for picture - didn't know we could have profiles on here? How do we see them?

And is it my imagination or have all the births been quite quick so far? Let's hope that trend continues hey!

I had a very emotional and tiring day yesterday - had to travel 3 and a half hours each way (hence my exhaustion today) to accompany my sister to a hospital appointment where it was confirmed she is going through the early menopause (she's 36 with no children) and can't have children as it stands.

There's a slight possibility of egg donation, but as she's single, it wasn't something she was planning to do right now - but they said the nearer she gets to 40, the less chance she'll have. And she just kept crying that she wants her own baby.
There's me sitting right next to her, huge belly, 36 weeks pregnant by a one-off mistake at 42 years old, already with three children and hadn't been delighted with the news of number four. Oh life is cruel isn't it.
She hasn't told our mum or other sister, and I hate knowing all this sad information and not being able to say anything. So sorry, I've got it off my chest on here :(

OK, well, my DH and I are off to a wonderful hotel tonight for our last fling before baby, so had better go pack (and pack hospital bag while I'm at it!).

Enjoy the sunshine

notso · 27/03/2012 11:15

CONGRATULATIONS BOOMERWANG AND UGLYMUSH*

Great news! All these babies are so mini as well. I bet mine will be a brute!

Was up all night last night feeling and being sick, and have been on the loo most of the morning. My bump is very sore to touch and I am feeling generally crap but have loads of enthusiasm for tidying. Please don't let this be the start of anything, I don't want the baby to come yet.

I have Consultant appointment today, I phoned to see if they still wanted me to go in with a potential tummy bug, they said it's fine, and they should probably check me over anyway.

DS2 and DC4's room is almost done, just need to hem the curtains, put up pictures and move some stuff over.
Am a bit annoyed as FIL has announced he is coming over to sort the cellar out. I don't want a load of dusty old cobwebby crap being brought up into my nice clean house. I thought DH and I had made it clear we were waiting until after the baby was born.

balkanscot · 27/03/2012 11:18

Wow, congratulations to Uglymush and Boomerwang! Wine

Hoping to redeem the balance a bit, I am expecting DS. Who keeps dropping into my pelvis more and more each day (bump is sliding down low, very low). I keep thinking it will happen just after Easter, a bit before my DD but we'll see. Have just about died lugging a small bag of shopping from Tesco yesterday afternoon (sooo hot)!

Sorry to hear about your sister's early menopause, Banana1. :(

balkanscot · 27/03/2012 11:21

Oooh, have just seen the photo, Boomer, she looks adorable! :)

notso · 27/03/2012 11:32

Just seen your post Bananna1, how sad for your sister. Must be so difficult for you both, but sounds like you have a strong relationship if she has turned to you despite your pregnancy.

You can sort out your profile in the My Mumsnet section. Hope you have a restful break away.

Flisspaps · 27/03/2012 12:17

notso Tell FIL it's not convenient. If the cellar has a lockable door, 'lose' the key. Or go out!

Bananna1 How sad for your sister :(

notso · 27/03/2012 13:05

Bananna1 Hope that last post came across as it was intended as reading back it doesn't sound right. Sorry.

Fliss Never fear I will be telling FIL, normally I would just go out but PIL are coming to babysit DC while I go to clinic.
They mean well but just feel they can do what they like in the name of 'help' whether we want them to or not, and DH is a bit of a push over where his Dad is concerned. I have had to get vocal, it's taken me years but I have the confidence now.

HollyPockett · 27/03/2012 16:08

Amazing news Ugly Mush and well done you for getting rid of the mizzy midwife!

BearCrumble that list of what to cook looks great, it's on my list of things to do when I start mat leave on Thursday. Try not to worry too much about high BP - they know what the issue is and they'll be monitoring you closely - being aware of the issue is better than not I guess.

Boomer massive congratulations to you too! This is all very exciting! Really hoping that the fast labour theme continues :)

Banana Sorry to hear about your sister. Life's a bitch sometimes isn't it?

The Diva is certainly getting ready for something. I've had a headache for 2 days that I can't shift no matter what I do and I'm feeling bloody awful. She's moving about like never before and I'm sure she's lower than she usually is. If she's going to go for it, I'd like her to do it sooner rather than later!

Bananna1 · 27/03/2012 16:22

Notso, absolutely I read your post as intended, and yes, it is touching that despite my 'condition' she has turned to me for support.
Thanks for all your support.

Good luck HollyPockett if something is happening. I am determined to get my night out in the swanky hotel so will be keeping my legs crossed!

digitalgirl · 27/03/2012 16:35

Congrats to boomer!!! Smile

Am rather Envy at all of you feeling like something's about to happen. I feel completely fine - other than feeling humongous. Get butterflies whenever I think about the baby being here soon. Am really so excited!

House is tidy, laundry is under control, cupboards are decluttered, baby stuff is ready and waiting...

Can I ask - those of you who've had or are planning on using a birthing pool, what do you wear? I've only just realised today that I hadn't planned to wear anything in it. Bikini tops won't fit, so do I just wear a thin top? I ended up naked last time but I was high on g&a and pethidine so didn't really care

Flisspaps · 27/03/2012 17:00

digital I've not thought about what I'll wear in the pool. Knowing how much my t-shirt pissed me off when on the bed last time, I'll probably wear either a bra or nothing. I've not got a special outfit or tankini planned! On one thread I was on someone suggested big pants to 'strain' out any mess Confused and to save bikini bottoms from being ruined, but I'm not sure how they plan to get to the baby - pull it through the leg hole perhaps? Grin Surely everyone accepts giving birth involves wearing no knickers, much the same as getting pregnant in the first place! Wink

Bearcrumble · 27/03/2012 17:01

Thanks, HollyPocket - not wanting to worry you but have you had your BP checked recently? - It's just that headaches can be a sign of pre-eclampsia. I'm sure it isn't and I'm sure you knew that already but as it's on my mind I needed to say it just in case.

spannermary · 27/03/2012 17:31

Sounds like you're being a good sister, bananna - hope all goes well.

I'm just back from my 38 week Mw app. Baby is measuring 39-40, and has moved from back to back! Ish. He's now ROA apparently. The back is on my right hand side and he's looking to one side. So she said keep doing what I'm doing and hopefully he'll carry on. Or, you know, he could move back!

Bp is fine and I'm feeling knackered but good. No sign of baby being early though!!

Hope you're all well Smile

notso · 27/03/2012 17:37

Well just got back from a pointless and sweltering consultant appointment.
Consultant measured my bump at 40 weeks, I am 36 today, I asked her to do it again as she wasnt even holding the top of the tape, she did and said "yes, just over term".
She looked at my notes and said "your last baby was 4.8kg at 38 weeks right", I said "no 4.08kg",
she palpated(?) my bump which was excruciating and said "your baby is very large, this is likely to be the the cause of all this pain you need a growth scan."
I said "is the size going to cause problems with my plans for birth"
She said "No you have had two big babies so you'll be fine"
So am waiting for the call to go for an ultrasound ASAP, I wouldn't have agreed but seeing as I was polyhydramnious last time then I would like to get that checked but if I'm not then I'm not having anymore growth scans.

notso · 27/03/2012 17:41

Digital and Fliss perhaps a large pair of crotchless pants, with a small seive cleverly attached to the rear.

I am going to ask about water birth at the midwife next week, there is only one pool in the hospital so I'm not sure how it works there. I wasn't in long enough to use it last time though.
