mummylivmade · 24/03/2012 23:12

Good luck uglymush the same thing happened to me with dd2 I was lucky and went into labour early hours of the morning so didn't need induction in the end, hope it goes the same way for you! Keep us posted :)
bearcrumble I feel your pain what is it with men! Dp has also had his insensitive moments with me these last few weeks, thankfully after a few stern words he has started to understand and help a bit more!!

Flisspaps · 25/03/2012 08:03

uglymush hop you've got a lovely baby by now or are well on the way!

bear DD (also just 2) stopped napping at Christmas, I feel your pain - I was looking forward to a cheeky sleep myself when she went to bed in the morning, but no such luck Sad

Nordicmom · 25/03/2012 09:57

Good luck Uglymush!

notso · 25/03/2012 12:06

dreamc hows things? Anything started off properly yet?

uglymush hope you are having a snuggly newborn love by now.

Just put up the travel cot we are going to be using upstairs for DC4 and now I'm knackered and can't be arsed taking it down but it's in the front room and DH, DS1 and friend will be back from rugby soon.

I think DS2 senses he will soon have a contender for my attention as he has decided after nearly a year of dropping off to sleep in his cot alone with nothing but a dummy and a lullaby toy that he will only fall asleep lying on the bed with me.
I put him down for a nap and then was stuck as I couldn't roll over to get up without squishing him or my bump, I ended up having a quick snooze myself until he rolled off my arm and I could transfer him to his cot!

dreamc1 · 25/03/2012 12:49

Hi notso
Nothing happening this end, still having the odd contraction, and period pains, still very uncomfortable.

Congrats to the ladies who have their munchkins. xx

spannermary · 25/03/2012 17:01

So my lovely cousins were travelling from the North East to East Anglia today and decided to take a detour off the motorway to pop in and see us! They're clearly very well trained as they brought with them M&S chocolate fudge cake and Victoria Sponge. Yum!

Still, she tells me that I haven't dropped yet so the baby won't be here this week! :(

I'm hoping she's wrong, but then, as my due date isn't for 2 weeks, I guess I shouldn't expect any different...

The cake was delicious. :) (all four slices. OH MY GOD. I am the world's biggest pig!) They were only small slices, though!

VintageNancy · 25/03/2012 20:59

uglymush - looking forward to hearing baby news soon :)

spannermary - I really want some cake. It was DH's birthday on Monday but we've already eaten all the choccie cake I made (tbf some of it was sent to his work for them to eat). Maybe I'll make one this afternoon...

Sounds like it's been another gorgeous day in the UK. But you've had your fun, time to send the sun back to Northern California please! Grin

Nothing much to report here. Had some pretty uncomfortable BHs in quick succession as I went to bed last night until about midnight but then slept for 4 hours followed by 3 hours without getting woken up (apart from to wee). I now keep my ball in the bedroom so I can sit on it when they hit and DH has moved to the spare room so he can get some sleep and I don't worry about disturbing him. Plus I can read or listen to music in the middle of the night now without having to get up.

Uglymush · 25/03/2012 21:45

Hi All. Thanks fo your well wishes. Interesting day - contractions started in the night, hospital told me not to worry and come in at 14.30 as planned. Rang again at 08.45 got similar story, but told if it was getting too bad to come in. Thankfully I am a wimp and decided about 9.45 it was too bad and I needed to go in. So got out of the bath, go dressed, took my time over everything. Got to the hospital at 11.05am told I was 4 cm dilated. Baby Ugly born at 12.01pm. Less than an hour :) The downside is I am still in hospital as waters had been broken for over 24 hours so baby needs 12 hours of monitoring before we can go home. Still if they let me home at 10.00am like the have said then I will have been in less than 24 hours :)

Only asked one midwife to leave the room - she wasn't impressed and I got a very filthy look as she left. Sorry - but she was insisting on putting a canular (sp), which wasn't urgent and actually not needed, in my hand as I was having a contraction. She had alreay made me feel a failure, when demanding I lay on my left rather than my back, not a cat in hells chance it was wayyyyyyyy to painful to move. So ladies - if the midwife irriates you ask her to leave!! My DH was very supportive and would have asked her to leave if I hadn't!!

Hope everyone else is doing ok x

Flisspaps · 25/03/2012 21:54

uglymush congratulations on the birth of your DC (did you get a DD or a DS, am in my phone so struggling to go back to the last check-in list) - how big/small?

Well done on getting the MW out too, you don't need anyone making a bloody painful event unnecessarily uncomfortable Grin

spannermary · 25/03/2012 21:55

Congratulations, Ugly - enjoy it, and well done for standing up for yourself!

Wine Thanks

Uglymush · 25/03/2012 21:57

marshmallowpies · 25/03/2012 22:05

Congratulations UglyMush fantastic news, and apart from the midwife, sounds like a great birth - and the first boy!!

Well done for updating the list Jambalaya - kept thinking I should do it but never quite getting round to it. Sounds like my life at the moment. My only job was to pack the hospital bag this weekend, and never quite got round to it! With all these early arrivals, I really should!

Enjoy the sunshine and snuggles all you new mums :)

digitalgirl · 26/03/2012 10:25

Congratulations uglymush!!!

I'm 37 weeks today! Yay!!! Fully cooked. So baby can come anytime now please (preferably with minimal effort).

confuzed90 · 26/03/2012 10:35

I've been having a few pains which seems quite normal lately! Last night was a few very painful contraction..went to sleep and they stopped..got up this morning had a few more..seems to of stopped! I'm only 35+5 anyway but things must be on their way! I wonder how boomer is?? Hope she's ok and baby arrived safely! We're all starting to have our babies :D I'm so excited!

marshmallowpies · 26/03/2012 15:03

Well the bouncing and kneeling seems to have paid off - we went in to hospital at 8.30am this morning to be turned, doctor came to see us at 10 and did a preliminary scan to see if she had moved at all, and hey presto! she was head down.

I have no idea when the actual turning happened - she was wriggling all weekend but I've been feeling lumps & bumps in all the same places so assumed she hadn't moved significantly. But what was her head according to the scan on Friday had turned into her feet on Monday....very strange.

Just got to keep bouncing on the gym ball now and hope she stays head down. Don't exactly want her arriving early (will be 37 wks on Weds), but now that the potential for a planned CS if she'd stayed transverse has receded, I am back to thinking I could be bouncing away here till May....still seems so far off!

I rewarded myself with a few hours sunning myself in the garden and looking forward to DH getting home so we can have a nice relaxed evening together after a rather stressful few days!

Good luck to dream, confuzed and anyone else getting contractions already...I hope it's not too much longer for me, but after Easter would be perfect.

mummylivmade · 26/03/2012 16:23

Well the nesting is definitely under way! I have been sorting and cleaning and binning old tat, the house has never looked so clean!! Nursery almost done and need to get DP mattress in there for when baby arrives ( we have agreed that I can have bed with baby this time as avoids the middle of the night arguments)!! DD2 has also been exceptionally well behaved however has decided that she wants to be out of nappies, not the best time but hey! 38 weeks today and just can't wait now, getting rather fed up of people saying "haven't you had it yet?" few twinges last few days so let's hope not long!
Congratulations uglymush Thanks

spannermary · 26/03/2012 16:27

That's great news, marshmallow! Well done for turning her...I hope my little man has been as co-operative.

I have my 38w MW appointment tomorrow afternoon, so I wonder if they'll be able to tell. I know what you mean about psyching yourself up for the possibility of an early CS though, and then being told the good ol' VB is back on...and probably several weeks further away.

We finally got round to doing some of the relaxation/visualisation techniques for labour today. At the end of working through it, DH left me lying on the sofa listening to relaxing classical music, where I promptly fell asleep - so the session was obviously fairly successful!

I am sooo relaxed now. Even if these techniques don't pan out in labour, it's lovely to be practicing.

Hope everyone else is well and enjoying the sun, that has finally made it to this corner of Yorkshire!

Pitmountainpony · 26/03/2012 16:28

Thanks Jambaya

Huge Congrats to LaTris and UglyMush - happy exciting wonderful if tiring days ahead.

Bearcrumble · 26/03/2012 16:37

Congratulations, Uglymush - so happy he got to meet daddy before he goes.

Marshmallowpies Well done to your baby for getting the right idea and turning.

I saw my consultant today and unfortunately my blood pressure has gone right up since last Monday. It was 105/70 then but today it was 142/89 - so he's started me on medication to bring it down and I am going back in on Wednesday at lunchtime. I don't know if you remember but with my DS I had pregnancy induced hypertension and IUGR (inter-uterine growth restricition ie small baby because my placenta wasn't providing enough oxygen and nutrition) which all started at around 28 weeks so I've done a lot better to get this far. He scanned me and the baby is slightly above the 50th centile (estimated weight 7lb 3oz) and all the dopplers are fine. I shouldn't be worried but I did have a cry when I got home. I only have 10 days til my caesarian and I'm sure that if my consultant is at all concerned he will just bring it forward. I'm over 37w now so any time is fine.
