El32 I bought an Elle Tens before I left the UK as they're not commonly used in the US for childbirth. I don't know anything about renting them though.

El32 This is the one we tried at NCT, and the one I've hired. Elle TeNs

Had my 34wks appt today - a student MW, A really good one - she definately had that comfortable vibe / rappor thing going on.

She made me laugh though - everything about me was spot-on, and apparently everyone else had been 'spot on' too. She said while obviously thats great, it also a little bit rubbish as it means she doesnt have anything to write about! Grin

Congratulations Bushy, what lovely news and a gorgeous name. Hope you all get to snuggle at home soon.

Well done to clever pedwar too, notso; no stinky toe burning ceremonies for you! Maybe you could post your masturbation sticks to spannermary.

Have today stocked up on the essentials for motherhood: Clarins Beauty Flash Balm and dry shampoo. Grin (oh and aqueous cream, thanks digitalgirl)

Is there an alternative version of the what-to-buy-when-having-baby list that suggests things that help you look/feel human? Have yet to find anything to improve eyes that have been chronically sleep deprived for weeks on end. Any suggestions?

Nordicmom · 13/03/2012 21:05

Congrats Bushy! Your news make it more real. We have about 5 w 5d left until scheduled section . DH is one of many born 5 w early . Besides him I know at lest 2 others born 5 w early , what is it with this magical 5 w?! Makes me scared since we're not at all ready with anything and we are near the 5 w now...
I feel like a pressure cooker . Wasn't like this with DS even though he was my first . We were much more prepared , just got far too much to do with the practicalities of the surrogacy , fixing things in the house etc. At least we managed to hold DS belated kids birthday party last friday and it went nicely . We did a laser tag party and it was great fun! Just trying to get things ticked off the mental list in my head one by one and some baby clothes washed everyday . We'll get there in the end I guess , just hope we don't run out of time ...
I was just wondering today when the first baby news would come so it was funny that it was the first bit I saw on the thread... Congrats again:)!

Get some rest, after the last few weeks you've earned it x

notso · 14/03/2012 10:17

Congratulations riamay2011
Wine[thanksWineThanksWineThanks
Our second born, hope you have a swift recovery. Smile

I feel a bit impatient now, even though I still have loads to do and TBH I don't really want Pedwar to come before the Easter holidays!

DH is picking the pram up today and the wallpaper should be here tomorrow. I also bought newborn nappies, maternity pads, paper knickers and massive granny pants from Primark for my hospital bag.
My 'lucky' T-shirt is in the wash, have worn it for all my births!

I think I have finally accepted that I am actually going to have another baby Grin

spannermary · 14/03/2012 10:33

Congratulations, Riamay! A beautiful little girl... Wine Thanks What a lovely start to the week.

Notso I have done the exact same shop and now just want to get parenting! Impatient, much? :)

In the midst of this happy time...another grumble.

My fingers look like sausages, and I've had to take off my wedding ring.

Grump.

That is all! returns to happy thoughts of Riamay and Bushy's lovely new additions and stops being so self-absorbed

Bananna1 · 14/03/2012 11:55

Congratulations RiaMay, wonderful news :) Hope you've managed to get some sleep and are feeling okay!
So, girls winning 2-0 at the moment! Certainly does start to make it feel real doesn't it!!

Bearcrumble · 14/03/2012 14:37

Congrats Riamay! What's her name? What sort of delivery did you have?

I am bloody exhausted and getting quite painful braxton hicks every couple of days. Mum and DH helping lots though, and DS sleeping well so could be worse.

I can't remember if I mentioned them before, but I recommend Tena pants for the first few days after giving birth (they are disposable with a built in pad, really for incontinence but better than granny pants/maternity pad in my experience) especially if you've had a caesarian. You can rip them down the side and chuck them away, there's no way for the pad to get dislodged and they come up high so don't irritate your scar and the paper is very soft. Sainsbury's do their own version too.

digitalgirl · 14/03/2012 14:42

congratulations riamay! Hope the CS recovery goes well.

Might need to start a post-natal thread soon!

digitalgirl · 14/03/2012 14:47

spanner I took my rings off by about week 20 as I had swollen hands last time and didn't take my rings off in time so they were stuck there.

Hands have puffed up again this time, and face, and ankles, and arse...god even my calves are struggling to squeeze into my boots. My maternity trouses from my first pregnancy don't fit!!! So I'm on the salads from now on Sad.

Have another GTT and growth scan on Friday to rule out GD properly even though there was no glucose in my urine yesterday. (fat) fingers crossed it's just a big baby - or they won't let me in the birthing centre.

spannermary · 14/03/2012 15:26

Good luck with the salads, digital. I'm having minimal success with downing pints and pints of water and eating marmite on toast for the salt.

I think my watch might be the next thing to go - my wrists are getting bigger too!

spannermary · 14/03/2012 15:28

PS and good luck with the appointments on Friday! I'll cross my fat fingers for you too!

VintageNancy · 14/03/2012 15:38

Congratulations riamay! :) Wine Wine Thanks Thanks

I'm starting to feel impatient whilst trying desperately not to. It could be another 5 weeks yet... (but here's hoping for more like 3).

BHs are really pissing me off! They kept me awake the other night but I only had one last night that was bad enough to get me out of bed to pace around a bit so that's an improvement I guess. According to my midwife my body is "gearing up". At 37 weeks I'm measuring 34cm (after 36.5 last week) so baby has dropped apparently.

VintageNancy · 14/03/2012 15:41

Oh and meant to say - no fat fingers yet. I wriggle my wedding/engagement rings every day but still plenty of movement. I'd been expecting to have to take them off by now. Mind you I'm freezing cold at the moment.

digi fingers crossed for Friday for you!

Flisspaps · 14/03/2012 16:25

No fat fingers here either, but with DD I had to take them off at about 30w Grin

Lots of BH here, been on the ball A LOT over the last couple of days (did I mention I've been having BH?) which is new to me as I had none with DD.

So different these two pregnancies...hoping the births are completely different too Wink

Pick up the homebirth pack tomorrow GrinGrinGrin

VintageNancy · 14/03/2012 17:42

I should move my ball into the bedroom at night so I can sit on that when the bastard BHs hit!

Exciting about the homebirth pack Fliss Grin.

balkanscot · 14/03/2012 19:00

congratuations, riamay! :)

digitalgirl, I have had a bit of a gestational diabetes scare this afternoon during a routine MW appt. She said that sugars have now appeared in my urine but that this could be because I had 5 Jaffa Cakes 2 1/2 hours before I took the urine sample. Blood pressure is fine, 130/78. She took blood, just to be sure about sugars, though, otherwise I will be going to have GTT, too. Swelling is still there (feet/ankles), but the foot pain seems to be going away (small mercy, yes!).

Oh, yes, and then the icing on the cake: apparently I measured 39 cm, yet I am only 35+2! Then she said she can feel a lot of amniotic fluid around and that the baby has turned from cephalic to breech! So, off for a lfd (large for dates) liquor & positioning scan next week. I'm trying not to crap myself with worry. At best it may be that it will be a large baby (DH was 4,4 kg when born and I was 4,2 kg).

Boomerwang · 14/03/2012 19:30

Congratulations riamay!
