Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ConfusedMumDotCom · 17/03/2012 12:26

Thanks DH21. I was wondering why the TWW thread was so quiet, it's because everyone is here!!

Still stunned about the BFP. I hope all is well with you.

jaylee89 · 17/03/2012 13:06

yes im on dc2 i have 5 yr old DD who is very energetic and keeps me very busy indeed! me and dh have been ttc for just over a yr! after a very horrific mc last january. my EDD is 10th november and currently 6 weeks today!!! cannot wait till 12 weeks and i can finally relax and stop knicker checking every minute of the day.

CONGRATULATIONS confused :) xxxx

ConfusedMumDotCom · 17/03/2012 13:56

Thank you jaylee. Sorry to hear about your mc and congratulations to you too.

I just had my second shock of the day. I went to check on dd and she had climbed out of her cot and was sitting on her chest of drawers!! Looks like we are going to take the side off the cot this evening. She looked so proud of herself that I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't the first time she's done it.

YellowWellies · 17/03/2012 14:39

I have to confess to substituting a couple of cuppas a day to de-caf (just so I can still eat shedloads of chocolate to be fair!), I'm on the Co-Op 99 Fairtrade decaff - cheap and I genuinely can't taste the difference from normal tea. The only reason I'm not on it all the time is that babybrain quite often makes me reach into the normal tea caddy when I'm making a cuppa - and well you can't throw away a perfectly good cuppa. Am off to a Paddy's Day party with DH work tonight, most of the gang are hard drinking Orcadians, oh dear how on earth am I going to get away with staying off the booze Confused

Stuntnun · 17/03/2012 14:54

YellowWellies let someone buy you an alcoholic drink. Pretend to drink it (can you pour some into DH's glass when no-one's looking, or swap glasses with him?) Next time someone wants to buy you a drink you've still got one. Try and get a round in yourself and just buy a coke and make out it's a rum and coke. Try and get DH to drink as much of your booze as he can!

A small amount of alcohol won't do any harm anyway, they used to say 1-2 units one or two times a week was fine. The rules were just changed recently because some pregnant women were drinking way too much so the opinion was that it was easier to say none than to say a small amount was okay.

OMGBFP · 17/03/2012 15:03

I had a small glass of Wine yesterday to keep up appearances, bit wasted though as I ended up telling them!

DesperateHousewife21 · 17/03/2012 15:41

Ive already had 3 normal teas today so really shouldn't have anymore.

Currently round FILs house trying to find the right moment to tell...

OMGBFP · 17/03/2012 15:45

do you think it'll be a problem for them DH?

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 17/03/2012 16:25

So where does everyone stand on drinking? I'm toying with the idea of having a (very small) glass of wine tonight. I did allow myself a glass of wine a week with dd - I measured it out, and only had 100ml in a glass. But still feel like a shoudn't really. Hmm.

OMGBFP · 17/03/2012 16:28

Guidelines say 1-2 units is fine so am going with that.

I'll probably have the occasional half of Guinness as it's good for you :)

Of course three days before i found out I drank 2 bottles of wine to myself Blush surprised it's stuck fast after the amount I was Envy

OMGBFP · 17/03/2012 16:28

I sound like an alcoholic now

misslaughalot · 17/03/2012 16:43

Hi confusedmum great to see another familiar name from the tww thread, can't quite believe how lucky we all were!

Gosh, some of you are telling people already. My parents live in Cornwall (I'm in Brum) and I speak to them often, but don't see them too much. This will be their first grandchild and I really want to tell them in person, which means waiting until the first weekend in June when we get the double bank holiday (woo hoo!). It seems like such a long way off, but after my mc in Nov I don't want to tell people too early, and I'd love to have a scan pic to show.

MN will be my outlet for the next 3 months, stop myself going crazy!

EssexWelsh · 17/03/2012 16:59

This is my first ever read let alone post on mumsnet, I found out 2 days go I was expecting, not planned, am about to turn 29, first pregnancy, just had promotion at work, so scared, confused but I have to say 2 days in, getting very excited, happier than I thought! Partner (DP in mumsnet speak?) already being brilliant, so just here asking for advice, no idea what I am doing and you all sound so on top of it all! I am due 21/11/12, have made doc's appointment for 29/03 and bought pregnacare plus vitamins today. My main concern is that I am due to fly to Egypt in 2 weeks and have googled (my only guide) that should not fly pre 6 weeks and overheating is bad, so feeling very nervous about my needed holiday but obviously not at risk of child?? So 2 things...what to do about hol? What do I need to do next-people are talking booking hospitals, wearing unwired bras????Help! X

funthatisfunny · 17/03/2012 17:04

Hello everyooooone.

Good luck telling FIL DH; is it a problem?

so sorry to hear about you mc jaylee, but hurray for another pregnancy!

Oh I would have a glass of wine wellies. No worries. Just the one, here and there. You mioght be surprised how little anyone notices anyone elses drinking when they are drinking and chatting away! To tell the truth though I am the kind of drinker that likes more than one so I avoided totally last pregnancy and will again with this one. Don't drink often but when I do I have fun! I am really looking forward to a glass of champagne at a wedding I am going to on the 5 May, other than that nothing though I have nowt against it :0)

I am shattered today but pleasingly my appetite has returned! I had some lovely salmon and rice for lunch and enjoyed a cup of tea and biscuit. hurray for that, it was right miserable not wanting to eat. I really feel sorry for you nauseous ones, it is rubbish.

trying to work but really want a nap. A proper nap, with my bed and everything.

Congrats MORE newbies, golly gosh but who wasn't ttc this month?!

About telling people miss I have told nearest family and friends - people we would want to know if anything went wrong. TBH I wouldn't have told the in laws if DH wasn't staying with them when I found out ;0) Not told my family yet but that's because my Mum doesn't talk to me any more and my bro and sis are much younger than me and I wouldn't want them to know if anything went wrong. Also don't want them to have a 'big secret' from my Mum. Familes huh - who'd have 'em?!

Right, 15 mins more work then am off to have a weekend! Am craving skinny fries for my tea. MUST HAVE. (skinny fries are turning into a bit of a theme, I am going to be huge!)

OMGBFP · 17/03/2012 17:13

I wasn't TTC, far from it!!

Welcome to Mumsnet essexwelsh like you not planned, slowly coming round to the idea! Holidays - well have only ever read that it's the end of pregnancy you cannot fly, not the start? As for your destination, just be very careful, no water, no ice, no salad, no Mr. Whippy style icecreams. Stay hydrated! And get some embolism stockings to wear on the flight too :)

Booking in is not booking the hospital, not sure why it's called that though, it's your first appointment with your antenatal clinic/midwife. Your surgery will tell you when they want to see you.

EssexWelsh · 17/03/2012 17:21

Thank you OMG, so weird even admitting it on here, actually at the point that I know I will be devastated if it all went away! Not telling anybody for some time, probably 12 weeks when all confirmed. Can't believe how quickly people are feeling ill/tired. I have really sore boobs so guessing that's part of it. Need to invest in some books, as my friend google has been my soulmate the last 2 days, plus going out with family for meal last night was amusing, as SIL 17 weeks, so I'm questioning her on every detail, without trying to make it obvious, my other SIL is desperately trying after numerous mc at 15 weeks plus, so don't want to say too early. Fingers crossed for exciting times ahead! X

OMGBFP · 17/03/2012 17:26

I'd be tempted to pack lots of extra strong mints and ginger nnuts in your suitcase in case you get morning sickness while there!

Peaky1 · 17/03/2012 18:02

EssexWelsh. I was trying (only for 2 months) and was very surprised when I fell pregnant so quickly. I also realised I didn't have an effing clue what to do! So far I've been on here a lot and got a couple of pregnancy apps for my iPhone. Good free ones are 'What to expect when you're expecting' and 'Babycentre', in fact a lot of people like BabyCentre (they also have a website). I also bought the Pregnancy Bible book, which I have found really useful.

I called my GP surgery and they told me I had to see GP first. I still haven't even heard from the midwife yet (I'm supposed to wait for her to call me) and I'm 7 weeks on Monday! They need to crack on because I can't cancel my patients at such short notice for a booking appointment just like they can't!

Tiago · 17/03/2012 18:04

OK. So, my boobs don't hurt now, but in terms of new and fun symptoms everything I eat tastes spicey. V odd.

DesperateHousewife21 · 17/03/2012 18:22

No it's not a prob telling them because we've got ds what can they really say?

Anyway dh told them and step-MIL was thrilled, FIL didn't say much other than can you afford two and how far along am I etc.

Not too bad all in all!

EssexWelsh · 17/03/2012 18:27

Thanks Peaky1 will get apps now, what did women do, pre iPhone?!

DesperateHousewife21 · 17/03/2012 18:34

Welcome essex and congrats!!

I've got the babycenter app it's v good it gives you new info daily and pics/ videos about what's going on in there.

Kyzordz · 17/03/2012 18:42

I did another test today, just to check, and bean is still there! I know that's probably a bit silly as i've had lots of symptoms etc, I think i'm just petrified of it disappearing without me knowing or something! And since I can't see anything i'm awfully paranoid!

Welcome Essex :) congrats!

Lilliana · 17/03/2012 18:46

Hi Essex Congrats, I'm due 21st too. I would ask your doc about the flying just to check it out.

I was trying for 2 years and know everything there is to know about conception, however, I never looked further than that so am now clueless too!!

Have realised today that I have my birthday party (Party at our house, loads of people already booked for next weekend), a hen night and a wedding in the next few weeks. DH is going to make my drinks for me at my birthday so no one need know as long as I can avoid the sambucca shots that wil go around. But the hen do?? Not sure how I can get around that as it's a weekend away and drinking is high on the list of activities. Any ideas? Did wonder about saying I'm on antibiotics but can't think why I would be!

Tiago how odd! Can't wait till I have bonkers symptoms to make it seem more real.

Fun glad you are feeling better and enjoying food and most importantly cups of tea!

There seems a real split about when tell people. Iwant to tell my closest friends but not family yet. Not sure why though as we are close - I think it's because I'm not sure how to tell them and though a scan would make it easier as I could just show them a picture! Also worried about somehting going wrong esp as it has taken so long to concieve. Any great ways to tell people without a pic / with a pic?
