The perks of large age gaps boojaneyfun (lmao!) There aren't many, but this is one ;)

He has promised my mum he is going to look after me. This, remains to be seen. He only made the pizza because he wanted one himself!

Now DP is home, tea is on. Thank god. And someone got my Rennies out the fridge for me, which has helped.

Oh, a little tip - for those with the nausea, but no actual vomiting yet - these chewable rennies are doing a great job at keeping the nausea at bay. I find that I get a bit of acid reflux/heartburn when I feel nauseous, and as well as eating little and often, these are great. Anyone else find some days the nausea is there most of the time, and others its hardly there - just if over hungry?

I'm so grateful I've not got the vomiting yet! I was fully expecting and prepared for it, but it hasn't started yet. The nausea is nothing in comparison to that barsteward hyperemesis! I'm past the stage I got to last time - and I never got the nausea last time, it just started as vomiting and then the nausea, and then the vomiting got worse progressively over a few days until I was vomiting all day long. So I am wondering if my luck is in - time shall tell!

Re: Bras, I'm still in my underwired, they are a little tender, most definitely bigger, but they seem fine in my normal ones so far. I'm hoping to stay in underwired as long as possible, well, at least when not in work anyway. When in work I just want to be comfy, but when out and about, I'd like to look good!

DesperateHousewife21 · 14/03/2012 19:27

fun yes I def look a good 4 months gone after dinner. Even during the day I've got a slight bump!

I'm quite a skinny size 6/8 so its v noticeable too, I won't be able to hide it for long!

OMGBFP · 14/03/2012 19:52

Someone tell me off.

Here's all I have eaten today:

3 pieces toast
bowl of sugar free jelly
a bread roll
2 digestives

Massively not enough, and all carbs too Sad just don't feel like eating!

Evilwater · 14/03/2012 20:03

Wow this thread has exploded!
Hello all newbies! Hope you like it here.

Just to let you know that I've been eating pizza and sausage sandwiches. My friend has named the baby sausages, and because I'm not eating loads of fruit I feel awful.

I still have sickness, I really can't wait till that goes and I'm getting very tired in the afternoons.

I'm also finding reading is very tiring.

Hope you all are not suffering to much.
EW

Am I ok to join? I got my BFP on saturday, and the CB digital test said 2-3 weeks which is supposed to mean 4-5 weeks apparently? I only had my implant removed 6 weeks ago this monday coming so I can't be too far along! I've booked a doctors appointment for tuesday, but they've said to ring tomorrow to check for any cancellations for after work, so I might get seen tomorrow instead. I'm really excited, even if a bit nervous about everything! :)

WaitingForMe · 14/03/2012 20:32

Thanks blonderthanred, funthatis funny and TheDetective. I've had so many friends have babies (it was starting to get tough) but nobody mentioned anything like what bra's they were wearing.

It feels like I've joined a secret club where the manuals cover only a fraction of it. So glad I have this thread until I see the midwife. DH is great but it's his third and he's all vague and 'just do what feels right for you' about it.

pipsicles · 14/03/2012 21:18

Wow! I knew I'd been busy, but you lot have really been going for it! I know I'm going to miss people off here, sorry!

I'm really pleased to hear about all the heartbeats that people have been seeing, esp for those who have been worried - it must be such a relief!

Welcome and congratulations to all the newbies too - I'm amazed how many people are on this thread now - really beginning to worry about giving birth in the corridor at this rate!

Thanks for the links to the bootiful bras! I never thought of looking on Amazon! I've been wearing mine nearly two years now, so think this might be a good excuse to invest in some nice new ones! The last two I bought were bravissimo ones that are stretchy and fit you through all the changes we have to undergo, even your milk coming in! They are great, although a little pricey and being synthetic are a little warm in the summer. Oh, and they're not so pretty either, but a great investment if you're looking for something to get you all the way through!

Penguin and maninthemoon - we will all have a similar age gap between DCs - how do you feel about it? This little one has come along a little earlier than we had 'planned' (like you really can!), but I'm really excited by my 21mo age gap now and trying not to worry about things like how to lower DS into cot with a bump etc!

I have a confession...I've been out and bought another stick today Blush Can't bring myself to tell DH that I am worried to the point that I needed to spend another fiver. Sometimes I'm sure everything is okay, but then I have a little blip and feel like I need more reassurance! Do you think it is too late (at night) to poas, or should it not matter by 6weeks?

I really should be getting on with getting everything ready for DS to go to childminders tomorrow, esp as I'm so tired. I've spent so long catching up with you all!

horseylady · 14/03/2012 22:17

I hate morning sickness it's lasts all day and night :( not just sickness but just a general bad belly. I'm so dizzy which is what makes me feel sick. If one more person days it's a good sign I might just kill them!! Just come out an end of life meeting about mil feel depressed now for dh and this is not good timing to be do ill why don't hormones turn off??

superpenguin · 14/03/2012 22:32

pip and in fact everybody - no need to spend £5+ on a pregnancy test when you can get a pack of FIVE off ebay for a mere £1.29?! with next day delivery in a plain envelope.
I'm a big big fan of internet cheapie tests. All tests work in the same way so there's really no difference, the only difference is in the packaging, plus in how the result is displayed or how the urine is got on the test - the cheapest ones are just a little stick that you dip into the urine - pee in a pot -it's easier!
anyway I'm rambling on about tests so sorry about that, but I know (from personal experience) how much we all like to do lots of them and I hate to think of people spending more money than they need to! :)

horseylady Sad how long do they think she has now? So sorry for you all x

Re pregnancy tests - Poundland do them, semichem/Bodycare do packs of 3 for £1 - no need to spend a fortune.

I would say at 6 weeks time of day won't matter much re testing, in fact I did my first BFP at 4.30am in the morning in hospital and had been peeing like nobodies business as drinking loads of water due to the heat!

superpenguin · 14/03/2012 22:46

anyway, now I've finished list-updating and pg-test-pondering (see above!) here is an actual post...:

pipsicles I'm really happy about the relatively short age gap (it will be 20 months) as I think the children will grow up together, have similar needs etc. although I'm sure it will be hard at first! also it's another mat leave to look forward to just as this one is ending! haha

Happily the morning sickness has not yet kicked in, but to be fair I would only be about 5 weeks now so there's plenty of time for it to come! It was awful last time round - ok not nearly as bad as some people get it but still, horrible feeling sick all the time. I had it from about week 6 to week 16 with my first pregnancy, all day long...

I am not going to worry remotely about how much weight I put on or not, my philosophy in pregnancy is you have to just eat whatever you feel like eating (within reason). I would avoid stilton though stuntnun and fruitsalad - it's the bluey bits that's the potential problem i think. Parmesan definitely ok though! :)

Little9 · 14/03/2012 22:51

Looking at previous comments, I'm feeling worried that I have only done one test. If I had a mmc, would the test show as a negative? I figured that last time as my body was still telling me I was pregnant, so would the test?

Am sooooooooooooooooooo tired!! And get bloated in the evenings. Still in underwired bras, but bought new maternity ones from (...OMG, my brain has just had a complete blank and cannot for the life of me remember the name of the shop Blush...that is not good, baby brain already!) in Sept last year which I will use when I need to increase size.

Fingers crossed, Izzy. PMA!

Iheartpasties · 14/03/2012 23:17

Hi Everyone,

It takes me so long to read the thread coz it seems to move so fast. But it feels good that we can all share and have a bit of a gossip and moan together as I'm sure it saves my poor dh hearing all about every small thing!!

I am booked in for an early scan, I thought I would leave it until 8 weeks though so I could be sure (fingers crossed and touch wood and whistle) to see something. It felt mega exciting to go in and book the scan. I had forgotten about having to have a full bladder though! That is the worst part by far!!

I am hoping DH can come for the scan.

x

Iheartpasties · 14/03/2012 23:22

Also I wanted to say thanks to those upthread who described good ways to tell close friends who you know have been ttc-ing for quite a while. One of my best friends has been ttc since she got married in June last year, she was recently quite gutted that her SIL had fallen pregnant quite easily for the second time. Of course I'm sure you all understand that she was happy for her SIL but she just felt sad to feel 'left behind'. Anyway she sent me an email all about it, and I felt terrible as I had just found out we had fallen pregnant. I was super shocked as it was only our second month trying, and it felt like a big surprise as I never thought we'd be so lucky, we tried for 6 months the first time, and I know that ios not very long, but still longer than 2 months. Anyway I am rambling a bit now. I just feel happy to know she will prefer a face to face conversation about my pregnancy.

misschord · 14/03/2012 23:45

BFN last week with supermarket own brand test, so have been wondering all week, but today BFP! We took 18 months to conceive our first dc, and had given ourselves just another couple of months before we gave up trying for a second, so this LO has popped up just in the nick of time! Fingers crossed everything is OK for everyone here. x

FreddieMercurysBolero · 15/03/2012 00:25

Thanks OMG, well doctor said EDD is 11/12, so I'll go with that! I haven't actually been to the doctors since DS's six week check up, so when I walked in the door, she asked if I had news for her! I think I have the best GP in the world, I was so upset and scared when I got pg with DS and she was so understanding and reassuring. Although I forgot that I had worn pants both over and under my tights to hold them up today...she was trying not to laugh when she examined me and I explained! Please tell me I'm not the only one who does this!

Just finished reading the thread, there are quite a lot of us! So here are my stats:

FreddieMercurysBolero [27] DC2, EDD 11/12/2012

Iheartpasties · 15/03/2012 07:01

Freddie - hahaha at your pants!!

DesperateHousewife21 · 15/03/2012 07:17

Lol at the pants!!

little9 I think (but not totally sure) a preg yet will come up positive even of you have a MMC as the fetus etc is all still on there so the hormones would be too. It's not until everything is expelled and the hormones have gone that it would turn to neg. BUT saying that you will be fine and we've all got lovely healthy growing babies on this thread!

DesperateHousewife21 · 15/03/2012 07:17

Preg test*

TheManInTheMoon · 15/03/2012 07:25

Hi pipsicles

TheManInTheMoon · 15/03/2012 07:38

Sorry stupid iPhone I'll start again lol.

Hi pipsicles there will be 20 months between DS and DC2 ad I'm VERY nervous about it all. I was in hospital for most of he first 16 weeks last time (I don't take we'll to pregnancy) and I'm just waiting or it to hit this time. I have no idea what I'm going to do with DS if that happens this time. I have a few people who I trust with him who would be happy to have him (my mum, my grandparents and his godmother) but he's been very clingy since he was Ill last month and sometimes won't even go it DP, only me. I think the main thing I'm worrying about it this pregnancy affecting him too much both during and after. I don't want him to suffer but not getting all the attention he's used to but I suppose everyone is like this with the second one lol.

I've done 5 tests since Monday and got some more yesterday Confused I think we all do it but I totally agree with superpenguin and OMGBFP the cheap ones are the way to go they're all he same an that way you can do them until you're heart's content lol

OMGBFP · 15/03/2012 07:38

Congratulations Misschord :) feel free to add yourself to the list, or post your stats if you are on a phone and someone will do it for you Thanks

I had a total meltdown last night Sad full on floods of tears and can't cope with this's and worrying that my relationship will change for the worst etc. Poor DP really didn't know what to do with me so kind of gave up and went to bed :/ feeling a lot brighter today though.

Forced myself to eat something last night and while i didn't enjoy it and didn't even taste it was like chewing cardboard, at least i know I got more calories in for the baby. Going to make a curry tonight and hope I can stomach that.

So, have good days all, wonder how many new BFPs we'll get today after the rush yesterday?!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 15/03/2012 08:07

Just a warning ladies, I brought a batch of 30 tests (eBay) when we began ttc and they are all duff, even now if I Use one with fmu it's a strong bfn where as any other brand used with the same sample comes up with a strong BFP immediately, the Internet ones claim to be 10mu ones as well, I spent ages thinking I was going mad before I did a clear blue and got the BFP Smile
