OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
blonderthanred · 09/03/2012 08:59

The eBay/Amazon tests are very low sensitivity. I got my first BFP on one but it was very faint. Sainsbury's test came up much more clearly. A week on I am still doing a daily test with an amazon cheapie and the lines are much stronger than they were.

As others have said, a line is a line.

DesperateHousewife21 · 09/03/2012 09:41

Ok pic of the first test I did on Wed afternoon is on my profile. You may have to squint/ close one eye but honest opinions can you see the very very faint line to the left of the dark red one?

DesperateHousewife21 · 09/03/2012 09:42

Also tbf its not a great pic as I took it on my phone then when I uploaded it onto the pc it made it huge so the resolution is poor

Tiago · 09/03/2012 09:54

I can see a shadow to the left of the dark red line, about the same distance from the dark red line as the distance between the dark red line and the green bit. Does that sound right?

Bimbledorf · 09/03/2012 09:59

There's defintiely a line there DH21 - it looks like mine did - it was my last IC so not sure what it would look like now, but on the same day in the evening I took a Tesco test and that was way more obvious (although still v.faint).

TitsalinaBumSquash · 09/03/2012 10:01

I can see 2 lines :)

I (like a numpty) legged it into Tesco and brought another CB (not digital) and peed on it in the dr's toilet whilst waiting to go it, the line was so faint but there!

He said all is looking good, and has referred for urgent consultant led care since I am more than a nightmare when pregnant, I have been given a bounty pack and vitamins, he said the combination ones you get in chemists aren't great so he has given me folic acid independently then calcium and vit d combined.

DesperateHousewife21 · 09/03/2012 10:05

Thank you ladies Grin it's such a relief that others can see it too. The one I did today was even fainter though Confused

Ok I will try to relax now, I'm off to tell my parents!

OMGBFP · 09/03/2012 10:11

I think I can see it, hard on such a small picture, if I wiggle my lappy screen it's clearer though Grin

I'd go and get a "proper" test to set your mind at ease maybe?

Phoned docs, you apparently don't have to wait till 8 weeks these days for your booking in, how things change! Used to be glared at sternly if you were a day under the magic 8 weeks Hmm
So going in on Mon 19th :) and I have to pick up a pregnancy pack before that as there are forms there that need doing apparently.

Tiago · 09/03/2012 10:24

I filled in the booking form and got my bounty pack yesterday. I remembered that there was lots to fill in and figured I'd have time to do it yesterday and to get it hidden before dad comes to visit today. He will not be told until the magic 12 weeks, and only then if all is well. He'll Only get overexcited otherwise.

Tiago · 09/03/2012 10:25

From what I recall the midwives will contact me in the next week or so to tell me to book my booking in appointment...

Belgrano · 09/03/2012 10:57

Wow so many new people! Brilliant news, hello everyone. Sorry to you all who are feeling sick. (Me too).

Anyone not sleeping very well? So annoying, not sleeping at night but if I lie down in the day I go out like a light and then wake up incredibly groggy after an hour or so so I'm not sure which is worse. Not napping in the day doesn't make the night sleep any better either. Just restless and nauseous, hot/cold etc all night. Not exactly refreshing sleep!

I've got a midwives appt in 2 weeks, at 8 wks. I am a student midwife (although at the moment I am 'paused' on my course due to it being a crazy year for DH's job) and we've recently been studying 'booking in' appts. It will be interesting to sit on the other side of the table!

OMGBFP · 09/03/2012 11:10

yes I am not sleeping too well but then i do have a cough which isn't helping Hmm am very tired but not the pregnancy fatigue I recall from other pgs, just my usual not slept well tired iyswim.

What exactly happens at a booking in appointment? Bloods taken? forms filled?

Tiago · 09/03/2012 11:55

And the midwife rang this morning. My booking in will be on 2 April.

GTbaby · 09/03/2012 11:59

been a bit quite here last few days. hope your all doing well.

been off work since tuesday, feeling really ill, went Dr today and have been given Promthazine Teoclate, bit nervous about taking medication, might do some research before taking it.

have been told can not go to my 1st choice hospital due to high volume of requests within their catchment area :( so now on to 2nd choice, i REALLY don't want to go to to 3rd. i have heard horrible things about the 3rd choice.

DesperateHousewife21 · 09/03/2012 12:58

Parents are v happy about it :)

Need to ring docs next week to get a midwife assigned. I don't really need to see a doc unless they say I have to.

Bimbledorf · 09/03/2012 15:12

I know you aren't supposed to take your temps once you find out you are pregnant, but I did find out very early (9dpo) so technically had I not tested I would have still taken my BBT anyway this morn ...the reason I am blathering on is my BBt is really low - like 35.8 underarm and 36.3 in the mouth. I have just taken it again now (yes I know it means nowt at this time of day!) but I haven't warmed up at all!

Is this a cause for concern?!

Bimbledorf · 09/03/2012 15:13

I was 36.2 before ovulating then it rose.

OMGBFP · 09/03/2012 16:58

Are you on Fertility Friend at all Bimbledorf? They'd be the people to ask, there's nothing they don't know about this kind of thing and the people on the forums when i used them when facing Assisted Conception are very helpful and friendly :)

izzybizzybuzzybees · 09/03/2012 17:09

I agree with OMGBFP might be worth a look

DesperateHousewife21 · 09/03/2012 17:52

Ok confession time, day 1 of not smoking. I gave up when preg with ds then started again when he was 11 mo around the time of my wedding: honeymoon.

I've only had one today at half 7 this morning and although it's tough going I'm not keeling over yet.
Am I the only giving up the little white sticks?

DesperateHousewife21 · 09/03/2012 17:53

God I can't even spell, sorry for typos blame nicotine withdrawal and preg brain!

Little9 · 09/03/2012 18:21

Same here Tiago, got my booking in appointment on 2nd April and dating scan on 24th April.

Thanks Pipsicles. I know there is no use worrying as what will be, will be (easier said than done!!). Generally I am remaining calm but don't want to get too excited/carried away like last time!! Will enjoy only having a mild wave of nausea each morning and keep my fingers crossed.

Still feeling tired and boobs definitely hurting now! I'm 6 weeks today, so halfway to scan! Although am about to be outsourced at work in three weeks time and don't know if I will still have a job. DH is also about to take voluntary redundancy, so not good timing all round really! Oh well, it's making life interesting!! :)

Sorry desperate, but I gave up smoking about 3 and a half years ago. It was tough going but I was determined. You're doing really well, so keep it up! :o My husband has been banished to the garden as he still smokes although he keeps saying he's going to give up now. Mmm, not so sure!

DesperateHousewife21 · 09/03/2012 18:38

Dh still smoking here too but he goes outside just like I used to.
Well done for giving up, I'm v determined too but the first 3 days are hellish.

Evilwater · 09/03/2012 19:30

Hello everyone,
Saw the midwife today. She worked out that I'm due 15/10! So can I please stay here until I have the dating scan.
I'm all booked in and I've got a bounty pack. There is so much stuff, alot of it is ads for stuff and breast feeding. Hmm....

There is a huge book about money stuff in the pack, the words screwed come into mind.

Hope everyone is ok,
Ew

tomatoplantproject · 09/03/2012 19:38

Hello all you preggos! Had first day back at work and everyone has been lovely. Not sure how they'll take the news in a few weeks... Am now pooped.

So our big news is that we've just completed on a wreck. We've got a nice November deadline for completing the work (and creating a nursery which we'd budgeted for phase 2) and I've got the best excuse ever for getting out of horrible jobs. Are we the only ones to have or planning to upheave ourselves cos of making space for a new member of the family?
