I had my booking appointment today! All is well in my little bubble! I have my first scan booked for 25th April, when I will be 12+1. I've had my bloods and history taken. I have informed them of my intention to have a home birth, and to my utter surprise, the midwife was supportive, not at all negative - considering my history.
As I already knew, she is referring me for consultant led care, but I shall not be attending any hospital appointments unless there is an actual problem, and she is aware of this. I am quite happy for a home assessment from a supervisor of midwives as I have requested to see one who I know to respect the wishes and be supportive of women choosing to do things a little differently! She said they had supported a vbac lady at home last year, and all went well. She confirmed that they won't refuse a home birth if that is the womans choice. I know this, and she knows I know this, so hopefully, I will enjoy a stress free pregnancy!
We discussed if I go past 42 weeks, and I have stated that I intend to opt for expectant management, although as I laboured at 40+13 with my DS, I am optimistic for similar this time. I will not go through induction due to the risks, and neither will I agree to elective section just because I am 42 weeks, unless there are real problems.
The only thing me and DP are undecided on is screening tests. And if DP wants to attend parentcraft classes. I don't need to - but I think he would enjoy it, and it would be nice to meet other new mums in the area. We probably will go, and I'll pop some earplugs in, and he can ask me if xyz is really true later!
So, that is obstacle one over and done with! I am feeling really well today, no tiredness, no nausea, nothing! Me and the dog went for a walk earlier, and I was practically running ahead of her I had so much energy! And she is a Labrador, and not exactly slow!
