I think I'm going to stop using the Internet!! I'm liable to drive myself insane with all the potential risks!! I'm usually ok about things but might actuly go mad!!! Does anyone have a trouble free and infection free pregnancy?!

TheDetective · 06/03/2012 23:02

Yes, they do Horsey! Chill out, and enjoy!

GTbaby · 06/03/2012 23:08

let the puking begin. twice today, felt so rough at work left. a work colleague told me it was better to go home and rest a few days and come back feeling better... i was tempted to say 'i cant take 8 months off!'. but not telling work yet.

DH has not cut up an apple, and slowly trying to eat that :( feel so sad.

TheDetective · 06/03/2012 23:22

Sorry to hear that GT, I'm just waiting - for I know it will happen. Those who have had hyperemesis before are much more likely to have it again. I'm going to order some sickness bands off eBay to see if they help at least the nausea. I have intermittent nausea at present. I am hoping it doesn't happen til after saturday, as it is DS's birthday, and we are going to Blackpool Sandcastle, and I AM going on the rides, and will NOT let sickness spoil his my day!!!

I have another symptom - needing to pee every 2 hours. From a twice a day lady, this is madness! Grrrr. Need a pee now. Don't want to move.

Off to pee and sleep now - midwife appointment tomorrow. I'm all set for a challenge (another one) as I know they are going to hate me.

OMGBFP · 06/03/2012 23:33

Well our revelation didn't go exactly as planned, probably not helped by DP sitting pulled away from me and being very sulky (he was embarrassed and weirded out by telling them) his dad didn't say anything but then he rarely does lol and his mum was rather shell shocked and said to him I thought you didn't want kids. But she's going to start knitting so think it's just shellshock - we are still Shock too but slowly getting used to the idea.

I'm getting smell aversions now, chocolate and peanuts so far this evening. I'm going to be thinner when I give birth than I am when I got pg at this rate! (which is a good thing)

Good to see some older expectant mums here too, i'm 38 :)

Iheartpasties · 07/03/2012 07:51

Hi all, I just spent a few minutes catching up on everyones news.

I went to the GP today and got some blood taken so that they can confirm how far along I am, got to waot until friday for results. I can't wait to hear - just so that it feels more real! And fingers crossed their due date matches up with what I think :)

I can't wait for our holiday to the UK, only 3 weeks to go.

pipsicles · 07/03/2012 08:26

Hello ladies!

I have lots of twingy-ness that I don't remember from my first pg and had some spotting last week too, but I'm not worried - all normal stuff I think! I am nauseous on a daily basis - battling with smells is the worst! I went into the ladies at work yesterday and walked into a cubicle that hadn't flushed properly and that completely set me off! Right now (on my day off) I'm trying to deal with the smell of cat food - bluergh! Surprisingly, my bbs seem to be fairly normal. DH thinks my left might be a bit bigger, but apart from the odd pain here and there, particularly in my nipples, they seem rather normal. I only stopped bfing 3 months ag though, so wondering if it's because of that - I know there is still milk in there, so perhaps they don't need to change much?!

Something I read the other day (on the baby centre app I have on the iPad btw - it's great and gives a daily snippet of info and weekly pictures of what's going on) it said that ginger only really works to relieve nausea if you are suffering from cold spells, but if you are quite hot, then peppermint should be used - apparently, it's a yin yang thing. Maybe if you're one of the cold mummies out there, then ginger tea might help, even if you're not nauseous yet?

wifey6 · 07/03/2012 08:39

I've started feeling very nauseous in the morning now- & bouts throughout the day - never had this with DS. I was starting the day off with warm water & lemon but just the thought of it this morning is making it worse!! I was so smug that I never had morning sickness with DS--it's karma isn't it!!

Iheartpasties · 07/03/2012 08:50

wifey6, keep chanting 'it'll all be worth it' to yourself :)

wifey6 · 07/03/2012 09:02

Iheartpasties...absolutely Grin
Just can't believe how different it feels this time...

AbsToni · 07/03/2012 09:31

Horsey, forums have by default more people who have had or have pregnancy problems. Themajority of uncomplicated pregnancies do not come to the forums. And the normal, most likely, standard thing is to NOT have problems in pregnancy and have a healthy beautiful baby. I have been telling this to myself today just to help relax - really the default is that everything goes wells so enjoy!:):)

I am also feeling chilli most of the time (and the drizzle today while cycling up to work did not help). I was actually feeling weirdly cold every evening before I got the BFP, so might have been an early symptom for me:)

off to get a ginger tea as everyone recommends (I myself have found so far that peppermint works great), I am kind of moving in slow motion yesterday and today, everything seems to take longer than it should, but I am happy and I hope my nausea and symptoms don't get worse - if the whole pregnancy can be like this, I will be happy.

All of you preggoes here, enjoy your 5th or 6th week of the magical journey!:):)

OMGBFP · 07/03/2012 09:50

I've been feeling the cold too but just assumed it was cause it's cold, never knew it could be a symptom Confused

I think I have a chest infection brewing, I feel bloody rotten Sad is there anything I can take?

On a brighter note after DP feeling/being rather awkward last night in front of his folks (even though it was him who wanted them to know asap) he said in bed, "you do know I'm chuffed to bits don't you?" awwwwww :)

Bimbledorf · 07/03/2012 10:34

Hi everyone! I have just moved boards from the 2ww which completely freaks me out. I have been such a poas addict that I couldn't actually believe there was finally a line!!

So, I am not quite 4 weeks, due Nov 17th apparently. This will be my DC3 I have a DS7 and a DD4 (soon to be 5). We have put off and put off #3 but have never got rid of the urge to have one more, so HERE WE GO! Shock

Look forward to sharing the journey with you all! (need to go and read through the last 10 pages now)

HelloBear · 07/03/2012 11:27

Hi Ladies

I am off work today with a terrible cold :( Also glad to read that other people are feeling cold, I have not been able to get warm over the last week, did not realise that it was a symptom. I am currently sat under a blanket wearing a vest, long sleeve top and two jumpers and still cold!!! But I will NOT succumb to putting the heating on as now have a baby to save for.

Is anyone else really hungry? I lost a little weight in the first 12 weeks last time due to sickness and being off my food but then went to put on loads. So slightly worried that if I eat my way through the first trimester I am going to be HUGE!!!

OMGBFP · 07/03/2012 11:36

I'm really going to have to watch what I eat as I am obese a leetle bit overweight already and also as I have a back injury and can't afford to put much strain on it or i will end up bedridden Sad already had to come to terms with the fact my back consultant told me that I will have to have a C section and probably be GA rather than epidural due to my back problem.

probably helps I have a stinker of a cold and not much appetite and I am only eating really plain things, had a chicken breast and a couple spoonfuls of rice and veg last night for instance, anything not bland is not appealing but not sure if that's more down to my cold.

hope you feel better soon hellobear, it stinks that we are ill with something non pg related and feel like crud

GTbaby · 07/03/2012 13:04

Trying peppermint tea. Wish me luck Envy

DonnaDoon · 07/03/2012 13:20

How do you all feel about private early scans? Purely for impatient excited people like me I know they are not cheap and my dh says to just wait but its so hard...I just want to see my bean and then I can relax iyswim.

DonnaDoon · 07/03/2012 13:21

ps good luck GT

AbsToni · 07/03/2012 14:06

DonnaDoon, good question. I was just wondering the same. I think of going for a private early scan in week 6 or 7 just for the fun of it - because I don't want to wait till week 12 on the NHS. It will also be good know that everything is at the right place, plus you can have a usb with the scan for you to take home and keep:) It is like the FIRST scan and is so exciting, i would like to make somehow a little event out of it.

On the other hand, I don't feel like giving the money - it is very expencive. Also, a scan will not change anything and if the baby is meant to be it will be. Also I am just scared - what if there is some concern and what if when it is so early it is difficult for them to judge yet - i am so happy at the moment, hoping and believing everything is fine, why would I risk changing this....?

So these were just my thoughts, I will decide as the time goes by. Will love to hear other comments and thoughts.

horseylady · 07/03/2012 14:20

No I'll wait to 12 weeks or longer I'm seeing the midwife three weeks today assuming everything still ok. Feeling ok today think telling work mate helped loads!! I feel almost normal today?? First time in nearly too weeks!!

OMGBFP · 07/03/2012 14:24

I couldn't afford a private scan so not an option but even if it was think I would wait till the 12 week one. Even if you see a dot at 6 weeks doesn't mean everything will be ok so I think it's an unneccesary expense

Tiago · 07/03/2012 14:41

Assuming that I'm still pregnant, I'll be having a private scan at 8 or 9 weeks. Unless I can get one on the nhs of course.

Elizadoesdolittle · 07/03/2012 14:46

I think I might go for a private 8 wk scan. I had one with my DD by accident (not private) as they got my dates wrong. I have really irregular cycles. However this time I'm pretty sure of my dates as I was monitoring them closely (wasn't really trying first time round). I know that there are no guarantees that if everything is ok at 8 weeks it will be the same at 12 but there's a good possibility it will be. I haven't completely decided yet. Got my gp appointment on 16th march, will see how I feel then.

Stuntnun · 07/03/2012 16:53

How much does it cost to have a private scan? I'm thinking about having one later on to find out the gender because I won't be able to wait to find out! It's a shame they won't tell you anymore, although with DS1 you couldn't have missed it on the scan so if we hadn't wanted to know we would have been disappointed.
