Ninja, seconding Wants's thoughts - that's precisely what I'm experiencing as braxton hicks. I'm getting them a lot during the day - especially when walking, but they're not at all uncomfortable then. Oddly they're more uncomfortable if I get them when sitting down, so have to get up and wander around a bit to ease the pain! Hope your party is lovely! :)

Wants, sorry to hear about the back pain - definitely sounds like sciatica. I'd advise seeing your doctor and getting a quick referral to a physio - they can usually suggest some things to help :) Be really careful about your posture - check you're sitting properly on chairs and sofas, and walking as tall as you can. All sounds daft, but it can really help!

Thanks for the two cups a day advice Dream! Still three weeks shy of 32 weeks, but had been wondering how much to take (have already bought the teabags in preparation). I definitely read somewhere that the Britax had been tested up to a high speed - but as you say, probably by other people other than Britax! I can't remember precisely what it was I read and where, but DH was happy..!

Pomme, very excited about the impending arrival :) Still brooking that you'll avoid the crochet hook though!

Too, sorry your omg moment earlier was just an upset tummy. I'll join you in the mad imagination camp though - I'm constantly overthinking every twinge (and have been since day one!). Cold's a lot better thanks - it's just a head cold now, so although I'm a bit cotton wooly with a bunged up nose and sore throat, the shivers and aches have stopped.. hurrah! Bought a baby monitor in Bluewater, but didn't get much done towards the hospital bag - postponed until tomorrow I think!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 26/02/2012 18:38

This time tomorrow we might already have our second No Brooking Baby! (Sneeze births are very quick after all). Best of luck to Pomme! I'm still No Brooking that spontaneous labour will start up before the induction though!

Also No Brooking for Purple's bean to get a move on as well!

I had friends over on fri and sat so it was a lovely weekend until this morning when for no apparent reason I had a total panic attack about going through a c-section. Rather than stay inside freaking out I twisted DH's arm very sweetly talked DH into taking me up to Hamleys. I love Hamleys, it's just one of my absolute favourite shops. I picked out a GORGEOUS bear for the LO, called Popcorn, which reminded me a little of the first bear my parents bought for me (which I still have). I know it'll be MONTHS before the baby is ready to interact with toys, but I really hope this will become a keepsake for her. It cheered me up anyway, and took my mind off more scary thoughts! Sadly my hips are KILLING me now, but I feel much calmer mentally.

Sorry to hear about Wants' leg pain and Too's upset tummy. I think we could do with some No Brooking for general elimination of annoying pg symptoms!

scarletfingernail · 26/02/2012 18:58

Will catch up properly later, just wanted to nip on and wish pomme all the very best for tomorrow. I'll be brooking like mad all day for an easy birth for you, and looking forward to hearing all about DD2 once she's arrived Smile. I'm very, very excited for you.

pommedechocolat · 26/02/2012 19:02

Thanks everyone! I will update as soon as possible.

Dd1 has developed hand foot and mouth this pm which adds some complications but attempting to stay positive rather than collapse in sodden heap. Do wish inlaws weren't here though!

Biscuitsandtea · 26/02/2012 19:03

Also just nipping to say GOOD LUCK to Pomme for tomorrow. As ever I'm hoping something might happen of its own accord before then but if not I hope the induction is ok and you get your baby without too much effort waiting. Hope we are hearing news soon Smile

Sorry to hear about the various other aches and pains and dodgy tummies Sad. Hope they all clear up.

We've finally just had our pancakes - yum! After 2 nutella and banana pancakes, DS just said 'what's for pudding?' Seriously? Hmm

Biscuitsandtea · 26/02/2012 19:05

Cross post Pomme - so sorry to hear about poor DD1 and the HFM Sad. Will your in-laws still be able to look after her while you're in? Hope it's not too bad for her and it doesn't make things any lore complicated xx

pommedechocolat · 26/02/2012 19:05

I have also been wondering where purple is... She said Sunday was perfect...

jenfraggle · 26/02/2012 19:11
PurpleWithaBlueBun · 26/02/2012 19:26

I am still here! I have postponed my labour until after Tues evening as DH has a training thing he doesn't want to miss tomorrow and my tens isn't turning up until Tuesday. I am hoping for labour soon! However, I have had slightly disheartening MW appt as the baby has gone a bit OP. After me spending frigging hours on my ball! It could be due to the shape of my pelvis as DD was persistent OP. the OP bit in itself doesn't worry me, I just need the pressure on my cervix, which is harder to achieve with OP to help me go into labour.

I am shattered, had my tutorial today and this was after my morning mw appt.

I have somehow buggared my wrist up in my sleep which is annoying as it is only minimally weight bearing, always extra annoying when there seems to be no cause!

RLT build up to 4 cups a day, or if your like me build up a bit and then double bag for two super strong cups...

Pomme I am excited for you tomorrow and really hope it is easy and straight forward!

Sorry for being so whingey! I have been a tad fed up and was hiding in my room on Sat a lot as DH was just irritating my hormones and I was being so unbelievably and unreasonably grumpy!!

Hopefully early night for me tonight and Pomme I hope you get some decent sleep, I know I didn't sleep well the night before my induction with DD :)

pommedechocolat · 26/02/2012 19:43

Good work on postponement to better day purple :)

Inlaws will still be looking after dd. they're great with her really just very intense and I feel unable to relax just pre or post with them. I am now mainly fretting about missing dd1!

DreamingOfPeace · 26/02/2012 19:50

Ooh, pomme, what a shame about dd1 with HFM. I hope she gets away with it lightly unlike mine did . Complicated as in for the labour and birth of dd2 or not wanting to take dd2 home into a house full of pestilence?! Either way, I hope she shakes it off ASAP and its no trouble for you and dd2. I will be thinking of you tomorrow and hoping it all goes well. and waiting desperately for the birth announcement

purple, I knew you'd know re RLT. Nice to hear you've postponed your birth til Wed. Spaces out these sneeze-born No Brooking babies a bit. :-) . What a shame about your wrist. Of course it will be better by Wed.

My BH are also more uncomfortable sat down musical, and worst in the car!

Love it biscuits,I wish dd would eat a bit better. I ate 3 pancakes of the banana/ nutella variety today as i am a greedy pig and have discovered not eating a proper evening meal helps the reflux and so therefore my sleep LOADs. Might join fishcake in the cereal for tea plan.

Err, on phone, can't remember the rest!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 26/02/2012 20:10

Can't wait for Pomme's birth story! (Naturally it will go something like - "Well at 2a.m. suddenly my waters broke, followed by incredibly strong and yet completely painless contractions. We rushed into hospital and just as I got into the delivery room I gave a MASSIVE SNEEZE and the mw had to dive down and catch DD2! They did a couple of checks (all perfect) and we were home by the scheduled induction time of 8 a.m.!")

Also, I must confess I had a good look around through the old threads for Hawthers' birth story, but I'm not sure if Hawthers had time (or maybe just didn't want to - fair enough!). If Hawthers does feel like sharing her birth story at any time I'd be fascinated to hear that as well! I have a million elcs questions!

DreamingOfPeace · 26/02/2012 20:26

scream, I'm also bricking it about ELCS. Mainly the recovery time, a potential 3 days in hospital away from my dd (never been away from her before) and seriously wondering if I'm doing the right thing... LOVE your anticipated birth story for pomme :-)

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 26/02/2012 20:31

Grin at Scream's version of Pomme's birth story.

Pomme, you do have a smartphone for continuous MN updates during labour, right? I have to confess that I am planning to buy a smartphone in the next week just so I can MN while I'm in hospital for 3 days Blush. I do need a new phone, as have been using my work one for the last 3 years and now I have to give it back. I don't need a smartphone, but I want one! Payday is tomorrow and then we'll be off phone shopping as soon as possible after that. I need some time to figure out how it works.

Purple, a Wednesday birth sounds good - unless you want to avoid the Feb 29th date? Confused

OP posts:
pommedechocolat · 26/02/2012 20:35

I love that birth story too -please please universe listen to lovely scream!!

Dream - just complicated because then dd can't really come on the ward so then I might not see her for 3-4 days which seems impossible to me like you. Then it's balancing that up against not wanting dd2 infected. SIGH!

Too - have smart phone but signal at hospital is really bad but am planning on trying my best to post on here during the process!

scarletfingernail · 26/02/2012 20:44

Grin at Scream's birth story for Pomme Very jealous of your trip to Hamleys, I love it in there. Too far for me though.

Sorry to hear about everyone's aches and pains, BHs and stomach upsets. I'm afraid I've only got more to add to the list. My poor fanjo is making it so hard to walk now. I'm also getting lots of sharp kicks in that area, so guessing that the baby has moved around yet again Confused.

I avoided coming on yesterday because my whole post would have been a massive MIL rant. 3 conversations left me feeling very annoyed but I shan't bore you with them all. This one was a corker though "you must refuse a CS if they say you need one. That's the last thing you need because it'll be so inconvenient for DH's name if you're unable to drive. He'll have so much to do already anyway." Shock and Hmm and Angry Spoke to my Mum about it today and managed to laugh about it. Just a little bit...

jenfraggle · 26/02/2012 20:45

Wednesday is good for me purple as I have the dreaded GTT that day and will be in such a state with my needle phobia that it will be a welcome distraction. DH has taken the day off to take me and the MW has said that there will be wheelchairs available to help me get to the car to get home after. Blush

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 26/02/2012 20:45

Too I am going to be looking a bit at phones tomorrow as it is payday! More for a decent camera I think... I hate spending money on phones though, really begrudge it!

I don't mind a 29th Birthday, however a weekend would suit me as well.

Scream I think you may have a talent for birth story telling! Sounds great!

Pomme I hope DD1 recovers soon and it is just a very minor infection.

I am another one wondering about missing my little DD, I don't like being away from her and also not sure how I will sleep without DH either! I left hospital last time mostly because of missing DH and now I have Dd to miss too!

Also IL are crap at putting DD to bed at a reasonable hour and she will get really overtired so dreading having a new baby, being shattered and then having a miserable Dd!

You have all made me want pancakes now!

hawthers · 26/02/2012 21:11

Me me someone mention me?

Hmm not sure I ever did a birth story but will be on the night shift later so will tap it out (tis rather uneventful).

Hope all you preggos are glowing

Biscuitsandtea · 26/02/2012 21:24

Shock at your MIL Scarlet!!! That's a classic! Imagine him having to drive you around, when all you've done is had a baby! I assume your DH does not consider this would be an inconvenience?

Pomme and Purple, I am tres tres excited about both babies arriving, with minimal pain, this week! It's going to be so hard though missing the littlies isn't it! I mean, DS has stayed with Grandparents for the odd night, but I think I'll really miss him when I'm away for something so bloody uncomfortable like this. Not that it is his job to 'make me feel better' or anything, but I think I will miss him if I have to stay in.

The hospital bag is packed here now at chez Biscuits, and DS's little trunki is packed ready in case he needs it Smile.

Bump has been much more painful today - but I'm not even kidding myself that this is a 'sign' - I need to be more patient!!

DH just had to blow up my birthing ball himself because the pump broke after one pump! He'd got it to 80% yesterday but then as it got fuller obv it got much harder. So we thought we'd try the pump and it just broke! Poor DH! Confused

Anyway, I think I'm off to bed now - catch you all tomorrow for lots of birth excitement Grin

DreamingOfPeace · 26/02/2012 21:31

Oh, I like uneventful, will hang around look out for your birth (& recovery!) story hawthers. And any advice.

The reality of being away from dd, at all, is panicking me.... She won't understand. She's still not going to bed well, bedtime battles have not disappeared. I'm almost wondering whether to go for vb and 6 hour discharge as I'd originally thought when I first got pg... I can't sleep in hospital anyway- couldn't last time anyway. Argh!!!

NinjaChipmunk · 26/02/2012 21:50

what an exciting week coming up! I shall brook no argument that these lovely babies will pop out super quick, exactly when needed, latch on like they know exactly what to do, all in laws and dc will behave perfectly in your absence and all recovery time is minimal.
I shall miss ds soooo much when I go in even if its just for a short time. I think I'm going to take a nice picture of him in with me, if anything it'll remind me why I'm putting myself through this again.

fishcakefoxtrot · 26/02/2012 22:25

Good luck tomorrow Pomme! I reckon we are all going to be astounded by Scream's ability to predict the future come this time tomorrow.
I hope you and Scarlet get your inlaw issues sorted out. Are yours still there, Scarlet? Do feel free to share some of your grumbles with us- I ranted enough about my mother!

Musical good to hear that the car seat is brooking-endorsed. I am defo going to order one now.

I too am not looking forward to being away from DD whilst in hospital as I have not spent a night away from her. However, a friend who tried for a VBAC for this very reason (but ended up with a section anyway) said that it actually gave her an opportunity to bond with her new baby without feeling guilty that she wasn't giving her attention to her dc, so I am clinging onto that thought.

scarletfingernail · 26/02/2012 22:31

I've not told DH about it Biscuits. I was too busy ranting to him about the other 2 things which annoyed me more but aren't pregnancy related. The fact is, it would be more inconvenient for us if I have to have a CS, of course, but that's hardly good enough reason to refuse one if I was advised that I should have one! As if I'm going to be in an emergency situation and say "oh no I couldn't possibly, it's too inconvenient for DH" Hmm

Fishcake it's Pomme who has her ILs staying with her. Mine fortunately are not! I mostly get on well with mine, I just rant every now and then a bit as they are very opinionated and vocal with it. It's never a case of them considering that there could be a difference of opinion, just that they're right so you must be wrong IYSWIM?

Purple I'm brooking no argument that your little boy will turn back round again in time for the birth. Get back on that ball!

dream please tell me you wouldn't come home 6 hours after the birth to do your sitting on the landing thing? Sad Even if you did come home you wouldn't be the one having to do the bedtime battle would you?

I'm also really starting to worry now about DS and what he'll be like while I'm in hospital. I am planning on staying in hospital though until at least after the 24 hour paediatrician check, I'm too much of a worrier to bring the baby home before that. Those of you who have DC already, will they be coming into hospital to see you and the baby? I think DS probably will come and see me (depending on how long I'm in). I remember reading the following that seems really good advice. Don't be holding the baby when DC1 arrives, make sure it's in the cot already so that you can completely focus on greeting DC1. I suppose it's common sense, but I hadn't considered it.

fishcakefoxtrot · 26/02/2012 22:55

Whoops! When you said about your conversations I just assumed they were staying. no idea why Confused

DH will definitely bring DD in, unless there is a very good reason not to. The baby-in-cot advice sounds good. I am going to take a small present in as well. I am hoping that by the time she comes in I will be mobile but I suppose that will depend on what time I have csection. If it is late morning/ early afternoon then it will probably best for her not to come in until the next day Sad

Re the 6 hour discharge- they do that at the hospital I am going to for people who have straightforward deliveries and my colleague did it for her second. Her dc was born in the morning and she still had all the normal checks etc before going home in the afternoon. Is there a separate 24 hour check? I can't remember!
