Hawthers little F is gorgeous! Sorry to hear you are having weight bothers though. I remember the stress of regular weigh ins with DD. I am sure if we had gone less frequently her weight gain would have seemed steady but instead it was monitored so closely that every fluctuation was noted. She actually dropped off the curve altogether a couple of times but was otherwise quite happy so it was just a case of wait and see. And now she is fine, just little and bossy Grin

wants hope your mw's computer is fixed soon! People say daft things about bumps- someone at toddler group said she hadn't realised I was pregnant! I am HUGE!

Musical the Shred is a hellish exercise DVD but it only last 30 mins. You are meant to do every day for 30 days but I think I might take a bit slower than that...

Too 2 weeks Grin that's so soon! The sleep issue was most likely caused by the hot flushes that I had after the first injection. Hopefully you won't get this- you want at least a semi-decent night sleep before your Bean arrives!

Pomme so exciting that you have a show! That baby is going to be here by the end of the weekend and i will brook no argument.

Re growth scans- I'm sure I was told that they could be a pound out either way, which seems like a huge margin! Dream, Scarlet, Hawthers (and anyone else with experience of this) does this sound right? I have another one next week so I must remember to ask what the margin of error is.

Anyway, I really must go to bed. I have reached the point of tiredness caused by DD waking and my heartburn where I start to feel that there is no point trying to go to bed because I will be up again soon enough. Which is just daft. Also, if anyone wants to send nesting vibes this way, I would be very grateful. I have soooo much to do but I barely manage to push the hoover around these days, let alone get things ready for a baby Blush

Biscuitsandtea · 25/02/2012 07:13

Fishcake, we were told by my consultant at the growth scan that the margin of error was +/- 25% - which is pretty big! And she said that the errors were often bigger at the two extremes sinus they were seeing a v big or a v small baby it was more likely to be inaccurate. Handy really since it's the v big and v small babies that need the scans. Confused

So our measurements suggested a baby weighing 6lb 14oz on Tuesday, but I think with a 25% range I worked out that could go from something like 5lb 3oz - 8lb 9oz, which is an enormous range.

And based on that I would think they could easily be a lb out either way (on the basis that they are presumably a full 25% out less often)

Hope that helps Smile

NinjaChipmunk · 25/02/2012 08:36

Morning! Gosh has anyone else read the thread on the pregnancy board by the poor young lady whose dp does nothing to help her? I feel so sad for her situation. And makes me so glad for what I've got.
Off into london today to see mil and fil. Poor ds has a terrible cough, hope it calms down soon.
Will check back in to see if any babies have arrived later x

musicalmrs · 25/02/2012 09:08

Fishcake, yikes that DVD sounds hellish! But effective though I imagine! I'll definitely be doing some exercise to help my body get back to its normal self (starting from as soon as I go on maternity leave actually - gentle Wii Fit type things, but I'm used to walking lots to/from/at work, so don't want to get out of the habit!)... thinking that DVD looks a tad too scary for my liking though!

Wants, I had a similar problem with MW's computer and not having all the information yesterday - didn't have my blood results on it! Hmm. She said we'd have already heard if there were any problems though...

Ninja, I've read that thread, so sad :( Makes me incredibly glad too - of course there are times when DH does something to annoy me, but reading something like that makes you really appreciate how much they do do.

Completely full of cold today. As in, head aching, full of cotton wool, aching all over cold. I used to think these were me getting fluey, but I think it's just the way my body deals with bad colds - urgh! At least the only chore I have to do is ironing :)

Biscuitsandtea · 25/02/2012 09:29

Mmmm yes, I've seen that thread too - so Sad. And I thought your comments were very fair and helpful Ninja. I so nearly posted on there myself about how life needs to be more of a team effort or a partnership. As you say, it makes you so glad for what you have. And I'm saying this when DH does hardly anything at the moment due to his workload. I mean he is working at least 6 days a week at the moment and long hours too so, generally speaking, I'm doing everything around the house and looking after DS on my own. HOWEVER, I know that he appreciates what I do, I'm not having to do college or whatever it is that girl has to do, and when he is here we work as a team! He does the heavy lifting etc for me and whatever he can when he's here. I just feel do sorry for her, because it's so easy for everyone to say 'leave him, you can do better'. No doubt she could find someone better but it would be so hard for her while she gets straight. The end result would be better for her, but it would be tough to get there - so sad Sad

DreamingOfPeace · 25/02/2012 09:45

fishcake, I am so lucky my dad is helping financially so we have just got a cleaner which is stopping further degeneration here for now... Or I'd be stuffed, not enough energy now. And I have washed some hand me down babygros we have but not even got our bags of clothes down from the loft to sort through... So not cardys or anything and we did have all unisex ones. So I'm not so far along either. No hospital bag packed, still... But one cotbed is built- not in our room and angle-wise couldn't be moved there, but dh will build the other in our room closer to the time. So I'm not that far ahead...

Hoping pomme goes into labour today. Shortly followed by purple at some point next week.

pommedechocolat · 25/02/2012 10:58

Oh god pils coming this pm and dm going home as dh wants to see them. Please please let labour happen soon. A day and a half with them when I'm in this mood (grumpy as hell) will be rubbish.

Doing lots of cooking and house stuff this am to get house and freezer ready.

Dream - you are still superwoman to me!

Scarlet - good work on baby size! Bean obviously very happy in there!

fishcakefoxtrot · 25/02/2012 11:19

Musical I will definitely be waiting a good while before starting the Shred, don't worry Grin no busting out some moves in the postnatal ward or anything here Grin I did manage to get quite fit in the year after DD was born but then another 18 months of spending any free time sitting in front of the computer writing my thesis turned me into a rather wobbly person (I'm sure that's at least partly why I've had so many more back/pelvis problems this time round) and I am really keen to get back to reasonable fitness. The town we are moving too is really hilly so I will need to be a bit fitter to get a buggy up the hills!

Biscuits that margin is huge! It makes me glad that my scans are to look for growth over time rather than guestimate actual size.

Pomme i think an inlaw visit is a perfect excuse for lengthy walks to get the baby moving...

Right, DH has taken DD out because I have work to do so I should get on. I too have a cold and feel rather cotton-wooly so I am secretly enjoying the peace...

fishcakefoxtrot · 25/02/2012 11:27

Anyone got any thoughts or experience of the Britax First Class Plus car seat? The John Lewis woman was very enthusiastic and I like the fact that the baby can stay rear facing for a bit longer (presumably until their legs are too long?) but it seems like a big seat for a small baby Confused

Right really am going to get on now.

Biscuitsandtea · 25/02/2012 13:54

I've never really looked at that one Fishcake, but just having looked briefly, am I right that it can rear face up until 13kg? Then turn to be forward facing? I've just looked up the maxi cosi Cabriofix, and that goes up to 12kg, so it doesn't seem like you're getting much 'extra' rear facing time with the Britax one? A little extra certainly but 1kg doesn't seem much?

And I liked being able to lift DS out of the car in his cabrio without it waking him up.

I guess it does save you buying a separate group 1 car seat though?

I'm certainly no expert though Grin

Wants3 · 25/02/2012 17:00

I found out how fickle people are with their bump size comments today! After the huge comments yesterday, I had ds1's friends mum comment on my neat bump today :)
I went to an NCT sale today and got a few bits but now my butt is killing me!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 25/02/2012 22:31

Poor you, Wants - hope it's feeling better now. See, no one has any clue what size pg women are meant to be!

Fishcake, I too want a nice recovery period before starting Shredding! Last time around I tried starting it at about 8 weeks post-natal and my pelvic floor was not up to the challenge Blush. This time I will have a CS scar to contend with, plus having a small baby and bf, none of which applied then. All I was doing was sitting around driving myself crazy about my wobbly body. It was May and none of my summer clothes fitted and I was still off work so had heaps of time on my hands...I shall be more sensible this time.

Pomme, is a show not enough reason to postpone in-laws? I would really not want mine around when I was hoping to go into labour at any minute.

Musical, I bet Mamma Mia was great - I love singing along to the film, even if it is totally cheesy.

Haven't seen this thread about unhelpful DPs - shall go look.

I have been in town all day and have had my eyebrows waxed and my hair cut. DH dropped me off for my eyebrow appt and I had them done and went to pay and discovered my bank card was gone! It was a horrible moment - I suddenly remembered handing my card to DH on Wed night so he could get cash out and not getting it back. And DH didn't answer his phone because he was driving, so I had to call my sister and her boyfriend came down to lend me cash (luckily they live very close to where I was). DH managed to pay for my haircut over the phone, thank goodness.

Then Mum, DSis and I went a bit mad in JoJo Maman Bebe and Baby Gap. Bean now has a range of adorable outfits in 0-3 and 3-6 months, plus a Moomintroll stuffed toy. We got her a little white furry suit with ears and pawprints on the feet! It's so cute. Have only just got home - spent the evening at DSis's with a couple of friends and am completely knackered.

OP posts:
pommedechocolat · 25/02/2012 23:47

Too - they will be looking after dd when we go into hospital so unfortunately can't postpone. It is making me feel a bit more inhibited though!

Quite stressed and teary tonight and can't sleep. Dd2 has been moving but not as much as normal over the evening period. Was about to ring in (my consultant has left me under strict orders about movements etc this week as she would have preferred to have induced me earlier) then she did some bigger ones so haven't but can see myself doing it first thing if no improvement. She is moving but pushes not kicks and a big less than normal. Bump very tight though.

Also dh has totally failed to deliver on his promise of managing the back end of pils visit so that I could come home from hospital to empty house. Pils will be staying till thurs at least as fil has meeting in London weds and they will be staying in our house. Had bad visit with them 3 days post dd's birth and am now dreading coming home with my baby :(

Sorry for being all mememe but am not expert enough to join car seat debate! Musical and too sounds like you've had someone pampering/retail experiences going on though!

pommedechocolat · 25/02/2012 23:56

Someone = some lovely. Not sure if iPhone or baby brain responsible.

musicalmrs · 26/02/2012 08:14

Fishcake, we have bought the Britax First Class Plus for our LO! Theory being that we wanted one that was rear facing to begin with, and that would last them until they were older - as Biscuits said, it saves buying the separate group 1 car seat. It had good reviews everywhere. I think they've just bought out a new 'range' for this yr, and we got one slightly cheaper from the end of last year's stock. Our thinking is that due to the way my freelance work works, we won't know what financial position we'll be in in a year's time, so didn't want to get a car seat that we'd have to replace in a years time!

It has a lovely cosy thing inside it for small babies - and of course you could always buy a separate one like a snuzzler or something if you're worried! It is a huge seat though, though I suppose that's understandable if it's meant to last that long!

Wants, I have the same thing with comments! One of my oldest friends is here at the moment, and has said that I look exactly the same as pre-pregnancy just with a huge bump - which is nice at least!

Too, Mamma Mia was great thanks! Grin Cheesy, but great. DH's choice (as it's been on his want to see list for some time!). I personally can't wait to go and see Matilda - but it was sold out this weekend, hence going for the Abba!

And eeek, scary about the bank card! Glad you got it all sorted though :) I always check I have a card etc with me - very paranoid about that kind of thing.

Pomme, so sorry to hear about the in laws. Why are they staying so long?! I can understand wanting to stay because of your fil's meeting, but can't they see it's terribly inconvenient?! I hope you have a room you can shut yourself away in with DD2 (and DD1?) and escape for a bit?

Still feeling rubbishly full of cold. Feeling a bit rubbish for ruining DH's nice long weekend too :( Not sure what our plans are today - think we were going to go wander round Bluewater (I've never been!), but depends on how I feel. Still haven't wrapped up his presents yet and it's his birthday tomorrow.. oops! On the plus side, we might do the hospital bag today, just because we won't have much free time together for the next few weeks! I have my master list from when you were all discussing contents a while back, so I might print off a copy and get shopping...!

scarletfingernail · 26/02/2012 08:51

Oh pomme sorry about the in laws, I'd be seriously unimpressed too. Do you think you could stretch your hospital stay until Thurs? I'd be tempted if the alternative was feeling cross and stressed at home. My MW friend tells me it's a common request and if there's room for you still you could say you'd rather stay in to get BF established? Not ideal but at least you wouldn't have to play host. How bloody inconsiderate, is there no B&B option for them for when you come out? I suppose worse case scenario Thurs isn't too bad, you'll probably be in hospital til Wednesday anyway?

NinjaChipmunk · 26/02/2012 09:27

morning all. pomme I was thinking the same as musical suggested about extending your hospital stay as long as possible. My MIL and FIL will be away till a week after beans due date (in America) and live about 5 hours away anyway so when they do come down they will be staying in a hotel thank god (although they are v nice, just a little full on). My folks are only 1.5 hrs away so either will stay at ours to look after ds whilst I am in hospital or will take him to theirs for a day or two by the seaside till I'm out. But I am well and truly getting ahead of myself here. How are dd2's movements today pomme? Hope you get some bigger ones. Bean (although considerably smaller at this stage than yours currently is) doesn't seem to do many big kicks, but I think she gets into a position where she kicks inwardly rather than outwardly so I can't feel it anywhere near as much.
Also can anyone tell me is braxton hicks when your bump goes hard and feels rather tight? We were up in town yesterday and by the afternoon my bump was rock hard and felt quite solid. DS has crusty 'eye-itis' as he calls it. I think I will be giving lots of saltwater eyebaths today in an effort to avert full blown conjunctivitus.
The sky is blue and once again the sun is out, yay!! We have a party this afternoon so got to go buy a pressie in a bit but otherwise should be a quiet day I think. Hope everyone is well. Have any babies appeared overnight?

NinjaChipmunk · 26/02/2012 09:28

sorry scarlet got yours and musicals posts mixed up.

Wants3 · 26/02/2012 12:07

Morning all, unfortunately my pain in the butt has got worse, radiating across my back and down my leg with shooting pains if I walk any distance:( I am also feeling headachy and light headed so not a good day for me! The sky is blue and the sun is shining here too so not all bad.
Ime ninja your stomach goes really hard and tight when you have braxton hicks! They shouldn't be painful but can be mildly uncomfortable especially if walking at the time. I am having them everyday now so am expecting a quick sneeze birth when the time comes:) talking of which, can you get RLT capsules in supermarkets or do you have to go to health food shops?

jaggythistle · 26/02/2012 12:23

ouch wants! i seem to get butt pain if i stand or sit too long, hope yours subsides soon.

my pelvis also seems a bit clicky when i turn over at night this week and i woke up a bit achy. didn't think I'd need the crane to help maneuvers (

Wants3 · 26/02/2012 13:04

I know I won't be able to drink the tea but still want the possible benefits. It is on this thread somewhere but can't be bothered to look back so when do you start RLT?

pommedechocolat · 26/02/2012 13:40

Hey all feeling better now! Dh has promised to sort in laws so we will see. I had some very uncomfortable cramps in the night and dd2 did lots of those painful grind head on cervix things so not so worried now but didn't get any sleep!

Rushing headlong towards crochet hook now!

Wants - ouch! Sorry to hear about your pelvis. Brooking that it gets better for you.

DreamingOfPeace · 26/02/2012 14:25

32 weeks I think wants! Well, I've started drinking it just in case. No idea how much I should be drinking though, I'm doing 2 cups a day?? purple will know.

Come on pommes DD2!!!! Get that labour cracking to avoid the crochet hook! . And you poor thing, racing towards induction on no sleep Sad . But still, you may be like my friend and ahve a 2 hour induction beginning to end, that'd be good!

AFAIK Britaz don't test their seats above the legal requirements, so only test up to 40mph crash which is all they need to do- BeSafe, MaxiCosi and can't rmeember who else do go up to 'high speed' 70mph crash testing. But that particular Britax has been Which? tested at all speeds and gets a Best Buy. As I know I'll be going for extended RF for all our children i'm not too worried, and will have to do some moving in/out of car of baby seats so will stick with a group one- unless the First Class (or BabySafe) sits on our borrowed Britax base and looks better in our car, in which case may go for it... No padding in ours, and it's far too upright- hate it.

Right, need a ,lie down, sorry, I know I've missed loads of people out

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 26/02/2012 15:26

Pomme, glad to hear DD2 got moving and reassured you! Ouch at the head-cervix thing, though. Excitement at tomorrow for you - what time do you have to go in? How quickly will the birth announcement follow? Our second Brooking Bean!

I think that's the American spelling, Jaggy. Ouch at the clicky pelvis. Mine does that too, but it's not as painful as it was a couple of months back, weirdly.

Wants, hope you're feeling better and yes you will have a quick sneeze birth!

Ninja, yes, BH make your bump go rock solid and feel very tight. I'm having some most days now.

Musical, how's the cold? Did you get out to Bluewater and get your hospital bag stuff sorted? I still have to do mine - won't be today, though!

Had an omg, am I in labour moment earlier, but sadly it turned out to be just an upset tummy Blush. Think my imagination is running riot! Must calm down and stop wondering if every twinge is impending labour...

OP posts:
pommedechocolat · 26/02/2012 16:14

Upset tummy can be a sign though too...

In for 8am tomorrow am if when we ring at 7am they're not manically busy! Nervous now!
