Scarlet - Don't know much about buggy boards I'm afraid. I doubt we'll bother as DS rarely goes in the buggy now unless he's fallen asleep in the car, which wouldn't really work with a buggy board unless I tied him onto it with a bungy cord HmmGrin

I also worry about how hard it would be to push with the best part of 3 stone of DS between me and the handle (yup, still lazy!)

Hope the builders are done soon though. I remember one of my NCT friends having her kitchen done just before she was due with her DS, and she said she was sat at the top of the stairs with a kettle and a microwave just sobbing about it all. But once it was all done she could forget about it - and she has a gorgeous kitchen to show for it now. And I'm sure you'll look round once it's all done, and as you say, it'll finally be how you've planned it and you can enjoy living in it.

Just keep ticking those days off Smile

Biscuitsandtea · 15/02/2012 16:41

Well at least DS has had the decency to fall asleep before he's sat at the dinner table today Hmm.

I just went out (to the kitchen, not the shop or anything) to get him a drink, came back and he's curled up fast asleep on the sofa. Thing is he doesn't want to go for naps because he's not used to them anymore, but being poorly just can't make it through a whole day. Bless him.....

Munx · 15/02/2012 19:17

Apologies for silence...... To avoid freaking out too much I banned myself from MN.

Early scan today, heartbeat seen! Just over 8 weeks!

Hope you are all doing OK.

Biscuitsandtea · 15/02/2012 19:18

I've said it on the other thread, but I'm so pleased I'll say it again here - well done you!!! AWESOME news! Grin

Do you have booking in appts and stuff to sort out now?

scarletfingernail · 15/02/2012 19:38

Fantastic news Munx. I had been wondering about you and hoped all was well. So pleased to hear you had a lovely scan today.

Munx · 15/02/2012 19:40

Yes, am going to be brave and book a midwife appointment. Still worried and nervous.....but trying to stay positive!

Thank you for the lovely messages.

Biscuitsandtea · 15/02/2012 19:47

Understand you still being worried Munx - it's natural. But as you say it's another hurdle cleared (and an important one too) so just keep ticking those days off one by one. :)

scarletfingernail · 15/02/2012 20:06

A heartbeat seen at 8 weeks is a massive milestone Munx. I'm sure you already know that. The first trimester is so hard to get through when you've had a previous loss/losses, but we're brooking for you and your LO. It will get easier once you've had your 12 week scan, which will be here before you know it Smile

On another note, I have today discovered 0% alcohol Cobra! How did I not know before now that this existed? Of course it's not the same without the alcoholic kick, but the flavour is not a bad substitute and is having something of a placebo effect Grin

Biscuitsandtea · 15/02/2012 20:14

Ooh, I like the sound of that Scarlet. Bet you need it at the moment with those builders too! Although my cold has made me not want to eat anything at all at the moment. Not even..... Chocolate...... Shock

I hope this cold just buggers off soon - it just doesn't feel right to not want chocolate Confused

NinjaChipmunk · 15/02/2012 20:26

Yay for munx so lovely to hear from you and very happy to hear you've seen the heartbeat.
I a currently working my way through a galaxy bar, which was presented to me by ds when he came in from nursery Grin I've developed a real sweet tooth recently.

jaggythistle · 15/02/2012 20:31

lovely news munx, brooking lots for you. :)

the cobra is ok but i have since discovered Bavaria 0%. the wheat beer is particularly refreshing. :)

DreamingOfPeace · 15/02/2012 21:32

Hooray munx!!! Totally marvellous news.

I feel crap too biscuits, and remarkably sorry for myself. Thank goodness I'm not watching OBEM- that would be the straw that broke the camels back though I am recording it, just in case

pommedechocolat · 15/02/2012 21:46

Yay munch great news!

Dream - its twins on obem I think you'd like it but maybe when you're feeling better :)

pommedechocolat · 15/02/2012 22:07

Munch?! Munx!

scarletfingernail · 15/02/2012 22:23

dream the twin birth on OBEM tonight was incredible! It really was fantastic to see. Twin 1 (boy) came out head down and the right way round and twin 2 (girl) came out feet first! 4lb 12ish each at 37 weeks.

jaggy I shall look out for Bavaria next time I'm shopping. Thanks for the recommendation.

I hope all the poorly preggos are feeling better soon.

fishcakefoxtrot · 15/02/2012 22:50

Hello, hope everyone is going ok. Congratulations munx- a heartbeat at 8 weeks is fab! And hooray for popcorn ticking off the weeks. Do you have a booking in date?

I had a growth scan and appointment with the consultant this morning. Somewhat embarrassingly, despite peeing all the bloody time, I wasn't able to provide a urine sample! Performance anxiety? Grin

Baby is measuring on the 10 centile and about 3 pounds which I think is fab! So fingers crossed the next scan in a fortnight shows growth along the curve. My first blood pressure reading was a little high but the second one was fine- am to start having these weekly now.

I also had the first round of steriods, just as a precaution should things go wonky and the baby have delivered quickly. I have to go back for the second tomorrow morning. So two lovely jags in the bum! It at least gives me a second shot at producing a urine sample Smile. Although the consultant is really quite jolly he DEFINITELY errs on the side of caution. Nothing seems to suggest the baby will need to be delivered in the next couple of weeks- I think he just likes to be prepared!

We also talked about delivery and my section has been booked for 38wks 2 days. Am 31wks 2days today so definitely feel on a clock now. Dr gloomy did not seem hopeful that I would make it to this point though! I however am feeling confident that I will keep this baby in for a good while yet. It's funny- the midwives I have seen have really down played my previous problems, I presume in an attempt to reassure me and normalise things, which has just made me more anxious. But Dr gloomy has made me feel far more positive! Mostly because I feel confident that I am being kept a good eye on.

Anyway, sorry for so much me-me-me, but there is only so much I can talk to people in real life about this before they glaze over. Even people who already have children don't seem to really understand the ongoing, niggling worry that is always there when you have had previous problems. So thank you!

fishcakefoxtrot · 15/02/2012 22:55

For those who have watched OBEM ( I am watching on catch up having read the thread after last week!)- was Taio (sp?) a midwife or an ob? I was really surprised to see how relaxed the twin delivery was!

pommedechocolat · 15/02/2012 23:04

fishcake - that's great news! 7 weeks to go (and no brooking on that!). I understand where you're coming from with dr gloomy - a doctor being honest and practical makes you feel like its been taken a lot more seriously doesn't it? I also worry with midwives because they have never heard of my condition and during my last birth I was telling them about procedures to follow!

Biscuitsandtea · 16/02/2012 05:54

That's fabulous news fishcake Grin. Well done you! Brooking that that baby carries on growing beautifully for you. And good luck with your wee sample production / steroids this morning.

I can't believe it - we found a mouse last night - eeeek! We've never had mice before and are both, frankly, a bit freaked out about it. DH just happened to see it run across the dining room as we were watching tv. After much 'Fawlty Towers' style effort we managed to get it to go out of the patio doors. Although of course since it probably has another way in, that won't be a whole heap of use. No doubt it hopped out of the door and straight back in whichever way it came the first time laughing merrily!

We found a cupboard where we think it had been (fortunately no open food or anything as it was the cupboard under the sink) so presumably it's coming in via some hole or another where the waste water goes out?

Anyway, we found one of those sonic plug in things that we had from our old house and plugged that in in the cupboard, but when we got up this morning there was still a mouse poo in the cupboard again Sad.

I think I'm going to go straight for getting some professionals in as I really don't want to be faffing around with trying to deal with mouse poison and traps etc with a new baby and DS.

Could really do without something else going wrong though. Since Christmas we've had both cars go wrong (as documented!), the boiler has broken, we needed a new kitchen tap, DH has lost his watch, our garden fence fell down so we had to have that replaced, and now we've all been ill this week.

It's all making me very nervous for our scan next week as we don't seem to be attracting good news just now ConfusedSad

Sorry, that was all very mememe.

Hope everyone else is well this morning and all various DC are in marvellous health Smile

Wants3 · 16/02/2012 07:52

Hi all, can we do a bit of our infamous no brooking for my sister and baby. She is taking him to GOSH this morning to have his skull examined. If they think the bones have fused he will have to have a fairly major operation! :(. She has seen various HCPs since his birth who all have said different things so hopefully the consultant today will have a definitive answer.
I thought the twin delivery on OBEM was amazing too, did she have any pain relief at all? I also thought the other girls reaction to the diamorphine was quite funny:)
My antenatal group at the hospital always discuss the previous weeks episode with the midwife. It is interesting to hear her take on things as she sees it from a completely different view point. She also thinks we are mad to watch it!

Biscuitsandtea · 16/02/2012 07:59

Mega brooking engaged for your sis and baby wants - hope it all goes well xx

pommedechocolat · 16/02/2012 09:07

Brooking lots for your sister and baby wants. xx

PopcornMouse · 16/02/2012 09:23

Ooo scarlet I've not seen the Cobra what's it like? I've been drinking Becks Blue :)
And Bavaria jaggy - can these both be purchased from Tesco/Sainsbo's and the like?

I book in on 14th March fishcakes I am unreasonably excited :o She said she'll then sort me out with a obstetric's appointment (and one would assume a scan, as I'll be 10 weeks by the 14th).
Gosh not long to go at all! Do you have everything ready? :)

You need a cat biscuits ! But really, don't worry ? if anything, you're getting all your bad luck out of the way before the baby comes :)

Brooking for your sister wants let us know how it goes :(

Biscuitsandtea · 16/02/2012 09:32

All very exciting about the booking in etc Popcorn Grin

It might be worth just checking with the mw / hospital that the mw will book the scan then - I've seen various different ways of doing it all on here, and you wouldn't want to get to 10 weeks and her decide you should have arranged it yourself Confused.

I think it is most likely that the mw would do it, but better to be sure?

PopcornMouse · 16/02/2012 09:36

Oh that's interesting..... she's posting me some stuff but if it's not in there, I'll phone the doctor's surgery and speak to the evil receptionists
