Hi Whiffy,
Can I ask what makes you think you're 8 weeks? I'm in the same boat, thought I was 8 weeks but scan says 6. Which I accepted, as the Dr was sure it was 6 weeks. But how accurate are the dating scans I wonder?

FirstNikki · 01/03/2006 10:13

congrats on your scan Rianna you must be so happy.

whiffy and mumtolaura am sure your babies will catch up I have read some ladies be behind all the way through. You watch your next scans the dates will more than likely sort themselves out. Smile

Last note on my situation, it ended naturally last night so no need for erpc today.

majormoo · 01/03/2006 14:01

Nikki glad you did not need the ERPC. Take care of yourself.

I think I have caught DD's bug -was up all night and early this morning running to the loo. Lovely.

Saw mw yesterday and dating scan is booked for 22nd March, so three long weeks til that. Then, if that is OK, the stress of going back to Kings for the nuchal. I get so scared just thinking about it-god knows how I will get through it if we get that far

twinkle183 · 01/03/2006 16:04

Hi guys, haven't been on lately cos of work and other things... time just seems to fly by....

I am so sorry to hear the news... I am sure that everything will be okay and that you'll have some good news soon... Try and keep positive. My thoughts are with you both.

My bleeding has definately stopped which is brillant news and had an appointment with mw today she said that everything was alright!!! She just booked me a scan so am waiting for the date to come through the post..probably be waiting ages. Am I the only one waiting for a scan? Is any one else finding that the system has now slowed down..???

I am glad to hear that your scans were positive results, you must be relieved.

Just thought I would check in, take care everyone!!

wuzzlefraggle · 01/03/2006 16:28

wuzzlefraggle · 01/03/2006 16:30

majormoo · 01/03/2006 19:10

no problem wuzzle. My pregnancy brain means I can hardly stay awake. Someone at work this afternoon asked if I was OK as I was just staring into space. I am rubbish without sleep but fingers crossed it is something I need to get used to!!

By the way is everyone still wearing underwired bras? I am sure last time I was told to stop wearing them or doesn't it matter til much later on?

cece · 01/03/2006 19:14

i have always worn underwired bras till i'm about 38 weeks.

no probs with bf but i have read about this elewhere. just can't get them without wires in my size Blush

wuzzlefraggle · 01/03/2006 19:28

majormoo...thanks for being so understanding lol...oh and i also noticed that i was spelling your name wrong...i have corrected my brain-drained self Grin

nowanearlyNicemum · 01/03/2006 19:33

firstnikki, take good care of yourself - thinking of you

I remember last time being told to stop wearing underwired bras at 3 months. Can't really recall what the reasoning behind it was....

Rianna · 01/03/2006 19:59

Fiestnikki, my thoughts are with you.
I know what it means to ahve a pregnancy ended this early- no statistices can make you feel better.
You have had you hopes and dreams and all this comes to an end and your body will ahve to adjust as well.
Take care of yourself and good luck for the next time !

salsamama · 02/03/2006 09:33

Hi,I'm new to this thread. Congratulations to everyone expecting. Baby due on or around 24th oct. This is second pregnancy. DS is 7 months old. We live in London. DH and I are happy that no. 2 is on the way but wondering how on earth we're going to manage with such a small age gap. Am also worried about how my body is going to cope. Had pre-eclampsia last time and after the birth was hit by thyroid problems which still haven't really cleared up. Any one had similar health problems second time around or was it totally different?

paow · 02/03/2006 10:12

Hello all,
I hope everyone is feeling OK.
I am just constantly knackered out, falling asleep on my desk all the time.
I had my very first sickness on the train this morning, I felt awful, although only lasted for a few minutes. I'm so glad to get this tiredness and sickness as it didn't happen last time round when I had the MC, so I reckon things are going well.

Salsamama, I have the same due date as you :)
Hope it all goes well.

take care
Paola

sparkly1 · 02/03/2006 10:17

Salsamama, my due date is roughly the same as yours. I need a dating scan but am thinking 23/24 October. Can't help with the small age gap. My dd is 6! I can barely remember being pregnant the last time. I also have a thyroid problem that was hard to manage during my pregnancy. I was under the care of a great endocrinologist who was constantly on top of the problem. Maybe ask your gp or your consultant about being referred to one.

Anyone else having really sore boobs? My god, the pain is unbelievable. I dont recall this last time.

Agree with the being tired and sick thing. I haven't gone into work today and plan on doing very little. In fact, I'm going back to bed for a bit - lazy, I know.

Gemmitygem · 02/03/2006 10:33

Welcome Salsamamma,

Sparkly and Paow, am also v knackered (have to have a 1 hour nap every day after work), and boobs are v sore. But no sickness, just queasiness, so should count myself lucky.

BUT can really feel a bloated hard bit to stomach, think it will start to show soon! (I'm first timer and skinny, so gives pythonated impression). Are you showing already? Have to hide it from work for at least one more month as waiting for new contract..

totallyfloaty35 · 02/03/2006 12:51

Salsamama,I had pre-eclampsia in my first pg,didnt get it in my second and according to the medics it doesnt happen during 2nd pgs so hopefuly you will be fine.
I must be huge as a lady thought i was as far along as she was 23wksShockbut feel constantly queasy so keep eating to keep it at bay

paow · 02/03/2006 15:36

Gemmi and totallyf I am also bloated most of the time except in the morning, but by the end of the day I have a huge stomach, I imagine most of it is water. I can't fit onto some of my work trousers already!

I'm not saying anything at work yet either, so I hope they think I'm a bit of a pig having snacks all day! (mostly fruit though)

whiffy · 02/03/2006 15:56

sorry to backtrack on thread, but only just read mumtolaura's post on how I know for sure I'm 8 weeks when scan says 6....well now for me tis very simple... DH has been keen on second baby but I was in two minds so made him wear condoms all the time, while I 'thought about it'. Worked a treat until I went to corporate wine tasting dinner & quiz. Now I'm not saying I overindulged but put it this way, I drank enough to come third in the quiz...anyway got home and DH was quick to spot and take advantage of my inebriated state and hey presto! one romp later and the deed was done Grin I worked out the next day that we'd taken a risk on '12th night' so had an inkling we wouldn't get away with it. Haven't let DH near me since partly in penance, partly cos my boobs are on point of exploding!! Not that DH minds - he's content to just swagger round the bedroom, 'John Wayne' style, waving his willy round and boasting about his 'lethal weapon'.

There was a reason I married him but I'm buggered if I can remember what it was.

So anyway, long story short, there's no doubting my dates, regardless of what the scan said Grin

How many others on the thread weren't planning it? I've seen a couple of you make comments, but am sure there are more of us... and are any of you panicking like I am about not doing the folic acid thing from day one? (this currently ranks at number 22 on list of things to panic about)...

I checked the scales today and have put on 4.5 KG already. OMG.

majormoo · 02/03/2006 16:22

whiffy your John Wayne comments really made me chuckle. We planned this pregnancy with military precision so certainly not an accident for us!

welcome salsamama.

caught my boss looking at my belly just now-am sure she has noticed as these trousers are really tight. We told inlaws at the weekend, and MIL wasn't surprised as she said she'd noticed I had a bit of a tummy on me!!

whiffy · 02/03/2006 16:35

Military precision sounds scary, majormoo - I'm sure such attributes make you huge asset to your boss - pg or no pg. so have swell time (so to speak) flashing it all out by the photocopier.

talking of which I don't think we make things easy for ourselves...there I was chatting away by coffee machine when I realised I was 'holding' myself like v.pg.woman - ie tummy thrust forward, hands fluttering over my belly. Can't think why people are suspecting. I mean it's not as if my hormones have already caused me to yell at just about everyone in the office or anything.... Grin

sorry, salsamamam, paow, forgot to welcome you on board. Looking forward to enjoying the ride over next 7 months or so....

twinkle183 · 02/03/2006 17:51

Welcome to salsamamam and paow, hope you both have a happy and healthy pregnancies.

Not much to report expect that boobs seem to be soooo painful... I am overjoyed when I get home from work and manage to talk my bra off!!!! Is anyone else in the same room?

cece · 02/03/2006 17:58

whiffy

lol at dh doing the John Wayne.

Me too not planned. Proof indeed that the withdrawal method not too reliable!

pinkdolly · 02/03/2006 19:09

THREAD CRASH

Twinkle, You and your boobs!

I remember mine were so itchy I couldn't stand wearing a bra(not a pretty site). Took me ages to find one that didn't irritate my boobs. Good job 2 coz after breastfeeding 2 babies already I do need bit of support in that area.

Hope your boobs feel better soon, dont let dh or ds beat you up so much! :)

Tigerlion · 02/03/2006 20:41

Great to see so many new people on here since I last visited a week or so ago. Welcome to you all.

So sorry FN and EH to hear of your news. You are showing such incredible strength in dealing with the situation and the best of luck for the future.

SalsaMama, I have a 6 months old DS so have a small gap like you do. Many people have reassured me, both on and off MN that although it seems a struggle at first it is very gratifying as the children will play so much together and grow up as – hopefully – great friends! I had pre eclampsia first time round and it is meant to happen much less in second pregnancies, so fingers crossed.

I have been having so much morning sickness recently. Despite drinking gallons of ginger tea, does anyone have any other good tips to mnake it seem less dreadful?

Also, what is everyone doing about exercise? I was just trying to get back in shape and a week after starting at the gym, I found out that I was pregnant. Obviously should not do all those ab crunches etc but is there anything that we can do without causing a risk to the babies?

Hope everyone is feeling well and good luck for all those scans.
