Oh yeah, and Gem-gem and Missmi (sorry, it's late!) I so know what you mean re (tmi) discharge and swollen vagina etc. Your pee loses any sense of direction at all - just when you need to aim it into cups all the time.....

Gemmitygem · 28/02/2006 05:14

Grin at pee comment!

Morning everyone,

MumtoLaura, I hope we're not putting you off even more with this charming discussion of swollen bits!

Just spoke to nice doctor and will go for a scan on Saturday; I think the ultrasound was donated by UNICEF or something so hope it's all right! (have visions of creaking Victorian machinery powered by an orderly on a bike). Well it's either that or the only posh clinic here (200 quid access fee just to be seen in the first place Shock and then they said 'you can't see the British doctor because it's 'only' gynaecology' Had to laugh! My scan in the state clinic will cost about 10 pounds, but you kind of donate more if the doctor is good.

On a neg note, just discovered I won't get my new work contract till 1st April, just hope I don't balloon too much till then or won't get it at all!

3kids · 28/02/2006 06:53

FN, will be thinking about you today.

I'm off to the doc's this morning for what purpose I don't know. I guess I sit there and say "I'm pregnant" and she does the rest! Hoping to get in for a scan soon to ease my nerves if nothing else.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Missmibaby · 28/02/2006 08:54

FN thinking of you this morning.

Sparkly1 - hope it goes ok at the drs and you get your early scan - I know what you mean about setting your nerves at rest. I've got a scan on Friday and I'm just counting the seconds!!

Riley3, Gem and anyone else who was brave enough to comment I'll stop the talk about swollen bits - you've set my mind at rest and made me Grin.

Now to add to everything else I think I've done my back in - feeling very old and creaky this morning.

sparkly1 · 28/02/2006 09:59

Well I've been and it was very anticlimactic. Blood pressure, weight and some discussion of past pregnancies and that was it. Sending details off to the hospital and midwife appointment in a month. I suppose I'll just go with this. I need to relax a bit as my blood pressure was high. Great. I have never had any blood pressure problems in the past so think it was just the stress of going to the doctor's in the first place.

majormoo · 28/02/2006 12:47

well all the talk about swollen bits made me smile (but yes I know what you mean!)

good luck with the scans and hope all goes well for you FN.

my clothes are definitely getting tight, which is not good as I really want to hide it for a while longer. Started to feel really sick the last couple of days, but think I have may have caught the bug DD has had rather than it being anything else.

midwife this afternoon-think it will be like your appointment sparkly. I'll be really glad to get the scan dates booked in though.

hana · 28/02/2006 13:17

hi everyone,
has been ages since I've posted and there seem to be so many people here now! 8 weeks now and feeling awful, I really look forward to the afternoons when I can lie down with my baby and my 4 year old occupies herself!! I'm sick most days , yuck yuck. I have my first scan appointment thru, going to Kings College Hospital in London - but it seems ages away, not until end of March. Still waiting for booking in appt with midwife though
How's everyone else feeling?

so sorry to hear y our news firstnikki and beanymum. lots of luck

FirstNikki · 28/02/2006 13:37

Afternoon ladies...

well you have made me smile with the swollen bits talk etc Smile keep it up making each other laugh it will help keeping those blood pressures down with lots of laughter.x

Wiffy hope you are are better today?

I am having mc and have erpc tomo at hospital. positive side fibroid reduced so shouldn't cause problems and I have dr's name for recurrent mc's which will be passed to my gp for referal. Don't worry I will be fine I was expecting it tbh with my history etc. I will hopefully be annoucing goods news sometime in the future.

I will be keeping an eye out for scan reports and in Oct the Birth Announcements - best of luck to you all xxx

sparkly1 · 28/02/2006 13:41

FN, I'm really sorry to hear this. I will be thinking of you and your family. Although not comforting now, it's good that you've getting referred to the recurrent m/c consultant.

majormoo · 28/02/2006 13:54

Sorry to hear that Nikki. As Sparkly said, at least it is good that you are getting referred.
We will be thinking of you

riley3 · 28/02/2006 14:29

FN - your attitude is fantastic and hopefully the fact that you can "start" a pgcy will work in your favour.

Gemmitygem · 28/02/2006 14:41

I agree with riley, major and sparkly, Nikki, you have such a heartwarming approach; though you're going through such a difficult time, you still encourage others, and all we can do is wish you the very very best and in the knowledge you will be given the additional help from a specialist.. Stay with us and keep us updated!

Bronze · 28/02/2006 14:46

I've introduce myself of the stats thread but it looks like I'm here to join you

evenhope · 28/02/2006 14:53

Went up to A&E about the bleeding on Sunday morning and they kept me in! They were worried about it being ectopic because of the pain and wouldn't let me go home. Had a scan- definitely not ectopic but not too hopeful. They could see something was there but not what- too small. Should be 7 weeks but scan said 5-6. I can't possibly be 5 weeks or the test wouldn't have come out positive on 8 Feb so it looks like it's another missed m/c. I've got to go back next Monday for another scan. I'm assuming they will keep me in for another ERPC if that scan shows no growth this week.

DH is very upset and says it must be our age and we should give up. I don't know how many times I can put us through this when we already have our children, but you will all recognise that feeling of having a taste of something and not wanting to let it go. We don't have the luxury of time to think about it (I'm 42 and he is 44). The children were very upset to find that mum was back in hospital again and not reassured by our vague explanations of stomach problems, but I don't want everyone to know if it's never going to happen IYSWIM. I had to tell work because if it's like last time I'm going to be back in hospital inside the week and it's easier to tell them the truth than have to worry about what I've already said.

I'll keep you posted. Good luck to everyone, and FN sorry to hear you are going through it too.

cece · 28/02/2006 14:56

evenhope so sorry

a ray of hope though as something very similar happened to my friend who now has a lively 2 year old. hope this is the case for you too. it took them about 3-4 weeks of scans to decide that db was growing...

Trophywife · 28/02/2006 15:32

FN, really sorry to hear your sad news. make sure you put your feet up and take it really easy, hopefully it will happen for you soon. take care TW

FirstNikki · 28/02/2006 15:34

evenhope my thoughts are with you xxx hope you get some growth this week. thinking of you and your family. Understand the time element my dh is 37 and doesn't want to wait much longer for baby he has daughter but I am trying for my first, but job problems for me mean he will have to wait now. Its early to make a decision on the future just yet, so hold in there evenhope, get some rest and fingers crossed for you x

FirstNikki · 28/02/2006 15:41

p.s. ladies thanks for your thoughts and now put some of your positive thoughts to your pg's I know there has been a few sad notices recently and unfortunately mother nature has to take its course its very sad indeed but out of our control.

In a few weeks time you will be having or had your scans and be well on the way with less risk.

wuzzlefraggle · 28/02/2006 15:49

FN, im so sorry to hear about what you've gone though lately...i wish you all the very best for the future and i would just like to tell you how fantastically you are dealing with everything xox

EH, i have everything crossed for you that the next scan shows some growth...it cant be easy for you with so much worry and stress and i really do wish for you that everything ok xox

my thoughts are with you both

booge · 28/02/2006 15:50

FirstNikki and Evenhope I'm so sorry to hear your news.

I had another bleeding scare at the weekend but my bean seems to be hanging on in there so fingers crossed. This scan mad me due 5 days earlier on 1st October. Sickness seems to be not so bad now but my back is completely knackered and I'm wiped out all the time. DS has a sickness and diarrhea bug and needs lots of attention and changes of clothes. Roll on the 2nd trimester.

Rianna · 28/02/2006 17:12

Coorect me if I'm wrong : there's still hope for Nikki and evenhope.

I went for my scan today, everyone in the hospital was really nice to me, and I have had good news: embryo is the right size (just 2 days younger) and there's a heartbeat.

cece · 28/02/2006 17:44

fab news

whiffy · 28/02/2006 19:38

Great news Rianna - can't wait for us all to get through the next few weeks so we can relax a bit - you are so right about that, FN.

My heart goes out to you Evanhope but keep hanging in there - my scan yesterday said 6wks 2 days when I KNOW it has to be 8 weeks, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you will turn out OK. I think we sometimes place too much reliance on science when our bodies can often just sort things out in their own way. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

sparkly1 · 01/03/2006 07:10

Just tried to put the trousers on for one of my work suits. Not a hope. I heard that you got bigger sooner the 2nd time but this soon? God, what size will I be by Easter let alone October??
