Afternoon ladies,
I have copied this update from the pg after mc thread as piffle has had some bleeding and is worried. (Piffle hope you don't mind me doing this) x

"Quick update on piffle.
She went but it's neither good news or bad news. They've basically said if the bleeding continues then it's probably a blighted ovum or early mc. If it stops, starts and stops etc, then she's to pop back next week for a scan.
She's gone for a well deserved rest."

majormoo · 16/02/2006 16:28

Thanks for letting us know Nikki. Piffle take it easy. Really hope everything works out OK.

Glad your bleeding has stopped Twinkle.

twinkle183 · 16/02/2006 16:54

Thanks. Take it easy piffle!

Gemmitygem · 17/02/2006 03:12

Hi everyone!

Twinkle: very glad for you! I did ANOTHER test last night, positive straight away. Thank God they only cost a pound here (for the expensive Indian made tests, the Russian made cost about 50 p). Know what you mean about thirst: I'm emptying the water cooler on a regular basis!

Totallyfloaty, interesting about john and lizzie's. I actually sent away for the brochure, which makes it sound like having a baby is like going on a spa break . I'm considering having it in Belgium where my in laws live. As long as I can get the epidural and a nice midwife, don't really mind...

Going to tell the parents tonight, all being well! (6 w today)

wuzzlefraggle · 17/02/2006 09:26

Totallyfloaty & Majormoo - I had a home birth in 2003 for DS2. I had also planned one for DS1 (way back in 1992) but ended up induced, forceps etc. This time it all went exactly as it should -he was just as late but I held out, got mw to do what they call a "cervical sweep" (they just do it when they visit you at home) and away we went. So DS2 was a water birth at home. This time I think we will all need more rest so I am planning to give birth at the local small mw-led unit which comes very highly recommended. You still have a chance to give birth in water there but if there are any emergencies which require anaesthetics etc you get taken by ambulance to the hospital (which is a good 30 minutes away). I think my advice to anyone who is worried about hospitals etc. would be to be as "awkward" as possible. In both my previous pg's I announced I was going for a home birth right from the off. I think they tend to pay more attention to you because of the perceived risks involved. I would ask for your nearest mw-led unit if you do not want to go for a home birth. I highly recommend homebirth but all I would say is our little darling screamed nonstop for 1 day after the birth (so much for water relaxing them!) and as it was just me and DH it was a little scary and tiring. However if you have mums etc around, the mw does visit at least once a day after the birth for as long as you feel you need it and it is an absolutely wonderful experience which I wouldn't have missed for the world.

Sorry to go on but it is something which can make a huge difference so I thought it was worth going through! If anyone has any other questions about it, let me know!

nowanearlyNicemum · 17/02/2006 11:54

wuzzlefraggle,
they don't seem to be bothered about the folic acid over here - I didn't get it for my first pregnancy either - am just religiously eating Marmite once a day (not too much of a hardship )

wuzzlefraggle · 17/02/2006 12:02

thanks nowandnearly, been playing on my mind a little

i keep doing pregnancy tests...please tell me that im not the only one obsessing about this [confused emoticon]
oh and another question ladies...i have a belly buton bar...should i take that out???
sorry for bombarding you all with questions

twinkle183 · 17/02/2006 19:40

Hi ya ladies...

Hope everyones well!?!

Hi wuzzlefraggle, I am so completely obsessed with pregnancy tests its not even funny, I think I've done about 8 of something stupid like that? I think this is because I am still in disbelief I guess.

I also have a belly bar and have had it since I was 17. During my first pregnancy I had it in til I was 8 months gone, then took it out for the last month and then managed to put it straight back in after I got back from the hospital. I put it back in while I was in the bath, just easier I guess.

nowanearlyNicemum · 17/02/2006 19:48

I'm not squeamish in the slightest but you're actually making me wince with talk of belly button bars ....

wuzzlefraggle · 18/02/2006 10:01

hi twinkle, its a relief to know that im not the only one doing tests all the time lol.
ive got to take a pee sample to the gp on monday so i can get my official positive (iykwim) so i think that im maybe worrying that they will tell me im not pg, thats why im always doing tests....
sorry about making you squirm nowandnearly
i hope that every1 is feeling ok today and that you all have a great weekend

I've just found out that my friend and neighbour is pregnant too - there is probably less than a week between us. I'm really thrilled, cause all my friends who were having kids when DD was born were in other countries, NZ or UK.. what a neat coincidence. We'd just been giving each other a pep talk a couple of weeks earlier about making a real effort to get pregnant!

Sorry to read that many of you are feeling sick - I am feeling fabulous. In fact, it's something that made me wonder if I was pregnant, cause I was feeling unnaturally fantastic. I've earned this though, cause I had constant nausea with DD. I've read that with 2nd pregnancies the symptoms can be less severe.

FirstNikki · 18/02/2006 10:29

Morning ladies sorry haven't been on had worries as had bleeding an pain, bleeding seems to have stopped at the moment but still have pain having scan on tuesday morning to check things out so will update then.

Hope everyon is feeling bettter today?

Apteryx thats lovely your friend and neighbour are pg too you will have great support from each other as well of here.

Belly bars I have one too, you can also get maternity ones which are longer and plastic so I might consider getting one of those.

booge · 18/02/2006 19:20

I'm in the same boat FirstNikki, have a scan on Monday. It seems a long time to wait, Tuesday must seem an age to you. Fingers crossed we're both ok.

FirstNikki · 18/02/2006 19:49

oh booge best of luck for Monday hun I know how worrying it is. I thought my bleed had stopped but its come back more now roll on tuesday. We both have to just rest with feet up until then. best of luck and let me know how you get on on Monday. {{{hugs}}} xx

BatLady · 18/02/2006 20:59

Happy Saturday night to you all! HERE WE GO AGAIN WAHHOOOOO!! Pregnant with baby bat no. 2, due October 3rd so bat no.1 will be just over 18 months...ahh, can't wait to see his little face, hope he doesn't mind that his new friend doesn't seem to want to go home...

Anyway very long way to go yet, but am very very excited, especially as I don't feel sick yet....(last time felt sick until 18 weeks, so maybe
I'll get a break this time...)

Mumsnet was great last time and am really pleased to be back - anyone any idea when 2nd pregnancies start to get a bump? Can't remember from the first one.

xxx Batlady

twinkle183 · 18/02/2006 21:02

Good luck with all your scans... am feeling really great too at the mo'. I sometimes also wonder whether I am pregnant.

Am looking forward to seeing mw on wednesday just for a check up. Remember, earlier I said that I had to fight for a mw appointment, came home from shopping and there was a message on my answer phone for an appointment for the 2nd march. Its funny when you can't get one two come along at the same time! Its annoying!!!!

twinkle183 · 18/02/2006 21:03

Congrats BatLady on your bfp! I wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy.

nowanearlyNicemum · 19/02/2006 09:32

hi girls,
hope everyone is feeling fine this morning - at least the Sunday morning hangovers won't be bothering us for a while
fingers crossed that everyone's scans go well this week. I have one tomorrow too - nothing untoward, I just have a VERY irregular cycle so they're doing a scan to work out due date.
can't wait to see the little bean on the screen!!
congratulations batlady - I'm pregnant with number 2 too. As for the bump, I got mine quite early on with dd and they say it shows earlier for subsequent pregnancies - I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
am quite impressed I managed to get pregnant at the same time of year as last time - at least I will be able to recycle all my maternity stuff
enjoy the rest of the weekend - and those of you who are supposed to be putting your feet up... do as you are told!!!

FirstNikki - am thinking of you - hope everything is ok. Let us know what happens on Tues.

Missmibaby · 19/02/2006 13:33

Can I join you? I've done zillions of tests and they're all BFP - itmakes me due end of Oct. Am going to docs tomorrow to get them to confirm (Wuzzlwfraggle I'm addicted to tests). Feel very nervous about this though (had 2 mc with previous pgs - already have DS 2.10). Is there anyone else who doesn't feel pg symtpons? Not convinced this is happening for me.

wuzzlefraggle · 19/02/2006 15:07

missmibaby - welcome i certainly know what you mean about the tests ive gotta take my wee sample to the doctors on monday, so by tuesday i should get the nod from them, whcih will probably make is seem a bit more real. as far as symptoms go though...the only things that seem different are that i get tired a lot and dizzy...

hope every1's doing well xoxoxox
