Congrats wuzzlefraggle on you bfp.!

Hi Piffle thanks for you advice have just off the phone with the drs surgery and managed to get an appointment with mw a week today but it did take alot of convincing though. I don't remember it taking this long to get an appointment with my first!

I don't have any pains, just bleeding and a few clots in the morning. Have been to the dr about it but you know what they are like?

FirstNikki · 15/02/2006 16:15

glad you managed to get apt twinkle although you had to fight for it. best of luck x

wuzzlefraggle · 15/02/2006 17:17

just a quick post to say thank you to every one for the lovely welcome!
i couldnt quite believe it (i still cant) its all feeling quite surreal (sp?)
i hope that you all have healthy and happy pregnancies xoxoxoxoxox

beanymum · 15/02/2006 22:11

Not feeling too bad re sickness etc., but brain seems to have turned to mashed potato already - reversed into somebody whilst parking on mon ( although 1 yr. old dd had been screaming solidly and loudly all the way home).

It worries me that I don't feel too bad - keep thinking I should redo test before telling parents.

Does anyone else NOT feel bad?

jamiesam · 15/02/2006 23:33

Wow - 3kids - you found out you were pg before my last period started

Sorry - hello everybody, can I join you. Got my bfp this afternoon. Due 28 October according to my calculations - likely to be earlier rather than later as I'll be having a c/s.

I have two ds's - age 4.5 and 2.7. Had early m/c in December so will be nervous about this one until week 12/13.

Gemmitygem · 16/02/2006 03:25

congrats and welcome to wuzzle, beanymum and jamiesam!

Beanymum, am 5.6 today and also not feeling bad, wish I was throwing up , well at least I'd feel it was definitely in there! Main symptom is crying at anything and sore boobs, plus more tired.

I read somewhere that the average day for morning sickness to arrive is 39 days after LMP but don't know if that's true...

Piffle: good luck with nice consultant!

Twinkle I've got my fingers crossed for you and hope mw's goes well. Also had bleeding at 4 weeks but now just hoping for the best, haven't had any tests yet but am only 6 w tomorrow so want to give it a while. I don't think they have early scans in Kazakhstan anyway...

wuzzlefraggle · 16/02/2006 07:55

just a quick post before i go to bristol for the day (im going to se My Fair Lady on stage lol)

hope that all you ladies are feeling ok today

I tried to phone the doctors yesterday to make and appointment, but as sods law would predict...its closed. Quick question...should i be taking folic acid, eventhough i havnt spoken to the doctor yet?

Piffle - good luck with the consultant
Twinkle - i hope that everything goes well with the m/w
Jamiesam - i had my bfps (eventhough they were faint) yesterday too!

take care ladies!! (oh god, sorry for the essay lol) xoxoxoxoxox

trace2 · 16/02/2006 08:20

wuzzle. yes you shouls, up to 12 weeks, (you should have been taking while trying, you bad girl)

FirstNikki · 16/02/2006 09:07

wuzzle trace2 is right you should be taking folic acid ideally whilst trying and then upto 12 weeks. Don't worry too much though just start taking it straight away. Let me know how the show was I would like to see that.

Piffle hope all goes well today I will wait to here.

welcome beanymum and Jamiesam

With regards to being ill beanymum last pg I was heaving and retching all the time with v v sore boobs etc from more or less day 1. this time there's the odd retch and I have been sick yesterday first thing and today first thing. boobs are sensitive and slowly getting bigger and sore (I am 7.6) each pg is different. your signs will come and if you have only just had bfp they might turn up in the next few weeks.

Hope everyone is ok despite the ms and tiredness.

Gemmitygem · 16/02/2006 09:12

Well, I threw up this morning at work after drinking 2 cups of green tea, so maybe the MS is kicking in..

Was so glad to be sick (totally mad I know!)

Hi Nikki, how are you feeling?

anyone else 6 w tomorrow?

FirstNikki · 16/02/2006 09:30

Hi Gem glad you were sick in the nicest way of course I am particularly well considering having the odd twinges and aches. coming up to my milestone over the next 10 days so having fingers crossed and bit nervous about it.

Gemmitygem · 16/02/2006 09:35

Well Nikki you know we'll all be rooting for you over the next few days, but sure it'll be fine!

We're going to Dubai on Sunday for a few days (it's 4 hour flight which is quite close to here compared to anywhere else!!) so hoping to get some sun. However am a bit paranoid after flying to Moscow and then having the bleed. At least it'll be nice and hot in Dubai though!!

FirstNikki · 16/02/2006 09:41

oh wow dubai how wonderful...just take it easy and drink plenty of water and get your bags carried for you. When you get there enjoy it - ooh how lush...I am

Is it work or holiday

Gemmitygem · 16/02/2006 09:47

hols, just for 3 nights cos I had some hols left over till the end of my contract at end of Feb,(will start new contract).

Will be good to get away, cos it's 8-9 hours to get back to Europe so you have to think of closer places. Delhi's also only 4 hours but thought Dubai prob safer for pregnant women, e.g. food poisoning..

no worries about bag carrying with DH in his 'protective father to be' mode! Yesterday got told off for carrying a 5 litre container of water from the shop across the road to our house not to mention the lecture after going to step aerobics, and he keeps buying sardines because of some article he read

FirstNikki · 16/02/2006 10:27

ah bless him its nice you have such support I am now dreaming of dubai and colleague has been a few times and I hear its devine

nowanearlyNicemum · 16/02/2006 11:01

morning all,
hope you're all feeling well (or not TOO rough ) this morning.
huge congratulations to the latest joiners - hope all will be plain sailing from here
fingers crossed that all goes well for you at the consultant's Piffle. let us know how you get on.
can't stay for long - dd howling with toothache, poor mite

majormoo · 16/02/2006 11:42

Hello Everyone and welcome all the people who have just joined.

Piffle hope your consultant appointment goes well. I cannot believe how rude and insenstive that receptionist was to you.

Twinke hope midwife appointment went OK.

Gemmitygem-have a great time in Dubai. I went there a few years ago, as my sister lived there for a while, and had a lovely time.

NowanEarlyNiceMum-we're not going to Paris til first weekend in June-I will have to get some tips from you on where we should go.

I am not feeling too bad now. Like others, I sort of want to feel sick. I am still SHATTERED though. Was on an exhibition stand all day yesterday and nackered after being on my feet all day and also on my best polite behaviour for potential customers. So glad I only do a three day week.

Tomorrow going back to Essex, as my sister's wedding dress has arrived, so she is going for a fitting. Plus DD needs to be measured for a bridesmaid dress. Will be interesting getting her to keep still for long enough!

Am planning not to tell my parents when I see them over the weekend,as I don't want them to get excited. However, I am not hugely worried about keeping it a big secret from everyone. When it all went horribly wrong last time, I told pretty much everyone I know, as I felt I needed to talk about it, so in a way there isn't much point in my trying really hard to hide it.

Have a good day all.

totallyfloaty35 · 16/02/2006 12:58

Hi all,am feeling really sick today, boobs gone up 2 cup sizesall bras now cutting into me,makes it look like i got 4 breasts!!!!!
Gem,have a lovely break in Dubai,am feeling really need some heat
Majormoo,is the sussex hospital a nice one to have a baby in?only been living here few yrs,had last babes in london, one in worst hospital ever and 2nd one privately

majormoo · 16/02/2006 13:26

well totallyfloaty, I have mixed feelings about giving birth at the Royal Sussex. I was induced with DD as overdue and the antenatal ward care was rubbish. The woman in the bed opposite me, who had also been induced, was saying she was in labour and asking for pain relief. She was ignored and ended up giving birth in the antenatal ward with just a curtain separating her and the other 3 women in the ward. When I said I was in pain, they said 'have a walk and a paracetamol'. I remember saying just before the midwife finished shift, that the pain was worse and she told me they would check me in a couple of hours, give me sleeping pills and probably break my waters in the morning. Needless to say, the new midwife had been on shift 5 mins, before I started pushing DD out, and all hell broke loose to get us to the labour ward in time.

However, for the 30 minutes I was giving birth on the labour ward, the midwives there were lovely. I don't have any complaints about the post natal care either. I had to be kept in a few days afterwards as was so badly bruised after the speedy deliver, and they were a great help with breastfeeding.

Bet you are glad you asked!

FirstNikki · 16/02/2006 14:01

wow totallyfloaty 2 cup sizes already! impressive oh my dh will be impressed if I did that...he has finally told me he loves big boobs..which I felt peeved cos I am not that big normally so best get saving for a boob job for me after the birth

totallyfloaty35 · 16/02/2006 14:10

Thanks for info Majormoo,dr said i can choose sussex hospital or worthing.
I had 1st baby at WHITTINGTON in london, was horrific,16 women on the ward, blood all over floors and walls, inmates from holloway prison chained to there beds.midwife was awful, told me to shutup as she couldnt hear tv,wouldnt listen when i said something was wrong, even though my stomache was rigid and had stopped contracting and i was bleeding like crazy, only when she went off shift did they discover i was having a placental abruption and me and baby were at deaths door.Sorry to go on,but whole going into hospital bit terrifies me.

FirstNikki · 16/02/2006 14:52

Sorry totallyfloaty for your awful experience at that hospital I hope you are in better hands from now on.

majormoo · 16/02/2006 15:10

totallyfloaty that is horrendous. No wonder you went private the second time.

I don't know about the Worthing Hospital. What was nice about the Royal Sussex by the way, was that as all the post-natal, labour and antenatal wards are high up, you can look out to sea from your hospital bed!!

There is a midwife lead unit in Crowborough as well by the way, if you were able to/wanted to consider that option. Again, no idea what it is like.

twinkle183 · 16/02/2006 15:52

welcome to beanymum and Jamiesam, congrats!

Good news I have now stopped bleeding . I am so glad. Did another test to check and the blue line is definately there.... thanks for all the well wishes.

I am glad that I am not the only one with boobs that seemed to have swelled to the size of water melons. My husband seems to love it! No sickness as yet, just overwhelming tiredness and lots of headaches. Seem to be drinking lots of water.

I am glad hear everyone else is okay! I wonder where piffle is?

totallyfloaty35 · 16/02/2006 15:54

Thanks guys, yeah husband watched me have panic attack when they tried to send me back to same hospital for 2nd dd,so he forked out for St john&st elizabeth birth unit. Was lovely, but so expensive.
But anyway mustnt count my chickens before they hatched or before 12 wk scan at least.
Any ladies on here had a home birth?
