1,000 posts into the very popular September 2012 thread, here's a new one, for knicker checking, boob prodding, toilet rushing, oh and eating the entire contents of the fridge or McDonalds

Here's to our tiny beans and all the lovely ladies lost along the way.

Full steam ahead to booking in and positive scans aplenty.

Madmonkeys I generally feel fine and DD is older so well able to understand if I feel poorly, so we're doing okay, out of routine because of half term and my work is just ridiculously busy at the moment so hard to fit things in. I felt much worse last time and felt guilty that I spent all summer inside with MS when it was our last time together before she started school, then to no avail as I lost my DS, so I'm glad I feel better this time as I already put her through months of it, hardly fair to do it again so soon. There's nothing wrong with a bit of Peppa Pig though. I'm grateful DD is old enough to let me have lie-ins and go and play/read in her room for hours. I wouldn't cope with small children patience-wise, I'm very snappy at the minute!

I'd do pretty much anything to avoid having a buggy as I find them incredible PITA so a double would be my worst nightmare. If you do get a sling though get one suitable for either child so you can swap them about if necessary.

hotcupoftea happy to hear that you had a good look at the scan, annoying about the NT scan though! Based on my dates and based on the private scan, I would be 11w on the day of the NHS scan! So it's borderline for the NT scan I believe? I'd be pretty annoyed if I have to pay for a private NT scan, especially as I've been telling my GP and my midwife that I ovulate a week late and they take no notice!

It's my first time using a baby on board badge that DH got for me, and a gentleman did give up their seat for me on the train just now! (not immediately though as people were all reading newspaper / playing with smart phones... I had to stand for 2 stops)

tights were really getting very tight around the tummy area, so I bought some maternity tights - they are so much more comfy! highly recommended!

Loopyhasanotherbean · 14/02/2012 19:41

re buggies, we always hoped to have children close in age, so we bought (well DP's parents paid for it but we chose it!) a baby jogger city select. Not cheap but the same sort of price as quite a few other brands out there, but it is fantastic quality, really easy to use, decent space underneath for shopping etc and it fits easily into my focus boot and i'm only 5'1-2 and i can cope with lifting it etc. Was initially looking at the I Candy peach but then this was launched and it is much better, the carrycots are a better size, DS would have outgrown the Icandy and the only person i know who got decent use out of hers has a DD that was 10th centile!! and unlike the I Candy one our carrycot will fit any of the connection points (the i candy you have to buy an upper or a lower). It can take god knows how many combinations of 2 carseats, 2 carrycots, 2 buggy seats, or any two of the above, and they can be rear facing, forward facing, or facing each other. So whenever we go out, i shall use that, with DS in a buggy seat, and DC2 in either a car seat or a carrycot depending on how long we are out for....and if DS ends up being as lazy as his cousin, then i can see me getting to the stage where DC2 is in a buggy seat and DS is also in a buggy seat! My sister still uses a buggy with him, he is 2 yrs 3 months but he doesn't walk for long before he gets tired or bored or distracted, and her life is a lot easier just putting him in a buggy as it speeds up everything they do! (and she has other children to think about so speed is important!!)

Dorita75 · 14/02/2012 20:24

Hi all,

I'm still checking in now and again to see how everyone's doing. Floydie I'm so sorry, big hug for you.

Hotcupofcoffee that's rubbish, no one mentioned that when I had my booking appointment, I'd deffo go and have a word....

All okay with me (thanks Loup23 and everyone), everything getting sorted and I'm dying to get going again to get that 2012 baby!!

Love to you all xx

quitcomplaining · 14/02/2012 20:47

Loopy - I wish I had thought further ahead and brought a pram that could have been converted into a double first time around!

I think we will buy a buggy board to attach to our existing pram as it was £££ so we are keen to get more use out of it. Then should we find dd still needs a buggy we will have to explore doubles after baby is here. I found a buggy board that also allows the toddler to sit down today so I feel a bit more confident that we can do without a double.

Dont worry madmonkeys I feel the same. Peppa pig seems to be on 24.7 here! I have been suffering with hyperemesis so sometimes struggle to leave the house for days on end. Today we managed some long overdue shoe shopping and a trip to the park. Its mad cos I felt guilty for feeling pleased with my day as it shouldnt be such an achievement to manage to take her to the park!

I dont really have much to report about bump. Or lack of at this stage. I'm 9+2 and sitting patiently for 12 week scan

MadMonkeys · 14/02/2012 20:56

quitcomplaining - it's kind of reassuring to know I'm not the only one, although you sound much worse with the sickness than me, poor you. Does hyperemesis tend to stop at the end of the first trimester? Mine's just common or garden morning (all day) sickness, just curious. Which buggy board are you lookig at? haven't seen one that allows the toddler to sit down, that would be handy. I'm 9+1 and I'm definately showing a bit of a bump. Hoping people just put it down to too many chips.

Loup23 · 14/02/2012 23:06

Hi Doritha keep popping in and let us know how project 2012 baby goes, wishing you lots of luck.

Scan went well, NT measurement 1.4mm, whatever that means..... the bean was bouncing around which was great! Still measuring for EDD of 1 September but similarly to others hospital were adamant I was 12 weeks and not 11+3 due to late ovulation, measurments showed 11+3 so hopefully the EDD will stay as 1 Sept.

Hotcupof tea annoying about the one scan only policy when it's their mistake, I hope you get a NT scan sorted one way or the other.

Macaroons where did you get the maternity tights? I'm finding it hard to wear work trousers and tend to wear a loose(ish) dress which at the moment very much requires tights - desperately need some maternity ones as normal ones feel like they're chopping me in half....

NIght all xx

ballroomblitz · 14/02/2012 23:08

Oh Floydie what horrible news after the result of the hcg levels. Hope you're ok.

Got my scan date through for the 29th Feb today. Will be 10+6 at that stage so a tiny bit earlier than I was expecting. Consultant meeting on the same day which I'm dreading. I didn't like my consultant last time so I'm hoping it's a different one. The nickname 'Dr Death' we gave him really explains a lot about his personality.

For whoever was asking about paracetemol it's ok to take. I was told I could even take co-codemol by my gp as I had bad whiplash when I first got my bfp. Ibuprofen is the no-no.

Macaroons · 14/02/2012 23:27

dorita good to see you pop by. Take care and best wishes to you

loup I bought some from h&m and some from asos. Have only tried the h&m one and it does give a lot more breathing space. Will try the asos one tmr and report back! While I was at it also bought pair of jeans and two dresses from asos. Pre pregnancy jeans and clothes that used to fit really are getting tighter, though the maternity jeans look big. (better loose than too tight though!)

quitcomplaining · 14/02/2012 23:48

Madmonkeys - noone seems to want to give me a straight answer as to when it will stop. However from googling it seems some women suffer the whole way through. I am blocking that thought from my mind! I seem to go through a few awful days then one not so bad day. I def feel slighty better than I did when it initially hit at 6 weeks. Although it may be from being used to feeling like crap now! No hospital admissions for a while anyway so things are on the up I hope.

I can't do links on phone but google litaf seat 2 go. It has mixed reviews. But then so does every product I guess. Hopefully I won't have to use it too heavily as dd can already walk at a fair pace for maybe half a mile. Hopefully 7 months down the line that will have increased. Will have to get her in training nowGrin

Who will be finding out the sex? We didn't last time but are going to this time but keep it between ourselves. It was being able to keep people guessing to the end so we are going to pretend we didn't find out again. I'm very surprised at the amount of people that assume we want a boy now just because we already have a girl. I would of course love a son but I would be equally over the moon with a daughter as I think it would be nice for dd to have a sister close in age and obviously there is the practicalities of having 2 same sex children. Hand me downs and sharing of toys and interests (hopefullyWink)

Macaroons · 15/02/2012 06:17

Woke up before 6 again this morning Sad grrrrrrrrr!

I'll want to know the sex Wink it's still s surprise, just that we are finding out the answer at 20w rather than 40w! (think this will make buying clothes / nursery decorating easier!)

Macaroons · 15/02/2012 08:52

Called the hospital for urine test result, and I have UTI Sad will need to see GP later to get prescription for antibiotics. Hope it won't impact the little bean!

quitcomplaining · 15/02/2012 09:02

Macaroons - UTIs are really common during pregnancy. I managed 3 last time BlushMaking an effort to try and drink more water this time as I'm normally rubbish. Some days I would get to 8pm and I think oh crap all I have drunk is coffee!

lurkingmurking · 15/02/2012 09:07

loup great news about your scan!

macaroons sorry about the UTI - I'm sure scan will be fine

We're not bothering with a double buggy - DS will be 2yr10m and we already hardly use the buggy so no point. A good friend is lending me a buggy board which fits the quinny and the maclaren and he will also scoot. I'm planning on having baby in the sling when I have the two of them and then baby in the quinny when DS is in nursery.

sasslejaney84 · 15/02/2012 10:53

I intend to find out the sex, my DD wants a baby brother aand my DSC are all very different, they'll have the chance then to get used to the idea as it were! Plus if I'm having a girl, I'll get a lot more stuff given (most people I know have had a baby girl in the last 6 months) and if I have a boy, it'll mean having to buy clothes etc as I don't know anyone who has had a boy!!

According to my OH my 'bump' is definatly there!! He is loving it, says it makes it more real for him!!

Still pulling muscles in my stomach Sad wish it would stop now!! Starting to get very painful!

Still waiting to hear when my consultant appt will be, no word yet from them... Just 13 days til my scan!! :o

EastBeast · 15/02/2012 11:05

Hello and congrats to those with happy scan results. Big hug to floydie, thinking of you.

I've just managed to survive 3 days with my little sister staying and successfully hid the bump from her. Pretty hard given she was kipping on the sofa bed in the living room which prevented me from doing my 3am insomniac run for milk! But I just want to wait until the 12 week scan which is on the 24th Feb before telling all of my family together - it finally seems to be getting closer!

Thanks for all of the advice on baby kit, I have no idea what I'm doing! We need to move house first so I can't really plan beyond that at the mo but I'm saving your ideas up. I also just googled lochia, I never heard of that. There seems to be a lot of keeping people in the dark about pregnancy and birth!

ballroomblitz · 15/02/2012 11:31

Another one who is finding out the sex here. Already have ds and although it would be nice to have one of each I like having boys. Dp would obviously prefer a dd to be a daddy's girl. We will be happy either way but the curiousity is killing me this time to find out what it is and not wait until the birth like I did last time.

sassle would you get your consultant meeting at the same time as your scan? I know I'm getting mine then.

Oh yes, the lochia. The afterpains of your uterus contracting after are sore as f**k too (usually when you're feeding the wee one). Or the way your boobs leak when ANY newborn cries around you. Oh the glamour surrounding having babies Grin

Is anyone finding theoir sex drive taking a nose-dive? I just can't be bothered even cuddling atm and I can't blame sickness or anything cos I don't have any. Dp is feeling sorry for himself as a result.

pamplem0usse · 15/02/2012 11:37

Can't remember who asked about double buggies.... my DD will be almost exactly two when this one arrives and I'm hoping to avoid as my Silver cross pram was bloody expensive! Will wait and see much nearer the time I think.... but she's a good little walker (/runner!) already.......

rightontime · 15/02/2012 11:54

Quitcomplaining. A friend of mine is pregnat with her 7th baby and already has 6 boys. You can imagine how frustrated she is with the 'you must want a girl' comments!

We dont fine out the sex, it annoys everyone who is desperate to know, like my mum

Is anyone else feeling there stomach is really heavy. When Im in bed it is like a pressure low down in my belly. Hard to describe really but definitely feels like something is there IYSWIM.

MissCoffeeNWine · 15/02/2012 12:05

I'll be finding out the sex if I get that far, because quite frankly finding out the sex at post-mortem is shit, and I don't want that to happen again. I'm pretty certain I know what it is though, I just hope it grows big enough for us to find out for sure. I don't want to know for clothes reasons though - it'll wear all of DD's clothes, nappies and play with all of DD's toys whatever it is, babies are babies and children don't care about gender, well DD certainly doesn't. Interests aren't generally divided according to sex, I wouldn't have thought. And it won't have a nursery, it would be in our room and then will share with DD later on. I have great memories of sharing bedrooms as a child, even though we didn't have to, I hope the same for my own children, if I manage to have another.

DD wouldn't have managed without a rest/somewhere to sleep at age 2 and I wouldn't have managed without somewhere to put her so she couldn't get up to mischief! She needed a sling until well past 3, but she did have a daytime nap until she was nearly 4, so I needed something to put her in for that!

Macaroons · 15/02/2012 12:23

quitcomplaining 3 times! didn't realise it's so common. Hope the antibiotic will get rid of it.

Hotcupofteaplease · 15/02/2012 13:01

Dorita great to see (?!) you, glad you're feeling okay... do keep popping in to tell us how you're getting on! I have my FX for your 2012 baby x

Loup23 great scan news Smile

Well, I wrote an e-mail of complaint to the hospital yesterday; a very nice lady called me and booked me in for an NT scan in 3 weeks time. It's in a different hospital, as that's all they had availability wise, but at least I can have one.

I will also be finding out the sex (I want to prepare DS as much as possible); we found out with DS, although the sonographer told us he was a girl. We went and bought lots of pretty dresses etc and then at 38 weeks I gave birth to what was clearly not a girl!
This time, I'm going for a 4D scan... just to be sure Grin

Loup23 · 15/02/2012 13:36

Yay for complaint letter hotcupoftea! Glad you got your appointment.

We will not be finding out. DH would desperately love a DS (I do not mind either way) and I think if we wait until it pops out we'll both be so overwhelmed etc it won't matter either way, if we find out at 20 weeks I will spend 20 weeks worrying about DH. Also, I love the surprise when friends have had babies and you wait to hear if it's a boy or a girl!

Each to their own though, my Mum would love for me to find out and I have to say I will find it very hard not to......

Thali34 · 15/02/2012 14:03

We won't be finding out, for same reason as Loup, and I like the idea of a surprise, but it's tempting to know we could find out in terms of preparations... But it is DC1, and we will be thrilled either way!

ballroom I also have my scan on 29th, although I will be 12+6!! Hope you get a new and nicer consultant this time!!

Loopyhasanotherbean · 15/02/2012 14:23

when i had DS, i confess i wanted a girl, mainly i suppose because i've got 3 nieces and was used to girls. However we found out at 20 week scan he was a boy, and i'm glad, as there was a bit of disappointment, and the following weeks gave me time to adjust to the fact i would be having a son. I wouldn't swop him and i wouldn't be without him, but i'm not the only one who has had those feelings and i think it can be good to find out earlier. This time, i'd still like a girl, and my gut is telling me this one is a girl as the pregnancy is completely different to my last one, but there is another side of me that thinks if i had another boy, then DS would have a ready made friend! What will be will be. I guess any girls we have will be lucky to have an older brother or brothers to look out for them. But with DS, we didn't tell a soul what we were having until he was born, so there was still the exciting news to share!
