I just watched OBEM to enlighten myself. I cried!!!!! :)
Cannot miss another episode now!
Thanks Shelduck, I saw an excellent physio who I was going to see privately at nearby clinic, so I was very lucky! Got my support belt first and back next week she helped get my wobbly pelvis back into place hurray.

Those births were just amazing. I was 23 hours with DS1 before I had to finally emcs. DH and I were shattered but words will never explain what it was like to be handed DS1 :) Happy days folks -- hope we are all well

ceeej · 17/02/2012 10:27

Morning all, its Friday yay.

tea hope you've recovered from the shock of your fall

Warlin your cold sounds terrible, please try to spend some time in bed recovering, I hope everyone else with colds gets better soon too

Kveta also loving the stories of your DS, its a little taster of what we have to look forward to! The 'things you thought you would never have to say' thread was pretty enlightening too.

I can't watch OBEM (or any TV for that matter) at the mo because the snow seems to have broken our satellite dish but we've both been too busy to sort out fixing it. As soon as I've handed in I'll have a big catch up on the on demand services of that and call the midwife.

Also, one of my good friends may have named our baby for us! I'd told her that DH was struggling with reading the name books and didn't seem that keen on any of my suggestions and she said well I think you should call her Charlotte which I rather like. Told DH and got something verging on a positive response then this morning he suggested we try calling the bump Charlotte to see how it fits. We're going to keep looking through potential options too but it's great to have found at least one name that he likes.

CathFin · 17/02/2012 11:46

tea - the fall sounds like a bit of a shock, hope everything is okay.

I havn't seen any of this series of OBEM - but it does always make me cry!

ceeej - I like the name Charlotte but its not one my DH would go for. If its a girl I'd quite like use my name and/or my grandmother's name as middle names but I think having Catherine and Elizabeth is just too long!

Have a good weekend everyone!

HorseyGirl1 · 17/02/2012 11:49

Walk the Dog - hope you have a lovely few days - remember reading about your husband going way and feeling sad for you - glad he is home and he must be so excited about seeing you both xx

Kayzr · 17/02/2012 12:22

TDW I hope you are having a lovely time with your DH. Enjoy the 2 weeks you have with him at home.

Tea I hope you are ok.

We are still the house of coughs here. DS2 is really bad and we've been up since 4am because he can't stop coughing at all.

I should have been getting married today!! In about 35 minutes to be precise. I am actually quite glad we had to postpone it as I still don't feel right.

Hope everyone is ok.

ffnorm · 17/02/2012 14:26

Kazyr I too am at home with poorly DS,up in the night and not eating at all Sad Must feel weird about it being your wedding day even though you know you made the right choice to postpone...

Tea how are you feeling after the fall?

Ceej Charlotte is lovely Smile It's a relief to find at least one name you agree on!! I am really stuck for a girls name.

ffnorm · 17/02/2012 14:36

who had the 22lb baby dream??? Just logged into yahoo, there's an article about Britian's largest baby girl who has recently been born at 12lb 12 (vaginal birth no stiches) but in the article it says the largest baby ever recorded was 22lbs in south america in 1955...

Warlin · 17/02/2012 14:38

Hi All

Well kveta I took your orders and stayed at home tod gay. Apart from walking the dog I've been in all day and am going to go for a snooze now. Fingers crossed I start feeling better. Dr was useless as couldn't give me anything but did listen to LO heartbeat which was nice.

Shelduck and kayzr hope you both feel better soon too.

TDW hope you're having a lovely, romantic time with DH....you'll prob not be on here for a few days at least :)

Anyway hi to veryone else.

Oh and our house fell through so back to the drawing board....so disappointed :( have another viewer tmw morning so more cleaning for me tonight...

SpecialJK · 17/02/2012 15:17

ffnorm I had the 22lb baby dream! Don't tell me it's really possible. Now I'm freaked out Shock I did see the 13lber story, that's my worst nightmare really. With the amount of cake and cupcakes I'm eating I won't be surprised though.

TDW I hope you enjoy DH's R&R for the next 2 weeks, over the hump now. I remember that feeling when DH came to the front door. Have fun and hope he loves the surprise!

this baby is a wriggler and a half. pretty much all day yesterday. biggest problem is that he keeps punching or kicking me in what feels like the 'unmentionables' I'd give anything for a side punch at the moment.....

warlin sorry to hear about the house falling through, so difficult to build a chain at the moment. I'm considering putting the house up for sale, but don't know whether to wait now until the baby's born

Hi to all, and hope there's lots of good weekends planned

TeaandHobnobs · 17/02/2012 16:11

Warlin sorry about the house Sad that is very disappointing

TDW Hope you have a great time having DH home and we won't expect to hear from you for a while Smile

Sorry for those who are still feeling rough, there seems to be so much going around at the moment, and I guess we are much more susceptible!

Thanks for everyone who has asked after me - after battling through yesterday afternoon with only one functioning hand, I decided maybe I ought to speak to the MW, who of course sent me off to the hospital to be checked out, as a precaution. So I spent yesterday evening in the birth centre! The MW there said they were having quiet night, so at least I was only in for a couple of hours. It was nice to see the place first hand. I was quite relaxed about the whole thing (although of course relieved to hear bump's heartbeat and get the all clear from the doc), but I think it was an emotionally traumatic evening for my DH and my mum Confused Blush.

DH now insists that I "start acting like I am pregnant" and keep my eyes on where I am walking at all times! Definitely going to take more care now, and hopefully once my current project ends (fingers crossed today, and I should stop typing on here and finish it!!) I can start to lighten my workload a bit.

Hope you are all looking forward to nice weekends - meeting a couple of friends tomorrow afternoon, but other than that, nothing!!! Grin

ffnorm · 17/02/2012 18:50

Sorry special my brain is fried!!! I reckon that as it was 1955 and all the other biggest babies haven't been bigger than 15lbs that it must have been a faulty scaleGrin

Sorry about the house Warlin Sad

Have a lovely weekend everyone - I''m working Sat and Sun,so will catch up with you all on Monday Smile

TeaandHobnobs · 17/02/2012 19:12

On the subject of large babies (and bearing in mind these were both a long time ago!), my mum recently told me that she weighed 13lb at birth (was born a month late) in 1950, and my Granddad weighed 15lb Shock in 1914! Frick!
I was a small 6lber, and DH and his brothers were all tiny as they were all induced as MIL had pre-eclampsia with all 3.
Here's hoping for a happy medium Smile

ChateauMargot · 17/02/2012 19:40

Feeling a bit soft and woozy for the first time today since the first trimester - anyone else been in the same boat? No doubt it's partly down to being knackered (work, moving house stress, etc.) and slightly sore from yesterday's yoga class... but I'm also suddenly not very interested in food and just want to curl up and sleep. Still feeling baby's movements, though, and no obviously worrying signs... just feeling run down and sorry for myself.

Have others experienced this sudden shift from glowy smugness about the plain sailing that is the second trimester to total fatigue? Also have a slight, bloaty tightness around the stomach - not pains or cramps, just that feeling you get when you've eaten too much bread or pasta..?

ChateauMargot · 17/02/2012 20:47

Warlin, sorry about the house news. We're still renting, and dealing with slimy London landlords/estate agents is bad enough...

bemybebe · 18/02/2012 13:03

Hi guys, I am having a lazy saturday here and catching up with all the messages. Smile
I am wondering if most of you have already penciled in the classes. Will anyone go for hypnobirthing? I have nothing from my hospital yet (not only no classes scheduled but also no indication of what/when is on offer), I really do not want to do NCT this time (my birth will be consultant-led, so NCT being "natural" will not be as relevant, plus had mixed filling last time with the local leader and also feel it is just too expensive for us given what we already know), but I am really mulling over whether to go for hypnobirthing to try and make it as "calm" in hostile hospital environment as possible. Wink Any thoughts?

bemybebe · 18/02/2012 13:06

Chateau I am 22 wks and just started having afternoon naps again. Thank god i do not work and can allow as much rest as needed for the lo, but even then i am frustrated with my lack of energy!

10000fireflies · 18/02/2012 15:16

Charlotte?s a lovely name ceeej. How?s it suiting the bump?
Hope family Kayzr is feeling better. Guess it was kind of a blessing you postponed the wedding. How are all the other poorly preggos? FFnorm, Warlin, Shelduck etc, hope you?re feeling a bit better.
Tea glad to hear you went and got checked out and all ok. Now, how are you doing with following DHs orders and ?acting pregnant?? Does that involve much lolling on sofa and being waited on hand and foot??!! Grin It ought to.
Chateau not surprised you feel knackered hearing what you?re up to at the moment. Take it easy if you can. Have you got your appetite back? Not really had that bloaty feeling though. Would Activia yogs help?
I have defo found tiredness creeping back in but have dealt with it by having a Shock small instant coffee early afternoon to keep myself going. Helps avoid sleepless nights so long as I don?t overdo it

bemybebe I am about to start ante-natal yoga classes. I think I will do the hypnobirthing with the CD someone mentioned a while back. Am sure based on similar chat earlier on this week on the thread that HB will really help ? ie the calmer you feel the better. Will do NCT classes, but is mainly for social reasons. I know what my ideal birth would be, but I?m going to be open minded when it comes to it.
Trying to get myself in to the habit of getting some exercise daily and remembering to do those pelvic floor exercises!! Not managed to do so yet. Still, just back from the gym with DH. He sweats it out on the running machine while I have a lovely, refreshing swim.
Enjoying chillling on the sofa at the mo watching shite TV (Death Becomes Her). Is peeing down out there. . Going to make some carrot and coriander soup in a bit. Hope you?re all having a good Saturday. FF xx

ChateauMargot · 18/02/2012 18:29

Thanks for the reassurance - think I probably just need to take a day out from PhD, work and moving worries.

bemy I'm doing hypno classes next month and just started preggy yoga. A bit dismayed by how breathless I've been recently, so trying to walk enough to keep reasonably fit for the birth!

ecstatica · 18/02/2012 20:14

Hi girls,
Hope you're all having good weekends. Wondering what happened to Green Goose, would like to know she's doing.
I tend to nap in the afternoons too, it can't be helped and must need it! Smile
Has anyone reached week 24 yet?
Using MN app for 1st time, sorry if there's typos!
All my DC have chicken pox now so Its a busy household DS2 and I were racing for the bathroom to be sick earlier what joy! Please tell spring to hurry!!
I saw movement last night when in bed-little ripples as it were -- baby that is Grin

Kveta · 18/02/2012 20:21

i'm 24 + 4 today :) had a lot of cake today for our birthdays, as had some friends round this afternoon with the promise of cake! DS went a bit mad on m+ms, so was galloping round the house like a loon for an hour. and now the neighbours seems to be having a rave or something, so DH and I are contemplating an early night as the lounge is not habitable, grr.

hope you're all ok soon ecstatica we're on the chicken pox wait just now - 8 out of 20 kids in DS's room at nursery went down with it last week :/

MammaInTheMaking · 19/02/2012 04:52

I'm 24+3 now Smile

Oh god, just had to come on here because i've just been quite violently sick Sad Not had any sickness in the pregnancy so I think this must be some bad food yesterday or the dreaded Norovirus. I did go out for dinner and drinks last night so could easily be either SadSad Baby's kicking me right now so although I'm alone in a sense, I'm getting feel better kicks from LO. That or it's saying "what the hell is happening, I was asleep and then everything went really nasty in here!" poor baby!

MammaInTheMaking · 19/02/2012 05:01

bemy a friend has totally raved about the hypnobirthing course she went on last week. So if you're interested I'd say go for it. Another friend is lending me a CD which is something to do with it so I'll give it a listen. I'm really enjoying my NCT Relax Stretch & Breathe classes. It's the only NCT thing I'm doing. Rather than being generic yoga, it's all positions and breathing techniques which should really help in the lead up to active labour. Opening up the pelvis, helping the baby to descend, learning how to relax and breathe through contractions. It's not discouraging epidurals or anything like that at all. It's even good relaxation during a cs. Anyhow, I'd really recommend it Smile

CathFin · 19/02/2012 06:50

Special - mine has presumably turned and is hitting me in the fanny too - very weird! Had forgotten about that feeling, its very odd.

Tea - glad you got checked out, its good to be reassured and also get a peek at the hospital too.

Chateau - I have been up in the night a bit with my two so by mid afternoon I definitely need to close my eyes. If I have a busy day then the next day tends to be a write off too!

ecstatica - hopefully if they all have cp at the same time it will get it out of the way - better than them having it back to back for weeks on end! Hope the sickness has passed.

I'm just doing my preg yoga this time around - its very focussed on breathing and movements to encourage the baby to descend. Nice to hang out with some pregnant ladies in real life!

CathFin · 19/02/2012 06:51

Mamma - boo to being sick, I never had a bout of d&v until I fell pregnant and had kids, now it seems to happen rather too regularly for my liking!

10000fireflies · 19/02/2012 08:24

Oh, ecstatica you poor thing with a house of children-with-chicken-pox. Hope you?re all well soon. Must have been lovely to see those ripples. Still waiting for some significant movement from mine. Concluding that it?s going to be a lazy little so-and-so? Obviously takes after its father!!

Kveta hope you survived the rave!!! Oh dear, so you?re expecting CP in your household soon too. Sad

Mamma how are you feeling now? I?ve had two episodes like that. Really hurts puking when you?re preggers. Glad you?ve felt some reassuring kicks since. That course sounds good. I?m going to see if it?s running near here.

Morning Cathfin - another early riser/poster!!

Been awake since early-o?clock myself. Planes coming in right overhead this morning, neighbours baby crying, cat wanting feeding, so up now. Beautiful day here. Lots of sunshine even if chilly. Going for another swim soon (though secretly tempted to creep back to bed now DH is up too!!)
