Midwife called me back.....I have to go to the mainland for my scan now (Glasgow) as she couldn't get me an appointment for anywhere else.
Scan is 2 weeks today.....I shall be 13 weeks according to dates. I am a little excited but rather scared of being away in a strange place for 3 nights. I just rang hubby telling him not to make me go on my own When did I turn in to such a wuss!!

Oh no :( So sorry to hear your news Hetty and Cotton. I hope everything goes as well as can be expected for you both. I hope to hear good news for both of you very soon. We will miss you on here :(

I have just come back from my 12 week scan. All was fine - its amazing how much the baby has changed in the last 2 weeks. Its profile looks very much like my dp! Looking back at dd's 12 week scan its amazing how much it actually looks like her now. Incredible that these tiny little babies already have their facial features pretty much developed. My due date has been moved back again to 23rd September. But as my last 2 were 14 and 16 days late respectively I'm sure I'll be having an October baby!

ThunderboltKid OMG that sounds so cool!!! I REALLY want one!!! Do you think they're worth the money? Do you mind me asking how much it was?

I'm only 7+4 and yesterday I felt absolutely awful, definitely my worse day but told myself it was a good thing to feel so crap as it means everything is progressing well. Today, however, I do feel much more human and much less sicky - which is great as I can get on with some work for a change but then I start to worry that things are not good bun-in-the-oven wise. Am I just an overthinking worry wort?! Do I just need to chill and attempt to wait patiently for the ultrasound which feels like it's FOREVER away?!!!

I'm such a nevous first-timer, I really need to get a grip. Sorry for the rambling, I shall go and slap myself!

Thank you - I shall bear in mind my timeframe but it'll give me something closer to look forward to in the long old wait for the first, precious scan! You've honestly put a on my face!

You've inspired me too Thunderboltkid! I've just put an bid in as although it's only 2 weeks tomorrow until my scan, I'm getting very impatient!

That's interesting thunder - I've been noticing my tummy's been getting quite hard down there, I guess that must be the uterus filling out??? I might have just ordered one too

Not sure about the commission Thunderboltkid, will these do instead?!

I'd noticed that my stomach down there is quite firm too, not like the bit above it which is increasingly podgy . I can't imagine how it must feel to hear the heartbeat

I was gonna order one, then got the guilts so just put it in my watch box

In other news. Just back from docs. I have a chest and sinus infection. I shall be rattling the amount of stuff he has prescribed. On the plus side I should hopefully pick up quite quickly once the antibiotics kick in.

I have that same foetal doppler. I bought it when I was about 14/15w last time and never had any problems finding the heartbeat. Tried it the other night without success though, so will try again in a week or two I suppose. I found it great for reassurance between scans/mw appts, until I started feeling the baby move. It's an amazing thing to hear :)

I've also noticed an area above my bikini line that's quite firm too and from the side it's like a very shallow speedbump

Then I've got the blubber above that which sticks out like a wobbly jelly

Totally buying a doppler. 12 week scan tomorrow, how come everyone else got to hear a heartbeat early?

Loopy I'm exactly the same re worrying - it's so helpful to see everyone else on here being so calm!

Hi ladies good news baby in correct place and hb there measuring about 7wks but they said not to worry as this can happen and keep my date until dating scan so I'm 8 wks today and this is a viable pregnancy hurrah down side put me on insulin today and they were too busy to book me in so got to go next week and get bloods ect done and book in arrange scans ect .... First hurdle over on to next thanks for all your support it was greatly needed as I'm not getting any here off hubby it's as he in denial that I am pregnant he won't even talk about it and still won't let me tell anyone I've been to all appointments by myself I know he thinks we too old and have r hands full with 3 boys as it is but I AM PREGNANT AND EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD SO BLOODY DEAL WITH IT !!!!!! Arhhhh soz rant over X x x

Great news about the scan tenner, sorry your DH is being a pain though. I'm sure he'll come around once he gets used to the idea. It's a real shame he didn't go to the scan, maybe he would've melted a bit once he saw the baby onscreen. Can you drag him to the next one?

And P.S. Rant away, that's what we're here for; support for the good and the bad :)

Would love to get a doppler as well actually, going to ask the midwife to see if she can pick up the heartbeat on Saturday (will be 10+6 by dates) but they don't usually check until 16 weeks here.

Tenner glad your scan went well and sorry to hear your DH is being a bit of a silly billy. My boyfriend was really against the idea of keeping this one at first, I already have 3 children with my ex and he has 2 with his ex so we'll have 6 between us, which scared him a bit. He's come around to the idea now though, he never spoke about it at first but gradually I can tell he's getting excited and I'll get the odd text or phone call during the day because he's thought of a name he likes or something like that. I'm sure with time your DH will get used to it and share your excitement xx

Loopla - had to laugh as you described my belly perfectly - a speed bump then above that the blubber!

Had parents night this evening (I'm the teacher) so absolutely shattered. One of the mums actually asked me if I was 'planning another'..? Although I think innocently as there were no pointed looks at my tum, as there have been from staff members...

Had my booking in appt with midwife today so got my notes, finally feeling real. My EDD is 28th atm but fully expecting it to be put back a little by the scan - next week, woohoO! Also was nice to find I'll be with same community MW as with DD and the student who was just beginning with her then is still there now, about to graduate!

Right, soooo tired and have an observation tomorrow morn so it's off to bed for me, g'night all.
