Definately not Thunder, about a gazillion times a day for me too Grin

Thanks Mouse I shall try to be a little less hormonal more patient Blush I just feel a little sad as I want to shout it from the roof tops and he hasn't told a single person. Not even his best mate!

Bubble I do hope your sister stops acting like such a cow shows a little more maturity soon and accepts that every one else is happy for you. it must be driving a real wedge between you.

Still no NT scan appointment through. Maybe its a sign??

The 2 eldest won't be home until almost 11 after youth club. I'm not sure I will actually survive long enough to see them through the door! I am so very glad its Friday!

LoopyLa · 09/03/2012 20:03

Evening all

Anyone else just a little fed up? Obviously I'm loving my little sprout already but feeling down today & pissed off with constantly feeling like I'm sick, got a hangover & only had 2 hours sleep EVERY SINGLE BLOODY DAY!

So pleased to have got that off my ridiculously expanding chest Grin (my norks were an E cup before, dread to think what size they'll be at the end! Shock)

I usually the type that doesn't cry at anything but was watching Pretty Woman last night for the gazillionth time and felt all teary!! Weirdo! Blush

Thunder I have to force myself to focus otherwise I'm looking at maternity clothes & childcare options for when I return back to work (I know it's early but it's a big decision and I like to know of all my options before maternity leave) ...what else are we all looking at baby-wise?

Sorry...I've rambled. I'm eating tortilla chips & drinking a non-alcoholic beer, it tastes ok actually Grin

What is everyone craving OR what food aversions do you have? I'm eating cheese (hard stuff obviously) like it's going out of fashion but not wanting any cakes, puddings or, most freakishly, chocolate Confused!!

MissPenteuth · 09/03/2012 20:19

Hi all, have been lurking but am popping in as I had a scan today. Was feeling very anxious about it and didn't sleep well last night but it all looked fine. I'm only 9+6 though (as I suspected; by LMP I'd be 11w but periods had been irregular since coming off the pill) so I need another scan in 3 weeks.

Loopy I've definitely been feeling irritable ever since getting my BFP, and unfortunately toddler DD (just reaching her "terrible twos") bears the brunt of it sometimes. A friend (who doesn't know I'm pg) even commented today that she'd noticed I'd been getting frustrated with DD lately Blush I guess it's a combination of hormones plus sickness and tiredness. That's my excuse anyway.

I've not noticed any specific cravings or aversions but I am drawn to savoury more than sweet food, particularly anything stodgy, fattening and full-flavoured. Pies, pizzas, curries, that sort of thing. Amazingly I haven't put any weight on yet. I know from previous experience that it will catch up with me though, especially now that my morning sickness is easing a bit.

I'll be keeping my fingers firmly crossed for HettyT and cotton for scans. Hope everyone else is doing well :)

Ooh, I got an EDD of 6th Oct today, so if nobody minds I'll amend my entry on the list:

I'm not eating much chocolate or puds either. I'm also struggling to eat main meals at all, well I manage every other day to eat a full meal but thats it. Wouldn't be so bad but i've already lost 8lbs! DH is a little concerned by my eating habits and shocked by less choc in diet.

MissRedIndie · 09/03/2012 20:51

Hi ladies!

Feel like I've not had time to write in ages, was off work with a virus on Wednesday and the rest of the week has just flown by. Didn't get round to telling you all yet that due to sheer impatience I decided to book myself a private scan today to see if everything was all right - I'm another one with no symptoms of note. Got to see a tiny little baby and a heart beat!! Can't tell you how relieved I was! I didn't worry anywhere near this much with my first! They confirmed my dates pretty much, I'm 7+4 at the moment.

Got my booking in appointment in 2 weeks and won't get a 12 week scan date till after that appointment, so I would've had a lot more impatient waiting for a scan.

Funny thing is we've still not told many people, which originally was due to not wanting to deal with family disappointment if it all went wrong, but now it kind of seems like a delicious secret to keep to ourselves a bit longer. My sister keeps talking about how we should both get preggers soon so we can have our dd2s be the same age as each other (our dd1s are 10 months apart), and I feel a bit guilty not having told her yet, but know that she will be excessively excited when I do tell her. I feel for you bubble with your sister not sharing your excitement, it's a time when you want people to be happy for you. Hope she comes around.

Also have to agree that this pregnancy isn't so obsessively on my mind as with dd1. I think that's partly cos we're trying to find a new place to live at the moment (accepted offer on our house yesterday) and that is more than enough stress to occupy my mind, along with a crazy busy job and a 17 month old!! I have had to stop myself looking at maternity clothes already though, far too early for that!!

Hope you're all having relaxing evenings. DH is making my dinner at the mo, spoilt for once! If only I could have wine with it....Grin

Sorry for my accidental essay!!

Nice one on the scan redindie

Ah thunder so it's not just me then! I'm just as obsessive organised....

I'm planning to finish work at 36 weeks August 31, recently went to an NCT nearly new sale and bought a buggy board for DD for when she'll have to vacate the buggy and a bag of maternity clothes. I'm viewing a cheaper nursery for DD on Tuesday as I'd like to keep her in childcare a couple of days / mornings a week to give me some one-on-one time with LO. I've also got a preliminary meeting with a hypnobirthing coach pencilled in for after my 12 week scan and we've settled on a boy's name, still muddling through girls! Oh and I also need to work out when to turf DD out of her cot for November-ish time I suppose when baby will be needing it.....

thunder I guess it depends on where you are but I'd book NCT sooner rather than later as they get very over-subscribed here and yep, as crazy as it seems you may need to put LO's name on nursery waiting list which is sadly bonkers. Breastfeeding research is a good thing - I felt well-read but actually really wasn't prepared for the relentlessness and pain of it - this soon passed and it fortunately became the easiest thing in the world but for me, it took a good 6 weeks to feel comfortable and I was a bit cross no one told me it could be hard to get started (and of course it isn't for everyone).

I had a fictitious dentist's appointment for my booking in session with the midwife yesterday and am wondering what I can come up with for the 12 week scan - don't want to tell work just yet. How are others arranging the time off work?

pinpan · 09/03/2012 22:10

Gosh, Thunder, I'm not sure my thoughts have actually been organised enough to put into a list. More along the lines of, "pregnant, bump, (or just fat?), baby, pregnant, hmm maybe I should do some work, bump, baby, yikes, pregnant" and repeat ad infinitum. Then occasionally, hmm, wonder how easy it'll be to baby proof the house, and now and then, wonder how/when/how many days I should go back to work for. I really like my job and I definitely want to carry on with it - not full time, but whether I'll want to do 2, 3 or 4 days a week by the end of the first year, I just do not know. Hopefully I won't have to decide until next year!

MakeTea, I'm all flexitime, so I just slide out of the office and pretend I'm going for a walk, then hope no one notices me turning into the maternity hospital down the road... But my manager knows anyway (she's also a good friend) so then I slide back in afterwards and tell her all about it!

babybrain3 · 10/03/2012 06:23

I've been looking at everything, choosing Moses basket, cot, pushchair, etc.

Have told a couple of people at work, am really close to my boss and she's really excited and wants me to keep her up to date with developments...

Not started looking at nurserys yet, but think I will have to.

I think I might start my maternity leave at 36 weeks at the end of the school Hols as it will make things easier for childcare for dc. They usually go to a childminder after school, but I have to pay half fees in the holidays, so if they don't go back to her after summer I won't have to pay her...

I'm a bit undecided about nct-I really like the idea of meeting people, but think it is extortionately priced and DP will probably have a fit. I also feel thar it was such a long time ago that I had dc that I will need some reminders...also it's dps 1st so will be good for him to know what to expect etc....

So many decisions to make!!!

Guccigirl79 · 10/03/2012 07:31

Babybrain,i know just what u mean its enough to pickle what brain we have left with everything that needs to be thought about!! I too like the idea of meeting folk that r in similar situation however being a bit of a right arse I'm not in love with the idea of having to pay for the privilege of meeting people so will have to see!! Haha

Have only loosely looked at cots prams etc feels a bit soon to look before I've even seen MW for the first time!!

RunningOutOfIdeas · 10/03/2012 09:50

I did NCT last time. It was not much use for me. I don't keep in touch with anyone from it. My GP organised a post-natal group which has been far more useful. We all live very near each other, many of our DCs are at the same nursery and we have regular pub nights.

So before paying for NCT I think it is worth finding out what NHS antenatal groups there are for learning about birth and what post-natal groups there might be.

GizzyBoo · 10/03/2012 09:52

Good morning Grin

I am feeling quite perky this morning Shock I doubt it will last! lol
I love Saturdays!!

I too have been virtual shopping like mad. I was looking at birth pools this week!!! I know what pram I want, have been looking at cots. Oh and slings....I so want loads of slings haha
I have been checking out ebay for maternity clothes. I can't bare to spend loads of money on clothes so shall be looking for some bargains.

Anyone else prone to resting hands on/stroking non-existent baby bump?? Blush

Beeblebear · 10/03/2012 15:29

Gizzy, guilty guilty guilty here!

Been browsing kijiji for second hand mat clothes. One of the girls at work (who knows) said the shirt I was wearing on thursday, she could see a bump. Bless her! I wish! It's really just my constant eating I'm sure because it's above my waistband.

Have 2 strollers inn our garage that were given to us, but still madly looking at new ones in the catelogue

Zi'm really wanting to find some prenatal or parenting groups to join. I'm a a bit afrsid of going stir crazy at home next winter. It's an hour to get to the city as we live out in the country. In tje winter, the roads are quite bad and i'm sure i'll be afraid to drive them with a new bebe in the car.

Maternity here still undecided but I have quite a great plan. in canada we get 55% of pay for 50 weeks. My employer tops that up to 95% for the firstfor the first 12 weeks.

Dh and I can share the parental leave. Here is where we differ in opinion. I think that he should save his annual holidays for right after the birth and stay home with me for three weeks. Then in the summer next year, take the last two months at the same time as me so when dc is 9 and 10 months., is mor interesting tnan a newborn. and the weatherr is nice so we can go places.

However he hates his job, so he wants to take three months off ( one semester) eright away. It will be winter, we will be stuck inside with a baby that doesn't do much besides eat sleep and poop. That doesn't sound like much fun for one of us, let alone both of us!

sorry for spelling.on phone and typing in here from canada to uk the words take forever to appear un the box where I type. Don't see errors until ten or so words later.

HettyTurner · 10/03/2012 17:29

Hello All,

Just read through all the posts since I last wrote, and now I have practically forgotten it all! But I have been thinking/planning stuff for the baby (trying to stay positive) and I've started knitting some trousers that can fit over reusable nappies.

Oh and is it gizzy looking at birthpools? We have a birthpool in a box from DD that has never been used as I was induced. I think they're brilliant and am considering a homebirth next time too.

2 days til we hopefully see a little bean x

HeyMicky · 10/03/2012 17:32

It's been an absolutely glorious day here - tshirt weather! Walked to the post office to pick up a birthday-shaped parcel, done a tonne of washing and hung it all outside, ordered DH about in the garden, gone to the pub for a delicious alcohol-free diet coke (humph) and nicked the neighbour's Isabella Oliver catalogue to check out maternity wear Grin What's everyone else been up to?

GizzyBoo · 10/03/2012 17:38

Hi Hetty
Yes I have been looking at birth pools. There are some great bargains on ebay so I shall be looking again closer to the time. I shall also be getting my pram from ebay too...poor bargain basement baby Blush
I just guess after having a few before I know what a huge amount of money things cost and how much actual use you get out of it. I don't see the point in spending hundreds and hundreds on something that is likely to get a years use before a light weight stroller will do.
Good luck with your scan Hetty Thanks

Hello!

I wanted to write a message as I'm having a very difficult time. My partner has left me (yesterday) so now I find myself pregnant & single. It's my first and this is not what I planned at all.

Not only that, I've just literally been discharged from hospital after being in there for severe morning sickness. Last week things got so bad, dehyradration wise, that I collapsed. Luckily after a good fees days on an IV, I feel a little less dizzy! (though still sick)

I'm just wonder how I'm going to cope.

I'm due on the 9th October. How do I put that on the chart thing?

Appreciate you reading my 'woe is me' drivel!

Xx

HeyMicky · 10/03/2012 19:24

Hi Emmie, welcome.

So sorry to hear your news - not drivel at all. As if morning sickness is not horrid enough. Make sure you're looking after yourself.

It might not be what you planned, but you must still be thrilled and excited about your bean. Have you got family and friends about to help? Is there any chance of reconciliation? Maybe he's just cold feet? Is that what you want?

Morning Smile
You are so lucky Thunder and Mickey to be seeing the sunshine, the weather here has been misty, foggy and raining for the last few days! I just want the sun to shine.
Hubby is going snorkelling this afternoon so might take my book and park myself near the beach for an hour or 2 anyway!

Emmie I am sorry to hear you are having such a rough time of it. I had hyperemesis with #3 and was dreading it being bad again this time but luckily it hasn't been. Take plenty of rest breaks and try to nibble when you can. It really isn't easy but I found sickness was much worse if I was tired and my stomach was empty.
There is always time for your partner and yourself to work things out. Maybe he has just panicked??
I hope things work out for you the way you want them to Smile

Cotton, how are you??

CottonSock · 11/03/2012 18:52

Hi there all, I have been enjoying the sunshine down here as much as I can. Feeling not as bad as I thought I would this week with the long wait for tomorrow morning. It's on my mind obviously, but what will be will be. Not really much more I can add until after 10am tomorrow except good luck Hetty.. Hope you all had a good weekend

HeyMicky · 11/03/2012 19:49

Thinking of you Cotton - fingers crossed all goes well tomorrow.

And good luck Hetty

Let's all have happy scan results this week, shall we?
