Thanks Thunder...there is that to consider. I shall have a wee think while I am waiting for my appointment to come through Smile

I know exactly what it is with OH. His dad is very judgemental. They always have been. There was no need for us to have #3 apparently as we already had "one of each". They have an opinion on everything and are not afraid of making that known. OH will be worried they wont approve!!

I have given him until tomorrow to tell them or I shall be letting them know via email!

I know I am being stroppy but he needs to man up, he is a grown man expecting his 4th child.....who gives a stuff what they think!

RunningOutOfIdeas · 08/03/2012 18:01

Evening all. Psammead I am so pleased your scan was good. Fingers crossed for everyone else.

I nearly cried when I picked DD up from nursery today. She had made a card for me, with help from the nursery manager. She had drawn a picture of me on the front and inside she had written "To Mummy I love you, love DD". It was all her own writing and it is far more letters than I have ever seen her write. It must have taken so much effort for her to do it.

RnB · 08/03/2012 18:32

pinpan · 09/03/2012 03:53

Morning all,

Had my booking in appointment with my midwife today. They don't routinely check for a heartbeat with the magic doppler device until 13 weeks, but I asked if she'd have a go anyway (I'm 11+3), and there it was, loud and clear! Can't keep the Grin off my face now.

Hope everyone is who is ailing is feeling a bit better today!

babybrain3 · 09/03/2012 07:11

pinpan have you got a date for your scan through yet? I've got my booking appt on Tuesday and will be 10+6 and haven't heard anything about a scan?!?? Hope that doesn't mean I'll have to wait even longer for it...

Guccigirl79 · 09/03/2012 07:19

Morning all, have my first MW app Monday I'll 8+6 by then.not really thought about it til now I assume it'll be blood taking etc which I'm not looking forward to as not keen on needles!! (i know I'm a baby!!)

In other news, had a brill nights sleep & for the moment feel almost human, though not sure how long it will last!!

Hope everyone has a good day :-)

Welcome to the newbies :-)

32 8+3 #1

GizzyBoo · 09/03/2012 07:29

Bubble I hope you are feeling a little better this morning. The bug I had last week really knocked me about. You take care of yourself Thanks

BB I am now 10+3 and haven't heard about my scan. I need to arrange ferries and a hotel so I am getting a little twitchy. If I haven't heard by Monday I am gonna call someone!

Running your DD sounds so very sweet....bless her!

I am so glad it's Friday. I am more than ready for this week to be over. Knackered isn't the word Shock

CaptainHetty · 09/03/2012 09:25

Great news about the scan, psam
Hope everyone is feeling ok today x

RnB · 09/03/2012 10:12

pinpan how lovely for you hearing the heartbeat! Amazing. Your post made me feel all teary Grin

Hope all you poorly ladies feel better soon. I've got some kind of bug too - banging head and generally achy. Poor dd, not much chance of us getting out of the house today. Will have to ask dp to stop work this afternoon to do the school run for me as can hardly lift my head up Sad

Bubblebell1 · 09/03/2012 10:57

gizzy has your fella told his parents yet?

I understand completely why he is worried.
It's been 6 weeks since I told my sister and she is still being nasty. She hasn't spoken to me or ds1 for 4 weeks now and is still being incredibly nasty. Saying horrible things to other family members. If they defend me or say he is being unreasonable then she verbally abuses them.
I am at a loss really. Have no idea what to do to make it right. I'm so upset by the whole scenario.

I really hope no one else has to go through this. X

CaptainHetty · 09/03/2012 11:12

RnB hope you feel better soon x

Bubble I'm so sorry to hear your sister is being so nasty :( Do you know why she's so upset by it all? Seems horribly unfair on everyone involved, and you certainly don't need the added stress while you're pregnant. My boyfriend told his ex we're expecting and she's completely stopped talking to him. He goes over every evening to see their daughters and she shuts herself in her room until he leaves again :/

pinpan · 09/03/2012 11:21

babybrain, my scan is on Tuesday - but it all works a bit differently here in NZ, so I've had it booked for 3 weeks already. We choose our own midwives, get given the paperwork to book our own appointments for when we want them, etc. It all sounds like a pretty good set up to me.

RnB, hearing the heartbeat was lovely indeed! Though a little unnerving - all the MS and knackeredness aside, it feels a bit more real now! Plus my midwife was surprised to even find it, let alone loud and clear, so I don't know if I'm further on than I thought, or it's enormous, or there's more than one in there... Shock (DH says 125 beats per min is the right ballpark for a puppy. He's going to get punched soon.)

Can I briefly pick the 2nd (3rd & 4th) timer's brains about maternity jeans? My normal jeans are way too tight now - if I buy maternity jeans now, will they just carry on stretching for the whole time, or would I need another pair in a few more months? Or does it totally depend on where I put the weight on?

Thanks Bubblebell, sorry your sister is putting you through it. And Brew and Biscuit all round for everyone else feeling under the weather!

Bubblebell1 · 09/03/2012 11:35

pin depends what type u buy. Under bump or over bump. Either will be fine. Maybe best to get over bump 1s then u don't feel half naked. I use a hair toggle on my jeans and have some leggings. I will get some nee jeans in a few weeks but will get skinny under bump 1s that way if it's wobbly or baby it's free Grin

Well my sister had a mc in December so maybe it's that. But i have had a mc and so have alot of women but they don't behave like this.

MakeTeaNotWar · 09/03/2012 11:49

pin I bought jeans too early in my last pregnancy and quickly outgrew them as I didn't bank on the weight also piling on to my bum and thighs as well as my tummy so hold fire a bit of you can. Second the hair bobble route. Personally I hate over the bump jeans as they made my tummy too hot and itchy so hang loose I say!

CaptainHetty · 09/03/2012 11:55

Aw bubble :( No, I've had a miscarriage too, but I was still happy for my sister when she fell pregnant last year. I hope she comes around to the idea soon and can support you x

Thunder I seem to be thinking about it all the time, too. I'm constantly reading or Googling for baby's development at every stage, looking at prams and baby things. I'm only 9+5, think I'm getting a bit ahead of myself.

Anyone know anything about carpal tunnel syndrome during pregnancy? My right hand, wrist and forearm are really hurting me. It's like a constant ache and as it's in my dominant hand I'm really noticing it. I don't think MW/docs can do much for it? I expect it's just a case of taking painkillers when it gets bad...

MakeTeaNotWar · 09/03/2012 11:56

thunder every minute of every waking day!

cakes82 · 09/03/2012 13:39

Thunder Pretty much every minute too!

10wks today, still nothing from mw :(

Does anybody else not really feel that pg? Since I got yuck feeling under control I don't have any symptoms. Not helped by loosing weight and no cravings.

MakeTeaNotWar · 09/03/2012 14:02

Not a single symptom here either!

PopcornMouseInBoots · 09/03/2012 15:48

Thunder I'm obsessed Blush

bb I'm 9+4 and still haven't heard about a scan either. I'm booking in next week, though, so will ask the MW then. (Ironically, they have already booked me an obstetrics appt for when I'm 15 weeks Hmm )

PopcornMouseInBoots · 09/03/2012 15:52

Gizzy try not to be too hard on him - it's hard knowing that your parents will squash your loved-up baby-glee :( and I bet he just wants to make the most of it before he gets given a hard time, iyswim.

pinpan · 09/03/2012 18:28

Thunder, all the time for me too, except brief half hours when I actually manage to focus on work and get something done - and then I get hungry/tired/nauseous and start thinking about it again!

MakeTea, I've been doing the hair bobble thing for a couple of weeks now and it's okay when I'm standing up, but a bit constricting when I'm sitting down. Maybe I'll see if I can just find something cheap but bigger and stretchier to be going on with - after all, realistically I'm not going to get straight back into a size 10 for a while...

CapnHetty, I've had RSI in both arms for years now, though fortunately it doesn't seem to have got any worse with pregnancy. Getting some good wrist supports can help just to keep everything aligned as best you can (especially when touching a computer keyboard - and don't even think about the scroll wheel). Hand/wrist strengthening exercises might help (rock climbing, anyone? Hmm), though if it's from swelling, maybe not. Ibuprofen gel (are we allowed?) and deep heat work wonders for topical relief. Also wrapping them round a nice cup of tea. Brew

Hoped for a good lie in today after not getting home til after midnight, but had to get up and eat. Drat! Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hi everyone. Friday, yay!

I definitely thought about little else when I was pg first time round but it's true (for me at least) that second time you just don't have the time! I feel doubly tired because of work AND a little one this time round...

I have finally got my booking appt on Tuesday - turns out receptionist should have done it when I passed her noted from doctor (4 weeks ago now...) but luckily a helpful person at the surgery sorted it out. Can't wait! Will make it all the more real to get the 'blue book' of notes!
