MissPenteuth · 05/03/2012 11:29

Hi everyone, and welcome to the newbies. Sorry I'm not much good at keeping up with the thread; I'm busy chasing after DD a lot of the time. It's her 2nd birthday this Wednesday so I'm currently trying to organise presents, cake etc. I want to make a cake but can only attempt something fairly unambitious in my current state of perpetual tiredness/nausea!

Has anyone else been feeling dizzy along with their morning sickness? I get it in the evenings; I'm assuming it's just a pregnancy symtom of sorts, but occasionally I wonder if I should be asking the MWs about it. Any ideas?

I've got a scan this Friday; I'm equal parts excited and terrified tbh. I think I'll be about 9/10 weeks then, but by LMP I'm about 12w (periods were very irregular so I'm going by conception date). So I suspect it'll be too early for all the 12w scan measurements, and I'll need another scan in a few weeks. I did phone up and ask if I should reschedule, but the MW said that if I'm unsure of dates it's best to stick to the earlier scan and have another later if necessary.

Hope all those that are illing recover soon x

MarieFromStMoritz · 05/03/2012 11:42

pinpan, thanks so much for the lovely flowers! Do you have any magazines? Grin. I am on bed rest for the foreseeable future.

CottonSock · 05/03/2012 12:34

I had my scan this morning, not looking good. Sac measuring 5+3 (not 8), showing some blood around it and I think it was empty. I am sure on my dates, but guess there could be a small chance of late implantation. But, with the lack of symptoms and the spotting I am not feeling very hopeful :(

Re scan in a weeks time.

Psammead · 05/03/2012 14:35

Sorry for your bad news, Cotton. Keepng my fingers crossed for you for next week.

GizzyBoo · 05/03/2012 14:37

Oh cotton you must be so worried. I'm sorry it wasn't more reassuring news today. I too will be keeping my fingers crossed for you Thanks

Welcome to all the newbies Smile

10 weeks tomorrow! Woop woop.....double figures!
How does anyone go to work and be pregnant and have MS all at the same time?? I am so lucky in the fact I just do supply and work odd days here and there and have been able to turn shifts down while I have been feeling grotty but I was offered a full week this week and thought...ooooh that will come in handy and so took it....I'm ready fro a break already and its only monday Blush

MissPenteuth I also get dizzy...mainly first thing in the morning and then in the evenings. I just put it down as yet another symptom!

Hoping to hear about a date for my Nuchal scan this week....I need to get a BB booked and sort out ferry tickets and child care for the other 3!

HettyTurner · 05/03/2012 16:00

Oh cotton me too! Sack was empty and measuring 4-5 weeks. It could still be too early to tell and going back in a week. This would put me back about 2 weeks which is sort of possible, but I got my first BFP 4 weeks ago. Feeling pretty certain it's a 'blighted ovum' as Dr Google has told me. How big was your sack? Mine was 20mm so right on the cusp of when a yolk sack should be present.

Only hope is still got pregnancy symptoms.

Psammead · 05/03/2012 16:03

Was that today, Hetty?

HettyTurner · 05/03/2012 16:52

Yeah, this morning. I really hate not knowing either way.

HettyTurner · 05/03/2012 16:53

Just read that a blighted ovum increases HCG and so you get preg symptoms. I think I should step away from my laptop and go and play with my wonderful DD to take my mind off it.

Bubblebell1 · 05/03/2012 16:58

Oh hetty I'm so sorry fingers crossed it's just late implantation x

CottonSock · 05/03/2012 17:05

Hetty Sorry to hear your bad news. I didn't ask the size (or any other questions I wish I had afterwards), I had my first BFP 4 weeks ago, so it's very unlikely to be a good outcome for me (would have to mean Doc was out by almost a week + got preg 1 day before AF due and then tested positive next day). I'm no Doc, but that seems unlikely.

It's horrible have to wait it out, but Google has told me that there are some positive outcomes. Esp for women with tilted uterus - which I think I have - as it makes baby harder to see. Silly me requested an abdominal scan rather than internal which won't have helped. The Doc did have a long hard look though. She said next time she would do internal scan to be sure.

Because there is a chance I could only be 5 weeks, wait and see is the only approach. DH keeps telling me to stop looking it up and to watch TV..

Fingers crossed for you for next week

Littleplasticpeople · 05/03/2012 17:59

Thinking of you both hetty and cottonsock, fingers crossed things work out well x

I've got my booking in appointment tomorrow, I rang up to make the appointment and then had to call back 5 mins later as I forgot what time they said!

Still sick, hoping for a miraculous week ten recovery!

pinpan · 05/03/2012 18:21

Hugs for cottonsock and Hetty - shall keep fingers and toes crossed for you. BrewBrew

Marie, I think if I were confined to my bed, I would make my way (again) through the entire works of Georgette Heyer. Send someone to the library! (Oh no, did I just let out my secret love of regency romance and 1930's detective novels?)

Today I continued my mission of waking up and proceeding straight to shreddies (do not pass Go, do not collect $200). It's super hard getting out of bed, but getting food straight in does seem to help the nausea. DH hasn't help by recalling the existence of all sorts of foods that I can't get on this side of the world but now really want - can someone go and eat a fruit/crunch corner for me?

HettyTurner · 05/03/2012 18:26

Cotton that's exactly the same for me WRT dates of tests etc so like you I'm not certain. I asked sonographer and she said that people often kept told they are 2 weeks further on or behind even when they are certain it can't be possible.

What is annoying is that I wanted to change the scan for next week and they wouldn't let me even though I knew I was nowhere near as pregnant as they thought, so I'm directing most of my anger at the red tape of the NHS as if this pregnancy is just not as far as I thought and next week it is all fine I will have been through all this stress for nothing.

Got tutoring tonight and then going straight to bed. What will be will be either way won't it?

Psammead · 05/03/2012 19:41

Best of luck, Hetty. Must be torture, not knowing.

MsInterpret · 05/03/2012 19:48

Sorry to hear of your uncertain news Hetty and cottonsock. I'm thinking of you and hoping things are more positive soon.

pinpan - where are you? Think I must have missed that bit!

Another one who has the 'Only Monday?!' feeling here. I am finally having a bit of an appetite this evening and fancy gorging myself on some throughly unhealthy snacks but there's almost nothing in. Probably for the best, but Ryvita slathered with Lurpak is just not cutting it! Don't even have any cheese= unheard of in this house Confused

RunningOutOfIdeas · 05/03/2012 20:01

Sorry to hear your news cottonsock and Hetty. I hope you both have better news next week. pinpan I found that having either a banana or some ginger biscuits by my bed did the trick for me. If I eat before making any attempt to even fully sit up I avoid the worst of MS.

I had to have an empty stomach for my liver scan today so I was not allowed lunch. At 12 I was sent to the EPU for a second baby scan and had to wait next to some one eating crisps. Then when I was wheeled to my liver scan, the porters parked me outside the scan room, disappeared round the corner, then returned eating doughnuts! I felt like leaping off my bed and mugging them for a maple syrup doughnut.

MsInterpret · 05/03/2012 20:31

Grin at mugging someone for doughnuts running

HeyMicky · 05/03/2012 20:46

Evening all. Wow, reading back the last few days doesn't make for a fun time. Hope everyone gets a better scan result when you go back. Finger crossed all round.

To add to the list of woes, my job has mysteriously disappeared in the restructure announced today.

Hanging out for 12 weeks scan next week

MissRedIndie · 05/03/2012 22:40

Hetty and Cotton, so sorry to hear your news, the waiting is the hardest things in these situations, will keep everything crossed for you both...

MissP your dizziness could be low blood pressure, don't think there is any great drama with that, but probably worth mentioning to your midwife and standing up slowly after lying down, as it will always be worse then.

Loopy, I had the same kind of midwife care when I had DD1, midwife team based at GPs for antenatal and postnatal care, but hospital midwives for the actual delivery. Worked out completely fine, and didn't seem to matter about lack of continuity - that's what your notes are for! I think it's always quite handy to have access to a variety of midwives in case your regular midwife is a miserable cow not your cup of tea.

HeyMicky, I hope your scan will help distract you from the restructuring - what a miserable thing to go through!

Tennerlady · 06/03/2012 00:43

Hi can I join this thread I'm 7wks by lmp date but had scan last week and only measured 4+2 but not worried as that tyes in with night I know I got caught ha ha 3/2 not planned pregnancy but defo wanted I'm going to see consultants tomorrow as diabetic and proberbly get telling off but don't care as I'm 40 and this is my 5 pregnacy iv got 3 boys and had ectopic last year x

pinpan · 06/03/2012 02:24

Hi Tennerlady, welcome!

HeyMicky, you poor thing! If it's a total mystery as to why the job disappeared, can you fight back? My cousin-in-law had her job disappear in a restructure during maternity leave (they forgot she existed because she wasn't there every day) but managed to sort something out (though it did end up involving applying for 'new' jobs, I think). Last thing you want to have to deal with right now though, I'm sure. Sad

Running, I had a MS incident with a banana and have gone off them a bit for the moment. Ginger biscuits is a good idea though. A friend made ginger cake for cake club (oh yes, cake club) at work this morning, and it was awesome.

MsInterpret, I'm just outside Christchurch (or, as I like to call it, Shaky Town) in NZ. It's great in every way except distance from family, and occasional large earthquakes. Grin
