Welcome and congrats to the newbies Thanks

Hetty I am permanently knackered. I have to nap at least once a day and then still find myself clock watching come 8pm and waiting for bedtime Blush
I haven't gained any weight yet, in fact I have lost half a stone but I put that down to lack of liquid calories Blush and the sickness. I am going to really try and not go nuts with this pregnancy. I am a size 18 anyway so really could do without it!

Cotton that made me laugh. I've not been eaten yet! We do get rather a lot of midge though. As for other bugs I have hardly seen any!

Well the doc in his wisdom decided not to scan me today totally gutted as I am sure of my dates and there really isn't much room for error either side. I have decided to go away to Glasgow to have the nuchal scan done. Got home and went from loved up to raging in 30 seconds flat when hubby decided it would be a waste of time him accompanying me to the mainland and I would be best going it alone. I lost it Blush and ranted, then sulked, then napped Blush
He wisely changed his mind Grin

CottonSock · 22/02/2012 20:12

I find swimming good Hetty, I went this morning before work which I do 2-3 times a week and really enjoy (I won't be able to do that once I'm a parent!). I guess if you feel sick it might be a no no. I get chatted up by a 80+ year old man every time I go, right cheeky flirt he is, and gets away with it. I will be wearing a very modest maternity suit when the time comes.

I just noticed there is a November baby thread already.. :)

AliceHurled · 22/02/2012 21:02

Cotton, NCer is namechanger.

And don't mind you asking. I had an early scan cos I had some spotting. It really wasn't much, and I was surprised I was sent tbh, but the GP wanted to. And they couldn't see anything for ages, but then suddenly it came into view and yes there was a definite pulsating heart beat Grin

Winnie81 · 22/02/2012 21:10

Evening all!

I'm totally shattered tonight. Loads going on at work that I have to deal with and then the added pressures of Uni and studying!

I had my scan today and they confirmed my dates of edd 2nd oct!

Saw a tiny pip and a fluttering heartbeat!

Hello everyone! Can I come join too? 5 +2 - feels like such early days! We haven't told anyone yet apart from our best friends - figured that family members will get too excited and I'm feeling a bit cautious after an early m/c last summer. Hoping it will be a nice surprise when we finally spill the beans! Have told everyone I've given up alcohol for Lent, so that should buy me a bit of time before the questions start Wink

Not feeling sick or anything so far, but escaped that with dd1 so fingers crossed the sickness stays away... I feel for all of the sufferers out there!

Smile Told my parents today as they will have to look after DS when I go for my scan. Drs should have rung me today to tell me when the scan was going to be, but didn't. I know they can't scan before 6 weeks and I'm not quite 5 but it would be nice to know, I can't relax until they've checked baby is in the right place. I'll have to call them tomorrow, but am at work, so will be skulking in corridors and meeting rooms making furtive phone calls...
MissPenteuth · 23/02/2012 09:52

Hi everyone, just checking in. Congrats to all the new BFPs :)

Tired and nauseous here, but haven't actually vomitted. Didn't with DD either, although I'm sure I feel worse this time. I think I could keep the nausea at bay if I ate constantly, but I'm trying to keep a happy medium between not feeling too sick and not piling the weight on (put on 3st with DD, managed to lose most of it by doing exercise DVDs while she napped, but with a newborn and a toddler that won't be as easy).

I had my booking in appt yesterday; just form-filling-in and blood tests, although I'm needlephobic so that was actually quite a Big Deal for me. Glad it's over, for now anyway. Scan is on 9th March, although by my dates I'll only be 9.5w then so I think I'll need another scan later.

Pixiepops · 23/02/2012 10:57

Morning ladies,

It's 7+4 here and I'm tired & hungry, no nausea though Grin. It's 2 weeks until my booking in appointment. I have to wait until then before I get my scan date, do you think it's likely that the midwife will sort it at my appointment or will I have to wait for a letter or something?

I used to think I was quite patient, but this pregnancy is really testing that theory! I really want 12 weeks to be over, for everything to be OK, and to be able to tell people! Apart from DP & I , my mum's the only other person who knows. She's desperate to be able to tell people too!

Welcome to all of the newbies Smile

cakes82 · 23/02/2012 11:27

To anyone suffering from nausea, I can really recommend travel bands. They are accupressure bands and OMG do they work!! I bought mine from boots, they are expensive for what they are but they are working for me.
By my dates I'm 7+6 today but the scans I've had say i'm about 7+2. Still haven't had an appt. through for mw although I won't be seeing her till about 10wks anyway. I think because of the scans i've had and seeing the heartbeat i'm a bit more relaxed to tell people even though its still early days. Although we still haven't told everyone yet.

HeyMicky · 23/02/2012 12:07

pixiepops I had to book my scan while I was at the booking in appointment and having my bloods done - they were adjoining clinics and the hospital had a whole process for me to follow and a list of things to be ticked off over the 3 hours I was there

Pezzina · 23/02/2012 12:27

Hi Ladies!

MissPenteuth I'm with you on the needle phobia thing and can totally appreciate what you went through.

I've got my booking in appointment tomorrow and I've got sweaty palms just thinking about it and the needles - yikes! In my other pregnancy I actually downloaded a 15 minute hypnosis audio from Paul McKenna's website to help with the phobia and it did work but I didn't keep it - doh!

Pezzina · 23/02/2012 12:28

Cakes my friend also recommended the travel bands. She had really bad nausea to begin with but once she started wearing them she hardly had any.

I'm finding the "eating all the time method" to be working for me though Blush

damnitdamnit · 23/02/2012 12:30

Hi everyone, I can't add myself to the list as iPad won't let me, so if someone could do it for me that would be great.

EDD DC3 22nd October

I have booking appointment with midwife booked in for 9th march, not told anyone yet in RL dreading tomorrow night as I have family event to attend and I am worrying about being spotted not drinking (not the norm for me! Grin)

Not has ms with previous pregnancies but really feeling it this time especially later in the evening and during the night. Got up to dd2 last night and had to be sick first.

Think the tiredness is kicking in too as all I can think about today is getting dd2 down for her nap so I can sit down myself. Wink

Psammead · 23/02/2012 12:55

Had my first appointment, finally! There's a different system in Germany, you go to the gynaechologist (I can't spell it, sorry) for everything, ante-natal. You then pick out a midwife, you can interview them and everything, whose job it is to meet you once before the birth and then come to visit you at home afterwards.

I have a new gynaethatword and I wasn't over keen on her, but we'll see how it goes. My last one was great but we moved. At least this one is only 5 mins walk away.

No scan today, they offered one but I would have had to pay as it's unnecessary/non-urgent for me. If you need one medically, they do it for free. Next appointment 8th of March!

I don't mind needles in the least which is good because they always massacre my arm trying to find a vein!

Chrestomanci · 23/02/2012 20:06

Being scanned on Monday at 7.45am! Will only be 5.4 weeks but apparantly thats the only time they can fit me in for 3 weeks! Had to ring 3 different departments who all denied all knowledge of how to book an early scan before one lovely lady took pity on me and sorted it out. Much sympathy to those suffering ms. Fraid I'm one of those annoying peolle who doesn't get ms.

GizzyBoo · 24/02/2012 12:09

I NEED a lettuce and salad cream sandwich!! Blush

HeyMicky · 24/02/2012 12:42

Ha ha gizzy

I have a raging cold so the only thing I want is pineapple - lucky it's late Feb not late September!

I've left work early - going to take to my bed with tea and the cat

GizzyBoo · 24/02/2012 12:59

Micky that sounds like a great plan!

Hubby is on his was home from work with lettuce, bread and salad cream Grin
I do like him some days lol

GizzyBoo, love that you've got him so well trained! I completely missed out on cravings and pregnancy symptoms in general with dd1. Wondering if it'll go the same way this time too. It's still early for me (5+5) but the only reason I can tell I'm pregnant is the BFP and still no period, otherwise I wouldn't believe it and would be having mucho wine tonight!

MissRedIndie · 24/02/2012 14:50

Thunder I thought exactly the same. I tried the other group but just didn't feel like I fitted there. I am more than happy with our little home here Smile

I am lucky that this week my cravings have been green! Lettuce, celery, grapes and cucumber...bad thing is I have been eating loads of bread. Oh well. It will all even itself out once the sickness has stopped. Right now I am just nibbling what and when I fancy!

and Red yes he is rather well trained! Grin

babybrain3 · 24/02/2012 18:40

Goodness-I didn't realise there was another group.... What an odd thing to say! We should think ourselves lucky we get any child benefit at all the way things are going!!!! Wink
