Ah, welcome to the thread, boo!

addictediam · 16/01/2012 11:45

If any of you want a giggle [http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/a1384493-So-when-your-toddler-pulls-at-you-and-shouts-hi-der-come-here-maybe-just-maybe-listen#29516435 this] is turning out to be quite a funny thread, and will show (or remind) some of you what you have to look forward to!

stupid hormones.

I have cried most of this morning, cried when i got up, (Pain) cried when dh called me earlier (he was being nice to me) and just had the biggest massive sobbing session in the bath for about 20 minutes ( have no answer for that one). i'm all dehydrated and headachy now. What a twonk.

Feeling very fragile really but it's cathartic isn't it-supposed to be good for oxytocin too. Not that i want to go into spontaneous labour now anyway.

i'm also craving coconut-i don't even like coconut much. On the upside the pain improved for having been soaked in warm water for over an hour.

is anyone else this weepy?

Oeisha · 16/01/2012 12:37

Congratulations to MZ and welcome Ame! Thanks Bear

Good luck parsley!

fishy I just keep hanging on to 3 weeks time...I will have a baby...

for ghost too.

sho good lord, so do I. Though knowimg my luck I'll go back to full-blown migraines...though I can cope with those better for some reason.

Hello boo! We're a chatty lot, be warned!

Whatever Abi's doing in there right now it's very pressurey and mildly painful...also getting shooty retal pains, but again not that bad...what the frigg?!

Hi all. Thanks for the good wishes. Just had the pessary. It is the new drug. The same one that fish's sister had.

It's like a tampon. That slowly releases the drug over 24hrs. It should either 1) start spontaneous labour 2) soften things enough so that they can break my waters or 3) do nothing and I have to have another one at 1pm tomorrow.

Cervix is currently high and closed though so am preparing for a long wait.

Currently being monitored which I will need to be every 4 hours.

ghosteditor · 16/01/2012 13:25

Good luck Parsley! Keeping fx for you that it gets things going quickly; interesting to hear the details.

saladcreamwitheverything · 16/01/2012 13:49

Hope it works soon Parsley!

Got a bit excited this morning as I lost what I assume to be the plug! Had a few cramping pains but nothing I'd describe as contractions. Using DSSs space hopper to bounce on as a last minute attempt to encourage things along!

I can't say I'm looking forward to my induction tomorrow, hopefully things will happen MissRee style!

biddyofsuburbia · 16/01/2012 14:07

Hello ladies! Was on this thread months ago but not had time to be here since - now waiting around at home in an overdue fashion and thought I would see how all the rest of you are doing! Congrats to everyone who has had babies & feeling slightly comforted reading this that I'm not the only one who is in overdue territory although hoping all babies come soon as I know I'm going a little bit bonkers waiting & hoping not to have induction as am a bit scared! 40 +4 today and going back on Thursday. Last Thursday was told head floating& not engaged, hard posterior cervix, back to back and likely baby at least 4kg...come on body DO something! This is number 3 as well so you would think...

Out of interest, after 41 weeks how often do they monitor you/baby to check all is OK or is it just a question of come back next week if all seems fine at the appointment?

fishandlilacs · 16/01/2012 15:43

welcome back biddy

fishandlilacs · 16/01/2012 15:45

this

BigHotMama · 16/01/2012 16:41

Congratulations to mummyzoe Thanks

Good luck parsley fx it's not too long now

Welcome biddy Smile

BigHotMama · 16/01/2012 16:42

Oh and good luck for your induction tomorrow saladcream

saladcreamwitheverything · 16/01/2012 17:37

Thanks BHM!

Those of you who had inductions - how many days did you plan to be in hospital with regards packing your hospital bag?? Just done mine and I've assumed three.....hope not.

ParsleyLion1 · 16/01/2012 17:56

I have also assumed 3 but I had assumed 2 of those with nighties which may have been an error. I might need an extra change of comfy normal clothes tomorrow.

Have dull period back pains at the mo but nothing more exciting. Am a bit constipated, they have offered me a suppository as the lactulose is too sugary for my GD I thought I'd give it a bit longer but apparently constipation can hold up the induction process

ghosteditor · 16/01/2012 18:02

Good to hear the update parsley and sorry that things aren't moving faster for you...

saladcreamwitheverything · 16/01/2012 18:04

Thanks Parsley, I was hoping you'd have a bit more progress by now, bet you're bored? (I was gonna say bored shitless but obv not if you're suffering constipation!!!) i'd better start on the prunes today then! is your other half staying with you overnight if you have no more progress or are they sending him home?

Oeisha · 16/01/2012 18:05

Welcome back biddy
I think if all is OK they just do a weekly checks...not sure though.

parsley Def take the supository. Did nowt for me, but infinitely better than waiting for bugger all to happen.

So Missyface went all quiet (as in 2 movements in 6 hours), so went in for a CTG, where she promptly went bat-shit. She's all fine, and is apparently left again LOA! Grin Also seemed to be having regular tightenings. She got all sniffy when we talked about BHs and said that the UA measurement was basically irrelevent and didn't mean anything. Yet...I was kept in hospital at 31wks because of the CTG readings...! Confused

ghosteditor · 16/01/2012 18:07

Welcome back biddy! I'm 40+4 too and our other due date buddy cakes have birth on the EDD in the end! Good to have some company. I have a sweep booked for Friday, and we'll also book an induction then for a week Friday if no action. Baby is ROA and fully engaged, so I'm hopeful. But I'm mentally exhausted by all the uncertainty - I've been having braxton hicks for weeks, and fairly strong regular BHs for several days, plus cramps and over the last couple of days some stabby pains in my cervix. No show, though. Feeling a bit glum about it now. I'm going to yoga at 7 in the hope it'll get things moving!

ghosteditor · 16/01/2012 18:09

(sorry for the dreadful grammar of my last post: fat hands mean I'm a bit careless Blush )

ParsleyLion1 · 16/01/2012 18:14

I sent him home ages ago tbh. I can't be arsed with having to entertain him as well! Luckily we only live 10 mins away from hospital so he came in with me and stayed for an hour. Then came back after lunch and took me for a drink and a walk. He'll be back again about 7. I think they will throw him out about 10 if I'm not in labour.

I'm bored but mostly because I can't focus on anything. I've brought games, puzzles, books and downloaded films but can't concentrate on anything for longer than about 10 mins.

ghosteditor · 16/01/2012 18:15

Oeisha that must have been worrying for you. Glad that all's ok. Fx that the tightenings develop into something significant, but if not, I know how that feels!

Ppm has been unusually active since last night, but I think it's because I went to the cinema (watched War Horse) and it was all boomy and the baby was v wriggly - has been ever since! We tend to have quiet days followed by busy days, which in fairness is more or less how I operate in life, so maybe ppm is picking up my habits already Grin.

Am hoping for Baby Average - tomorrow is my EDD+5, which I hear is the average (presumably median) date for first babies to be born. Today was the EDD according to my LMP. When baby inevitably doesn't arrive tomorrow, I'm going to be gloomy again, I think.

saladcreamwitheverything · 16/01/2012 18:42

parsley Grin @ entertaining him as well. Oh God I hadn't thought of that!! [puts x-box in hospital bag] Hope you get more progress soon, if you have the suppository it might get all manner of things moving.

Good luck with Baby Average ghost mine was due on 28th dec going by my LMP!! [DH threatening to take me on Jeremy for DNA test Grin ]

abeautifulbutterfly · 16/01/2012 20:26

Parsley sending you vibes to get everything moving (send them back when you're done with them, OK? Wink). I know where you're coming from with the concentration span - children's literature is my friend atm.
Wish we lived near enough to the hosp for me to send DH home on a whim; in previous births I found him reading the weekly current affairs mag as if it were a normal evening at home while I was contracting away next to him rather soul-destroying...
Saladcream good luck for you too.
I had an internal at the hosp today after my CTG and woohoo she said I was "nice and loose and slightly dilated" (one of those things you wouldn't take from anyone but an ob/gyn at any time but this Grin Grin Grin) but cervix still closed.
Unfortunately I have got GBS so I have to go in when labour starts rather than doing the spectacular mad dash at cx every 3-4 mins that I would have preferred. DH is adamant I'm going to give birth on Weds but can't be any more precise than that (i.e. whether I'll be labouring tomorrow and give birth in the early hours or labouring all through Weds). I sacked my female intuition years ago and won't believe anything till I feel it...
Have planned loads of important errands for tomorrow, though, to improve chances of waters going somewhere v. embarrassing like the supermarket car park or the revenue office...

Here's hoping that all our aches and pains prove worthwhile asap!

Take care!

peanuts777 · 16/01/2012 22:00

fish feeling a bit squirmy about the epidural? I am crapping myself and have been in tears on and off pretty much all day today for no reason.

I am hoping that my waters burst any minute. Last time my waters broke, cx started pretty much straight away and DD arrived 6 hrs afterwards. With DS, I had to be induced but when I got to the ward I was 2cm dilated and he was with us 4 hours later. they just broke my waters and I was on my way.

Seems such a waste haing to have ELCS. I had epidural before, but I was in PAIN! I can't imagine walking off the street and someone sticking a needle in my spine.........?!?

What time are you going in? I have to be there at 06h00........Hmm

peanuts777 · 16/01/2012 22:06

Just read through the thread and it's hard to keep up?!
Congrats to the newbies and hugs to all the suffering ladies........Home stretch now........and then there's a whole lot new bag of worries and sleepless nights, but mixed in with even nicer bits x
