I managed two 3 hours sleep which is a record: go DS!!!!

The first gap could have been a bit longer except I woke up before he did...d'Oh!

Hope people got a bit more rest and good luck today for ll those with grumpy DPs....

Morning all, we had another projectile vomiting episode last night. Sad
LO had slept all evening, which was odd, he just woke a couple of times to feed and then went straight back to sleep. Until bedtime of course. Then he became very unsettled and grizzly. The feed-cry-nappy-cry-feed cycle continued for a couple of hours until he went into his Moses basket awake but not whinging. He rested for 5 minutes and then was sick over his basket and part of my bed, -projectile and thru his nose -Sad. I leapt up, picked him up, he was sick all over me too.after lots of cuddles he calmed down, I changed his clothes and sheets and my bra and put a bath towel over my bed sheet. Immediately he wanted another feed and would not be put off. Then he slept. I've been checking every whimper since! (yawn!!)
He woke this morning at 4 for a feed, and he's been grizzly since 6 so just done another.
We're both lying on the towel now, stinking of sick. Smile I'm so tired, but we have big plans for the day.
I'm going to a huge shopping mall to get the last of the AllSaints/John Lewis/M&P sales. I'm braving it alone with the pram, and so will have to do a first public bf - alone.
Then going to mum's for lunch before heading out to visit granddad and then visiting mum's office so she can show-off her grandson. (she doesn't work Fridays -winding down to retirement).

We went out for a walk yesterday and when we called into the Spar, the pram was much admired. The 2 ladies weren't much interested in the baby. ...it's probably what made Alistair sick.

Btw As soon as he was sick, he was fine, and has been fine since - so I guess a visit to the docs is not necessary? (he projectile vomited on Sunday).

LittleMissFlustered · 13/01/2012 07:48

Sorry aethel my phone fell off the bed. Constant food and grousing last night. I've managed one as a half hours sleep. Today I'll be
Attempting to nap between school runs.

oi john Lewis have a good parent room where you could bf in relative privacy if you lose your nerve.

kiteflying · 13/01/2012 08:57

Hi again - and thanks to those who sent congrats on my lovely water baby. Have only managed to read two pages of thread - sorry to everyone that is getting little sleep/help/sanity. I wanted to suggest some help for those with sicky babies - projectile vomiting is a bit scary i know. I hope Oimissus that your Alistair is better today. We had to take DD1 into hospital after a nasty bout of it.....another lifetime ago, but normal sicky-ickiness i have found is helped by keeping bubs upright for a goodly time after a feed. If i am in bed in the middle of the night, i let baby sleep on my chest for a good half an hour before trying to put her down. I am killing my back during the day walking around the house with a nine pound baby clutched against my chest of course!

My first baby was a reflux sufferer, but i still have my fingers crossed this one will just be a bit sicky as she has had enough to deal with already.

I am experiencing really fast let down with this baby - anyone else? Poor little mite looks up shocked as she sputters and chokes on her first spurt of milk. It seems to be better if I feed lying on my side on a bed.

mopsytop · 13/01/2012 09:37

Oi, hope Alistair is ok.

Husband took day off today so we have lovely long weekend together. And, even better, I did the first shift until 1am and husband did night shift so I got EIGHT HOURS sleep in a row!!!!!! Amazing. Mixed feeding definitely has it's benefits. Will need to feed/express now badly though! The best thing about long weekend is that while I will do night shift tonight, husband can do it again tomorrow so I'll get another good night. Exciting!

mopsytop · 13/01/2012 09:39

Its not it's - stupid iPhone!

kiteflying · 13/01/2012 11:06

i jinxed myself and my Lulu has tossed up milk after every feed tonight. Sad

KateM77 · 13/01/2012 11:36

Good luck on the big day out Oi. You'll get to know shops with good baby rooms. They're great for not-so-public feeding if that's what you prefer, have baby changing facilities, and most importantly have a loo that you can use and can wheel the pram into.

Made it round Tesco on my own with both kids this morning. So proud! I seem to be the opposite to a lot of you in that I can't bear not to go out and about each day. I need to go out to break up the day, keep DD more entertained, get some fresh air, talk to adults etc.! Be brave ladies - you'll soon get in the swing of packing up for you and baby, and will soon get over any worries over public feeding too.

Have had a busy week so only just managing to skim through the thread. Hope you're all doing OK. Look forward to hearing from MissRee

sevenswansaswimming · 13/01/2012 12:21

Hi how is everyone? I thought you'd all be in post-natal by now. Sorry I've not been on since Christmas but I don't feel like I'm coping very well with 2, I never seem to have 2 minutes to myself anymore, there just aren't enough hours in the day to get everything done!

I'm having major issues with Eva, she has to be held upright all of the time otherwise she screams. For the last week only me or DH has gone to bed, the other has to stay up holding her all night. I phoned the HV earlier, she suggested trying lactose-free formula, DH is picking some up on his way home from work. She said if there's no improvement to take her to the drs.

NorthernChinchilla · 13/01/2012 12:27

Oh hawthers that made me hoot! I'm in the same position now, whenever OH is holding DS and there's a loud trumping sound I don't know who to glare at!

I refuse to take that anti-b mmmm- I'm not allergic to it but it's the only thing that's ever made me so sick I bring up bile. Sounds like it works the other way on you. You have my deepest empathy and sympathy, and I really hope it doesn't affect your LO. Things can ONLY get better for you, and hawthers.
I also think it might be because my LO doesn't really burp, and isn't sicky, that it just all comes out the other end, with 'enthusiasm' as aethel says Grin.

I was just thinking this morning- when we got woken early by a gas man coming round to check the house as there'd been a report of gas smells in the street, to check we weren't about to blow up!- that we hadn't heard from lala or tyel recently. Hope all's well and glad to see you back kri5ty.

Wow, projectile vomit and a big trip out in one day Oi- that is Captain Kirk levels of braveness and endurance! Let us know how it goes, and what JL's is like, as we've got a big one at Bluewater that I may well make use of. Sorry you jinxed yourself on the sick front kite.

Right, lunch then friend dropping round, the highlight of the week! AND, sprog still sleeps in the sling post popping out to get the paper....not sure whether to eat lunch over him or try putting him down....

NorthernChinchilla · 13/01/2012 12:31

Blimey seven that does not sound like fun, you poor thing. You sound like you're coping well with a very tricky situation, especially with two LOs. Hope Eva improves.

Mmmmcheese · 13/01/2012 12:36

seven good to have you back! I think all of us with 2 are finding it very difficult. Do you think Eva hasa reflux? That's what DS had and he had to be held up all the time. I used a sling for most of the day and didn't sleep much at nights either! Definitely worth getting checked out by the dr as there is medication you can try.

Kate I also need to get out every day or I feel awful. Even in the midst of all my various pains and illnesses I've been getting out for at least a 30 min walk in daylight. I find I get a bit down unless I do that.

Had cleaner here all morning which is great but has meant that I haven't had a chance to catch up on sleep and have to go to GP at 3 so probably won't get a chance this afternoon either.

msbuggywinkle · 13/01/2012 12:38

Thank you for reminding me about my slow cooker! Will get an all-slow cooked meal plan done for next week. Have made an effort with lunch today, we had noodle salad with loads of herbs and sugar snap peas. Have ordered a load of frozen fruit this week to make smoothies for breakfasts, then even if it all does go pear shaped later in the day I have had something healthy!

oi hope you are having fun shopping!

seven that sounds really tough and reminds me of DD1. Hope the lactose free sorts it for you all.

sevenswansaswimming · 13/01/2012 12:50

Thanks all, glad I'm not the only one struggling, I was feeling like a bit of a failure tbh. Even my friend who was contemplating having another baby has decided not to have another one after coming round the other day and seeing me struggling to cope.

mmm is it any better now?

Mmmmcheese · 13/01/2012 13:15

DS gradually improved and then when he was weaned he was much better but had v sensitive gag reflex so is still easily sick if something goes down the wrong way. He's 2 now. We tried infant Gaviscon but it made him constipated and was hard to give while breastfeeding. If Eva is in pain from eg excess acid there are a few different drugs they can try. I think reflux is common in premature babies, although I think Eva got to 35 weeks so not too prem?

Msb if it makes you feel better I've only managed to eat digestive biscuits so far today!

Mmmmcheese · 13/01/2012 13:21

Seven we also bought a wedge to go in the cot to keep him propped up all night. He couldn't lie flat on his back without being sick until around 6 monthd. Don't be hard on yourself, reflux is really hard to deal with.

Mmmmcheese · 13/01/2012 13:23

Sorry just remembered he would go in bouncy chair during the day when not in the sling as it kept him just enough upright. He also always loved being on his tummy so lots of tummy time but even with all of that he would still be sick after every feed.

MissRee · 13/01/2012 14:33

Oh bum, I added a message here earlier but it looks like MN ate it Sad

Just wanted to pop in and say that this thread is now redundant... Baby Freya Violet arrived at 00:15 on 12.01.12 weighing 7lb7oz Grin

Quick just of birth is that my waters broke and I went into established labour whilst waiting for prostin gel 2 hours after being examined and told my cervix was closed, posterior and still quite long. 7 hours later and Freya arrived in 3 pushes Grin

No stitches required!

I'm still in shock and awe at how perfect she is... but of course I'm biased Wink

She's a bit of a sleepyhead but is feeding well. MW came today and apparently I make this look easy Grin

Happy happy Ree right now Grin

sevenswansaswimming · 13/01/2012 14:51

Congratulations missree!

mmm thanks for the advice, yes she was 35+6. I think reflux is sounding very likely but I guess it's best to try the lactose-free first before trying meds to see what helps.

NorthernChinchilla · 13/01/2012 16:16

Congratulations on rounding off the thread so beautifully missree and welcome Freya (same weight as my LO).

Ooooooh, post-natal here we come!

LittleMissFlustered · 13/01/2012 16:20

Well done MissRee :o

MissRee · 13/01/2012 16:40

Thanks ladies Grin

How's your LO now LMF?

Mmmmcheese · 13/01/2012 17:20

Urgh waste of time going to rubbish GP. I said I had very sore nipples and shooting pains deep in the breast and he said "that doesn't sound like thrush". ???!!! Then he went on about signs of breast cancer for 5 mins. He said it would only be thrush if I had white patches on my nipples, I'm sure that's not right?! At least I have my 6 week check on tuesday with a different GP so will ask again then.

Also asked him to check my ears as they hurt but thought it was prob due to infected tooth, turns out I have an ear infection on top of everything else! Surely that must be a record for most amount of things wrong with one person at the same time?! Hopefully the anti-bs will clear everything up at once.

Sorry for waffling today. I post with one hand when feeding so am on here lots at the moment.

Congrats missree, sounds like a great birth after all the waiting!

BeeMyBaby · 13/01/2012 17:38

congratulations missree

My DH has gone back to Algeria to visit his family (very much a holiday as his mother and sister will do absolutely everything for him) chinchilla and took DD1 with him as his family wanted to see her. Admittedly, as he has taken DD1 (for his mother to look after) it does make it very easy for me just looking after DD2.

mmcheese you could ask your HV as my HV was able to prescribe me the cream, however the HV and the dr said that you should put the cream on after you finished a feed so you get about 3 hours for it to be absorbed and no need to wash it off. I was prescribed canesten 1% clotrimazole for use on infections such as fungal nappy rash according to the tube. The daktarin is meant to be better than the drops for baby, but should not be used on babies under 4 months old (perhaps due to risk of choking?) but there are drops you can use instead, hopefully a pharmacist should be able to help. Incidentally when the dr prescribed me the cream he questioned the existence of this kind of thrush at all, but gave in - perhaps ask to see a different dr or for a phone consultation if your practice offers those?

seven hopefully your friend is just going to delay having the second rather missing out on having a second baby completely!
