aethel pregnancy/childbirth is just so the farthest possible from glam, isn't it?

mopsytop · 09/01/2012 08:04

I only managed 4.5 hrs sleep again - this is not enough, ESP 2 days in a row. She grizzles from 8 to midnight around a feed, then feeds again, then settles & I get 2 hours sleep, wakes up again to feed and I getvanother 2 hrs and then wakes again. Maybe I'll get another 2 hrs after this feed if I'm lucky. I can seem to cope so much better on three lots of two hours than only two. The extra two hours seems to make a massive difference. At least my husband managed to get a full night, which is worth it, as hexwas exhausted. To be fair he had her until 11 or so and I went to bed at half eight to try and get some sleep but I just couldn't sleep in spite of being totally exhausted (or maybe because of that?) so if I'd managed then I'd prob feel ok now.

Sorry for the me me me post! I am sure there are some of you thinking I am luck to be getting 4 hours and should count my blessings!!!!

DarcieandSkysmum · 09/01/2012 08:14

Will catch up in a bit. Darcie is driving me insane! She has a cold & is having tantrums left, right & centre - roll on 8:45!

MissRee · 09/01/2012 08:49

Morning everyone Grin still here on day 9 overdue... feeling incredibly achy this morning though, right down low in my bump with shooting pains into my botty Blush haven't got out of bed yet so that will probably disappear when I do Sad

Induction on Wednesday is stressing me out. I really wanted to be able to go to MWLU if it's available but won't be able to if I have to be induced Sad

mopsytop · 09/01/2012 09:10

Hope it kicks off today MissRee-sounds promising!

DarcieandSkysmum · 09/01/2012 09:26

MissRee Hope it kicks off for you before WedsSmile

aethelfleda · 09/01/2012 10:35

Oh yes, I remember the really-achey-in-bed-all-night-but-then-settles -in -morning thing misree, I had that tons in the last fee weeks. Hope it's a positive getting-there sort of ache!!

I have acquired a new goal for the morning: attempting to defuzz my legs while Albert os dozing. Did make it to school OK with DS in the moby wrap, but realised on way home I was wearing my manky pregnancy crop leggings and my legs were all fuzzy. Not the best look....

OiMissus · 09/01/2012 11:04

Fuzzy legs can't be seen until up close, you'll be fine, aethel.
I'm beginning to feel like I'm getting my body back. The cs wound is almost healed, the area above it still feels tender, but largely ok. I can wear some of my larger jeans with higher waists, and some of my normal tops fit (stretch) ok over my large boobs. I weigh slightly less than pre-pregnancy, even though my tummy is not yet flat and my boobs are huge. So one month in, I'm getting there! Grin
I may even risk panty liners instead of big pads.
It's a shame that pads are needed upstairs (leaky breasts) and downstairs, otherwise I may have even ventured to say that I could feel sexy again.
Am planning a trip - in the car! - to the supermarket. Insurance says it's ok if MW days it's ok. I feel ok, and we're 4 + wks after cs. And it's an automatic.
Sexy and independent. Get me! Wink

DeckTheHawthersWithBells · 09/01/2012 11:36

In very exciting news we are being discharged!

Thinking of lmf this morning. Hope you and octoboy are doing well today. Please come back and vent if needed.

aethelfleda · 09/01/2012 11:44

Hooray hawthers, what a relief!

DH and my dad have pootled off to look at a Ford Galaxy for us. Not sure if it will be suitable but cars don't buy themselves and am grateful I don't have to do it!!!

AnAirOfHope · 09/01/2012 11:45

Goodmorning everyone

Well i was up till 3am and then again at 7am and then again at 10.30am and Hope has just stoped feeding and gone to sleep in her mosses basket. Yay

She is doing alot better today with lots of wet nappies but she had runny poo yeasterday so not too great.

On the other hand Aaron is playing up good style. He is crying and having loads of tantrums. He will just not listen to us and is all over the baby when she is feeding or having a cuddle. Jumping on the sofa and throwing things and just playing up. He is ill too and his routine is out and he is sleeping in afternoon then going to sleep at 10pm and up at 8am but he is still tired and ill!

DH has got the week off work but that now onbly leave 9 days holiday for the rest of the year Sad

Also the SW turned up today but DH managed to put her off untill tomor which meants i have to tidy, clean the house and do the dishs and take rubbish to the tip, clean the guine pigs out all before tomoro. I may just emagrate to rio for a rest Grin She is ment to be helping us - this is so not helping. They just dont believe me when i say i dont have PND and want me to see the MH nurse to get a cert to say i'm sane! the world realy has gone mad!

Air Darcies playing up too so your not alone. It's also alot of cleaning in 24hrs!

HV came this morning. Sky weighed 7lbs 15oz, so has put on 7oz in 4 days Grin

Wedding stuff is back on priority now Smile so excited hehe

bennybenbear · 09/01/2012 13:46

Great news hawthers! loving the positivity on here from lots of you, hoping the vibes and good news rub off on others not having such a great time at the moment.

We've ventured out for a shopping trip with Nanny and Grandad and had a baby massage demo at home this morning so good day so far.

Figgygal · 09/01/2012 14:25

Dan and I have also ventured out today walked to the local shopping centre and supermarket he slept the whole time and is still dozing in his pram now, have had time to do the dishes and eat lunch (amazing Grin. Tomorrow BF group here we come!!

My pregnancy sweet tooth is back am trying to ignore it as I think my weight loss has finally bottomed out and now have a stone to shift on my own but god it's hard. Yoghurts and fruit shall be my arsenal against it, once the Jaffa cakes in the fridge are gone Grin

AWomanCalledHorse · 09/01/2012 14:38

Hooray hawthers!!

Went to Bluewater with DH & DS today, finally cried in the car (dammit! Was getting used to him being sparko when we were out) John Lewis & Pumpkin Patch have some amazing baby bargains atm; age 1 winter coats reduced from £40(!) to £10 etc, John Lewis have lots at half price.

benny, did LO enjoy baby massage? Do you think it's something you'll deffo do from now on?

Air, that's rubbish about DH's annual leave left! Mine has only 4 days left (and a few hours) so really fretting about what if this/that goes wrong!

Lost another 4lbs! Only 18(!) to go. Grin

MissRee · 09/01/2012 14:53

Ooh horse are you in Kent? I'm just down the road from bluewater Grin

msbuggywinkle · 09/01/2012 15:22

hawthers fantastic news! Enjoy having him back home.

air and darcies DD2 is joining in...the clothes refusing is driving me mad and she is a big strong creature so I can't actually make her get dressed. We're going to try getting her dressed before DP leaves for work tomorrow.

awch yes, the John Lewis sale has been great for me too...with having the three girls I love how well their clothes wash and last. I have JL stuff that has done all three and is still looking great to pass on!

OiMissus · 09/01/2012 16:29

Great news hawthers!
this thread is positive today ( apart from the usual sleep deprivation and interfering SWs!)
I conquered tesco! I drove. I did a big shop. I got everything on the list apart from Martini. (it's now over £10 a bottle. Ridiculous. Will have to find out where it's on offer.)
Bumped into my bodypump instructor who was trying to talk me into going back. The advice after a cs is "not before 12 wks". She said, come back at 8 wks. Although she kept telling me how great I look, so maybe I'll just breastfeed forever and never exercise again. Smile

bennybenbear · 09/01/2012 16:38

AWCH baby massage was lovely. It's very simple so you could pick up tips online or from a book but I'm going to go to a class to just to be sociable I think. The lady taught me some v cute rhymes to do at the same time too! They recommend grapeseed oil now rather than olive oil.

aethelfleda · 09/01/2012 16:57

oi, body pump is pretty hard core: you don't want to pill something and delay being able to exercise properly. Tell your instructor that it's not her pelvic floor and unless she'd like to privately fund your incontinence/prolapse repair it would be better for you to wait the recommended healing time....

benny, glad you liked the baby massage: I tried it once with DD1 and she screamed the place down the whole session!! So I kind of gave up...

Hope all the poorly babes are recovering and there's still a little tiny pair of pompoms going for missree .....

aethelfleda · 09/01/2012 16:58

Which reminds me: everybody

jigglebum · 09/01/2012 17:15

afternoon. sorry to hear about the poorly babies - hope they are all home soon.

we are surviving ok here - although sleep is obviously still an issue - she does not settle well in her moses basket and is soooo noisy- grunting etc. as with many of you ds is harder work in many ways. this week we are back to normal routine with dh at work all week, no gps around and preschool etc and i think this will help. we have had quite a good and productive day today - taken ds to messy play, fitted a buggy board to the buggy and ventured into town to the library and hair cut for ds (made possible by aforementioned buggy board which meant I could control ds as dont have a double buggy). hope everyone has some sleep tonight!

OiMissus · 09/01/2012 17:24

They don't half grunt and squeak, these babies! Some noises are downright bizarre.
aethel I have no intention of pushing things too hard and going back too early/ever.

BeeMyBaby · 09/01/2012 17:46

as DH is away on holiday I have the bed to myself so DD2 is not going anywhere near her moses basket and is my little bedbug - which is good because the cat and dog have been taking turns in the moses basket instead.

also wanted to say oi a while back you mentioned the cuddledry towel, which I initially thought was a silly idea to be honest, but then I thought about it alot and ended up buying two as presents for SILs newborn, my mother saw them and liked them so much that she then bought me two (and I love them!) and we have also purchased the toddler towel. I've also just bought the cheaper clevamama version as a present for someone at work (because although amazing, £30 is too much to spend on a non-family member). So basically, thanks, great product and really glad you mentioned it otherwise I'd never have known.
