LMF I just can't imagine how stressed and worried you must be right now, it must be so hard for you. I wish I could be of some practical help but as I can't just to say I am thinking of you, I hope everything goes ok, at least baba is in the best place right now to be well taken care of. I hope you get some support. X

MissRee · 08/01/2012 19:46

Thinking of you and your poorly boy LMF Sad I really do hope he gets better real soon x

DeckTheHawthersWithBells · 08/01/2012 19:51

Hey lmf will be right here with you over night as we are still on the ward so you we not alone. They are just taking extra precautions i'm sure by transferring him into the nicu and putting a line in. Some epxtra fluids can do wonders. re coping - you don't need to cope - I find crying A LOT helps. Don't bother faking its fine - a complete waste if your energy.

aethelfleda · 08/01/2012 20:45

Oh no LMF, so sorry to hear he's needing extra support- but glad he is getting it, and hope he will be responding v soon. Post here whatever, whenever, and no need for anything other than honesty. We're about and here to listen. I'll be on here overnight when I get woken (which is still often!)
((((hug))))

Hope you're doing OK, missree...

MissRee · 08/01/2012 21:10

All quiet here still Aethel... sulking that even Beyonce beat me. Gonna go bounce on my ball Sad

bennybenbear · 08/01/2012 21:17

Thinking of you LMF and hawthers hoping you and your little ones have a good night x

OiMissus · 08/01/2012 22:05

Tough night here. LO has not really slept today. Early evening he would not stop feeding - just screamed and wailed when taken off. Then he projectile vomited loads. Poor thing.
Settled him down a little, but then he wanted to feed again. Didn't know what to do, so I fed him till he slept.
He seems settled now.
When I changed his sicky clothes, I notice his skin was blotchy/mottled.
Should I be worried?
His temp was 36.9.

OiMissus · 08/01/2012 22:15

lmf sorry to hear your LO is poorly. He's definitely in the best place and getting the best care. Hope he's soon fighting fit again.
My LO is still asleep, thank goodness. -longest he's slept all day. Hopefully this will see him right.
I may have to stay awake watching him though. Sad

AnAirOfHope · 08/01/2012 22:16

I would call the doctor just to check him over or take him into the walk in centre if you have one.

Are you ff or bf? Projectile vomiting is a sign of allergy, could he be allergic to the milk?

AnAirOfHope · 08/01/2012 22:25

LMF i hope he is better soon xx
Finley and Babybel get better soon xx

Hope has been feeding all night and all day her temp is normal and less of a snotty noise so i guess she is getting a bit better but its still hard and worrying. I just want DH to get the week off work to help look after the children as i'm spending so much time with Hope that i feel like i'm letting Air down by not spending much time with him. How do other people with more than one child cope when they are sick?

On a posative note i think Hope has started to smile.

LittleMissFlustered · 08/01/2012 22:32

Thanks everyone. He's had a platelet transfusion. Will explain more tomorrow but my battery is dying.

Your support ha been ace. I hope you all have calm nights, especially Hawthers in hospital too.

Going home to express and do laundry now. Missing my children, all three of them :(

As he's settled, I'll see how he is in the morning and perhaps get a dr appt then. I'm less worried now, but it was awful earlier. I'm bf-ing, I've not eaten anything different today - that I haven't eaten before. He had fed for over two hours, so that caused the vomiting, I guess. But why did he need to feed that much? some of it may have just been nursing -but the same question applies, what is he upset about? - it's such a worry when you don't know how to help.
Hope everyone has a good night. X

mopsytop · 08/01/2012 23:14

Hope all stays ok Oi, sorry have no advice. Hope your babas okay to hawthers and LMF.

I am beginning to feel quite ill as though I might be getting vomity, I hope this is not the case - how can I avoid her catching it if I do get a bug? Am washing my hands all the time. Only had 4 hours sleep in past 24 hours (not in a row, either) and am really tired, but she won't settle. Hope I at least get some sleep tonight or am afraid will drop her when feeding as might nod off, but husband has had hardly any sleep either and is working tomorrow so I think he needs to sleep more than me. If I get to the stage where I really think I will drop off with her will have to wake him.

DeckTheHawthersWithBells · 08/01/2012 23:46

Having a bit of a rubbish one too. F is back on a tiny amount of oxygen and the monitor he is on keeps waking us up. I've sworn very loudly at it several times, not the most appropriate on a paeds ward. His nasal cannula supplying the o2 keeps coming out and pudding him off and he doesn't want to settle at all. We finally were both asleep earlier and they had to come in and do obs including taking his blood pressure which woke him up. Livid and crying not the best advert for motherhood. Had so little sleep over the last 4 nights I'm just exhausted and not doing a good job in calming f down and getting him to sleep. I feel I still don't know my baby yet to know what he likes and how to calm him.

On the plus side we've had a good amount of wet and pooey nappies so I think he is feeding enough.

I've just had enough and want to go home.

BeeMyBaby · 08/01/2012 23:53

mopsy as you are still combination feeding I think that will help her avoid getting your bug, or will at least help with giving her the antibodies to fight it. I remember with DD1 I got a D&V bug which was going round and it lasted two weeks (miracle weight loss!) when she was 6 weeks old and she never got it at all. Also when DH got chickenpox when she was 10 weeks we didn't bother separating at all and again, she didn't catch it, probably from the antibodies she was getting from BFing.

MissRee Have you gone quiet and into labour?

My thoughts are with you and your Lo's LMF and Hawthers

LittleMissFlustered · 09/01/2012 00:09

Hawthers

I'm at home tonight. The nicu team have loaned me an electric pump so I've just drained myself and I'm away to bed while I can.

Mopsy and Oi I hope you're feeling better soon, and Air heres to Hope improving soon too.

Sorry if I have missed anybody. I am literally running on empty.

Night folks:)

Hope you get some sleep now LMF. that will be very helpful if you can. Lack of sleep exacerbates everything. And you too hawthers. really send my sympathies to you both. I'm finding the lack of sleep tough enough and minimopsy has so far been healthy, cannot imagine what you ladies are going through but my thoughts are with you.

Bee, I hope minimopsy is getting enough ebm to give her enough antibodies. She went on breast for half an hour there and defs got some bm at least as there was some dribbling out of her little mouth!! But perhaps not much. But I guess every little helps!

aethelfleda · 09/01/2012 00:55

Hi guys, just checking in after a night feed wossname.

Lots of thoughts to those of you with poorly LOs, glad to hear that Octoboy is stable LMF and hope you get a few hours rest and remember to eat something! hawthers, sorry you are Having hassle with machines that go "ping" and hopefully F will get off that last tiny bit of oxygen very soon and you'll be able to step down off the obs. He really does
Sound lkle he's doing well.

Good luvk mopsy, I hope the pukey bug doesnt materialise. oi babies often go funny colours when they are sick- sometimes they just overfeed and them j e a gag reflex that covered everyone in a six foot radius. The ley thing is of baby does it once, it's not going to be serious. Repeated hose vomits do need checking. So if babyoi is settled i thimk you'll be OL butnif anything worries you ring the outnof hours docs for some
Advice.

air, its tough with two to split yourself: I just trh to ale each day as itcomes and try to give the well one little bits of time and attention as I can in between lookinng after thenpoorly
One.I also let things slide that can eg housework, appointments,to-do-list stuff, and only do the stuff that to be done to give a bit of extra time in the day.

Little tiny for misree. Night!

aethelfleda · 09/01/2012 00:57

Sorry for awful spelling, phone cr*p!

mopsytop · 09/01/2012 01:00

It's so nice to come on here and see I'm not the only one up feeding. It makes it easier somehow knowing we are a little band of sleep deprived mums together!

AWomanCalledHorse · 09/01/2012 01:51

Thoughts & prayers with you both LMF & Hawthers, hpe everyone gets home soon.

Oi, hope LO is just being a fusspot.

DS has finally settled in moses basket, after 11 hours of needing to be held!
I managed to iron ONE shirt (of the pile of 18 waiting to be ironed)...who says it's hard to look after a baby & the house?! Wink

OiMissus · 09/01/2012 04:33

hawthers you poor thing, hope you and LO get more sleep and get stronger soon. lmf it must be really tough to be separated, but take advantage and get as much sleep and rest as possible.
Hugs to all others having problems. Positive sleep vibes to all!
Thanks for the reassurance. Smile
Well Ali slept thru from 10pm til 4am, and just had a 15 min feed. Now asleep again! His nappy was practically empty (so unlike him!), so I'll keep an eye on that. He obviously needed the sleep, and will probably be back to non-stop feeding tomorrow.

DeckTheHawthersWithBells · 09/01/2012 04:47

Lovely nurse saved the day and whipped him off o2 and offered to sit with f so I could get some sleep. F must have realised that it was no longer a good idea to keep his mummy up and finally settled and went to sleep. That was at 1 ish and i've just woken up. Bizarre to be so happy to have 3 hours sleep in a row.

Of course now I'm thinking its nearly been too long between feeds.... You can't please some people....

lmf how are thisep pom poms doing. Hope they are a bit more fluffed up after some sleep although I know it is so tough to leave octoboy. would recommend getting the nicu's tel no so you can call for an update on how he is doing when you are not there. I used to call to check in with ds1 after I had expressed in the night.

aethelfleda · 09/01/2012 07:15

Morning, I hope people all had a few hours rest here or there...
Am feeding up DS in the hope I can luck out the timing to walk the DDs to school with a full/clean/asleep baby...

The midwife is coming to weigh baby later, I'm rather sore down below:( so meed it checking. ( it hurts loads just in one point. I don't think its infected but I'm worried theres some granulation tissue ( where it doeesnt heal properly) and hope she can reassire me (or treat it with a silver nitrite stick if she thinks there is. Oh, the glamour.

msbuggywinkle · 09/01/2012 07:43

Morning everyone!

I reeally hope all of these ill babies stop bring such a worry soon. hawthers great that you got some sleep and good news on the bfing too! lmf I hope you get some good sleep tonight and fab that you have a hospital pump, they are definitley the best.

I'm attempting to take the tribe to the museum today...if I can persuade DD2 that clothes are a good idea of course!
