Snap re high protein - going to do a special anti-nausea food shop later today. Need far more snacky things in that I can nibble on.

Oh and am sick of waiting now - fecking well hurry up 12weeks!

cakeandcava · 28/08/2012 11:14

Milestones are exciting! Even if small... When do you all have appointments/scans lined up for?

Glad you're managing to control the vomming faife, I probably should have been better at that -was mostly too tired and spaced out to contemplate anything more strenuous than opening a packet of pringles Blush

How did the anniversary party go blonde?

HaveALittleFaith · 28/08/2012 11:22

I have my first ante-natal appointment Thursday. But nervous about what she'll say about my weight but she was midwife of the year for our area Di hopefully she'll be nice! I believe I'm 5+4 today. Did an IC yesterday to reassure myself since the decrease in sickness. The test lime was thicker and darker than the control! Reassured indeed :)

Yes blondie how was the party?

CamelKnees · 28/08/2012 11:23

First baby related appointment now officially made. Booking in on 18th Sept when I'll be 9+1. These next 3 weeks will drag but at least by the time I get to 9 weeks the scan will be on the horizon.

Right - off to buy anti-vomming supplies!

HaveALittleFaith · 28/08/2012 14:38

Good work knockknees. Now we just need to sit tight. Time is dragging.....must do some work!!!

FriendofDorothy · 28/08/2012 16:08

Afternoon all. After 4 days of mud-to-my-knees (and yes I had fabulous Hunter wellies!) I a now sitting on a bed (oh yes!) in a lovely B&B in Bath. We have a couple of days here before getting the boat home on Thursday.

I am knackered but had a good time. The only nightmare was my hips and back have been quite sore. The Mister has been so lovely in making sure I am ok and looking after me over the weekend. :)

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 28/08/2012 20:04

I had my first taste of being sick today. Not keen for that to stay. It was only a tiny taste (but it happened during a work lunch).

But tonight I have been fine, exercised, some food, some MN :)

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 28/08/2012 20:05

PS I have an early scan in 2 weeks!! But that is what you get by being assisted...

HaveALittleFaith · 28/08/2012 21:26

Lucky for the early scan!

How does something so small have such a massive effect on your body?! I'm soooooo tired. But I have my new mattress. It's lush. It's so firm. MSB doesn't like it Confused but I think I'll sleep like a top for the first time in months!

cakeandcava · 29/08/2012 08:32

Super impressed with festivaling Dot. I have a pair of Hunter wellies too -they haven't fitted since I was about 20 weeks due to swollen legs. In a fit of rage a while back when we had that crazy rain and all my shoes were soaking, I got the scissors out and cut a long slit down each of them Blush So they fit again now, but look a bit strange...

Great news about scan lemon! Not so great about being sick, but then it is a good sign :) The first weeks are a nightmare for dragging. Not much to do except plod through. It feels like it speeds up a bit after 14 weeks.

Hope you slept well faith!

FriendofDorothy · 29/08/2012 15:58

I have 3/4 length Hunter wellies. I have fat leg so the tall ones don't fit!

HaveALittleFaith · 29/08/2012 17:49

I have primarni wellies. They are not watertight! I decided to treat myself to new ones from Brantano but they didn't go over my cankles. They did short ones but they were £20!!! Shock

LauraPalmer · 29/08/2012 20:04

I love my tall Hunter wellies.

Hello laydees - how is everyone today? I've got a few days that I need to catch up on...

Yesterday I had my first experience of someone without prompting offering me a seat on the train...and this afternoon I received my mail order doppler. Blush

(and it works!) Grin

HaveALittleFaith · 29/08/2012 20:27

Does that mean you can listen to the heartbeat whenever you fancy it?

I'm just watching the Paralympic coverage and crying my eyes out

FriendofDorothy · 29/08/2012 21:14

I am fine. Suddenly looking fucking enormous though!

HaveALittleFaith · 29/08/2012 22:20

I have to say from the pics on t'other place, you are looking....blooming marvellous dor!

I'm shattered. Managed to cook MSB birthday tea - mm steak ('cept I like it medium and of course now it must be cremated!) and clear up but couldn't do much more!

FriendofDorothy · 29/08/2012 22:25

thanks faith. Think I just feel enormous and knackered today.

I used to eat my steak medium-rare, I know eat it medium. I refuse to obsess about stupid food rules.

LauraPalmer · 29/08/2012 23:16

Yay to looking good while feeling enormous! Sounds like the festival was great Dor - glad you had some fun.

Yes, Faife that is exactly what it means...I've already listened to Grublet's heartbeat 3 times today Blush (It's pretty amazing.)

Congrats on the early scanage Lemonesque!

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 30/08/2012 08:30

Grin at welly chat. I have no wellies any longer. Maybe I can invest in some this winter (with money saved on no booze and no fertility treatments).

I just cannot believed I am diffed. Really, nothing is different (except peeing in the night and the scariest nipples in living memory). How am I suppose to get my head around this? Only a week and a half til the scan...

PS no symtoms is not a problem if you haven't really had any, right

cakeandcava · 30/08/2012 08:49

No symptoms doesn't have to mean anything -and scary nipples are a big symptom anyway. My friend (anecdote alert!) had the most symptom-free straight-forward pregnancy in history last year. I think she felt cheated almost. Then she had a pretty rough birth experience to make up for it

I'm off to a council information event thingy about using cloth nappies. I think it was faithy that mentioned them above -if you're thinking of using them, check if your council does specific schemes or projects (they're keen to reduce landfill) -I can get a starter pack with lots of different brands for about a tenth of the real price via this scheme.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 30/08/2012 08:59

Thanks cake. I just need a bit of reassurance. It is okay to feel fine (in fact, it is very handy, since I started a new job the day after the IUI that lead to this weirdness). And I tell myself that nipples and peeing are symptoms. But when I read faif and camel I feel very different!

Nappies are a few steps too far to contemplate. We are not reconsidering housing (we live in a small 1-bedroom flat), childcare, or anything else serious until after the first scan. Nappies really are many steps beyond the stage we're at, but the tip has been noted for future reference.

lalala fingers in ears re: birth experience

LauraPalmer · 30/08/2012 09:15

You may develop some more of the horrid symptoms later Lems. My ms didn't properly kick in until weeks 9-11 (& then was fairly short-lived compared to some).

I'm too lazy nervous to use cloth diapers. It would be interesting to learn the approx. cost savings. Anyone know?

CamelKnees · 30/08/2012 12:11

Lemms don't be worried re no symptoms. I've got a few RL friends who have been lucky enough to be like that. Sorry if my moaning has made you feel worried - will tone down drama queen exclamations! A week and a half is no time til the scan - am v jealous!

blonderthanred · 30/08/2012 12:13

Hello all, I'm still here.

Party went really well thank you, once I relaxed. Lots of kiddies running round in the afternoon and then lots of adults drinking wine in the evening. Chucked the last few out at midnight which I thought was pretty good going for a 30-wk-pg woman who had been up since the crack of dawn.

Shattered the whole of Monday and then TBI had booked theatre tickets for the evening so we dragged ourselves out, glad we did as it was really good.

Bloods have been ok apart from a high-ish one after breakfast today, I see the nurse this aft so hopefully they will be happy with them.

I really want to use cloth nappies but have bought some disposables for the first few weeks as I don't want to make my life unnecessarily difficult (also can't resist a free gift). Hopefully my resolve won't go! Is it just me who hates all the cutesy twee names surrounding the nappy issue? I can't even bring myself to use the popular term, never mind all the brand names. If we do I think we are going to use Pop-Ins, as we tried them out at the Baby Show. Sadly my Council offers no help.

cakeandcava · 30/08/2012 14:22

The nappy event was pretty good actually -quite determined to use cloth now. They did say that disposables are better in the first few weeks anyway blonde, as the meconium will just ruin a nappy anyway, and as cloth is slightly higher-waisted, they can be uncomfortable for the baby until the umbilical cord stump has fallen off. And agree that the twee names are rage inducing. Having said that, I'll probably go with TotsBots Blush

Laura ethical consumer did a study of cloth nappies a while back. Link is here -it's pretty involved though. The conclusion seems to be that "Over the two and a half years a baby will be in nappies, the average cost of disposables would therefore be £1,021, and reusables £342.85."

Lemons there is still plenty of time for you to start the queasiness -I got going around 6 weeks...
