goingmadtrying · 21/02/2012 20:54

evening ladies Grin

sorry your dd not feeling well rednellie my ds1 had that a couple of years ago but only got it in his mouth, he was so ill didn't eat or drink for at least 5 days, his tongue was covered in bright red huggeee blisters, felt so sorry for him :(

glad you got out today dream doesn't sound like your having a great time of it at the minute sending you big hugs :)

my lovely mum paid for a gender scan for me today, due to my constant worry that everything would be ok, I've had the bestest news ever and found out that i am expecting identical twin girls!!!!! Grin i am shocked and excited all at the same time, i never thought id be lucky enough to get one pink one but two!!!! feels like winning the lottery, i am so pleased they were so.close to each other and got some lovely 4d pics will try and load them so you can all have a look Grin just need to hold on to them. was gratefully signed off for another week back to work on Monday then planning to finish 30th April, which equates to approx 30ish days left!!!! such a good good day Grin

DreamingOfPeace · 21/02/2012 22:24

oh fantastic news goingmad! lovely, lovely lovely. Can't wait to see your pics Grin. Girls are fabulous if a little bossy What a star your mum is! Of course you'll hold onto them, especially as out of the early danger zone and they're looking so good so far Smile

Off to bed for me xx

rednellie · 22/02/2012 00:21

goingmad, congratulations on your scan. I'm so happy you're happy - you've had a rough few days by the sound of it so it's great to get such fantastic news. Only 30 days left eh? They'll whizz past.

I'm starting to doubt DD's got foot and mouth - she's not been that poorly, and the spots are round her mouth and on her bottom. She's never does get that ill, but it sounds so mild compared with what you guys are describing...but then I can't match the rash up with anything else and she's had the varicella vaccine...ummmm. I, though, am definitely in full blown cold mode - and my Mum's got it too! So we're taking it in turns to entertain DD. Oh the irony.

dreaming - as long as you got a reasonable haircut and they didn't end up making you look like an 80 year old I reckon you're ok. Wink

goingmadtrying · 22/02/2012 06:27

thanks ladies still on cloud nine for me what a difference a day makes I've had such a boost :)

lol at dream having at dream having an 80's hairstyle!!!? im hoping you had a nice trim and a lovely wash were they with the times for a scalp massage? ;)

when i say 30ish days i obviously mean working days! lol i only work 4 days a week and still have a few spare days holiday in between, but do think it'll fly by :)

hope your feeling a little better rednellie and mum too :)

have a good day everyone

(((waves)))) to all lurking twin mummies bigboobs bb3 and everyone else Grin

BB3 · 22/02/2012 06:32

Yaaaaay goingmad! I'm so pleased for you! That's such fantastic news! Yay!!! GrinGrinGrin

BB3 · 22/02/2012 06:33

Goingmad have you thought of names? How was dh at the thought of having twin girls?

goingmadtrying · 22/02/2012 06:57

thanks bb3 he was unfortunately unable to come to the scan as it was last minute but i sent him a picture and a text straight after, he called me straight away and said he was dreading having 3 of me!!!(im not beimg so nice in this pg) my dh doesn't really show.his feelings but within 10 mins id had text messages from his sisters saying well done and he'd rung 2 of his closest friends, one of whish told.me he'd said he was thrilled.and more thrilled.for me :) his mum only has grandsons at the minute 6 of them!!! so she is super pleased :)

goingmadtrying · 22/02/2012 07:00

no names as yet as i genuinely believed i would not be lucky enough to get girls Shock i feel very blessed as i was lucky enough to get twins which is special, and then to top it off identical girls Grin

BB3 · 22/02/2012 07:03

When dh came to the hospital (he missed birth as was away working so got there about 30 minutes after the girls were born) and saw two girls he looked petrified and thrilled all at the same time! It's so nice for you, dh and your family - they'll go crazy with pink in excitement!!!

goingmadtrying · 22/02/2012 07:09

the boys are so pleased ds2 had said all along they are girls and i took him with me yesterday, he was being a little monkey and wouldn't sit still! but he picked up a childs stool which was pink and then pink bricks!!! this was all before she'd looked! he then told ds1 when we fetched him from school.and said he'd seen the babies and said they are girls, ds1 punched his fist in the air and shouted yes!!!! i do think they will change their minds when their here lol

goingmadtrying · 22/02/2012 07:46

Pics uploaded, sorry I couldn't rotate them. Hope you think there as cool as I do :)

BB3 · 22/02/2012 08:52

Oh I want more babies x Love the pics xxx

BB3 · 22/02/2012 08:52

Oh and bless your ds' Grin

bigboobsatlast · 22/02/2012 09:09

woo hoo Goingmad! Thats the best news. You will be having girls for the first time and I am having boys for the first time! Girls are brilliant, it will be ace! I wanted boys as I already have a DD so we are both very lucky. Although it still feels weird that I will be having BOYS! I changed a friends DS nappy when I was visiting this week and it was so strange! I guess I will get used to the difference pretty quickly though!

I had a look at your photos and they are amazing.

Oh Rednellie, what a load of pants! Feeling rubbish is not good when pregnant and looking after others - and your poor Mum! At least she is there to help and keep you company. I am afraid I have no idea what that could be - DD has never had hand and mouth (is that what it is called?).

How are you bearing up Dream? How is DD? It is so hard isn't it? Have you got any one helping out this week to give you a break and a chance to have some rest? Are your three any better BB3? Lets hope all these viruses andf germs bugger off now it is starting to get a little milder - roll on the spring!

I had a MW appt yesterday and all is good. Measuring 34 weeks (I am 27). Still feeling well which I know I should feel lucky about! Had a quick chat with MW about birth options and she said there is no reason why I can't go for VB. So I am seriously considering this now and will talk to Dr about it next week. Twin 1 is head down (2 is breach) so at the moment at least they are in the right positions! It has just come a bit out of the blue as it really was not presented as an option at the beginning. I want a natural birth as recovery so much quicker, but want to minimise all risks so I am not really sure where that leaves me. I had to be cut with DD and that is on my mind - more likely to be cut again? Is this a problem?

Either way I will be induced at 36 weeks unless I insist on going longer.... and even if VB I will still definitely have to had an epidural and will deliver in theater (so if there is any problems they can whip one or both out any which way they need to!). So Dream, I am joining you in the dilemma about birth plan.

What really got me thinking was that MW said over half of ID twins are born BEFORE 36 weeks - and she asked how prepared I was! Errrr.... NOT PREPARED AT ALL!! So bought some tiny nappies yesterday and plan on getting things a bit more worted this week and next - and after appt with Dr next week try and agree some sort of birth plan with DH.

Even if I make it to 36 weeks, I have only got 9 weeks to go! Doesn't sound that far away any more..... at least I am on mat'leave now. This is day one of having time to myself as DD at nursery. I am having my hair cut too Dream! I sincerely hope it does not turn in to a Thatcher-style hair do!! Just a trim will do me!

BBS and Claire - can I ask where your babies sleep? In a cot together? or seperate moses baskets? What are others thinking of doing? Time I started making some decisions and preparing I think!

:-) to other mummys, Teds, Lilyini.... sorry if I have missed anyone.

BB3 · 22/02/2012 09:26

Bigboobs, the girls have separate Moses baskets. I intend to put them in ds' old cotbed together soon but I'm not sure and may have to rethink and buy 2xsmaller cots as they tend to mess around if put in together. Trying a cot divider first. A lady I know had I'd twin boys at 33 weeks x

rednellie · 22/02/2012 11:12

Great pics goingmad. what a joy. And I bet your boys will love them. I'm the youngest of 4, 3 brothers and then me, and they've all been wonderful to me so there is hope!

How's sleep going for everyone? I'm up at 3am so feeling a bit peeved. Seem to always have to get up after tossing and turning for hours.

Also - those who are later on/have had their babies: any advice re: incredibly itchy skin on my stomach? It's actually driving me potty. I didn't have a stretch mark at all until about 2 weeks ago and now my skin looks like its breaking apart. And it feels that way too! Sorry, graphic I know, but it's driving me bananas...Any tips appreciated.

bigboobsatlast · 22/02/2012 11:25

Thanks BB3 - I had just assumed they would want to be / be more settled together - but may be not it seems! I was planning on putting them both in a cot together in the room with us - but then I remembered how tiny DD looked even in her moses basket and I thought going in to a cot might be a bit overwhelming / not cosy enough. I have one moses basket and have been offered another so perhaps I will have that and see what happens....!

Itchy skin is horrd Rednellie - I have the same on my tummy but not too bad at the mo - and no stretch marks yet!!! But I am sure they will come. Does rubbing in lovely thick moisturiser help if you keep the mooisturiser in the fridge? I dont have any other ideas I am afraid

BB3 · 22/02/2012 12:59

Rednellie - cold compresses were the only thing that worked for me or cool baths. If it gets really bad you can get some itch relief bath soak stuff (you can't use normal lotions) prescribed from the dr.

Goingmad - my girls were big for twins 5'11 1/2 and 6'1 and they were teeny tiny in their moses baskets but I do think that if they were together from the start they might not know any better. In actual fact the girls aren't that keen on being 'together' too much - unless it's on their terms - they love baths together and playing on the floor but hate being held at the same time xx

DreamingOfPeace · 22/02/2012 14:35

Must be quick, need to get slow cooker on while DD naps...

I am going for cotbed in our room and in it together. My DD hated her moses basket, it was a pain, and every time she startled she woke herself up. We do have one. I won't buy another/borrow another unless the cot bed doesn't work, but my DD who was 7lb 5 1/2 at birth loved her cot from first time in at about 9 weeks old. She looked tiny but that clearly didn't bother her!

I would have loved boy/girl twins but am still totally happy with my boys.

Your pictures are amazing goingmad, just amazing!

DD is a little better- still moping and clingy, her eyes still aren't great and we're all still coughing but hopefully on the mend- she actually slept all night! However, I have definitely joined you rednellie. I can't sleep. I can't get comfy. My rib pain rules out most positions. Gaviscon has bloody well stopped working for the reflux- for more than 10 min anyway, and my bump also itches like hell! I am doing a combination of bio-oil and moisturiser and getting into v loose (err, but getting tighter!) t-shirts as soon as DD in bed and I get a chance to get changed. I like bb3s suggestions though.

bb3, if I get to 38 weeks (well, 37+6, my CS date) I reckon I'm on for 2 6lb + baby elephants! Another growth scan tomorrow, we'll see but I'm expecting them to both be well over 4lb. Fingers crossed they are anyway! bigboobs, I keep going round and round it in my head- Epidural+ monitoring and being on the bed, plus synto up after twin 1 born just seems to shout 'another tear' to me... I am a wuss though. I think I will go for it naturally if I go into labour before 36 weeks (as I'm sure I won't) but after that I might just request a CS if I go into labour between 36 and 37+6. I know some places are happier to let you labour without epidural, but I'd rather have another tear than delay a stuck baby getting out or EMCS so I'd go for the full works if advised too.

I thought half of all twins were born before 37 weeks, and a bigger proportion before then if ID so I bet they're right bigboobs. I have some stuff in now, like mat pads, but not got a bag packed for me or boys yet...

Rubbish, not such a wuick post, must get my idle behind into the kitchen and cook something!!!

claireinmodena · 22/02/2012 14:43

Hello

I have added you to my mates list adn you should be able to see photos of the twins! will come back later but now they need feeding!

ciao for now

BB3 · 22/02/2012 15:52

Oh Claire, I can't click on you - are you public?

DreamingOfPeace · 22/02/2012 16:17

I can't click either- doh! dying to see them claire

goingmadtrying · 22/02/2012 16:40

no i can't see them either :(

I've spent wasted the afternoon googling the reliability of gender scans (i know i love beating myself up over something) and am now worried they may have it wrong!!!! she spent along time checking and said she wanted a clear pic, babies had legs open and nothing obstructing, she pointed out the 3 lines on first twin which wasn't very obvious, however the second twin was very clear and nothing obvious sticking out, and lines very clear Hmm my mum asked her if she was a 100% clear and she replied she didn't do % and it was either a boy or girl and it was a girl???? she didn't mention that it was 2 early to tell and she also advised if she wasn't sure she would invite us back a week later to check, but gave us pics showing the sex and all in a pink bag!!! so do you think i should be confident buying pink things??? sorry for constantly worrying about something or other?

claireinmodena · 22/02/2012 19:08

Hmm something not right...so I've made you all my mumsnet mates and made photos visible for mumsmetmates, why can't you see them?? Bugger! I'll make them public, but only for a couple of days..sorry I'm a bit paranoid! Blush

goingmadtrying congrats on the girls, your dss sound lovely! Iìm no expert but gender reliability depends on the ability of the scanner, I think it's very rare they get it wrong. I was told at 13 weeks, and it was later confirmed over many other scans. Will they not confirm on NHS scans?

BB3 and dream I really feel for you with all these illnesses, it does wear anyone down in the long run, let alone if you have babies or are pregnant with twins, really hope for you this is the last time!

rednellie Sad about tichy skin, mine wasnt too bad and I managed to keep on top of it with moisturising or BIO oil.

bigboobs we also have 2 moses baskets, I hadn't really given it much thought and I used them with dd1 and dd2 so just got them this time too. In the hospital the twins were kept together (mainly so I only had one cot to ferry around) and they were fine, so I felt a bit guilty about separating them at home, but maybe it'll be better in the long run. They can't sleep together forever! They sleep well anyway.

I took them to the peads today for another check up and they have grown lots: Emma 100grs over her birth weight and Riccardo 300grs! She said they look well and healthy Grin so I must be doing something right!!!

I am feeling so much better this week! A lot more mobile, and not as tired, (despite broken sleep, it would have made me feel like a zombie months ago, amazing how you get used to it!), quite ready to ditch all the helpers! I am not ungrateful, my mum and mil have been amazing these past 4 months, but I am soooo ready to reclaim my house and my territory! I need time to myself and to spend with the babies on my own!

My mum is coming nxt weeks as she hasnt seen the babies yet (due to snow she couldnt come) but then thats it.
Oh and the dds have nits again FFS, I keep wondering why they get them so OFTEN? NOt what I need now, but nothing is spoiling my babymoon, the twins are so gorgeous, they are better than antidepressants!

Right hope to have remembered everyone,

keep well!
