Ps sorry for getting your name wrong! Blush

DreamingOfPeace · 03/02/2012 14:19

lol goingmad, I wouldn't be surprised if you don't get to 37 weeks if that is a 'normal' singleton pregnancy for you

lilyni, everyone one this thread has been very restrained with not typing ars*y messages or lamping people recently. How RUDE! I'm fed up of the 'rather you than me', 'there's twins in my family and I'm so glad I didn't have any' comments from strangers in the supermarket/ mums at playgroups etc etc I feel there is a real risk of me saying something obscenely rude to someone soon Smile

bigboobs, I hope you have a wonderful relaxing hen weekend Grin . My DD is also like that with me now- super clingy, daddy can't hold her/sit with her/ cuddle her, if we're both at home and going up for her bathtime, DH carries her and she fights and wriggles and howls and wants me to carry her- even if I'm walking up the stairs behind him and her.... So, if you know what to do, let me know!!! I'm trying to be reassuring, and still get her to do things with other people (I never used to get a look-in if Grandpa was visiting, but now she still wants me to pick her up not Grandpa Hmm ) but be around so she knows I've not left her and hoping it passes in the next 9-10 weeks- eeek! My DD sounds similr to yours- I think her first daytime nap in her cot was around 9 months (before that I had to walk her in the sling...) although I was very lucky that til 4 or 5 months ago she slept through a lot of nights. Even the wakings are ok- not ideal but ok, but when she's up for extended periods in the night, I despair!

It would be lovely to meet up with people- I bet no-oone is near me, there's not so much going on on the MN local (or I could be using it wrongly...). I'm North West- near Lancaster (anyone see our maternity services being outed as so shite on national news again yesterday?!). I did meet another lovely twin mum due very near me- she's due on 13th April to my 19th, with DCDA girls. Strangely similar! They're her first children though, so I think not having a toddler will mean we'll actually be doing very different things once the babies are here. I hope to be at DD's normal groups and activities, she says she doesn't plan on being dressed for a month!! And then I presume she'll go to baby massage and the baby groups etc whereas we'll be doing more age-appropriate stuff for my DD. Still, hopefully we can meet up sometimes.

DreamingOfPeace · 03/02/2012 14:22

hello claire, I can't believe you're so close, you can count down on your fingers!!!!!!!!

DreamingOfPeace · 03/02/2012 14:24

Hmm, you'll need some variety....

'are they all yours?'

'No, I snatched two from the street'
'Who, these kids? Never seen them before in my life!'
'yes, and we'll have as many more as possible'
'Yes, and I've 3 more at home'

run out of inspiration so far...

rednellie · 03/02/2012 14:38

liliyna, that's really not on. But don't take it personally. When people say things like that to me, I have to remind myself of the hilraious conversation (with hindsight) that me and DH had on the way to having our 13 week scan about how glad we were we didn't have twins and wouldn't it be a total nightmare! Grin We soon changed our tune. If it makes you feel any better, my mate is expecting her third baby and people have been really combative to her about that - was it planned? Are you mad? etc etc. You'd almost think people didn't like children...Personally, now I've got my head round it, I think it's amazing. Amazing that our bodies can grow these two people and amazing what's in store once they come out. xx

Thanks everyone for the sympathy. Went on a proper self pitying mope last night, but feeling more positive today - I'm now working out a birth plan for a c-section, trying to work out what music would be best to be played, can you imagine if they got pulled out to the Rocky theme tune? No, is that just me then?! The OB said it was highly unlikely they would turn now (cheers for that) and to just start getting used to the idea. He also then told me a horrendous story of someone who insisted on a VB for breech twins which pissed me off as I'd rather he gave me stats then anecdotal evidence! But I've stopped crying every time I mention it so I must be getting used to the idea (why are we all so bonkers?). Wink

dream, I got the downloads from this site: hypno birth. There's some good ones for relaxing. I'm finding they really help with falling asleep if nothing else.

goingmad, my left side boy didn't seem to move hardly at all until relatively recently, now I wish he'd go back to being strong and silent. I think it must be something to do with internal physiology that the one on the right is sometimes closer to the surface, as it were. Now though they're both stretching my skin at all sorts of angles, very peculiar.

bigboobs - have a good one!

rednellie · 03/02/2012 14:42

Oh and dream and bigboobs - are both your DD's around 18 months? I only ask as that's the second BIG seperation anxiety time. My DD went through the same thing at that age, but now she's a real daddy's girl and I'm gutted. ha ha, can't ever win!

Lilyni · 03/02/2012 15:27

Thank you so much everyone for the comments..... its nice to have such lovely support. I think Ill just have to learn to bite my tongue at the silly comments.

Goingmad - Im in Northern Ireland.... will have to check out if there are any twin clubs locally as ,I agree, it would be nice to meet people in a similar position.

Rednellie - thanks for making me chuckle at the Rocky theme tune.

Dreaming - great replies to "are they all yours?" - may have to use his kind of response to stop myself from throttling the next insensitive person :o

Claire - I am also worried about having so many kids but you are right - kids/babies are lovely and they will all be such good company for each other. It will be great to be part of a big family - hoping that things will get easier as they get older!!!

DreamingOfPeace · 03/02/2012 15:29

lol rednellie, yes, my DD is 17 months next week, so probably just yet more separation anxiety! Think bigboobs said her little girl is 2 in February?? or was that you?! I am really scared I won't be able to push properly for a VB because of these hideous, painful, disfiguring vulval varicose veins... Or that I'd plit them or something... must ask at my next appointment. If they say there's no problem then I just need to man up and start doing some form of CD, just in case I go into labour before 38 weeks when still I won't be induced so will go for a CS. The though terrifies me too, but I'm maybe equally scared of a VB- rock and a hard place anyone?!

oh, crying DD, back later

DreamingOfPeace · 03/02/2012 15:47

lilyni, I would love to think I might have another baby one day (but DH says threateningly about every other day "This is your last pregnancy!" ). 2 of my husband's colleagues have 5 children, though one sadly died soon after birth for one of them, but they say very positive things about larger families. Look at bb3, she has a 2 year old and 4 month old twins and already thinks they'll have another!

skitoo · 03/02/2012 16:00

GGGRRRRRRRRR, was just finishing massive post that I've been writing inbetween meetings today and the mumsnet monster came and ate it all Angry.

Better finish some work now though, so will try and reconstruct tonight.

Sorry your boys aren't playing ball Rednellie, but there's still time, will keep fingers and everything else crossed for you.

claireinmodena · 03/02/2012 16:24

Just noticed I wrote "I worrh about coping with 3" doh? Not very well obviously if I cant even keep count Grin

DreamingOfPeace · 03/02/2012 18:03

Oh no, dire baby squits in this house. Dd has refused even a mouthful of anything to eat (including a biscuit-must be ill!). Apart from offer drinks and expect a rubbish night is there anything obvious I should be doing for her?!

skitoo I get SO cross when mn eats my posts...

BB3 · 03/02/2012 19:03

Dreaming, lots of fluids and cuddles is pretty much it!

Lilnyl (sorry Im in my phone and know I've got your name wrong), ignore them, most of them are probably jealous!

Claire - 10 days!!! Tomorrow is officially single figures!!!

Responses:

  • Yes, would you like to buy one?
  • No, I borrowed them from rent-a-child

Rednellie - Grin at you and dh on the way to the scan!

I always thought twins would be a nightmare (when I didn't have them) but from the second I found out it's been great (and petrifying), now triplets... That would be a nightmare GrinGrin (just kidding they'd be ace!).

We have a house of snot (joy) again!

Thank you for the lovely comments about dcs I'm very biased but they are quite scrumptious! I can't wait to see all the nee babies when they arrive - went to are my frieda baby girl last night who is 7'4 good 1lb heavier than the girls were and she seems so tiny compared to my monsters!!!

BB3 · 03/02/2012 19:06

Grin at rocky rednellie, apparently (according to the mail online) Marian Carey gave birth to her two to her own songs so maybe you and dh could record a little ditty of your own for their arrival!

DreamingOfPeace · 03/02/2012 20:16

Oh, now that's a great one bb3, made me laugh out loud (a bad thing when you're only half out the baby's room!), love the 'do you want to buy one!' .

I agree, for all I'm worried about looking after them well and not merely 'coping', I wouldn't go back and not be having twins for anything Grin . And i know bb3, I'm dying to see more twins pics of the new arrivals. I keep wondering how quempin, tabby and raven are getting on. And Katy and twinnerves, they've disappeared!!!

I have done 3 changes of clothes this afternoon through the horrendous baby squits... Nice... Paranoid about middle of the night changes too now.

goingmadtrying · 03/02/2012 21:36

evening ladies have come up with another for brood of children:

"what...(looks behind)...........oh your joking not again, these children keep following me!!!!

i have the joys of heartburn tonight the joys of pg!!!!

rednellie · 03/02/2012 21:58

claire, I wrote hilraious, in italics! I think we're safe on this thread from any grammar of spelling nazsties. At least I hope so...

What a pain dream. Your DD sounds like she's getting all her childhood illness done with in one go, just a shame it's all happening now. I hope she gets better and yeah, just keep her topped up with fluids. Bah, I really do wish you luck.

BB3, I'd quite like a nice neat scar so I might refrain from breaking out in song mid-section! Grin Mariah Carey is hilarious (spelled it right!). I'm still upset at Beyonce closing down practically the entire maternity wing of a hospital to have her baby - I LOVE Beyonce, seeing her at Glasto last year was a highlight - but apparently there were parents being stopped from getting into the NICU due to security. I'd have gone ballistic...

skitoo - damn! Stupid computers. Type again when you get time.

We're having a lovely birthday day here - DD has been having a great time. She's now passed out and I'm off for a little nap. Yey.

DreamingOfPeace · 03/02/2012 22:56

Uh oh rednellie, if she's going to do all the childhood illnesses right now chicken pox must be soon! I could seek out a chicken pox party to just get it out if the way... Is today your dd's birthday?! Is it you and bigboobs with girls with February birthdays? Confusing for the pregnancy brain addled!!

rednellie · 04/02/2012 02:20

Well, DD's birthday was definitely today Grin.

We get vaccinations for chicken pox out here, and Hep B. It was very confusing when we first got here to work out where we were in the whole scheme of things...

BB3 · 04/02/2012 02:57

Rednellie - I'm not sure how much I believe that one - I can imagine mariah Carey listening to herself but apparently beyonce spent a few million making the room bullet proof also so i'm pretty sure if she was batting around millions then she could probably afford to add a little private nicu area and nurse in her room - the hospital had no complaints so think it was just some jobsworth trying to get in the news although if it was true, in with you, if have gone ballistic!!!!

Dream - we have squids here too, the girls are currently fighting going back to sleep (literally, Ayse is shoving her fist in edie's mouth and Edie is attempting to gnaw it off) and the heating in our old house (rented out) is broken so I've spent my entire evening trying to get a plumber to go tomorrow and now I have two going! not a good night so far!!! I'm going to go back to sleep and hope it gets better in the morning!

BB3 · 04/02/2012 02:57

Oh and happy birthday to dd xx

BB3 · 04/02/2012 02:58

Bloody predictive text - I'm with you, I'd have gone ballistic!

rednellie · 04/02/2012 04:52

Oh, I hope that story was wrong, I really love Beyonce (don't tell anyone Wink)

BB3 · 04/02/2012 07:22

I think it was - you would not spend millions making it bulletproof or even major renovations in an already popular (so assume expensive and well presented) celeb private hospital! Bit far fetched to me!

DreamingOfPeace · 04/02/2012 08:38

How have I missed this beyonce story?! From what's written on here, sounds totally far fetched, I'm with the journalist wanting a better story. Who'd want to shoot her?! (Apart from a random crazy) she's not stirring up strong political opinions or anything...

I do want dd chicken pox vaccinated but she's not well enough for long enough to do it!!! Not even researched where yet.

Happy birthday for yesterday to your dd rednellie, she was 2 wasn't she? How lovely she had a good day.
