Yay Claire - roll on 13th - you'll be fine! I'm very excited for you!

Dream - yay for a good night, I am crossing fingers it's not a one off and she sleeps soundly tonight!

My DH is useless at shopping, you send him to Tesco to get bread and he comes back with 10 bags, £50 later, "oh this was on offer, and that and this" and "we need this random plastic thing that cleans wooden floors" (of which we have non - this is not a joke). I now have to send him with a budget - so he can go to Tesco for bread and spend no more than £10 unless he rings me for permission first Grin Grin! I have cupboards full of food we will never eat that I have to wait until he goes away and then throw / give away and say we ate it but kids / me didn't like it! Blush.

Going mad I worked until 34 weeks and if I am honest it was far too much (and I was working solely from home for the last month). If I was ever pregnant with twins again I'd give up when I found out between 26-30 weeks depending on my overall pregnancy health.

Dream, yes my sister will have them, I am only one day in London so will do feed and nap monitoring etc for the other four days while at home and just work slightly longer hours if needed. we have my mum also won't be able to stop herself helping!

BB3 · 02/02/2012 14:41

Oh forgot to say, I am all for letting twin mummies going as long as they want to (even to 40 weeks) but I think you should have the option of daily monitoring post 38 weeks for DCDA and 36 weeks for IDs to reassure mothers that the placenta is still working effectively and (hopefully) be able to catch it if it wasn't. however, I don't know if that is an option.

claireinmodena · 02/02/2012 15:40

Agree with you on the monitoring BB3, at least every other day, I'm actually surprised they havent offered it to me! When I was pregnant with dd1 10 years ago all my friends back in Italy seemed to doend the last two weeks of prefnancy constantly being monitored (my sister was appalled that I wasnt) and that was for straightforward single pregnancies.

It seems like they're running out of money here too. Hmm

goingmadtrying · 02/02/2012 15:56

yay dream i bet you that was luxury having a night not getting up to dd and sitting in the cold, although would have been more lovely without the other issues!

Claire how exciting having a date, i know you will but make sure you highlight to your mw any reduction in movements or anything worrying, bet you can't wait to meet your babies!!

i will be able to take 6 weeks annual leave before my mat leave as starts again at beginning of April, think if i can change my working hours slightly im hoping to go to 29 weeks but seriously if i don't start to feel better ill be going as soon possible!!!

skitoo · 02/02/2012 16:55

Afternoon all - sorry for going awol just after finding you ladies. If I'm honest I got myself in a bit of a tiz over the whole giving up work thing Blush, but am now sorted and feel loads better for it. I've decided to stop at 30 weeks, taking 2 weeks hol and then starting mat leave. I finally admitted to myself yesterday that it wasn't just making a decision on dates but I was struggling with the whole thing mentally - well I'm over that now and can't wait Grin.

Claire, great news on getting a date and so exciting that you'll be meeting your babies just the week after next.

Dream, am so pleased DD had a decent nights sleep last night, sorry that yours was disturbed with damn pg problems.

BB, you sound really well sorted with little ones and braving going back to work while DH is away - I think we maybe need a crib sheet from you to help us all when we get there Wink.

Renellie I cannot believe what the other mum had to say to you!! What the hell has it got to do with her. Sounds like you dealt with her rather calmly, think I might have just been rude. Can't agree with you on the floradix though, it makes me gag. Was advised to take it whilst going through ivf treatment (when I did absolutely anything that I thought might help) but it was a real struggle and always had to do it over the sink just in case, yuk.

I'm sure you ladies have done it previously on the thread but anyone been told how big they are? I had GP appt this morning and was measured for the first time - she did say that she didn't actually know how relevant it was for twins but if I was having a singleton I'd be measuring 37 weeks . Just how big am I going to get?????

Funny how all of our DH's have different shopping traits. I'm very lucky in that mine is a bit of a cook but he'll go to get the bits for whatever he's planning for dinner, wouldn't think twice to look and see if we've actually already got any of the ingredients in the cupboards and would he think to check if we need bread, milk, fruit or any of the other basics - no chance. So we'll have a lovely dinner but god help us if we want a cup of tea before work the next morning Hmm.

Have any of you guys bought moses baskets? I'm wanting to but searching on the internet am finding them all a bit frilly, any ideas?

goingmadtrying · 02/02/2012 17:15

well done skitoo how lovely to be on the work countdown, im ready to make that step now Blush and im only 13+ weeks!!

im not going to bother with Moses baskets, tbh not got the space, im thinking bouncy chairs and carrycots on pushchair, may consider a travel cot if need somewhere to put them down :)

claireinmodena · 02/02/2012 17:15

Hi skitoo I did get moses baskets as found with my older dds they hated the vast expanse of a cot. I had second hand one with them but have since given it away. I bought them online from john lewis, basic range, white waffle (I cant stand frills either) and were about £30 each iirc? I didnt get stands as I have been given those.

Well done in the work thing! I had to stop at 27 weeks because if a short cervix but I would have continued a bit longer otherwise.

BB3 · 02/02/2012 17:35

Skitoo - I was 52 inches round at 36 weeks Blush

I got some Moses baskets from John Lewis they are like entwined twig type thing round the side and white inside - I'm not making them sound nice hang on I'll go find the link... here

goingmadtrying · 02/02/2012 17:48

bb3 they are beautiful :) we just won't have the space!!

DreamingOfPeace · 02/02/2012 18:01

I have a Moses basket from dd, but she hated it with a passion, never slept more than 2 hours in it and went into her cot at 9 weeks to sleep 8 hours straight, first night!!! I checked her at least 4 times, I thought she must be ill or dying, this baby that needed feeding every 2 hours suddenly going 8... She was fine, just the opposite to Claire's girls! I will not be getting another though, just in case they're same. Hoping for both in cot together from day 1.

Rubbish, dd demands me, back later!

rednellie · 02/02/2012 21:24

I've got a normal cot, but the side goes down so am planning on having it strapped to my side of the bed to enable easy nighttime feeding. Having said that we moved DD into her own room when she was 4 weeks old (because we are EVIL Grin) and we all slept better for it. But she wasn't much hassle to feed at night and I have a feeling twins may be a different story. My twin mate pro (makes her sound like a buggy!) said she had a sofa set up in the boys room with everything she could ever want arranged around it.

skitoo, mw measured my bump last week and it was measuring 37 weeks (am 32 weeks), BUT I'm much larger around my middle iyswim: 49 inches at the rotundist point. I look like I've got a torpedo stuffed up me jumper. Btw, I think I like Floradix so much because I am actually a bit anemic...

DD just made me have hysterics, she's sitting in one of our kitchen drawers (very safe, only tuperware in there) and she's got a head band on a la Wimbledon, no pants or nappy and is singing twinkle twinkle little star. Ahhhhh.

Right, am off to the OB - wish me luck. Here's hoping they've turned...

DreamingOfPeace · 02/02/2012 21:50

Oh, rednellie, I'm with you on the evil, we lasted 9 weeks with dd in with me (dh always slept elsewhere on the no point us both being knackered theory), and only because it took til then to get hold of our hand me down cot! Babies are such noisy little creatures... Your dd sounds adorable.

At 25 weeks my bump measured 29-30 weeks, but now I just measured my waist and i am 41 inches at 29 weeks. Eeek!!!

Phone battery about to die. But don't be hard on yourself skitoo its been a long road to get here and life changes don't get bigger than multiple babies... And double babies, double worries I've found.

rednellie · 03/02/2012 00:33

Babies still breech. OB going to book me in for a c-section at next appointment. Gutted. Sad

BB3 · 03/02/2012 07:13

Grin at dd Sad for lack of turning but you do have time rednellie,, they may decide to just shift around a bit before then - fingers crossed for you xxxxx

goingmadtrying · 03/02/2012 07:17

rednellie im sorry :( your little boys are causing you trouble even before they get here, there's still time isn't there?? i hope t1 at least swings round for you :)

how was last night dream?? hopefully you got an ok night

i think i actually felt two babies moving last night :) I've been feeling movements against my uterus but nothing that i could distinguish as babies, but i laid on mytummy in bed last night and definitely felt movements in 2 different places, also thought one had hiccups earlier in the evening!!! im not going mad am i?? told dh and he was like its too early!!! hope i wasn't imagining it???

claireinmodena · 03/02/2012 07:29

Sad with you rednellie I know how you feel, its such a shame...you may still have time on your side, try and focus on the babies. This is what I'm doing now, try not to think about the process but focus on the end result! (which doesnt mean I wont be scares shitless a week from now Grin).

Sending you a hug!

DreamingOfPeace · 03/02/2012 08:10

Oh what a shame rednellie and after all your efforts to turn them too...

Dd was up 3 times before 2:30 but nothing from then on and only once did I have to spend a good while inching out. I still feel really tired but do have a horrible cold, probably the reason.

Hooray for movement goingmad, I felt these two at 15 weeks which I thought was very very early. (Not necessarily 2 at first either, but flutters etc) Maybe not if you're 13 or 14 weeks!

rednellie don't mean to rub it in, but what hypnobirthing thing did you download? I need to get in vb frame of mind, although I'd definitely swap with you and take your two breech boys for my two cephalic boys if i could... Wink

bigboobsatlast · 03/02/2012 08:25

Hi all. Sorry for the lack of radio contact, for some reason I have not had chance to get on the lap top. All ok here. I had scan on Weds and both babies doing well and the same size (apparently 1lb and 7oz each). I am feeling huge and lots of people have commented on how big I am - which doesn't bother me too much but does freak me out about how big I am going to be as the weeks go by!!
Off on my hen weekend today - feeling a bit nervous about it but I am sure it will be ok. I really feel for you dream (although hope your DD had turned a corner) as my DD is really playing up, which feels me with worry about how it will be when I have the twins. DD only wants me not DH (I think they will be fine this weekend as I wont be here for her to ask for, IYSWIM) - so only I can take her to bed and when she wakes up in the night (at least twice every night!) she only wants me and if DH goes in to her she goes loopy! I am going to go with it for the next couple of weeks until I finish work (2 weeks to go!) but then I am going to have to try and address this - not that I know how! But I dont want her associated the babies with me not being there for her - so she needs to get over only wanting me before they arrive! Arrrrrghhhh!!

Sorry babies have not turned rednellie - lets hope they shuffle in to place for you. I don't have a clue about how late babies can turn but I think it is right up until labour isn't it?

I am sure I feltt babies move very early Goingmad so I am sure you are ont imagining it. I only ever feel the right baby for some reason - consultant has said not to worry about it as they both look fine to him and left baby is probably just a little quieter - and he is breach so may be that means you feel less? And on the leaving work - I am leaving in two weeks so I will be 26 weeks, and to be honest I have had enough already.

So soon so soon Claire! So exciting.

I have a moses basket but not planning on using it to be honest. PLan on having one cot in our room with us with both babies in and then move the cot in to their own room after a month or two I expect - and in to their own cots if they seem to want that. DD was in our room for about 3 months I think but only about 5 weeks of that was in the moses basket - which we didn;t have much success with to be honest. During the day she always slept in her bouncy chair thing. She did not have day naps in her cot until she was 8 or 9 months! I am still deluding myself that twins will be great little sleepers as they will have each other to comfort them....... and surely I deserve good sleepers after DD?! Ha ha!

I am now going to have a look at your photos BB3...

Hello to everyone I have missed. I will return after my weekend away... hopefully rested and relaxed but we shall see!

goingmadtrying · 03/02/2012 09:34

bigboobs have a fantastic weekend away hopefully you'll feel really relaxed after it :) are you taking any holiday before your mat leave and are you planning to go back to work after?? i would like to go back so wanted to work until i could but feel absolutely shattered now, and i would have 6 weeks annual leave before hand so paid in full, its so hard isn't it making the decisions!

Lilyni · 03/02/2012 10:15

big boobs - glad everything went well at your scan - what great weights already. hope you have a great time at the hen weekend.

rednellie - hope your LOs turn soon for you ... im sure its so frustrating but hang in there - how lovely it will be for you to snuggle your little babies soon.

going mad - how great that you are feeling the babies move - I am feeling lots of movement all over but cant distinguish the individual babies :(

Claire - excited for you - cant wait to hear your news

BB3 - im a novice at MN and my brain has gone to mush - would love to see your photos but not sure how / where?

just a quick moan - decided to post on the local section of MN as there seemed to be a few mums due in around the same time. Said how twins were dc 4 & 5 and that it had been a bit of a surprise. I was really shocked by the subsequent posts saying that "If that was me I would be rocking in the corner" and "I have just had my scan - so glad its not twins". Am I being super sensitive at peoples comments? Im only 22 weeks and already fed up with people being completely insensitive and saying what they like! rant over - sorry! Ah well at least its Friday!

Big hellos to anyone I have missed :)

bigboobsatlast · 03/02/2012 10:27

Lilyni thats rubbush! Tell them all to eff-off if I were you! Very insensitive.
Goinmad, I have got loads of leave to take before I go so dont actually start mat.leave until I am 36 weeks - which is when I have been told I will have the babies. So although I am finishing early it is all annual leave before hand, otherwise I would have probably stayed until 30 weeks. Your MCMA aren't you? Consultant told me not to work past 30 weeks- not sure if this is specific to MCMA though? Don't see why there would be a difference.

And yes, I am going back to work (unless I win the lottery). all my money will be going on child care but hey ho, it will get easier!

Lilyni · 03/02/2012 10:28

BB3 - just figured out how to see your photos (im such as dumb a*s!). Your dc are just beautiful :o

goingmadtrying · 03/02/2012 11:11

Yes bigboobs im MCMA too :) My consultant hasnt really spoken about the future other than I would expect to have babies at 36/37 weeks at latest. If I leave when im planning which is at 29 weeks my mat pay will start around week 36??? I would like to take some time with my boys before babies arrive so might go a couple of weeks earlier Hmm. we are very lucky as family helps with our childcare so no cost, but not sure how they will feel about having 4??, I know I wont lose my holiday pay, but it wouldnt be paid till march if I have babies earlier than 36 weeks. My other 2 ds were born at 37 weeks so not sure I will go to that far with twins???

Fingers crossed for lottery win Grin

goingmadtrying · 03/02/2012 11:13

liliyna That is rubbish how insensitive, where are you?? I would love to meet someone who is in the same place as me, I am very worried about 3&4 but would be pee'd off if strangers thought it acceptable to preach to me about it :(

claireinmodena · 03/02/2012 14:11

Liliyana, how rude and insensitive Angry

I am also expecting no 3&4 and have had some rude comments, but to get that on a mumsnet forum thats supposed to be suportive??! Not on!

I do worry about coping with 3 snd we had only planned for a third but babies /children are lovely! Its extra live to go around!

Actually if anyone has any good answer to the commeng "are they all yours?" as I know I'll be getting loads...Angry
