Evening all,
I have had a long, loooong day with a grizzly, clingy, grotty DD after a long night with her and 6am start. Gutted- recently after bad nights she's been sleeping in til 8:30am. I took her to the GP so now she has an inhaler to use before bed to see if it helps the night coughing. I am currently on the Bedtime Battle, GROAN , actually back to the standing up, crying, shaking cot barrier etc exactly as it was before all the Landing Vigil Effort and improvement (plus she had a really early nap so not that problem either).
So here I am, back on the sodding landing going 'shush shush shush' and mumsnetting. And what have I messed up? Her inhaler. Read the instructions way, way too late, and washed the spacer quickly, but it has to be dry otherwise the inhaler stuff will obviously just stick to it and not get into the baby. I did put it on a muslin on the radiator, but it wasn't happening... Plus she's got a rash all over her torso and back and arms- I'm hoping it's just viral and won't turn into chicken pox...
Tomorrow morning I'm meant to be taking DD to a twins group at a children's centre- typically the one least convenient for me, but its only every two weeks and its the only one round here, and I rang up and asked if it would be ok to come and pick some twin mummies brains on how to lift 2, how they positioned them for feeding, etc- the practical things it might be useful to have someone in front of you for, and she said she'd check the 'good' mums to talk to would be coming and she'd ring me if not- so please don't let this rash look worse or pox-y in the morning and please let DD be chirpier!!!!! (and for gods sake go to sleep baby!!!)
So enough of the self-absorbed rambling...
claire, sounds rubbish about the hospital- they can take an astoundingly long time to achieve not much. I've never heard of or been warned you have to have a brazilian for a CS, or heard of the laxitive- can't be crucial, after all, you couldn't do any of that before an EMCS... Wonder if BB3 or quempin or raven who had planned c-sections can shed any light on 'normal' policy here? Still, they're both ok, you're booked in and it's done, thats the main thing! Fancy some head down stairs gymnastics type turning ploys like renellie?!
how was your scan today rednellie? Hope they're both growing well, looking forward to hearing what positions they're in now.
bigboobs, I haven't got any liners or anything yet. I do have fairly minging cosytoes that were sent with the ABC everest (think/hope they just need a good wash) but don't want the babies sweating and over-heating in summer. The sheepskin or lambswool liners I've looked at vary but are around £40. So fine for one, but £80 for two!!! Plus can't decide which is best, whether it's worth spending a bit more etc. They'd probably carry on using them for the whole time they're in buggies- meant to stop them sweating sat on the artificial material of pushchairs in summer, but what's worth spending and what's excessive and un-necessary?! The biggest worry with the movement for me is that it varies a lot- like you, I mostly get movement on the right, and my last scan the baby on my left was breech. But I do vary a lot in how much I feel on the left, from some quite big kicks and wriggles some days, not miles less than the movements on the right, to nothing, or virtually nothing which can go on for ages until I'm tormenting myself with terrible images...
I'm so looking forward to them being safely here, I think it's the feeling of being so lucky to be a twin-mummy-to-be that I keep thinking something will go wrong.
Hello lilyni, hope your scan goes well tomorrow- will you tell us if you find out the sexes?! I tried to put you on the stats list...
And good luck for the other two scanees for tomorrow!
(sorry, essay length, but what else is there to do on a landing?!
)
