Hello, my name is Becky and I have just got my BFP after TTC for 5 months with 1 MMC a month ago.

I noticed that no-one had started a August 2012 antenatal club so thought I might start one here. Welcome to all!

Here are my stats;

I'm not having a good day at all Sad
I feel like crap, usual tiredness and nausea but also got a cold n a terrible cough that I can't get rid of, been ill for neatly 3 weeks now n today I'm just feeling really sorry for myself and feeling like I can't cope with everything.
I feel like I want to throttle DP, he's moaning that he doesn't feel well, granted he's got a bit of a bug but he's not dying and doesn't seem to notice/care that I'm feeling worse.
My house looks like a bomb has hit it but he's done nothing to help, today he'll be off at his mums with his 2 kids n I'll be with my DS tearing my hair out as he's being really hard work at the mo.
I just want someone to take DS off my hands so I can do my housework for an hour or 2 but it's not gonna happen. Feel like crying Sad

Westcountrywife · 01/01/2012 13:04

MissDuff I feel your pain, poor you. Is your DH the type that would respond to 'a chat' as it may be that he doesn't realise/understand and would feel awful if he realised. Sad

Otherwise a strategic cry (and or breakage of non essential/non expensive/ loud noise making crockery followed by strategic cry) may work. Not that I would ever do anything like that EVER Wink

missduff · 01/01/2012 13:18

Thanks westcountrywife, I have spoken/moaned at him about stuff pretty much daily for the past couple of weeks, more about the fact that I just need him at mine more, not really had to moan about the housework up until now. I am the sort of person if something is bothering me I will talk about it and usually in a quite reasonable way and often chuck in a few tears just for good measure and he is always dead good and assure me that this will change and he's gonna do this and that etc etc but I'm still waiting to see these changes! He is a good man, but he's just sooooo laid back it's unreal, I'm sure when he makes promises he means it but he's just not got much sense of urgency.
If he doesn't look after DS for me for a bit today I'm going to try a new strategy and ignore him for a day or 2! Maybe not the most mature way to deal with relationship problems but quite clearly talking and crying doesn't work!

Happy new year everyone!

Hey missduff, can a neighbour help? I have the neighbourhood kids around mine once in a while to give the parents a few hours off. we all do this around here... Not sure where you are but if it is in suffolk, i dont mind helping out...

I went out last night, I have not been that active in weeks! It felt so good to just get out! But my bloody discarge volume went up last night. I am not too worried about it (yet) as it is dark brown and really not much of it but taking it easy today and looks like nausea is kicking. not looking forward to this bit.

missduff · 01/01/2012 14:40

Thanks geekette, most of my neighbours are old biddies, don't think they'd appreciate a 2 year old throwing their ornaments across their lounge lol.
My next door neighbour has kids and when I first had DS she did offer to help but I dunno, I'd just hate to ask. I'll maybe tell her I'm pregnant next time I see her and maybe have a cry, see if she offers lol

harmonyb23 · 01/01/2012 15:13

Happy New Year! 7 weeks today. Slight nausea but no toilet hugging yet. Still no word from midwife. Think I may book private scan next week as want the reassurance some of you have described :) Hope that everything is alright with baby!

Had a small get together with family and friends last night. Everyone knows I am pregnant now and they were all really excited.

Hoping that this LO is a girl as although I love my two boys it would be great to have a female to level the peggings in the household - I'm so outnumbered! :(

Welcome to all newbies! X

sounds like pregnancy produces the ultimate cryomatics :)

good luck missduff but i am guessing you could just ask without the antics. In any case, hopefully you get some non virtual support soon!!

LIG1979 · 01/01/2012 17:04

Blackcat - your info with the chart of hormones has me worried - not sure I can do another 4 weeks of this!

Missduff - sorry your dp is being useless - can you not just ask him directly for more help? I really do think it must be tough looking after a dc and feeling rubbish - I am having enough trouble on my own. Second afternoon in a row dozing on the sofa!

Harmony - I found my scans have really helped. The private one was really nice as their equipment was so much better than the NHS ones I have seen and they took a lot more time to show your things and gave me a nice set of piccies. All in all a much better experience!it was money well spent and I would love to have all my scans there...but sort of feel I should be saving my money for when we go down to one salary and are skint!

Found my dh has downloaded the men's guide to pregnancy on his phone - very sweet of him. He is still at the conception bit so he has been letting me know lots of little tip-bits. Hopefully he will get onto the more relevant bits soon as I think we mastered the conception bit already. I am hoping it will tell him to look after me and treat me like a princess for the next 7 months.

Chocchip88 · 01/01/2012 17:16

Happy New Year everyone! I managed to get through last night without letting the cat out of the bag. I think some people suspected but I'm thinking I got away with it by telling people my resolution was to get pregnant!
Got home at 1.30am, DS got me up at 3am, haven't slept since, can't wait for bedtime. Yawn!
Does anyone have dates for their 12 week scan yet? I don't see the midwife for another 2 weeks, will be over 10 weeks by then. Very annoying as we move house next week so I have to travel 30 mins to see her, I didn't want to risk making an appointment at my new surgery in case they also couldn't fit me in for 4 weeks. Hoping the scan appointment will come through quickly. I'm getting a bit paranoid and impatient!

missduff · 01/01/2012 18:03

Yes I could just ask him for more help but I feel like a broken record at the moment, I'm constantly telling him how I feel and that i need more help but it would appear he's too bothered about his own snuffle to really care or do anything to help me.

Yesterday he too delivery of my online shop and when I got home he said 'I thought you'd like to unpack it yourself' 'ermmm no it's alright, im quite happy for u to do it' I mean seriously, has is it that much trouble to just put some stuff in the fridge?
And when I asked him about looking after my DS he said 'what? I can't look after 3 on my own!' me: 'well soon you'll have 3 of your own so there will be times when you'll have to and I might even leave my DS with u so you'll have to cope with 4'
I do feel bad saying this cos I'm making him out to sound like a prick and he is far from being one, but right now I just want to give him a good shake and a kick up the backside!

namechangerbat · 01/01/2012 18:09

Missduff - maybe a kick might be what he needs Grin good luck!

Ladies I start a new job beginning of Feb with a big company that you will know. I have to go and get my contract in Jan - I don't know when to tell them I'm pg Sad

Any one know when I should tell them? I'm 8 weeks now so will be 12ish when I start.

missduff · 01/01/2012 18:41

Thanks well I've ended up not having a strop with him, he's promised he'll be here ASAP tomorrow to help me with decorating and cleaning so I'll wait and see how helpful he turns out to be or not be before I throw a paddy!

jipsey · 01/01/2012 21:38

namechangerbat - theres a really helpful thing on the direct gov website where you put tick boxes regarding how long you've worked for a company, how much you earn, etc. and it spells out dates and maternity entitlements - www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/BenefitsTaxCreditsAndOtherSupport/Expectingorbringingupchildren/DG_10018741 click on 'Maternity rights - get personalised guidance'

missduff · 02/01/2012 07:50

namechangerbat how long is your probationary period? If u can I'd try and wait till you are on a permanent contract before you tell them.. I know employers aren't allowed to get rid of you because u r pregnant but the truth is whilst you are on a probationary period they can get rid of you for pretty much any reason and you would have great difficulty trying to fight it because you're only on a probationary period.
Sorry I hate to sound so negative but it happened to a friend of mine, well he wasnt pregnant, but the manager sacked him without any warnings which they are still supposed to do but there was nothing he could do to fight it as he was only on a probationary contract.

namechangerbat · 02/01/2012 08:07

Great Sad

namechangerbat · 02/01/2012 08:23

Says I have to tell them by May 5th

Not entitled to stat mat pay but may get mat allowance. I just want a job to go back to!!

namechangerbat · 02/01/2012 09:16

Urgh. Scrambled egg on crumpets. My favourite breakfast. Not today!! Ate two mouthfuls and ran away from the table like a child. My kids must think I'm potty Grin
DP just rolls his eyes at meHmm grose.

blackcatsdancing · 02/01/2012 09:44

chocchip88 where i live we have a prebooking meeting with mw, she and the receptionist both said it was vital to get the scan booked, far more important than the booking appointment. Mw said she'd fax off request that day (for scan). I saw her at 7+3. I couldnt get a booking appointment until 10+3. She said my date will come through in about 2 weeks. I wouldn't risk waiting. Get in touch with someone and express your concerns. If you are having the NT scan very small window of time to have it done.

missduff · 02/01/2012 10:16

chocchip yes I'd chase it up. I can't remember exactly what happened last time but I saw mw at my house for the first visit and then I'm pretty certain I just had to ring the hospital to book my own scan, I remember it was over the phone anyway cos I was offered Xmas eve and I was umming and ahhhring as was worried if the scan was bad news it would ruin Xmas.
I only went to dr's last week n expecting a call from mw tomos to book my home visit, hoping she'll be able to do it this week n hoping it's the same mw as last time

Chocchip88 · 02/01/2012 12:28

I pushed and pushed the receptionist to bring it forward but she said they were all booked up. I can't book my scan either as apparently only the mw can do it and she can't do it without seeing me! She only goes to the surgery on Tues lunchtime so I might pop in tomorrow to see if there's any free appointments as they must have women who were due to see her who have had their babies. They don't offer the nt here so I suppose that's one less thing to worry about!
Thanks for the advice!

firsttimer83 · 02/01/2012 19:13

Hi again everyone...happy new year! Hope everyone is well and not feeling too sicky etc.

Thanks for all the responses to my last post - I managed to get through NYE without anyone asking any questions...I just pretended to drink and tipped most of it away when i was in the kitchen cooking - such a waste of very nice wine but needs must! I've got to go to a party with free booze in a couple of weeks so I think i'll have to come up with an excuse for that. Got to get through until 7th Feb which is when my first scan is

I think i must have been quite lucky with booking scans etc - within a few days of going to my GP I received letters from the hospital giving me dates for my MW booking in appt and 11-14 week scan. I guess it just depends on the local authority/the hospital?

My tummy cramps seem to have been getting worse over the last few days - do they ever stop? Hot water bottle is my best friend at the mo. Also been feeling a lot more tired and a bit zoned out/dizzy.Back to work tomo after 2 and a bit weeks off over Christmas so hope I don't start feeling worse for that!

missduff - hope DH is being a bit more helpful. In my experience waiting for them to realise something by themselves is pointless - they need most things spelling out to them!

comixminx · 03/01/2012 17:04

Hi all, does anyone remember what the booking in appt consists of? I've made my appointment with the midwife for Thurs 12th and apparently it's an hour long, which is more than I'd remembered! I can see it might be needed if it's yr first preg and there's a lot less known about you but this is my second one. I remember that this is the appt where the blue notes are first filled in, I think?

Hmm, the talk of scans being booked early is worrying me a bit. I hope there won't be any probs in getting the NT scan booked for me; I will be about 9 weeks at the booking in appt, hope that's enough time. I'm 42 this year so pretty keen on getting the NT scan.

Chocchip88 · 03/01/2012 18:55

Here they do the booking in the same time as the scan, if I remember correctly it was weight, height, bloods, BP and about 300 questions on family history!

I didn't manage to get an appointment today, will try again next Tuesday. Very frustrating. Might end up going private for a scan at this rate, I'm dying to tell people if nothing else!!!

PickleSarnie · 03/01/2012 21:24

Happy New Year all! Hope you all had lovely Christmas. Mine was fairly average. Everyone got the sickness bug which was pants. Although at least provided back up to why I wasn't drinking/sleeping all afternoon.

comix, I had my booking in today. Lots of form filling, questions on general health, family health, past history and whether or not you and your partner share the same grandparents! Oh and weight, blood pressure and bloods.

They've introduced a carbon monoxide test now! Which really pissed me off. They ask if you smoke, you say no but then they assume you're lying and test you anyway. Everyone knows it's stupid to smoke in pregnancy but, last I checked, its not illegal. Surely it will just scare off smokers from attending midwife appointments? Anyway, thankfully my midwife thought it was a stupid test too and didn't mind when I refused. Although, as DH said, we would have found out if our boiler was working properly at least!! :)

voscar · 03/01/2012 21:29

Is anyone in the Kent area? I've got my booking apt for 23rd Jan when I'll be 10.5 weeks which makes me think I could be quite a few weeks later before I get my scan.

This is our first so I don't know how they work in our area (darrent valley).

Ty! X
