Hello, my name is Becky and I have just got my BFP after TTC for 5 months with 1 MMC a month ago.

I noticed that no-one had started a August 2012 antenatal club so thought I might start one here. Welcome to all!

Here are my stats;

Harmonyb23 (23) Due date 19/08/12 DC#3

Please let me know if I am doing anything wrong, I've never started a thread before!

I spoke to mw today and shes asked me to go along to the clinic next tue to go through a few things like where I can give birth (it's changed in my area since having DS) and then she said she'll book me in for the proper booking in clinic a couple of weeks later.
I'm not sure whether to tell work that my appointment is for midwife, really I'm supposed to take appointments on my days off as I work full time but the mw clinic is only on a Tuesday, also if they let me have the time I'll only be allowed an hour, which I'm likely to go over so I'll have to work some time back. If they know the truth I can take as long as I like and not have to work it back and there's nothing they can do about it ha ha ha Grin

This evening was quite funny, I've got a really annoying cough and I was sat in the lounge watching the tele, wearing my snuggie and I coughed but I actually ended up chucking up all over myself. It was quite comical really, but I imagine probably one of those moments where u had to be there.

missduff · 03/01/2012 22:29

Also wondering when is everyone thinking of telling their kids? My DS is 2 and DP's kids are 4 and 6.
My mum said to put off telling my DS for as long as possible as he'll expect to come like NOW!
DP has said about telling his kids soon so they've got time to get used to the idea but I think we need to wait till after the scan. I really think kids should just be kids, if we lost the baby they shouldn't have to deal with that.

blackcatsdancing · 04/01/2012 09:35

missduff i'd wait and tell the kids when you're far further along - for numerous reasons.
carbon monoxide test?? wow that's new.

missduff · 04/01/2012 09:58

Unfortunately there are a lot of very stupid, selfish and ignorant women out there, IMO if a test can make a woman more aware of the harm they are causing to their baby then that can only be a good thing.

I once worked with a right thick cow who carried on smoking whilst she was pregnant, she reckoned the mw told her that it can cause stress to the baby to give up whilst ur pregnant! Wtf! It's not smack! It's a mental addiction, not a physical one, I very much doubt that any baby is there in the womb thinking 'i need a fag! I don't like being able to breath!'

namechangerbat · 04/01/2012 12:10

Missduff we aren't telling our 5 year old till after 20 week anomaly scan.

PickleSarnie · 04/01/2012 14:01

Urrrrrrgh. Writing this from the loos at work. Can't. Stay. Awake. So am closing eyes for just a minute. I swear they're going to think I have a drinking problem soon.

missduff · 04/01/2012 15:10

I think by 20 wks his 6 year old girl would spot my bump, I'm only 7 wks and already popping out (admittedly partly due to mince pies), last time I had a decent bump at 20 wks n I know it'll be more prominent this time. And she is one very bloody nosey 6 year old, she'd either work it out for herself or overhear something.

blackcatsdancing · 04/01/2012 16:29

my NT scan date is through. 26th jan! I'll be 11 +3 so got in at the earliest possible date. Trying not to think about. At least i'll know soon one way or another.

Deafworm · 04/01/2012 17:46

Missduff my dds are the same ages as your 3, dd1 guessed after a helpful episode of good luck Charlie on the Disney channel, dd2 then figured it out from dd1's excitement, dd3 thinks we're all mad, I mean really a baby in mummy's tummy, pull the other one Grin

the big two understand that baby won't be here till the end of the summer holidays and realise they have to wait, we have an app on my iPad which shows how the baby looks each week and dd1 is fascinated.

The downside is dd2 has no internal filter so most of my local friends know as she started telling them all! We have explained that sometimes babies go away even once they're in mummies which they took matter of factly. Hoping it won't come to the realities of that though

PictureThis · 04/01/2012 18:55

Dearworm we've had that same conversation with our DD who's 4. She climbed up onto my lap the other day and asked me if I had a baby in my tummy. Turns out she overheard my MIL talking Angry.
She's so thrilled because she's been desperate for a sibling and it's been very difficult trying to keep a lid on her excitement just in case.

Deafworm · 04/01/2012 19:13

I gave up picture, I have some very close friends who we see regularly so they know and will let her and dd1's teachers know but hoping she can contain herself with random mums in the playground etc!

missduff · 04/01/2012 19:24

deafworm that's funny that dd worked it out thanks to Disney! I keep wanting to tell my DS (2) but I know it's too early. He's going through a bit of a smacking phase so worried it might also make him worse.
Dp's 6 year old daughter is SUCH a gossip too, as DP says 'she can't even hold her own piss' lol, I'm sure she'll be telling everybody she comes in to contact with. Dreading his ex finding out tho Sad DP reckons it'll be fine but she has a habit of manipulating him (especially when it comes to money) i know the next time she doesn't get what she wants she'll use the 'ur not bothered about your kids now that you've got a new one line' which will NOT be the case in the slightest but she knows how to get to him.

Deafworm · 04/01/2012 19:34

Sounds like a tough situation missduff. Maybe wait and see when the 6 year old guesses, dd1 was quite impressed at her cleverness for guessing so it was ok we hadn't told her if that makes sense.

missduff · 04/01/2012 21:39

Anybody else watching one born every minute? I love it! DP...hmm...not so much lol

Westcountrywife · 04/01/2012 22:22

Thanks missduff, am now watching on plus one!

barkwithnobite · 04/01/2012 23:31

Hey all.....just found out today......due 27/08/12.......I'm in shock as just took coil out and I'm on hypertension meds. Got two DD (8 in feb and 5).... Haven't even told DH.

geekette · 05/01/2012 11:28

Welcome barkwithnobite!

It's a bit of a shock but congratulations!

namechangerbat · 05/01/2012 15:34

Just had my scan at EPAU

baby there and heartbeat all present Smile

Put me back a week though so am due august 20th

Am 7+3

Had to have an internal scan as couldn't see clearly to measure on abdo scan and I now have really achey cramps like I've been kicked - is that normal ??? Sad

Deafworm · 05/01/2012 16:16

Congratulations bark

And brilliant bat, I've only had an internal scan when I wasn't pregnant but I cramped afterwards it wasn't nice at all, hot water bottle/wheat pillow might help.

I'm finally booking in tomorrow, 3 weeks ago I saw the gp who said he would contact the midwives and I'd get a letter, the letter arrived today telling me to ring the midwives to book an appointment, seemed a bit pointless but tomorrow at 1 it is :o

jipsey · 05/01/2012 20:31

I had my booking-in app. yesterday. The MW started by warning us it could take up to an hour.... an hour and 40 minutes later finally emerged feeling uterly knackered - and I'm a healthy non-smoker with no family history of anything nasty... ugh!
This morning I had my first physio appointment to start treatment on my back after a car crash back in November... Apparently they're not supposed to treat pregnant women in their first trimester, but I think I've managed to persuade him to continue to see me as I really want to get my back sorted before I put weight on. anyone else had similar experiences? He agreed that the treatment would be easier without a bump, and that it's mainly the usual H&S red tape...

missduff · 05/01/2012 23:25

jipsey I had a car crash in the may and got pregnant in the October, I had finished my course of physio (think it was 6 sessions paid by insurance) just before I found out I was pg but wasn't fully recovered, I was just advised to carry on with exercises at home.
I did end up having quite a bit of trouble with my back and hips during the pregnancy and had to have more physio through the nhs, she said the problems I had were because my core muscles (stomach, back etc) had been weakened in the accident so I was struggling to carry the weight.
The trouble is once you start getting back pain in pregnancy it's very difficult to totally fix it until after baby is born.
So yes I'd definitely make sure you have the physio and do the exercises at home and maybe see if there's any aquanatal classes in your area? The fitter u are the less likely of getting back problems.
I am worried the same will happen this time as I'm so unfit and carrying more weight than I'd like to be, going to start aquanatal soon (once this tiredness shifts)

I'm really struggling at the mo, I'm just completely knackered aaallllll the time, I can't bring myself to even do the most simple tasks Sad
I think I feel a lot worse because I've got a chest infection so when I cough I feel like I'm going to be sick and sometimes I even am. Overal I'm just feeling crap! Totally and utterly crap!!!!
I feel like I'm dreading this pregnancy, I think last time I was niave and thought 'the sickness will be over in a few weeks' which yes it will but then I'll get the constant indigestion and not being able to sleep and then comes the piles and getting kicked in the ribs and never being able to get comfy and the swollen ankles, and so on and so on....

Sorry I'm just feeling pissed off and sorry for myself.

BUT on the plus side I am pleased to say DP is now being ANAZING! Basically I sit there on the sofa and he's my bitch! Lol haha. I hardly lift a finger, he cooks my tea, washes up, tidy up, put DS to bed. I feel a bit guilty but I'm just going to milk it whilst I can Grin

jipsey · 06/01/2012 10:32

missduff - so much to look forward to! I'd heard about most symptoms from friends but can't remember anyone talking about this utter exhaustion in the early stages. Makes me feel better hearing others are going through the same, so knowing I'm 'normal'. Glad your DP is behaving himself! My DH has been amazing for the first few weeks since we found out about the pregnancy but he works away alot so I'm struggling this week as I hadn't realised how much he'd been doing aound the house. I'm getting lots of texts and phonecalls from him to check I'm ok. It's not so easy staying strong at the mo with weepy moments about the silliest things. I hate making him feel guilty about being away all the time, but I just want to curl up on the sofa and snore at him!

missduff · 06/01/2012 12:49

jipsey I know exactly what you mean, over the xmas period DP was at his Mum's as he had his 2 other kids quite a lot and I just wanted him with ME. I could hardly be mad that he was with his kids but I just can't see past my own needs at the mo. And I wasn't exactly feeling up to having 3 kids running round my house very much either so I didn't even want him and the kids at mine, I just wanted him.
One minute I'll be fine and then the slightest thing will piss me off and I'm in tears. The other day DP said he was going to be a bit late getting to mine because he was going to fit his mate's light on his car, I threw a right paddy because a) he's not changed my light for the past 2 months of me asking him to and b) I just wanted him there with me NOW!! So I told him not to bother coming around at all. It was totally unreasonable of me but hey if you can't fly off the handle about absolutely nothing when your pregnant when can you?!

Chocchip88 · 06/01/2012 13:06

Can I join the exhausted club? I have absolutely no energy and the thought of walking to the park later seems like an impossible challenge. Also moving house on Wednesday which I can't even bring myself to think about. Hoping we all have a surge of energy soon Smile

NeedlesCuties · 06/01/2012 13:55

Hi!

Am jumping back on this thread as I'd fallen off due to not posting for a while.

I have my first MW appt next Tuesday, but it is an introductory appointment, not even the booking-in appt which will be in Feb (?) in the hospital I'll be having DC in.

No idea what this MW appt is for as I'll only be 7weeks pregnant, but according to health centre it's for all pregnant women Hmm I had DS 2 years ago and only remember meeting the community midwife after the booking in appt and scan. Oh well, will see what happens then.
