Hello, my name is Becky and I have just got my BFP after TTC for 5 months with 1 MMC a month ago.

I noticed that no-one had started a August 2012 antenatal club so thought I might start one here. Welcome to all!

Here are my stats;

I just wondered if anyone else is feeling really thirsty? I want to drink all the time and I'm really craving food with high water content.

Westcountrywife · 15/01/2012 18:15

Yes tatty, I wake up with a huge thirst it's ridiculous! Normal though for the rest of the day. ....but mornings, almost a pint of squash/water before I can do anything else.

LIG1979 · 15/01/2012 19:17

Tatty - I am also thirsty - it feels like I am dehydrated but I am drinking loads of fluids. My body then stores all the extra water so I can have a good supply to release in my middle of the night toilet breaks!

Chocchip88 · 15/01/2012 19:38

Hi all, finally moved house but managed to lose my phone in the process. Add that to no landline, no Internet and the dated decor in the new place and I feel like I've been transported back to the 70s! I have to say it has been an absolutely exhausting process, only myself and DH know I'm pregnant and I can't wait to tell everyone now, at least to explain why I may have seemed so lazy during the move. All I want to do is sleep!
Finally seeing a midwife this week, hoping I get my scan appointment through quickly, our mail is being redirected and apparently that means everything arrives a week late, I'd be so upset if I got the letter after the appointment!
Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend, DS slept for the longest in ages today so we didn't get woken until 5.45am! I never thought I'd be pleased about that. Good job I go to bed do early - yawn!

TangleTamer · 15/01/2012 21:33

Hello everyone. Finally had my booking appointment this morning. Very relieved that midwife hasn't referred for me consultant led care. DD was 10lb and had shoulder dystocia so midwives will monitor things more closely this time instead. Have a bit of a doctor phobia and wasn't looking forward to spending hours at the hospital either!

Looking forward to scan now so can finally tell people why I am so tired etc. Although did tell a colleague the other day but she kept going on about it being really early days, particularly given my age. I'm only 35 Angry. Wish I'd not said anthing now...

missduff · 15/01/2012 23:27

tatty yes I get thirsty, altho I think I often avoid drinking cos I never know what I fancy, water tastes metallic, cordial or anything fruity triggers indigestion, gone off tea and coffee, the only thing I can manage at the mo is milk but it's not very thirst quenching.

tangletamer was this colleague about 22 by any chance? you're still a spring chicken, take no notice!

booking in appointments - just wondering if ppl are taking their OH? Last time I had it on my own and I'm sure I remember the mw asking me loads of questions about family medical histories on both sides and I didn't know a great deal about ex's. Is it best if DP comes along?

Westcountrywife · 16/01/2012 07:34

Missduff, I have my booking appointment today at home. I gave DH the option on whether he wanted to come or not. I am glad though that he is keen and wants to be here as it is our first and I'd like him to be involved as much as possible. We are discussing at the moment as he is considering being a stay at home Dad. I think that is making him a bit more keen to be involved. There are some things though that I will be reserving the right to send him out of the room if I need privacy!

Westcountrywife · 16/01/2012 17:20

Well booking appointment went well. Mostly it's about getting information from you and letting you know about further appointments... scan next week...

PictureThis · 16/01/2012 19:02

I've got my scan appt through for monday 13 feb, not too long to wait. My MS is more like evening sickness, every day at 4 o'clock " Hello nausea my old friend...." it's getting very tiresome! I am really craving melon, especially watermelon, and oranges which are both high water content fruit. I really must make an effort to drink more.

Deafworm · 17/01/2012 08:55

Glad your booking in went well tangle, sorry about your colleague though, very insensitive, I've told a few close friends partly so I have a bit of support if things do go wrong.

Has anyone else found that Emma's diary has them a week ahead of everyone else? All the calculators etc have me at 10 weeks today but Emma's diary had me there last week!

I took dh miss duff after a rubbish midwife last time who made me cry after my appointment with her I wanted some back up, fortunately this midwife is lovely :o

Glad your booking went well Westcountrywife and a scan so soon :o mines on the 2nd feb and times dragging a little! If dh is keen to be involved (and I realise it's a while off) have you considered him cutting the chord at birth, dh has done it for all of ours and it's been a lovely way to involve him. He would definitely recommend it.

Ooh picture this watermelon sounds wonderful, shame about the sickness though, mines still horrible so I sympathise, having been away for a week dh is suddenly realising just how rubbish I'm feeling.

I've got teenage spotty skin now :( not happy with these hormones at all! How's everyone else feeling this morning? Dd2 is off school with a bug so were watching tangled while I'm meant to be studying!

geekette · 17/01/2012 09:07

Finally shook off the doom & gloom which had me in its finest grip. Now the world is all rosy again.

Still not much ms, no craving, no aversions, & no spotty skin. All in all feeling quite good this morning to be honest! I will enjoy it till the next wave of doom & gloom!

My booking in is on thursday. Haven't actually asked DH if he wants to be there as i figure we will need his days off for hospital visits and i would like him to come to antenatal classes too...

TangleTamer · 17/01/2012 15:13

Geekette My partner would have been bored silly at my booking visit. The midwife mainly went through the practical things like contact numbers for the hospital, what tests would be offered, the appointment schedule through pregnancy and basic health advice. If he's short of holiday I think it's a much better idea to save it up for the scans.

missduff My colleague is older than me and has 2 children of her own! Think she may be a tad jealous though as she would have loved to have another baby. Told another colleague yesterday and she was much more excited for me so feel a lot better now :)

Deafworm I'm starting to get spotty skin too and am equally unimpressed!

Booking bloods to look forward to tomorrow...

ruskiewicz · 17/01/2012 20:48

Glad everyone's doing ok... 8 wk scan on Friday was good, had a bit of hassle re. doctor (they won't give me my quarterly B12 injections even though the consultant said it would be fine).
Passed on details for booking in appt a week ago, still not heard from midwife.
BUT just for those of you who read stuff online and panic (like me, stressing over lack of morning sickness): the consultant who scanned me said not to do it. In his words, the internet is 'full of bullshit' and the best thing to do is 'switch it off'. Hope that reassures my fellow Google-botherers. The midwife there said she'd never had any morning sickness with any of her own pregnancies.
Oh, just been to M&S for work trousers. Size 12s depressingly snug, 14s ridiculously baggy. Gave up and bought leggings.

missduff · 17/01/2012 23:06

ruskie give in and get in maternity trousers! I've been in them from about 6-7 weeks lol

Deafworm · 18/01/2012 06:43

I've been in them since just after Christmas too missduff, dh and I can see a visible bump shape now but im hoping it just looks like I've gained weight oddly, I wasn't exactly dainty before pregnancy!

missduff · 18/01/2012 08:35

deafworm well I've got enough of a bump for ppl to have started noticing now, a few ppl at work have started guessing now, in fact I think everyone on my team knows now.

I'm really upset about work actually, I really don't mind ppl on my team knowing, I'm friends with anyone so if the worst did happen I'd prefer for them to know and they all know not to tell others in the office.
BUT ages ago I arranged a trip for our team to visit a hotel so on friday we're all going to a hotel, free meal, free piss up, stay over, spa treatments, afternoon tea and then come home.
I was really looking forward to it even if I won't be able to take advantage of the free wine. It's all free and free is my favourite word (perk of my job).
BUT the office manager said that we had to offer some places to the rest of the office (office politics) so it's ended up that 5 other people are coming and 3 of them I can't stand and 4 of them are the biggest office gossips! I work in an office of about 100 people and it's now inevitable that by the end of next week the whole office will know! I'm so sad that the decision to tell everyone has been taken out of my hands.
DP says just to tell ppl I'm on anti biotics and I have been coughing and spluttering for weeks so it could be quite believable but my stomach has gone massive so I don't think they would believe me Sad

LIG1979 · 18/01/2012 08:38

I am holding off on getting maternity/larger clothes until my 12 week scan but had the scary situation of realising that my dress I was going to wear to work yesterday wouldn't do up. (I'm 10.5 weeks.) I am trying to reassure myself that it was just my increased bust size but I am sure the belly pouch I have grown over the last 6 weeks or so isn't helping. Normally, when I put on weight it is an all over thing but it seems to all be on my belly and bust at the moment. I hate it!! I either want a proper bump or no bump at all!

Deafworm · 18/01/2012 12:32

What do you normally drink missduff? At our Christmas meal I drank lemonade and lime and after we told some friends I'd mentioned I'd expected to be out that night and they'd all assumed I was drinking pear cider so maybe a little hope there? I think I'm kidding myself that it's not noticeable, close friends know, I just want to keep it off the school playground gossip till after the scan but they only even see me in my big thick winter coat, I can see the difference but don't think it's that obvious to anyone else in it.

Lig that sounds normal to me, wait till your bum joins in the growing! I mainly bought maternity gear so I didn't have things cutting across my waist making this sickness worse. But now any pre pregnancy trousers are being held up using a bobble!

I've just woken up from a 2 hour sleep didn't sleep brilliantly last night but didn't realise it was that bad!

PictureThis · 18/01/2012 14:56

My jeans just about do up but by lunchtime they're driving me mad, so into maternity jeans today and they keep falling down! I'm convinced it's still not baby bump yet, more like lots of me not helped by my sudden burst of domesiticity today. I've made a batch of buttermilk scones which were so delicious straight from the oven I've eaten 2 already. I really need saving from myselfBlush. I knew I shouldn't have watched The Great British Bake Off on sky+.

missduff · 18/01/2012 16:49

deafworm the answer is I drink anything and everything! I think with the meal it will probably be wine included so I might accept a glass of wine and a water and when nobody is watching I'll swap my full glass with a friend's empty glass, I really can't envisage any of my friends having the remotest of problems with this arrangement! And then later on in the night when everyone is getting drunk in the bar I can maybe drink soft drinks and ask the bar man to put it in a mixer glass. My friend did point out that these office gossips are probably that self involved that they won't even notice!

Deafworm · 18/01/2012 17:31

Your friend probably has a point, I know drinking in pregnancy is controversial but I'm definitely of the school of thought that the odd glass doesn't do any harm, even the NHs are currently saying 2 units twice a week so a glass of wine with dinner if you feel comfortable wouldn't be the end of the world.

The scones sound good picturethis, I've been eating bread today like its going out of fashion but my attitude has been what the heck at least I'm eating! I've lost weight but still my clothes don't fit so ignore the scones and blame the baby :o

missduff · 18/01/2012 18:53

deafworm I've not really got a problem with having the odd glass of wine but at the moment just the smell of it makes me sick, there's no way I could get any to my mouth. But I think people dont tend to notice whether you're actually drinking or just have a drink. Think people are more likely to notice if I decline the wine rather than accept it but then don't drink it.
I'll have 9 friends who know the truth to help me with my lies, it's just the 5 extra people I'm bothered about.

PickleSarnie · 18/01/2012 19:05

Fell off this thread so am jumping back on.

Hope everyone is well. I'm still having sneaky powernaps in the loo at work and attempting not to puke at the smell of everyone's lunches.

got my scan date through. By my LMP I'll be 11+1 but that assumes I conceived on day 14 exactly. What if I'm a couple of days less than that and its too small to do the NT scan. Will they call me back for another scan?

For those having problems with trousers being too tight but maternity clothes being too big, I definitely recommend a bellyband. It comes with a couple of different sized extenders that attach to your button at one end and goes though the hole at the other side and a few different coloured bits of backing material (so you don't flash your knickers). It let's you carry on wearing your normal clothes for a bit longer.

PickleSarnie · 19/01/2012 12:55

Got It a bit wrong. It's a bellybelt not a belly band. Tis is it here www.amazon.co.uk/The-Gro-Company-401-Multi-One-Size/dp/B0010X4F02

Deafworm · 20/01/2012 08:21

Makes sense missduff, hope it goes well and you have a lovely time.

Pickle I got called back when my scan was too early so it was just another chance to see baby :o I never got on with the belly belt, I have one and just use he bobble trick, I find it's either too tight or too loose and I get annoyed!
