Hello, my name is Becky and I have just got my BFP after TTC for 5 months with 1 MMC a month ago.

I noticed that no-one had started a August 2012 antenatal club so thought I might start one here. Welcome to all!

Here are my stats;

Harmonyb23 (23) Due date 19/08/12 DC#3

Please let me know if I am doing anything wrong, I've never started a thread before!

Needles I've got an appointment next week 2 and mw said it isn't a booking in appointment, she'll do that a couple of weeks later, think she's just going to go through a few things like where I can give birth.
Good job this isn't my first! Last time I couldn't even think about the actual birth until about 6 months!

NeedlesCuties · 06/01/2012 22:11

Missduff - I've already told the Doctor where I'll be having DC, I want to have this one in the same hospital I had DS in.

Had to see the GP last week for him to send my referral letter to the hospital.

Maybe midwife wants to see all the pregnant women to talk about healthy eating, lifestyle and to ask if we have any queries...

There are a few things from my last pregnancy/labour I wouldn't mind talking through, so hopefully it'll be worthwhile.

Whereabouts are you? I'm in Northern Ireland, from reading other threads I think they do things a bit differently here than elsewhere in the UK, but I could be wrong.

missduff · 07/01/2012 08:45

I'm in Manchester, I think every region does do things a bit differently. I remember last time everybody going on about measurements but I was never measured once. Personally I don't see the point in it as a measurement shows nothing in my eyes as everybody carries differently, I would currently have a large measurement as I am about 4 months pregnant with 6 dozen mince pies!

births has anybody had or planning to have a home birth? Last time I had DS on a midwife lead birth centre and it was wonderful but I am considering a home birth this time. I like the idea of giving birth at home but not so keen on the thought that someone could come round trying to sell double glazing or that any visitors could just turn up. Last time I did labour at home as long as I could manage with gas and air and some neighbours started congregating in their front garden (think they were just being nosey!)

Deafworm · 07/01/2012 09:18

Jipsey the exhaustion is absolutely normal, dh will be working away for the next two weeks just in time for my eldest 2 to go back to school and I'm dreading adding in 3 miles walking a day (which is normally nothing ) and the extra housework with the 2 year old in tow, as well as trying to cook without being sick :( you aren't alone!

Booking in went well, my midwife is lovely and supportive of me having a homebirth, unfortunately she's retiring mid pregnancy so fingers crossed the next one is as nice.

Wow miss duff your neighbours seem a bit much, just shut the curtains and ignore them? I planned a homebirth with dd3 but went into labour while I was at the hospital so had her there instead! I'm determined to get it this time.

Has anyone looked into hypnobirthing? I can recommend Marie mongan's book and cd, I did the course before dd2 and its made such a difference in my labours.

missduff · 07/01/2012 09:37

deafworm I don't know much about hypnobirths but I'm guessing it's just deep relaxation techniques? My area are fabulous like that, they offer guided birth classes which I did last time at it really helped, taught me relaxation and visualisation techniques plus talked you through different labour scenarios so when it came to the birth I knew what to expect.
I'm not sure I'll be able to go with this pregnancy tho as the class is on one of the days I don't work so can hardly take DS along with me. I might look in to that cd you mentioned instead.

NeedlesCuties · 07/01/2012 09:41

missduff how did you have gas and air at home? did the hospital give you some in advance? That sounds epic!!

My labour lasted 17 hours last time and I did the whole thing with gas and air but really wish I hadn't gone to hospital after only 2 hours..... If I had gas and air at home I could have stayed there much longer.

No interest in homebirths, think it's a great idea for other people, but not something I'd fancy.

Deafworm · 07/01/2012 10:03

It is, missduff yes, sounds great that you are offered that sort of thing anyway. The book goes into the physical reasons of why labour hurts and what makes it worse as well as how being relaxed relieves it, all tied into fight or flight.

missduff · 07/01/2012 11:04

Sounds interesting, that's one reason I'd like a home birth, the stress hormone increases the pain.
Yes the midwives in my area seem really keen on natural ways to help labour, they also offer free acupuncture for various things in pregnancy which I had last time for back pain and then to induce labour.
I also used aromatherapy oils which they were impressed with and seemed to know quite a bit about them.
Thinking about it I'll probably just have this baby on the same birth centre, I suppose it's the best of both worlds, like being at home in the sense that you are free to do what you like, and they let you labour naturally, they are very relaxed about visitors, you could have 20 people in your room if you wanted, but then there's always that back up that if something went wrong there is a theatre downstairs and they could get baby out in minutes if necessary.

Hello ladies, apologies for crashing into your thread. Just popping in from Nov 11 post natal thread to see if anyone is interested in the brilliant doppler I've just listed on ebay

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320825765830?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649

I bought it for £70 in May & it has a start price of 99p - I found it really easy to use with very clear sound.

Good luck with your pregnancies :)

barkwithnobite · 07/01/2012 22:58

Anyone got large, sore boobs??

Westcountrywife · 07/01/2012 23:06

DH is only allowed side on hugs so that his shoulder goes inbetween them. Sad

barkwithnobite · 07/01/2012 23:12

Phew...I can't remember being this sore for my other two...

Westcountrywife · 07/01/2012 23:15

...bought a bigger bra just before Christmas as had double boobs going on.

Mechavivzilla · 08/01/2012 13:32

Stopping lurking and commiting myself! I found out I was pregnant two weeks before Christmas. Totally surprized and delighted as we had been trying for 18 months and had just been refered to the fertility clinic. I had had really irregular AF and no ovulation signs at all, and DH had less than optimal results for his SA.

We had an early scan to date, as judging from LMP I would have been six weeks along! Teeny Tiny little gestational sac and nothing really to see put me at about 5 weeks. I am about 8 weeks now and have another scan on Tuesday to monitor a fibroid that was picked up last time.

Symptoms wise I have been quite sick, and the entire world smells like arse! No appitite either, which is very wierd for me!

So, I am Mechavivzilla, 28, due 17/08/12

ruskiewicz · 08/01/2012 15:50

I'm going to give up on the lurking too... v. early miscarriage spring 2011, periods stopped completely, diagnosed with possible PCOS after being referred to local Assisted Conception Unit. Started Clomid and the following month got the shock of my life: tested 5 weeks pregnant when I visited for an appointment on 23rd December :o
No previous DCs, first time for me - it took a while to meet the right man Wink I'm 36 and paranoid as have no morning sickness but am tired a lot and norks are very sore. Due date 25th August.
Early (6 week) scan showed tiny heartbeat. Due for an 8 week scan on Friday - am in constant panic mode hence holding off joining this thread Blush...

PictureThis · 08/01/2012 16:04

I can appreciate the permanent state of panic mode. I had an early scan last week which showed a gestational sac, yolk sac and fetal pole (dates 5+6 / 6 weeks), all looked perfectly well but I have been torturing myself as no FH was seen. Now I know that at this stage it's not always seen but having read other people's experiences of seeing a heartbeat at this gestation i'm convincing myself I'm going to miscarry. I'm having another scan week after next and should see more then. Boobs weren't as sore this morning and which added to the worry, but more uncomfortable this afternoon. I am driving myself demented!

ruskiewicz · 08/01/2012 16:20

Hi PictureThis - to be honest, it was DP who saw it all - the screen was at an awkward angle and I was lying there feeling a bit embarrassed as they had to do the scan internally - very dignified Blush
The heartbeat was a teeny tiny flicker. I'm not sure how usual it is to see it at this stage. Just before the scan a nurse looked pretty doubtful and suggested we wouldn't be able to see anything at all so soon. Try not to worry.
Think my boobs are sore because I spend so much time 'monitoring' (prodding) them...

Ambi · 08/01/2012 16:41

Yes to the sore norks, hurts bending down to pick stuff off the floor. The utter tiredness is killing me though. I was up at 5am this morning, yesterday was 3am.

TangleTamer · 08/01/2012 17:36

Finally giving up on lurking too! Expecting DC3 on ?18/08/2012. Had just come off Cerazette and convinced myself that would have trouble conceiving after reading numerous posts on the internet about how Cerazette messed up lots of womens' cycles for months/years. Thankfully wasn't the case for me though. Conceived the month after stopping.

Feeling much more tired/sick than with previous pregnancies but DP is being a star :)

Haven't told anyone other than DP and 2 friends so far. Think will wait until after first scan if possible!

comixminx · 08/01/2012 19:30

Not quite in panic mode but made the mistake of reading too much MN and worried myself! I'm not expecting any scans in particular until the 12 week one - last time I had an early one due to a small bleed but I haven't had anything like that this time and am just going to go along to my booking in appt this coming week & hope everything's ok. They won't be able to hear anything with a doppler at that point (8 or 9 weeks) will they? The last MW was very good at getting the doppler out every visit and I thought maybe she did it in the booking in visit too, but it seems so early it's unlikely...

Kyuri · 08/01/2012 20:07

Happy New Year all

Lovely to hear how you're all getting on. I've been away in Ireland the last wee while but back to work tomorrow (quiet sobs...). We had our early scan on the 27th Dec which gave us an EDD of 12 August (8wks today). Saw HB and all looks well. V happy with the service (Ultrasound Direct) and sonographer was lovely. picturethis I know it must be a big worry but most of the private clinics won't scan at all before 7 wks because it's so uncertain whether FH will be visible. I've even seen some that won't do it before 8 wks. Sending reassuring hugs.

Been feeling knackered and generally grotty most of the time. No pukage and still no boobular symptoms which is really weird. Lost loads of boob mass post last preg/b'feeding so I know they've changed a lot but I still expected them to get bigger/sore with this pregnancy....so far not at all. Anyone else NOT having funbag issues?!

Have been able to have a sleep every day over the hols while DS naps over lunch. Have no idea how I'm going to survive without one from tmrw. Hats off to you ladies who've been struggling through since just after Christmas.

Oh FWIT I had DS at home (planned) and it was completely brilliant. Also used Marie Mongan CDs (Natal Hynotherapy) and would say that was key to me staying v relaxed all through labour. We had a fantastic midwife and although things progressed quite quickly (2nd midwife didn't arrive in time for DS arrival) it was v calm and controlled. We were tucked up in bed with champagne a couple of hours after DS was born. Hoping for another low risk pregnancy in order to do the same again. Birth centre option sounds lovely too missduff

barkwithnobite · 08/01/2012 20:12

Too much MN got me in panic mode. I've got mild tummy ache - is it normal?

PictureThis · 08/01/2012 21:52

very normal. Everything stretching and growing.

geekette · 08/01/2012 21:56

Hey bark

I have mild stomach pains too and had mild cramps last week, most pains were on my right side.
Mine are either gas (sorry but it's true) or some ligament in the tummy stretching.
Someone more knowledgeable can fill in on which ligament that is.

Are you bleeding? or anything like that?

If not I would be tempted to say not to worry.

barkwithnobite · 08/01/2012 23:19

No bleeding, just mild ache/bloated/gassy feel...thanks
