Hope you don't mind the slight tweaking of the thread title :) I was feeling creative! Not that it matters, at this rate it won't last more than a week...!

yay good news M2

Oh cakes Opioids don't make everyone feel drunk. Def. don't me. Was once given a bugger-load of morphine (they thought my pancreas was exploding) and it did pain kill, mostly, but NOTHING else. The consultant told me to NEVER develop any form of addiction to opoids as I'd very quickly need enough to kill me. Same with the pethidine...though less effective on the pain management side. I've taken quite a few in the last 6 years (thanks to other other forms of migraine relief either not working or stopping me breathing), the I've probably built up a nice tollerance to them Xmas Confused
...whereas DH does feel a bit dissociated on opioids, even with codeine.

Oeisha · 16/12/2011 14:52

Grr. Memory is allover the place today. m2b Grin that's reassuring! FX for you never the less!

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 16/12/2011 14:58

Oeisha - I tend to have a pretty horrific reaction to drugs of most kinds - I vomit for hours after dental local anaesthetics, for example, shaking and shivering and feel dreadful, don;t even get me started on how I felt after my GA wisdom teeth removal - was ill for a week. If God has any mercy he'll give me the natural birth I want, because the alternative may be as bad as the pain...

I once was in hospital and they gave me a morphine drip with a lovely button I could press myself and give myself a shot. I loved it....probably a bit too much Xmas Wink. For me it just made everything lovely and floaty...the whole world looked like it was in soft focus and I had no concept of time whatsoever.

I'm going to try for as natural a birth as possible but open to whatever they or i feel is necessary. You never know how it's going to go!

DeeOfTheNorthPole · 16/12/2011 15:01

x post cakes. Just shows how many variations between folks there can be. I guess the message is just do what's best for you and trust your instincts!

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 16/12/2011 15:07

dee i too love love love morphine....wheeeeee floaty...

Shame you have to be in great pain to justify it :)

Hi yummy I'm in Redhill so not far away at all Smile all the snow was virtually rained away by the time I got home but I suppose it was best not to risk getting stuck on the trains after the issues earlier this week.

Good news mum2be Sounds also like they are keeping a very close eye as well which is reassuring.

Dh and I did our birth preference sheet last night as MW said we'd be discussing it at the next appt. We got a template from our hypno course which was very helpful as we didn't need to change it much, just added in that DH wanted to receive the baby really :)

Woo hooo - mat leave has now started. This week has been hell so I'm so glad not to have to go in anymore. Got lots of lovely presents from work though yesterday. DH went out for a curry with the NCT boys last night - I knew exactly when he was home as he found the squeaky panda! Me thinks there may be competition for that toy!

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 16/12/2011 19:06

yummy sounds like piles or an anal fissure-sea salt baths help a lot if you have a bath. Anusol or preparation H will help. Also aloe vera gel can be used too.

xxx

Can I join the fb group please?

I feel so heavy at the moment. Been having back ache on and off. I get period pains in my back and they feel like this. I've packed my hospital bag now and sorted with my mum the plan for DD when I need to go in. I'm all ready so just need to get Xmas out the way and he can make an appearance.

SantaSHO · 16/12/2011 20:33

m2b thats a pretty spot on weight according to my phone app. It says that at 37w 6d the baby is approx. 6.3lbs

Enjoy Mat Leave trubble

Went to physio today. She worked her magic but said that this specific pain is to do with baby being breach and will only be eased temporarily. When she said this I was expecting a few days of goodness, but sadly I was in agony again before I had reached the bloody car! Sad And if anything I now feel worse.

Mulledbee · 16/12/2011 22:26

Hello, I've had a busy day of Christmas present shopping. I ache all over now. :(

cakes thanks for that link - quite spooky that it is my exact problem! I will give it a try although I'm on my third mop cycle and it doesn't look too bad now.

Congratulations on your maternity leave trubble (and anyone else starting today?) It's lovely to be finished with work!

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 16/12/2011 22:35

I am soooo thirsty today. Must have had about six pints of water or diluted juice today - haven't eaten anything that would cause excessive thirst particularly, I can't figure it out, especially since I'm not even peeing that much more than normal (frequency or amount). Am secretly worrying rather a lot... silly, yes?

OP posts:
Mulledbee · 17/12/2011 06:36

sorry cakes, I missed that post. I think that doesn't seem toooo excessive. If you are still worrying today, a quick call to the midwife would help I'm sure.

I'm trying to decide whether to get out of bed and wrap Christmas presents. It's cold out there.

Wormshuffler · 17/12/2011 07:05

I have been really thirsty too for a couple of weeks cakes and my lips are so dry I am needing lypsyl every hour. I am not weeing more either.

yummy I thought I had these too but they appear to have gone back in. I tried very hard not to irritate them while out and TMI rather than wiping I kept going in the shower to clean to avoid rubbing with paper. Such a shame about your DH being away for christmas, do you have family you can share the time with?

Well baby certainly made up for it's quietness on wednesday, yesterday I swear it didn't stop moving all day!! I don't think it napped at all all day! Didnt feel anything much overnight so hopefully it's catching up with sleep. Found myself stressing that it was moving too much. But it was lovely all the same.

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 17/12/2011 08:34

I just handed out my first AIBU biscuit! Today I became a MNer...

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 17/12/2011 09:11

Hi cakes, that doesn't sound especially excessive for me either. Have you had the heating on a bit warmer ? That can make you feel thirsty too.

Had my work Christmas do last night - great fun but my word I was uncomfortable on that chair in the restaurant!! And lots of HBs all evening too. A colleague's wife asked me if I've got any stretch marks Hmm so I firmly said no. Boundaries, peeps...

greenlady78 · 17/12/2011 09:36

I'm utterly stressed with Mamas and Papas, WORST customer service and delivery service ever!!!! Spent all day yesterday waiting for a pram to be delivered, called them three times to be told - 'it's an all day delivery and you have to wait, we have no idea when they will come around' to have NOTHING delivered - no explanation, no apologies.

Woke up to an email saying they sent the items back to the depot and then another message 2 hours later saying the items will be delivered today...call Mamas and Papas for them to tell me they are unable to contact the delivery people, because it is Saturday (!) - so they have no idea if it will be delivered today or when it will be delivered....

Waiting for a phone call from a manager from Mamas and Papas (because there was none available while I was on the phone!!!!!) to do a former complaint...OUTRAGEOUS!!!!

My advice: NEVER order anything from Mamas and Papas!!!!

I will buy everything from Kiddicare from now on, they give you a hour slot delivery time, about 1000000 more civilised way to have your delivery done.

greenlady78 · 17/12/2011 09:55

Sorry about the rant mummies!!! Sad just spoke to manager who basically said : we can't do anything, we don't know where your delivery is and don't know when it will be delivered....wow! amazing customer service!!

SantaSHO · 17/12/2011 10:17

Sorry you have fallen victim to m&p's shitty customer service green. Iv heard lots of horror stories about them. Make sure you write a whopper if a complaint letter when you do eventually get your goods. Oh and remember to have a go at the delivery man, I love seeing them try to to come up with excuses on the spot
