Hope you don't mind the slight tweaking of the thread title :) I was feeling creative! Not that it matters, at this rate it won't last more than a week...!

Worm very sorry to hear about your grandfather's death, must be a difficult and worrying time for you, esp. having to think about your Mum in all of it and so near to your CS. Is there no-one else who can take it off your shoulders? Siblings, cousins?

Giraffe, Pink, how are you doing? And Nanny has gone quiet - do we think she might have produced??

I bought the baby stuff and a bonus of a new washbag for me stuffed with all new cosmetics for hosp - got paid so treated myself, as my old washbag was falling apart - simple pleasures Smile. Tmrw at long last feeding bras and tonight I'm going to order my slings online. And then I will be ready!

The mummies' chinwag was OK but the kids nearly wrecked the house - never had such chaos here, even at birthday parties Shock. There were 8 kids, ranging in age from 1.5yr-old twins - who were in fact the least trouble of the lot of them - to 8 years old, one of whom (didn't bother asking which) managed to pull a door off its hinges Shock Shock. Needless to say I will not be repeating the experience...

Oeisha · 28/12/2011 20:43

sho eeek! FX

Winds are terrible here too. Realised too late the catflap wasn't locked, so I have an AWOL furbaby... Confused

karmana I've had a few mini-gushes. MWs show varying levels of concern, but as nothing else is happening they're just assuming it's discharge. BUT worth reporting never the less.

m2b how did MW appt go?

butterfly crikey! Dont' blame you for not wanting to repeat that experience. What the hell were said 8y/os mummies doing???

Is it really only 2040! Shock can't go to bed yet. With this wind i'll be awake again after an hour or so.

OOOH! Gizzard's in! PHEW! All furbabies accounted for.

GiraffeAHolic · 28/12/2011 20:44

Blimey butterfly that sounds like a nightmare Shock

Nothing happening here, baby still moving about, no further contractions just niggly backache. Tempted to go to bed as absolutely shattered and could do with catching up on a few hours. Plus the wind is whistling through the lounge window frame and it's doing my head in.

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 28/12/2011 21:09

Wohoo! Just tested my TENS machine and it was quite fun; think DH may have a go later too. Had a visit from some college friends today who brought me some lovely baby things, including a jolly lovely Burts Bees set. But other than that it's been a long day - not sure how I'll cope before baby arrives when DH has gone back to work - it's just so tedious sitting around!

Oeisha · 28/12/2011 22:11

Query for you...those that are using real nappies: which ones? and why?

ghost Yes, I'm finding sitting around tedious. Bugger all to do in this area at this time of year but obsess about things like nappies.

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 28/12/2011 22:43

Oeisha we plan on using real nappies but our council offers a test pack of several different varieties rather than a voucher towards the cost. So we need to wait until the baby arrives in order to test them out. Plan is to use disposables for a few weeks while we adjust, and since lots of real nappies can be troublesomely leaky on newborns - better from at least 8lbs so I hear. My hope is that we'll cope better at that stage too. But I'm thinking maybe bambino mio if they fit ppm ok.

supadupaturkeystupor · 28/12/2011 23:12

i'm using bumgenius because that's what I have left over from DS. I went on the advice of thenappylady (google search) and it was spot on.

Wormshuffler · 29/12/2011 02:05

Well is this classed as a late night or an early morning? Slept from half 10 til half 12 now come down for a milky drink.

I am a natural worrier butterfly and always have to take control, I don't have siblings that can help but a plan is being put into place for my uncle to pick up mum for the funeral . There is a long wait at this time of year and it will probably be post my section but I can't see us making the 6 hour journey with a newborn.

90 is an excellent age and 65 happy years of marriage too. Poor grandma ......

Mulledbee · 29/12/2011 05:19

Morning all, I've been up since about 4.30, trying to decide whether to wake up and go downstairs or try and sleep. We have guests for lunch arriving at 11.30 so I could start making the lasagne...

So sorry to hear about your grandad, wormshuffler. :(

I hope everyone else has a better nights sleep tonight.

I've been thinking about Nanny too, hope she's ok.

Hey, I've not felt contractions yet, what do they feel like?

peanuts777 · 29/12/2011 06:20

Morning ladies,
I am a latecomer newby and hope you don't mind me tagging along too.....? I'm sure I just posted a message on here a mo ago, but it didn't pop up when I refreshed, so: take 2!

Mulled- thanks again for your pm I have updated my details on the stats list.

Worm - so sorry to hear about your Grandfather.

Everybody - Good morning, I hope you all slept better than I did!? Jumpy legs, Russel Grant in utero, snoring hubby and a terrible cold are making it hard.........

Peanuts xxxxx

Flubba · 29/12/2011 06:29

Hello ladies - just a quick nostalgic good luck wave to you all - this time last year I was on the Jan 2011 thread, and now my big fat bundle of joy is snuffling away next door. I miss being pregnant (hard to believe when you're uncomfortable as hell with all the trimmings, and have just gone through an alcohol-free Christmas and soon-to-be New Year!) and just wanted to wish you all the very best with your new babies. :)

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 29/12/2011 07:04

Morning ladiesSmile

Hope you got back to sleep ok worm

I've woken up everyday this week with a sore throat and snotty nose that disappears by mid morning. I'm beginning to think I must be snoring myself after telling OH off so badly for itBlush

We're going the biodegradable disposable route. For ease mainly and the fact that I've only got 6 months maternity.

Welcome peanut Grin

And thanks for the good wishes flubba

Hope nanny and kitty are ok ...

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 29/12/2011 07:29

Ps. Good luck with the scans today worm and oeisha x

Wormshuffler · 29/12/2011 08:05

Welcome peanut Russell Grant in utero?? Ha what does that mean? a bad dancer? Grin

Ah thanks flubba

Are any of you FB friends with Nanny? could you have a look on her profile to see she is ok? She was quite a regular..... also I havn't noticed redhead around these parts either for a while hope you are ok ladies if you are lurking not posting.

I managed to get back to bed about 3 ish, so I suppose 6 hours broken sleep isnt too bad...... nervous about todays scan but this time I won't leave until I am happy with the responses I get. That may mean being a bit rude and insisting on seeing the consultant rather than the registrar, but never mind it should be my last time at the clinic.

addictediam · 29/12/2011 08:31

By the looks of it only fish and shon are her fb friends?

addictediam · 29/12/2011 08:35

Red is still posting on fb, maybe she just hasnt ventured into these parts?

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 29/12/2011 09:12

Morning all,

had a worrying night-my sister is due on NYE and last night she fell down the stairs in her house. She knocked herself about and the baby. They went into Cov hospital and were kept in til 3am before they were seen. Thankfully everything is fine with baby, shes also had an internal and they have said she's no where near yet, it' not thinning out or anything. Poor girl. She has massive bruises on her back apparently.

Nanny hasn't posted since xmas day-we may well have a thread baby already for all we know. :)

Taking DD off to soft play today to meet up with some buddies. Making dh come with me by tempting him with bacon and eggs-thankfully soft play do a nice english breakfast.

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 29/12/2011 09:54

Ouch, fish, but glad to hear she's ok. That must have been frightening.

I've just found out that two ladies from my antenatal yoga class gave birth on Christmas day Grin! One was overdue by about 10 days and the other was +1! So exciting Grin

Nanny01 · 29/12/2011 10:06

Hi every one still have baby tucked up safely inside still. Have had some very strong braxton Hicks though. Have seen my lovely community midwife again. Hope that baby can come this weekend as I know she is on duty and dh wants to extend his leave, he he.

Nothing really to say other than went to the sales and had to deal with dd being sick at the check out poor darling. Also got 2 new nursing bras to from Bravissimo. Still feel so unprepared that my parents are coming to help get stuff down from the loft. I am really excited now as we are past Christmas and happy for our little one to make his appearance asap. His brother was on time but knowing how rare it is I can't see that happening.

SpagBollyandtheIvy · 29/12/2011 10:26

Hi everybody. Welcome peanuts and thanks for popping in flubba

My legs are killing today, have been sore for last couple of days. Feel like I have been exercising hard, my calves and quads are really tender. The only thing I can think of was dancing with DS a couple of days ago. Any other ideas, anybody else having muscle pain?

Re nappies, I have itti bitt d'lish which I already used with DS and loved. As someone said, it's a bit easier to start with disposables for the first few weeks, we use the nature baby care degradable ones, and also continued to use these at night with the washables during the day.

Mum2be79 · 29/12/2011 11:44

Hello Peanuts

Thank you for thinking about us and popping in Flubba

MW went okay yesterday. Everything fine. She did ask me what the plan was after my scan (which is today) to check the fluid levels.I looked blankly at her and I think she saw the slight panic in my eyes. I said that they keep saying, we'll see what it's like next week and 'take it from there'. She quickly tried to calm my nerves and said they would only induce if they think there is a problem with the baby.

So I have my scan today at 3:25pm. Hoping everything is okay I have my 40 week MW appointment in another town because they can't fit me in in my village - something about a baby boom?!? here are 4 ladies in my village who are all due in January alone!! Wonder what the school intake will look like in September 2016 - the school can only accommodate 30 reception age children (1 class per year group!)

Oeisha · 29/12/2011 13:07

Thanks for the nappy responses guys. I'm planning on the disposable Nature Babycare ones for the first while, but, well, I'm getting the need to have everything planned, so my frazzled brian doesn't have anything much to think about once Abi's here.

Welcomepeanuts and thanks for popping by flubba - it's nice to know there is light at the end of the tunnel.

nanny good to hear from you. Glad all is well.

fish how worrying. Glad all is OK with SIL though. My SIL was a Cov mummy, don't think she was that impressed. She's now booked with Warwick for no2.

worm hope your scan goes ok! Same to you m2b (think I got confused yesterday)

As for mine, other than a small fire alarm and evaccuating maternity (set off by a toddler, we saw him do it, bless him, parents were soo embarrased), all is well! She IS head down - like what I thunked. The consultant looked very confused as to why I was there at all...as she identified a head within seconds...but hey-ho! She's 3/5 engaged and otherwise looking good. Was nice to see missyface on the scan. Her little heart was pumping away Grin. Very cute. Grin

shonnomanom · 29/12/2011 13:17

Afternoon Ladies!

Welcome peanuts and Thanks flubba

Glad your sister is ok fish hope she's not in too much discomfort.

Good luck today m2b & worm

Congrats on the head down and engaging baby oiesha

Had a productive childfree wander round the shops this morning. I know Il pay for it later but saw it as my last opportunity to get to the shops. So now im all organised for all the birthdays and new babies in the next few weeks. Just need to squeeze mine out now!
Ps things are starting to loosen down there and baby has gone quieter. Quite happy for baby to come now - hint hint! FX

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 29/12/2011 13:59

Hello all. Know I'm not posting much, just too tired mostly, but didn't want anyone thinking I'd popped (I wish) so came in to say hello.

So, OK for me to make a litany of complaints here? I need a whinge, feel free to ignore, or match me with your troubles:

  • exhausted. Had 2 naps yesterday, slept 10 hours, need a nap again today. Bleurgh
  • vicious acid reflux
  • evil next door neighbour who does dogwalking seems to be hosting all her dogs in her flat and we're getting constant barking
  • I'm soooooooo fed up and bored. I want to do housework, but I'm having to wait for DH to do it or help me, but can't ask too many times or it'll become nagging.
  • trapped nerve in buttock. Nothing helps. Agony to walk
  • did I mention bored?
  • back ache
  • swollen ankles
  • PGP
  • nausea
  • constant weeping
  • general fed up-ness. I want my baby. I want to cuddle him and look into his eyes and see if he matches the name we've picked for him.

Phew. It helps to let it all out. 38 weeks today - no more than a month of this left though the standard 2 weeks is a bad enough prospect.

shonnomanom · 29/12/2011 14:28

cakes Feel free to complain at any time. We're all here for each other and all have steam to let go.
On the swollen ankles. Iv noticed that mine arent as bad during the day since iv started sleeping with them raised. Infact Iv even met my ankle bones since I started with the cushion under them in bed.
Oddly enough iv even been sleeping better since I adopted the extra cushion.

Been feeling very tempted to take down all the christmas decs. However I promised myself I would keep them up to NY Day aka Due Date.
