Hope you don't mind the slight tweaking of the thread title :) I was feeling creative! Not that it matters, at this rate it won't last more than a week...!

Welcome Pink and saladory.

I havent slept at all. :( I have the worst stabbing pain in one side of my back that keeps comming and going, and a super tight tummy. Im so tired I feel like having a good cry.

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 28/12/2011 06:45

Curry and sex = useless apparently, except for giving you raging acid heartburn and bad dreams.

It was horrid, every time I would wake up, then go back to sleep and find myself back in the bad dream, but a bit further on. It was one of those very realistic dreams, too, where the bad stuff is all possible and emotional so I've woken up feeling utterly drained and sooooooooo not in the mood for evil MIL and cohorts Why can;t labour start? Then I'd have no more pregnancy and a really good reason to not see them today.

What a night. I saw every hour, woke up with an enormous pain in my side (wind I think) then a massive cramp in calf. Now just come downstairs to a text to tell me my 90 year old grandfather is in hospital and isn't going to make it through the day. Sad

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 28/12/2011 07:46

Sorry about the bad nights ladies Sad and about your grandfather worm Sad

I'm working from home today and need to get a ton of stuff done.

SpagBollyandtheIvy · 28/12/2011 07:53

worm so sorry, that's really sad :(

cakes maybe you could have a false start? Or maybe just take lots of breaks to go for a rest? Best of luck!

I have a really sore knee, when I straighten it it's very tender and hurts all up the outside of my thigh too. Think I pulled something when dancing with my 2nd old, really should know better. Lots of HB but still nothing else. Planning to finish my birth skills book today (am up to crowning so nearly there :o) and finally finish assembling my bits and pieces for (fingers crossed) homebirth.

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 28/12/2011 08:14

morning all,

worm i'm sorry to hear of your grandfather. Hugs to you and yours today. xx

crosshair you sound rough, hun. Can you go back to bed?

cakes I 2nd i the uselessness of curry and sex. No bad dreams just bad tummy cramps from eating too much and too much spice. I dodged the heartburn by munching tums thoughout the meal. DH and I tried our very best to DTD but it (or rather I should say we) came to nothing. I couldn't "get there" and he had another attack of the melty man. Bless, pregnant sex is just not his thing. It's basically a waste of effort unless you have an orgasm as thats what stimulates the uterus and the prostoglandins get to the right place. Meh. Sex is so much more fun when it doesn't involve making babies or getting babies out!

Mum and dad are coming for lunch and bringing dd back today. I have really enjoyed the break and wish they would keep her for a bit longer. I keep wishing my labour will start so i can call them and tell them to just hold on to her for a couple more days and then bring her back to meet her brother.

anyone know anything about cooking Gammon?

I am cooking gammon for lunch today-i'm a bit confused I got 2 small joints (600g and 650g packs)from 2 diffferent places both need using up and neither is big enough for 4 so i thought i'd do both together. One pack says to boil, one pack says to roast it. I don't know whats best. I'd like to roast it with a maple glaze to serve with egg, chips and peas for 1pm but in that case to I boil it for bit first then roast?

SpagBollyandtheIvy · 28/12/2011 08:20

Re gammon, I tend to boil it a bit first as helps remove some of the salt then shove in oven. About 30 mins before it's done I remove skin if its got it, score the remaining fat, glaze with brown sugar and mustard, maybe stud with some cloves. If glaze starts to burn before gammon is done put some foil on it. Think it is a Delia recipe?

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 28/12/2011 08:27

Cheers spag that sounds ideal.

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 28/12/2011 08:30

I was going to say almost exactly the same as Spagbol, only minus the cloves :) The mustard and demerara crust is absolutely delicious and par-boiling it first removes some of the salt and ensures the meat stays moist and tender.

Worm - so sorry about your Grandpa :(

abeautifulbutterfly · 28/12/2011 09:15

Ooh, good luck pink, is this our first spontaneous start? (Hope it stays spontaneous).

Shonno: "when"? Are you still with us or does he know something we (and you) didn't?

SYmpathies with all those who had bad nights and dreams - I spent all night dreaming about being convinced labour was starting and going to hospital and nothing happening and being sent home again. Happened about 3 times Hmm. Once I was even in Russia when it all (didn't) kicked off...

Worm, very sorry to hear about your grandfather. Are you going to get to see him or does he live a long way away?

Hope the day picks up, girls. I am off to buy skull caps (or whatever you call those little hats to put on baby after bath) and muslins. My mummies' tea-party planned for this afternoon is rapidly disintegrating into me being put upon as childminder for various reasons but maybe it will all work out...

Wormshuffler · 28/12/2011 09:56

Thanks girls. He has now died . They live in cornwall and I'm in the east mids so its too far. I gonna go spend day with mum who's mentally diszbled she is local . I'm already worrying about the funeral arrangements my elcs is a week tomorrow . So I won't be able to go and have no idea how to get my mother there.
Wish the baby was giving me a few more kicks too, its a bit quieter than normal.

SlightlyStuffed · 28/12/2011 09:59

Sorry about your grandfather Worm.

And hear, hear about sex being more fun when not about baby making or getting out. It's been months since we've DTD as the PGP has taken any fun out of it. But I'm hoping to keep Jelly in here until the new year as it affects when they start school, like Butterflys situation.

I never noticed my bh last time round. Thought the tightening was the baby moving. But I def notice them now. I don't like the back ones at all but think the belly ones are fine.

Good luck Pink. Hope it all goes well for you and great sign that the placenta moved. Our bodies are amazing!

Mum2be79 · 28/12/2011 10:07

Worm Really sorry to hear about your grandfather's passing. It can be a really emotional and sad occasion at any time but to be so far away and so close to your ELCS must be heart wrenching.

gammon My MIL cooks the 'meanest' gammon/ham going. She puts it in the slow cooker for two hours on high and then roasts it in the oven for an hour - with a honey glaze. It really is scrumptious. DH has gone to work with some in a sandwich this morning.

I've been trying to keep track of the thread's progress via my mobile but not confident to post. Welcome back those who have been away for a long time. Hope all is going well with everyone's pregnancies. Any babies yet???

I'm having more period type cramps, irregular, but absolutely no sign of Peanut. I have a feeling that I may go over my due date if all goes well with my scan tomorrow to check fluid levels.

I'm at the MW in an hour.

GiraffeAHolic · 28/12/2011 10:08

Morning all.

Good luck for whatever happens today pink

Sho well....? Is DF actually psychic??

worm so sorry to hear your news, I know it's hard but try not to worry about arrangements, give yourself some time.

Not a great day here today either, it's the 5th anniversary of my mum's death today. Kind of wondered if baby would choose today to make an appearance as it's happened twice before in my family.

shonnomanom · 28/12/2011 10:42

So sorry to hear of your grandfathers passing worm. Your worrying could be having an effect on babies activities today. ((hugs))

((hugs)) to you too giraffe, anniversaries can be difficult.

Infact, ((hugs)) all round ladies. Too many aches and pains and rough nights for everyone.

Df Is infact not psychic at all!. Grin had quite a good sleep dispite the galeforce winds.

Good news! I had ankles this morning! Slept with my feet on a spare cushion and could see my ankle bones when I woke :)

Busy day today. Got a friend popping over for a visit before lunch then need to take dd to mums before my hosp app this afternoon.
First up, I need to stop avoiding putting the Tesco delivery away. Must move.

Oeisha · 28/12/2011 10:44

worm So sorry to hear of your Grandad's passing.

There's a good change LO's being quiet because you're upset, bless! Try some nice steady breathing. Not sure if you're a hypnobirther, but the breathing they have there where it tells you to breathe love/positive vibes down to baby often gets Abi wriggling a bit.

giraffe

pink fx for you!

Abi's gone quiet again this am. Maybe she's developing a new pattern. DH is having a small freak out now we're 37wks...."shit, we could actually have a baby at home with us tomorrow"...Hmm...he's obviously not been getting all my "could be as late as 1st Feb" talk.

GiraffeAHolic · 28/12/2011 11:57

Ooh I feel weird ladies, kind of shaky and spaced out, general niggles, nauseous and have upset stomach Hmm

Just put the last load of baby clothes and Moses basket bedding in the machine Smile

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 28/12/2011 11:59

Ooh giraffe - exciting... Hmm? :)

Keep us posted!

Karmanna · 28/12/2011 12:24

Hi all,

Sorry I've been out of the loop for a while - work was manic leading up to Christmas but I'm finally on maternity leave now and enjoying some resting and nesting. :)

Hope you're all doing well - did anyone deliver before Santa??

I'm feeling ok apart from mild SPD and carpal tunnel syndrome, so shouldn't complain really. I had a tiny trickle of something on boxing day and thought for a second that my waters had broken so put a pad in but then nothing - do you think I should be worried? It can only have been a teaspoon or so, and Duckie has been moving and wriggling lots since so I thought nothing more of it.

Anyway, hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and that the wait won't be too long for us now.

xxx

SlightlyStuffed · 28/12/2011 14:46

Giraffe, I'm a bit off today too. Hope this isn't the start of anything though. Keep getting a sharp stabbing pain in the top of my bump. Not getting any bh and Jelly is moving away very happily. I look really pale too which is a bit strange.

Hope it's just an off day.

Karmanna, personally I wouldn't be too worried about a bit of leakage at this stage. I'm getting some too but others here have too and got it checked and all turned out to be normal. But if you're worried then always get it checked out. The MWs never mind.

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 28/12/2011 14:56

worm i'm so sorry love. A sad time for you, especially this late in the day in your pregnancy.

Whereabouts in Cornwall? Not that it's relevant but I am a cornish lass myself.

Try not to worry about baby's movements. As long as youre getting some movements it's a sign that it's just having a quiet day. I'm convinced my quiet day the other day as because he'd moved round a bit so his limbs were deeper into my back

Wormshuffler · 28/12/2011 17:50

Thanks ladies
The family are bodmin based fish.

Well the lack of movement carried on until I gave in and called the hospital at 3 to arrange going over. By the time I had rang my best mate to look after the dc's it woke up ,and went bat shit for a good hour . So I called unit back and said I wouldn't need to go over after all. I have the consultant tomorrow for another scan so provided I get my usual 9pm activity I will be happy. Maybe the upset was subduing little one.

Can't believe we havnt had any babies yet , the stats list has loads of you on the 1st which is only a few days away!

GiraffeAHolic · 28/12/2011 19:24

Still here, still feeling odd. Had a few contractions this morning and a few more this evening and have pretty much lived in the loo all day. I'm guessing things are starting to some degree, have dispatched Dh to the cinema with instructions to keep his phone on vibrate.

Would really like to hold on until January though.

shonnomanom · 28/12/2011 19:53

Well I had an internal today and 'things' are progressing.
The consultant said I was 1-2cm long (as baby is not engaged yet) and approx 1cm dilated. And baby is still ceph!!
Was told to book MW appointment for Wednesday4thJan 'just incase' the sweep doesnt work. IF it doesnt work then the mw will repeat the internal and book induction for approx Jan10th.

Both the MW and the Con were concerned about my pee, it showed high levels of protein and lactolites(or whatever their called). Both repeatedly quizzed me on UI symptoms. Iv had a cold the last few days thats all.

Iv either been having BH today or some random contractions. Nothing of pattern or anything.
So you never know, if this works baby could be the first spontainoous birth on the thread and this year too!!

Proper galeforce winds here again

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 28/12/2011 20:10

Gosh, you go, giraffe and sho! All getting a bit scarily real I guess? Grin

Hope all's going well for kitty too.

I keep meaning to test my TENS machine so I know how it works, and am having enough HBs etc that it would be nice to try!
