Hope you don't mind the slight tweaking of the thread title :) I was feeling creative! Not that it matters, at this rate it won't last more than a week...!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Oeisha · 27/12/2011 15:52

Have rung MWLU and a MW will be ringing me back (apparently she's doing an antenatal apt)....they didn't auto say to go to Stepping Hill, but I did tell them I was 36+6...so who knows.

Oeisha · 27/12/2011 16:48

Went to MWLU, hooked to doppler for 20mins, she's fine. Possibly moved face back a bit more thus more nerfings in back. But she's fine. Grin

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 27/12/2011 16:55

Great! Smile

Wormshuffler · 27/12/2011 16:55

Ah that's good oeisha good on you for going .
I didn't get hb's with my other dc's but have loads with this one. I wish I could tell my bod not to bother practicing as I will be having elcs !

shonnomanom · 27/12/2011 17:10

Glad everything is ok oiesha

Oeisha · 27/12/2011 17:13

I had 4 HBs whilst on the CTG, didn't really feel them like I was a few weeks back....just really mild tightenings that you could put down to other factors.
Also, this MW thinks the head is down, but couldn't really find a bottom, so still having scan Thurs.

pink13 · 27/12/2011 18:58

Hi
I was on your original stats list (28, EDD 12th Jan, DC1), but have just been quietly lurking really, but am now after advice! My waters broke this morning, but I haven't had any contractions yet. Went to hosp, and have to phone back 8am tomorrow to possibly be induced (if they have a bed?! apparently there is a mini baby boom going on in Reading). Does anyone have any experience of anything like this or any advice about being induced? I had a low lying placenta for most of the pregnancy so was told I would probably have a c section and so haven't been prepared for labour at all, plus have been through 4 different midwives (changing systems around here apparently), so any advice/hand holding gratefully received!!!!

Mulledbee · 27/12/2011 19:18

I don't have any advice Pink (I'm a first timer) but I just wanted to respond. Very exciting that you'll have your baby soon! When was your due date?

Did you tell them on the phone about the low lying placenta? It seems strange if you've been told that you'll have a caesarian that they'll induce you. What would you prefer to happen? Dot be afraid to ask for what you want and ask for their reasons about why they're recommending their course of action.

Good luck!!

SpagBollyandtheIvy · 27/12/2011 19:19

Hi Pink, not personally had experience but had a friend whose waters broke before contractions. she was also sent home for 24 hrs as they want to give it a chance to get going on it's own. In her case it did, over the following night. Maybe if you spend as much time upright as possible this evening, gym ball etc, it might help?

If not they do prefer to induce in order to minimise risk of infection to the baby. But don't worry, if you are in that situation, you will be closely monitored as they do with all inductions. So you'll be guided through it and I think will have an epidural as the contractions can escalate more quickly. unless the placenta issue means they advise a cs anyway. Main thing is, try to stay relaxed as this will give you a better chance of getting into established labour naturally, have a nice shower and stay well fed and watered in case there's a long night ahead! Keep us posted!

Mulledbee · 27/12/2011 19:24

Glad all is ok Oeisha, and Supa, great news that the baby has moved at last!

I was 38 weeks yesterday but I'm quite happy for the baby to stay put until their due date too. I am feeling much more pressure downwards now though and my bump has dropped so I think the launch date is definitely getting closer.

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 27/12/2011 19:30

Ooh pink welcome back to the list!!! I'm afraid I don't have any experience to share but I do know that hospitals like to induce if your waters break and that different hospitals have different procedures, but it's about the risk of infection. Technically speaking, you don't have to accept it, but conventional wisdom is that 72 hours is the most you should go after your waters break.

Good luck! I'm also due on Jan 12th but no signs of labour here Smile

supadupaturkeystupor · 27/12/2011 19:39

hi pink, i had an induction with DS because my waters went - unfortunately there was merconium in them so baby was in distress.
I don't know what the steps will be in your case, but due to the emergency I had I was straight on a drip at 7:30, baby born by ventous 15:41.

The experience was fine Smile. I hope all goes well for you tomorrow fx.

Thanks for the messages ladies, had a lovely relaxing day and all has calmed down......

pink13 · 27/12/2011 19:40

Thanks for the replies, it is just nice to know there are other people out there!! The low lying placenta miraculously moved in the last week allowing a vaginal birth, have a consultant appt on the 29th anyway because apparently the baby is quite big. I'm hoping things start by themselves tonight. Due on 12th Jan, but my family have a history of early births. Will keep you all posted and sorry for lurking for so long!

salvadory · 27/12/2011 20:00

Hi Pink, I haven't posted here (lurked a LOT)before but am due baby number 2 on the 19th, my first is almost 2 and your situation sounds very similar to mine (with my first), my waters went on the 4th (Sunday evening/Monday morning).
I was admitted 24 hours later (8am Tuesday morning) and induced at noon with 2 lots of prostaglandin pessaries (one 6 hours after the other) nothing happened at all (no pain, no contractions). It was then decided to put me onto the syntocinon drip, whilst this was fine again no pain (level 2 on my TENS machine) there were also no contractions (at all!). After 12 hours the reg told me I would be on for at least another 24 hours but shortly after that the foetal heart monitor picked up distress signals, because I had not dilated at all they could not get access to the baby via my cervix (to check foetal oxygen) so I was whipped off for an EMCS and DD was born at 7 am on the Wednesday morning.
Whilst I cannot fault the EMCS, no pain and no issues with scar/infection or breast feeding, I do wish I had resisted induction for a bit longer, the hospital are really keen to get you going within 24 hours of waters breaking and actually the risk of infection is not that great and can easily be monitored by taking your temperature regularly. I do wonder if I had waited another 24/48 hours if my DD might have come naturally. Maybe this is because I did the NCT classes first time round so the whole 'cycle of intervention' guilt trip lays heavily with me.
However 2nd time around I have already told the hospital I won't be induced and if nothing happens naturally then I have an ELCS booked a week after my due date.
Good luck, make sure you aren't pushed down a path you don't want to go down (not that induction was a bad thing for me I just think it was suggested too soon).

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 27/12/2011 20:13

Good luck Pink! You're not a million miles away from me and ghost - as well as having the same due date, so perhaps we can all meet up with our little ones when they put in an appearance!

I had a curry tonight - a fairly mild one, but stole some of DH's v hot one which made me sweat. I am also hoping to seduce him with my sexy stretch marks and fat arse later ;) He may be amenable as long as he's not too full of curry and cheesecake :D

Oof - third episode of Only Fools And Horses... I hope DH succumbs to the seduction because I can;t take many more of these today!

x
to you all

pink13 Welcome back! We look forward to hearing about your speedy delivery tomorrow morning (positive thinking for you)...

and welcome to salvadory.

Abi's bashing about like a trooper now. Proper alien-style scenes...

Getting all excited about being 37wks tomorrow. She's of course, not allowed out 'til after my consultant's apt Thurs, but you know, if I was to go into labour whilst I was there, that'd be convenient.

GiraffeAHolic · 27/12/2011 20:32

Hello all,

catching up on the last few days posts, glad all babies are still in situ. Have we heard from kitty?

Busy few days here, looking forward to a quiet day tomorrow hopefully although dh back at work :(

39+1 today, got my MW appointment Friday :) I'm at that inbetween stage of not wanting to be pregnant anymore but not being mentally ready for the baby!

Bellakins · 27/12/2011 20:39

Good luck Pink, will be thinking of you.

Congrats Sho, such happy news! I know quite a few couples who've just gotten engaged, Christmas 2011 has been a romantic time for some!! Unlike me and DH, the most romantic he has been is helping me to get my shoes on! Not that I'm not grateful ...

Glad Abi is moving about Oeisha, good to get these things checked out.

Merry Christmas to all the other pregnant ladies!

Nothing exciting to report from me. Feeling a lot more pressure in the pelvic area so hoping baby has started to engage a bit more than last week. I'll find out tomorrow at my midwife appointment. 38 + 1 - woohoo!!

shonnomanom · 27/12/2011 20:51

Welcome back pink and hope everything goes smoothly for you.
Welcome to salvadory

No word from kitty yet giraffe

Tomorrow afternoon Im booked in for a sweep. It was successful with Dd, but I was 40+6 at the time, where as tomorrow il be 39+4. FX it works. Would like baby to be here before NY.
DP (or should I say DF) is back to work tonight, his parting words were 'remember tonight when things start to phone the work and not my mobile'. Does he know something I dont? Hmm

shonnomanom · 27/12/2011 20:57

pink & salvadory feel free to add your self to the updated listStats Thread

Thanks bella We've been together coming up on 9years, he proposed, ring-less, after a year. He was told to come back with a ring. Many years later I eventually get my ring!! Grin

Mulledbee · 27/12/2011 21:13

Shon - 'when' an interesting choice of a word! :). Your proposal sounded lovely. My husband proposed without a ring too, we were in bath spa though so I excused him as there was no room for one in his swimming trunks. Xmas Grin

Welcome salvadory it's good that you're able to pass on some real experience to pink.

Pink, great timing that the placenta moved - I'll be thinking of you and sending positive wishes your way! Take time to relax and get some sleep tonight. :)

mummyzoe2012 · 27/12/2011 21:14

ive been on the ball alot tonight to try and ease the pains im having. not working at all. they are period pains coming and going quite low down in the bump. also getting sharp pains in the chest when i take a deep breath that shoot down my bump. any thing to be worried about do you think. dont realy want to go backto assement unit till baby is ready to be born.

MissRee · 27/12/2011 21:26

Hey ladies, hope you've all had a peaceful and relaxing Christmas Smile

The last two days have been full of period pains, backache and then today a huuuuge "clearout" Blush so I'm hoping things are getting moving... Grin

Mulledbee · 27/12/2011 21:39

Not sure about those Mummyzoe, perhaps give the MW a call if you're worried. I've been getting light period pains too.

MissRee, that all sounds hopeful! :)

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 27/12/2011 22:51

welcome pink and saladory. Nice to have some old faces back. Pink my friends waters broke before her comtractions started. She was taken in after 24 hours and put on syntocin drip which got things going. She hada good birth experience so i hope it's the same for you.

I have a very tight belly tonight and back ache-have been for a nice spicy curry, now to sleep on it and see if anything starts overnight.

Have a good rest girls
