Hope you don't mind the slight tweaking of the thread title :) I was feeling creative! Not that it matters, at this rate it won't last more than a week...!

Had my MW appointment and baby still breech dispite all fours, swimming etc

So scan on the 9th and then it should all kick off as I will be 38+4 and fully expect ECV and C-section that week.......Sad

off to catch up with the thread now......whilst watching hocus pocus Grin

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 23/12/2011 14:38

Supa that's a shame! Don't give up yet though - have you taken a look at the spinning baby website yet? Has some useful techniques, that's all. Fx for you!

Wormshuffler · 23/12/2011 14:40

Hi Ladies
2 more sleeps until christmas and I just can't get into the spirit at all!

Hope to hear from mummyzoe soon and that things have settled down for them one way or another.

Lets hope you don't go over your dates frilly then you wont have to worry about the dates being out.

I am feeling a bit better about yesterdays appointment, especially as bump is currently going bat shit and lifting up the laptop with its kicks! Thanks for the bump on the other thread, one lady explained something to me that helped.

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 23/12/2011 15:26

Supa - try doing some deep relaxation and getting into some of the positions recommended to turn the baby - baby can only move around if there's enough room and you can create that room to some extent by just relaxing - I do hope it resolves itself naturally... xx

May try that Grin

Oeisha · 23/12/2011 15:45

I'm not at all "excited" about Xmas. Perhaps because there will only be me, DH, MIL, FIL and associated furbabies. It all seems so unnecessary. Just get together, have a meal, open some pressies (if you want) and enjoy being with your family.
I guess essentially being an athiest doesn't help. That and I feel like I'm just "waiting" for Abi now. Bless her!

Lunch was OK, was nice to get out. Town didn't look hectic, but I can bet work was MWHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Anyway, I guess I'd better do something productive with my day and try not to think too much about ECVs and sections. I really don't want an ECV...especially if they can't tell me for sure where her limbs are.

SpagBollyandtheIvy · 23/12/2011 16:27

I had a successful ecv with DS. Although not very nice it worked and saved me a section. You are scanned continually throughout so they can see where all the bits are, mainly so can see that the cord doesn't get tangled or overstretched. So don't be too glum, it can be ok

Mum2be79 · 23/12/2011 16:39

Flippin' Norah!!! I disappear for a couple of days and then I have about 5/6 pages to catch up on!

I had my FIFTH scan to day to check fluid levels. The AFI was 5.7cm - only 0.3cm less than last week and the placenta was good. Peanut was a little mischievous by constantly wriggling whilst the sonographer tried to get some measurements. This little one regularly plays up during scans.

They want me back next Thursday for ANOTHER scan - 3 days before my due date. I was convinced that I would give birth earlier than 1st January but now I'm not so sure ...

supadupaturkeystupor · 23/12/2011 17:11

ghost already read that website and following the advice thanks
makes fat chance with a 2yr old hypobaby in the house Grin
hugs to oeisha, i'll hold your hand if you hold mine xx

spag that actually really helps, thanks. Did it hurt? I don't want gas and air and am a bit worried about that.

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 23/12/2011 17:34

Hiya all,

I have been discharged form the antenatal consultant. That was a bit weird and final. Everything is ok, the next time I see them I will either be in labour or anticipating my c section.

I have been given surgical stockings and some antacids to take the night before (lol theres the irony).

Heres a question for you:

A question the midwife asked me today was what were my thoughts on hair removal pre-op. Given that I can't even see the old "bush" at the mo I don't know what to do-they do a dry shave for you pre-op (ouch) but it's also good to do the down below bits as well as the bits closest to the abdomen because that can all get a bit claggy which ever way the birth goes. So do I strip the garden bare as it were? Not my choice as i'm an au natrel girl in the main. Also dealing with post shave itchyness could only add to post birth issues.
So what are your thoughts?

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 23/12/2011 17:48

Hi fish I saw somebody on katy's thread recommending removal of everything yourself as the dry shave option was bleurgh.

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 23/12/2011 17:50

Personally I reckon a short trim further down is the best option. Hygienic but non itchy

Oeisha · 23/12/2011 17:51

I really do think I'm ceph. Just well, now there's a chance I'm not, it's weird. Will have to start doing the inversion stuff.

m2be good news of the fluids and active Peanut!

I'm planning on (but not booked) a waxing fish, just the usual bikini, so I will have something there. I dont' seem to get the same itchy issues with that kind of regrowth. I just keep forgetting to ring them Confused. Will be ringing them Tues/Wed to see when they're open the following week and check they're ok with it all (poor love at 8wks was terrified she was going to do some damage). Also kinda plan on letting DH go mental with the scissors if I feel it's getting too long (I have scarily straight hair). But yes, I think they do just 'dry shave' or at least "short, back and sides" you...

fish Good news! This final leg is starting to freak me a bit though. Don't exaclty want her in there forever, and would like the post-birth stuff to be here, but it's all a bit EEEK! Have they given you full-leg stockings or only up to the knee? I've got both lying about somewhere - lucky me!

MissRee · 23/12/2011 18:46

Mulled - I'm booked in for a full Brazilian next Thursday, 2 days before DD!!! Am secretly hoping the shock/pain will bring on labour Grin

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 23/12/2011 18:54

ree i have never ever been waxed down there. That's one scary thought and something tells me it's not the time to experiment. I think i'd also be very embarssaed to be totally bare down there-I associate that with something deeply personal and not to be seen by medics :)

Crosshair · 23/12/2011 18:57

I tryed to shave a few weeks ago with a mirror, drew blood so dh had to go in and finish the job. Xmas Blush

I would recommend a trim just to keep it tidy and gunk free.

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 23/12/2011 18:58

missree Xmas Shock have you had one before? I have normal bikini waxing but you get to keep your pants on for that I'm not sure I could cope with a full one!

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 23/12/2011 19:27

Shit - noone is shaving me! I get horrific ingrowing hairs and it would make post birth soooooooooooooooooooooo awful :(

Clippers only!

SlightlyStuffed · 23/12/2011 19:28

I'm curious as to why the mw was asking. Was there any reasoning for going bare? Is it going to be a vaginal birth?

Personally, I'm just trimming. Waxing isn't my cup of tea at all.

Can't reach my toes now with the PGP and that's concerning me more I hate anybody else messing with my nails but they will be needing cutting soon.

SpagBollyandtheIvy · 23/12/2011 19:31

supadupa I can't pretend it was pleasant, but for me it was 100% worth it. It wasn't exactly painfull though, more like eeuurgh this feels all wrong, like when you do something with a joint it's not supposed to do. Uncomfortable and a bit sore I suppose i would say. Nothing like labour :o I was given a muscle relaxant first to make it softer, think I might have had some paracetomol too.

I was amazed by how physical it was, at times a 4hand job, just keeping pushing the baby round and not letting it slip back. I think it took about 30mins, then got hooked up to monitors for a bit afterwards. DS unbothered by whole experience, remained head down and I was v glad we did it.

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 23/12/2011 19:34

stuffed possible vaginal birth in which case the question is not all that relevant. But I have a C section booked on 18th Jan if things don't start naturally.

She asked what my preference was for the c section-they do a dry shave if you need it round where the incision is going to be made but you can do it yourself beforehand if you wish.

MissRee · 23/12/2011 19:43

Yes, I normally go for a brazilian in the summer months and go au naturel in the winter to give the skin a rest. If you have some paracetamol beforehand and go for hot wax (rather than strips), it's much more bearable!

I much prefer being hairless for "that time of the month" so definitely don't want to have to deal with lochia with a hairy fanjo!

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 23/12/2011 19:55

If you are used to it then I would think it would be ok. I haven't found myself more sensitive for general waxing. Grin
