Hope you don't mind the slight tweaking of the thread title :) I was feeling creative! Not that it matters, at this rate it won't last more than a week...!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
FrillyMilly · 21/12/2011 21:06

Thanks everyone. I will put a pad in again and see what happens. It's DHs birthday tomorrow so don't want to spend the day in hospital!! It's my second baby so you think I would know these things by now. It's amazing how quickly you forget.

Oeisha · 21/12/2011 21:33

Just to reassure, I think 7.8lb is the mean average... 8.??lb baby isn't that big!

I don't think my appointment was shoddy so to speak, just concerning that she wasn't able to figure it out. She did spend a good 10 mins digging about and thinks it's ceph, at least 3.5 engaged, but also thought "bum£ felt like a head too, so just wanted to be sure. I can't tell WTF AbiChicken's doing, and I've usually been right, so fair enough. I'd rather be sure than face a breech last minute...

The bloods thing, I know they're ok. They told me that in hospital and said there was no point in re-doing them at 28wks (it was 27wks when I had them done), but am a little weirded out how they've not noticed they're not there before, or where the hell they've gone in the last 2 weeks!

frilly sick in a pad. Sounds not dissimilar to the 'leaks' I've been getting. It is worth letting the MW know though. They've asked me every time I've seen them since, and it's noted every time. they have told me to phone triage if:

  1. it changes colour at all - any colour...
  2. it smells unpleasant at all
  3. it smells sweet at all
  4. I'm obviously soaking a pad or nearly soaking...
  5. it happens more frequently (I'm only getting 2-3 'leaks' a day)

Ruddy hell. 2130...can I please go to sleep now??? OOOH! I could ring Mum. That's what I'll do (if I go to sleep too early I WILL be up at 3am).

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 21/12/2011 21:34

Evening ladies,

Bless you all for being so concerned Blush I'm fine-just had dd home today and a very busy day, amazing what a difference having her home has made-i'm so glad it's only 2 days alone at home before DH breaks up-I had got used to being on my own all day. I had my nct christmas get together which was lovely then another friends Solstice party tea this eve. I wasn't going to go then i realised it was probably the last time i'll see anyone for a while and I just sat in a chair and people waited on me, so it was lovely.

Went to docs about the sickness this morning, been given zantac morning and night and another bottle of gaviscon with strict instructions about taking it within half an hour of eating no matter what, plus i'm now taking tums as well and I have had an indigestion free day and I haven't been sick. I have enjoyed food-but I have been constipated again so the whole darned cycle begins again :(

I am 37 weeks today. he can just jolly well hang on til after xmas now please.

3 weeks 3 weeks 3 weeks

SHO & oieshaGood news :) all round by the sounds of it :)

frilly I too have a been a little concerend I may be leaking fluid-i'm afraid wearing a pad revealed little. It was "used" but i couldn't tell what the fluid was-didn't smell like wee tho.

greenlady big babies are cool. I'm cooking another 10lb in here (dd was 9.10) and she fitted newborn stuff no worries. Solid as bloody rock from the start she is.

I don't know how much i'll be on tomorrow-hopefully friday pm i'll get some time to cath up properly and answer everyones q's about aromatherapy.

xxxx

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 21/12/2011 21:35

oiesha sorry i didn't mean to say good news I meant to comment on babies position. sorry very tired

xx

SantaSHO · 21/12/2011 21:49

Glad your ok fish
great news addicted
oiesha the mw's often have a hard time deciding on what end is up with this baby. Which is why I asked for a scan today to double check. My 'regular' mw seems to believe that the doppler is the best way to check when she cant tell by hand. i.e. check heartbeat at top and bottom of bump, head is the loudest end.

baby size dd was 8lbs 10oz, pushed her out in 14 minutes, 2 stitches. She was fine in 'newborn' size for long enough.
We met my friend in the hospital carpark today, she and her tiny baby were going home as we were going to our appointment. Baby was born on Monday, 1week early, weighing 5lbs 12oz, she is like a doll, 'tiny baby' size is massive on her!

greenlady78 · 21/12/2011 21:53

fish great to know you are well!!!! I'm just a bit concerned about delivering a big one first time around naturally...will have to sleep on it Smile

oiesha sorry if I sounded rude using the word shoddy Blush I didn't mean to at all. I wanted to go to sleep too but decided to do some cleaning (?!) so that hopefully I can have another 6 hours sleep again Grin

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 21/12/2011 22:39

[wails] MN just ate my post in which I was all supportive and responsive - suffice it to say I am thinking v nice thoughts about you all Grin. Especially cakes whom we haven't seen in ages (at least 24 hrs!). Ok due date buddy? Xmas Smile

And yes, hmm, discharge - lots of it here, but don't think it's waters; if so would be freakishly steady. Doesn't smell like urine though Blush

greenlady78 · 21/12/2011 22:56

santa sorry missed your post! Nice to hear that you had such a 'good' time with your baby! I need to find inspiration from now on!!!! You defo started the trend, with mummyzoe Smile

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 22/12/2011 08:24

Hello hello - I'm alive, I'm alive! Had crummy night's sleep night before last, so was a bit zombified yesterday and stayed away from the 'puter. Do find it a bit concerning that I obviously post so much that only 24 hours away from MN flags up warnings!!!

Yay for ghost and me hitting our full term today baby can come pretty much whenever now, as long as he could please miss out Christmas Day and, ideally, wait until january...

On the plus side I slept from 10-6 - eight hours uninterrupted! Hurrah! You know what the key is? On the nights DH does the 'deepening' exercises from hypno with me I sleep through, the other nights I wake up in the wee small hours and can;t get back to sleep. We tested this thoroughly and seem to have proved it, so now he has to do them every night until the baby arrives. Hah!

I got properly told off last night - almost shouted at - because I'd been 'doing too much'. Dh has been pitching in lots with housework and stuff and I was told in no uncertain terms this was so I could make the most of resting before labour and a small baby and not so that I could go round doing more intensive housework and Christmas stuff whilst he was out. I felt properly rebuked and have agreed to sit around like a lady of leisure except for present wrapping. It's so frustrating though... like, right now, there are dust bunnies under that chair and it wouldn't take seconds for me to hoover them up... It makes me feel like an invalid again and I hate that. I was ill for 8 years, I don't like regressing.

Hope you enjoy your pamper session today ghost
Glad you're OK fish

Can't help about the leaky waters I'm afraid, but am wondering what to do about Sanitary towels... I never used them (Mooncup girl here) so the only ones I have a few 'Always' leftover from when I was a youth group leader and it paid to have some supplies just in case, but the MW said 'Always' were no good because they were too absorbent or something, so am I supposed to go out and buy a whole pack of STs just for the one I'll need when my waters go? Mental. What brand are supposed to be less absorbent and, therefore, better? What a waste of money...

OP posts:
addictediam · 22/12/2011 08:50

I didn't realise that cakes, I use always and always have done. occasionally using tenna lady when buying from the corner shop. maybe I should try something else

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 22/12/2011 08:51

Apparently they can't tell if there's discolouration of the waters or something... I was a bit baffled by it, tbh, wonder if I should ask around MN a bit?

OP posts:
addictediam · 22/12/2011 09:08

Your right, I vagley remember the mw mentioning something about it when I was pg with dd. I had green discharge a few times, they couldn't find anything wrong and after the 3rd I think, the mw asked what pads I was using, and just sort of said 'oh yea' but didn't explain much more. I guess that makes sense now!

I wonder what pads are better?

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 22/12/2011 09:13

well on my AIBU thread they're saying maternity pads...

OP posts:
FrillyMilly · 22/12/2011 09:13

What about using maternity pads instead? I've picked up a pack of asda own ones for about £1 to put in my hospital bag. Also got some always night time. I've always used always so that's what I've been using to check for leaks.

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 22/12/2011 09:14

now they're saying something about absorbent fibres in mat pads vs. gel in 'Always' - it's getting v technical and apparently I am unreasonable, but I can live with that Xmas Grin

OP posts:
SantaSHO · 22/12/2011 09:29

Yes its supposed to be mat pads in those occassions. Youl need them in first few days anyway so its not pennies wasted Iykwim.

Good luck today worm

I think hope that dd's fever is related to her jags the other week. She was poorly and miserable last Christmas so we don't want a repeat. Especially as its her last as an only child.

supadupaturkeystupor · 22/12/2011 09:36

yes use maternity pads makes. Plus if your waters suddenly go they will soak up more

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 22/12/2011 09:40

Hi ladies, back from GP, ppm is still ROA and firmly head down, wohoo! My BP is still high but not much higher so no concerns there, and there's a trace of blood in my urine so that's getting checked. GP didn't say much about HBs but of course it's not alarming at this stage!

Just waiting to go in for my massage now Grin

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 22/12/2011 09:45

Morning beautiful women,

Busy day ahead-I get to meet another newborn today yay :)

dd is being gorgeous at home, we have just been googling videos of narwhals, shes a natural history, marine biology nut.

cakes get and use some maternity pads. They are only a couple of quid.
-i'm a mooncup girl too but I promise you, you wont be using it after the birth for a while.

It took me 8 months (4 periods I did't get periods back until dd was 4 months old because of breastfeeding) before I could use my beloved mooncup again. it pulled on my scar tissue from my episiotomy.

my freind has just arrived
