Hope you don't mind the slight tweaking of the thread title :) I was feeling creative! Not that it matters, at this rate it won't last more than a week...!

i wouldn't recommend getting a special baby bath. I didn't use mine more than 10 times and you have to carry them full of water to and from the bath to empty and refill. Just as easy to bath in the sink or big bath. And they are soon big enough to be sitting in the big bath.
It is often quoted as one of the 'unnecessary' bits we buy along with nappy bins....

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 18/12/2011 10:42

We don't have a bath, not everyone does.

38 weeks tomorrow here too Shock Scary Shock

Actually got a bit of wrapping up done last night, mainly because I'm seeing my brother and his fiancée for the last time before Christmas today Smile

Suddenly started snowing quite hard here

addictediam · 18/12/2011 11:02

I still use my baby bath for dd, as it saves on water! But it sits in the big bath so no carrying heavy baths of water. And when bump is here she will get dunked first, then dd. As they get older that may change. But my 3yo brother still baths in a baby bath, again it saves on water.

When is kitty's induction? I thought that was before katy's? I cant believe the first babies will be here so soon!

Being really parinoid and neurotic today, trying to stay away from the phone so I don't call the mw! Yesterday when i went to the toilet and wiped there was a slight tint of pink and i mean so slight I sat there looking at it for 5 minutes trying to decide if it was pink or not Blush. I thought I'd wait and see if there was anymore throughout the day before ringing the mw. There wasn't so I decided i was being neurotic. Then just now when I wiped there was a slight tint of green, again so slight I really am not sure im not just imagining it! I've decided to give it !n hour (do my best not to go to the toilet in that time!) And see if anymore has built up and what colour it is. But with these back pains, contractions and cramps I'm trying not to freek out! I need a slap round the face!

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 18/12/2011 11:04

Kitty is Tuesday I think...

I never really use the baby bath. Used to enjoy getting a bath with DD, I still do. I will probably bath them together as I have a baby seat for the big bath.

Slipped on the ice outside the house this morning. Landed on my knee which hurt. Back and hips hurting quite a lot now too. Just starting to feel ok and do something daft like that!

How many weeks are you now addicted?

addictediam · 18/12/2011 13:26

I know there is nothing wrong with bathing with your children, but things have happened in my timeline meaning my family have always been very over cautious when it comes to naked children and adults resulting in dh being fully dressed around dd at all times and me finding it awkward to get dressed in front of dd (although since she started walking and now likes to play boo with the shower curtain while I'm in there :o the awakwardness is easing.) But bathing with the baby, for me is still alittle too odd (but I do know that's my problem and its perfectly fine and normal to do so!) Meaning a need for a baby bath.

There was no more discharge earlier so i relaxed a little, but when i went just now there. was some on the publish side (again had to really study it!)

I'm 33+1 frilly.

I was just thinking we have an extreemly lucky thread here, so far (touch wood) there have been no prem babies, and a lot of you are now classed as full term. Quite unusual.

Wormshuffler · 18/12/2011 13:42

I used that link thank you cakes it's come and was in the most enormous box! Looks perfect for us. It's all about water conservation for Me, and the fact the water pressure in my house coupled with a rubbish boiler means it takes an absolute age to fill a bath. I put it inside the main bath though.

I id get back to sleep about 4, until 7 when DH came to bed after his last night shift before the birth, which is a big relief as he was 2 and a half hours away. I only used mumsnet as I had taken my phone to bed like I always do when DH is at work. ghost I am getting loads of HB's especially if I lay on my back or left side.

Yummy that is rediculous that the tie and braces were not included, have you given them a call to check they havn't just forgotten them?

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 18/12/2011 14:58

Yes we will also be getting a bath. Mainly because of the water saving but also having the option of moving the bath into warmer rooms if it is chilly.

I'm wondering whether to get work to buy me that one cakes linked to.

Mum2be79 · 18/12/2011 15:15

I've got a baby bath. Plan on bathing little one in the sitting room where we have a fire - much warmer. DH will empty the bath for me. Plan on doing this until I'm more confident using the main bath.
I will probably take him/her in with me at first. I do know for some it can be a little weird.
My mum used to take my niece in with her (grandma / grand daughter) but I find that too odd and I am NOT looking forward to telling my mother that I do not want her bathing with my child.

FrillyMilly · 18/12/2011 15:35

I found bathing with DD when she was tiny a lovely bonding experience. Nice to have skin to skin with her. Everyone is different. I grew up with a mum, nan and aunts who are all very open so that's probably why I am. My mum used to ask us to sit in the bathroom for a chat whilst she was having a bath. In fact she probably still would if I lived with her. DH isn't as relaxed as me though.

abeautifulbutterfly · 18/12/2011 16:49

I wasn't planning on getting a bath but a friend gave me one with shelves, a changing mat and all (bath comes out from under changing mat and clips into place at right angles to it for bathtime so you can just lift baby out and onto changing mat when done), and - tada - a plug and hose to let the water out into the basin or toilet or bath, so no lifting Grin. Never look a gift horse in the mouth, I say.
Personally I never bath myself, only shower - hate baths, so getting in with baby doesn't appeal (we only have a small bath anyway). She will go in with DDs1 and/or2 when old enough.
Addicted I was thinking the same thing about this AN group :) Looked a bit hairy with Katy for a while but now seems ok. Hope you're ok too.

The girls decorated the Xmas tree yesterday and it snowed for the first time overnight, so we are all festive today. They even made a tiny snowman Grin. Just the dreaded school Xmas fete to get past now and then I can enjoy Xmas.

Have a good week!

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 18/12/2011 17:17

ooh - I think I just had my first HB!

Re: bathing with baby, I'll be doing this, but only when DH is about to take her off me and deal with her. The risk of slipping and falling's just too high for my paranoid brain (and DH, this is what he invstigates for a living). I can stll get in and out now under my own steam just about, but DH does't like it much.

I've not yet got a baby bath, but do have a bath support if I'm feeling tender. I figured if I needed it then I can get some willing and overly excited grandparent to go and get me one. I was looking at this one - expensive, but space-saving and a possibility for visiting friends who have no available facilities. Or possibly a Tummy Tub if I've had a c-section as you use so little water in it. It's also been recommended to me by Mums that have had varying levels of intervention.

cakes exciting! Mine seem to have gone away if anything...odd.

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 18/12/2011 17:46

I've gone for the bath cakes linked to but I quite fancy this for the bath or bathing with bubs.

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 18/12/2011 19:22

evening ladies,

I love bathing with DD when she was a baby, we used to even breasfeed in the bath sometimes but not in the house on my own. I recommend a baby bath with a plug-(you can do it over the ktichen draining board) if you have a c section as leaning over the bath can be very difficult. A cautionary note Tummy tubs frequently are listed on MN as one the most useless baby items of all time :)

What a weekend we have had, stressful and enjoyable by degrees. DH went to a party last night and stayed out at my best friends house with her DH-my best mate (madameboo on here if you have come across her) came up with her son for a sleepover to as not to repeat last weeks paranoid not sleeping while dh was out episode. The kids didn't get to sleep til ten then were awake at 6.30. But we did get to watch a film (bridesmaids v funny in a watch from behind your hands cringy way) and eat chocolate.
she then had to leave here at 9.30 this morning, the plan was to leave her son with me for an hour while DH and her DH came back from thiers so he could pick up his son and go home. The chaps didn't turn up here til gone eleven. DD decided to have another supernova stylee meltdown over the fact that litteboo had the audacity to write his name on a bit of paper she wanted. I had to actually restrain her, her temper was so bad. It was the most upsetting thing I have ever had to do. I'm still reeling from it TBH. I'm beginning to wonder about getting a HV involved or something, her behaviour is just dreadful at mo shes like a whirling dervish when she loses her temper. I had put littleboo in the bath to keep him safe from my tempertantrumming dd and his dad turned up-we got things calmed down and got the kids dressed and they were fine then.

Both dads were so hungover that Mrboo and little boo didn't leave again until 2 and then dd had aparty to go to at 3.30 and somewhere in between I had did the weeks supermarket shop. I'm flippin shattered i put dd to bed a 6pm and she's gone straight off im glad to say. I feel on the verge of an emotional melt down myself. I didn't mind dh going out but he has said he's not going anywhere now for a while because it's clearly too much for me. I can't cope with losing hiom on the entire sunday day because h;s hungover but I don't want to make him feel bad about going out-he very rarely ever does, it's just these last 2 weekends. I am feeling a little put upon to be quite honest. But he's home to do school run tmrw morning and i am having a very quiet day.

and breathe...............

I am going to collapse now and find some crappy sunday night telly to watch.

SantaSHO · 18/12/2011 20:05

Sorry to hear about mire dd troubles fish
We were given a baby bath, similar to cakes but m&p version. The seat bit comes out so baby can gave a splash in the big bath with dd when bigger.

Emotional meltdown here tonight. :(
Dp is working 7nights a week just now and at the weekends 12hour shifts. He's never here and when he is he's sleeping or moaning and over reacting at dd.
The kids wardrobe is almost finished but he hasn't touched it since Monday which means that iv not been able to organise and put away the babies clothes. They are currently in a large box in the lounge.
The only reason the tree is up is because I refused to let him in to bed this morning until he got me the stuff out the loft. The coffee table still needs to get put in the garage as its too big and we need the space for baby.

The house is certainly not visitor friendly and my boss&kids are coming over tommorrow evening.

I think he his soo wrapped up in his work right now that he forgets just how much pain and discomfort I'm in right now.
He was so proud this morning announcing that he had emptied the dishwasher and put away the dishes. But the sink is sitting there full!

Sorry for the rant.

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 18/12/2011 20:11

What a stressful day fish an early night is definitely in order I think.

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 18/12/2011 20:14

and for you too sho

Oeisha · 18/12/2011 20:17

fish can't see any harm in talking DD through with a HV, especially how to de-esculate a proper tantrum. S/he might be able to suggest something...

and Sho too. Your DH sounds like mine there. Half a job gets done and you end up thinking but...wha??? But then I realise that he really just doesn't see it...
Though mine's being a treasure at the moment. He's also getting very excited. I'm trying to get excited, just can't yet for some mental reason.

Even got all weird about not taking the plastic wrap off the matress earlier as I dunno. The cot is now made up ready. It just look soo empty Sad. I don't feel like there's anything to worry about, but it just made me really uneasy. Put all Abi's clothes away today...or some of them. There's still stuff that needs moving out of the nursery before I can set up a couple of the drawers. Confused

Anyway. I guess I should go wrangle some washing.

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 18/12/2011 21:26

Hi ladies, a tiring day for me too, esp after last night! I'm going to have a bath and then listen to the hypno recording.

Big hugs to those of you who need it (did read, so tired I can't remember names on phone!) and fx for better days tomorrow.

Cakes Grin for HB! I'm still having quite painful ones regularly, but am still thinking it's HBs not early labour. I think DH is a bit worried Wink

Addicted (I think!) re the coloured discharge - I've had bouts of pink due to a small pg related growth which is harmless, but there can be lots of causes so it might be worth getting checked out. Do you have the 34 week check up coming up soon?

Oeisha · 18/12/2011 21:49

Ergh. I've now checked through 4 of our threads (and obviously missed) the bit where someone suggested a nappy change mix fpr spraying on nappy wipes. If anyone remembers what it os, or the lovely person that originally posted it finds it in their heart to re-post then I'd be very grateful!
....I'm off for a bath and hopefully a sleep...

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 18/12/2011 21:50

hehhe oiesha twas me-i have several recipes up my sleeve.

i'll PM you one.

x

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 18/12/2011 22:00

A quick re-post if anyone else has lost this recipe. I have also posted a doc up on the FB page so it will be easier to find.

Recipe for re-usable wipes
2-1/2 cups warm chamomile tea (strong brew-I use 3 tea bags for this amount, steeped for 5 minutes at least)
1 tablespoon of natural vegetable soap flakes
1 tablespoon Jojoba Oil/sweet almond oil (optional)
4 drops of lavender oil
4 drops of tea tree oil
1 tablespoon of runny honey
4 oz. Witch Hazel distillate (optional)

Mix together until the soap has dissolved, store in spray bottles in the fridge shake well before use.

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 19/12/2011 06:05

anyone else in the insomnia club this morning? Been fuuly awake since about 4.30 but a very restless night all in all. I'm just so uncomfortable now. DH has this morning off with the intention of giving me some rest. Cest la vie, seems I don't want it (even though I do)
